Am looking to settle down with 1 task manager. So far I've tried out android assistant, android booster, and task panel. What are your opinions on them? What other apps do use as a task manager?

Why?
Do you actually have a specific problem that can be solved with a task killer?
Settings>Apps>Manage Apps. There's your task killer.
Or if you're on stock launcher, menu button > manage apps.
Should be all the task killing you need in 2.3
As an alternative you get download Watch Dog that will monitor for you to make sure you don't have rogue apps bogging down your phone. Other then that you can probably do without a task killer.
I use advanced task killer... but you can use the built in Settings>Apps>Manage Apps stated above.
task killers no longer even have permission to kill most processes(after 2.2), they merely take you to the standard running process screen, which makes them even more obsolete.
task killers dont work anymore after 2.2. but the best task manager, by far no contest, is system panel. anything else isnt even close.
what would be best ?
Advaced Task Manager or Advanced Task Cleander 2.0
Neither. Android doesn't need them.

I use Advanced Task Killer to kill all programs and processes that aren't necessary when I turn my screen off.
Saves my battery life.
There will always be people willing to drink the Kool Aid.
Leave 'em to it.
ATK..saves my batt bro...
I just saw the Galaxy TouchWiz task manager, and I think that's a great function to have. I am currently rooted, is there a similar task manager that one can download? Something simple, quick, easy to access...
Thanks
Try System Panel
Check out System Panel Lite: https://market.android.com/details?id=nextapp.systempanel&hl=en
I prefer Advanced Task Killer (Pro)

The best task killer is not to use one.
... Please?

Normally I don't need to, but I like to have something easy and quick for times when apps cause an issue (more often than I'd like, unfortunately).

Maybe you should look for alternative apps then? Task killers are not the solution.
If that is the case, just use the defualt Android to force close it.
Hey, i haven't found anything in our forums about this, and the search function yeilded no forseeably helpful threads, so here i am. I apologise for my low post count, and would like to emphasise that i will try any solution.
Is there a way to whitelist an app from the system task manager? I often use it but would like to whitelist some apps such as widgetlocker that need not be terminated when i do a "clear all".
I am comfortable with cwm, adb, smali/baksmali and apktool. Thanks for any help.
Infuse, ZEUS ROM
Download a custom task killer like advanced task killer, and whitelist whatever you like
I use advanced task manager and it will whitelist apps. You can get the paid version for free on getjar.

I have used atk in the past, i like the stock better. Accessible via task switcher and no notification clutter just wondering...
Infuse, ZEUS ROM
1. Launch key mapped to long press on search soft key
2. Launch key internally invokes ATK
3. ATK configured not to get into notification bar
This is my current setup, and works better than stock task manager.
got it working (launchkey.apk) niice
I was looking for opinions about the "best" Task Manager for ICS.
Hopefully you want to share it
At the moment i'm using ES task manager, not bad, but i was wondering if there where better ones out there?
on ice hold the home button and all your recent windows come up and you can swipe them away to kill the task. This is built into ice. An additional task killer is not reccomended.

SystemPanel App...
i see a few different task killers posted here, though there isn't really a task killer that all of us must have...?
you may take a look or try Active Apps Ads / Task Manager ...
I use system tuner pro, it has a lot more functions than killing apps and uses very little RAM. To use all of it's functions, the device has to be rooted.
I use Advanced Task Killer Pro - works fine
