Working Swype fix + APK (black themed) - Samsung Infuse 4G

EDIT: After many headaches, I would recommend just using Go Keyboard. It's free from the market and theme-able.
I've tried almost all of our custom ROMs and for a lot of them Swype is not working correctly. I know not everyone uses it, but I happen to like it a lot and am always trying to get it to work. I've managed to finally figure it out thanks to BigFau, and also have a working APK for all to DL and install. This version of Swype is black themed (love it). Anyhow this is what worked for me (the Beta install did not work). Must be rooted for this.
1. Download the Swype .apk http://www.multiupload.com/MB6HBKH3D0
2. Use Root Explorer (or similar) to delete Swype.apk (system/app) and libSwypeCore (system/lib).
3. Restart device
4. Confirm Swype is uninstalled and not showing up anywhere in settings/locale and text menu.
5. Navigate to downloaded Swype apk and install.
That's it, it may update itself after installation, but has been working fine for me. Let me know if anyone runs into problems. Hit THANKS if helpful.

Screen shot? Also, which verison of swype of this is? I'm rather found of swype 3.

Yea...just force closing on me now

Worked fine in Max Q rom, now i'm on Darky's and this is not working. Sorry guys.

But now the Swype Beta works fine for me on Darky's. I think it has something to do with the ROM base. Max Q is leak-based and Darky's is JVQ-based.

Yea..I'm on darky...keeps fcng...lol...its all good...I was just trying it out, I don't use swyoe anyway...good job tho

for those of you where its force closing, after rebooting, reboot back to recovery and clear the dalvik cache, boot back up and then install the APK.
what do you use dman jw. as much as i love swype, i hate how they lack a feature to blacklist the random words that make no sense. is there a better keyboard?

Dman, no offense but as much as you misspell you should totally learn to love Swype it could be your best friend, lol. It really does grow on you, plus it learns words as you go and you can still peck single letters when you feel the need. just saying "atcually" haha, again no offense bro.

Swype on any rooted firmware
Never had any problems adding working swype to rooted firmware
Here is my short explanation for Swype installation
for US and UK English, Francais, Francais Canadien, Italiano, Deutsch, Espanol, Portugues Europe & Brasileiro, Nederlands, Dansk, Svenska, Suomi, Polski, Cestena, Slovencina, Romana, Magyar, Русский and 4 more asian than I can not spell
0. Rooted firmware + Titanium Backup + Root Explorer (or someting) + Swype (attached txt file with link)
1. If you have some Swype preinstalled pls goto 1.1 if not goto 2.
1.1. use Titanium Backup {menu} -> Batch -> Uninstall -> Un-install all user & system app -> deselect all than select ONLY Swype and uninstall it
1.2. Use root Explorer. Go to /system/lib and delete libSwypeCore*.so If you have in /system/lib folder /armeabi than go in and also delete libSwypeCore*.so
1.3. reboot!
2. Install Swype.apk
3. Use root explorer to "extract all" swype.apk
3.1. Use root explorer to ../extracted/Swype/lib and copy folder armeabi to /system/lib (don't forget to mount it R/W). Goto /system/lib/armeabi and copy libSwypeCore*.so to /system/lib
3.2. reboot!
4. Open settings and enable Swype and desired languages
As usual, I'm not taking any responsibility of bricked phones or whatever...

(MOD) NEW LINKS! Semi-transparent accuweather widget ( working ICS digital clock too)

http://db.tt/T84CNyD1 This is a semi-transparent stock accuweather widget that matches the digital clock. I DID NOT MAKE THIS, H-KaN DID AND HE IS BRILLIANT. LOOK HIM UP AND HIT THE THANKS BUTTON. I'm using this with KL3 but it may work with others as well. Make sure to make a backup. C&P this into system/app after MAKING A BACKUP OF THE ORIGINAL and then deleting it from system/app.
Edit- IV use these with la3 la4 la6.
UNFORTUNATELY THIS REQUIRES TOUCHWIZ TO WORK.. SO IT WILL WORK WITH ICS ROMS BUT ONLY THE ONES THAT HAVE THE TOUCHWIZ SKINS.. NOT ANY OF THE AOSP.
ENJOY!
http://db.tt/i5sXtMMs
This is an ICS themed Digital Clock that works in all the ICS ROMs.. install it the same way as mentioned above.. just copy and paste into system/app. Change the name from digiclock to digitalclock though.. this will work with ANY ICS ROM.
http://db.tt/TtH2A9jV
This is the stock Samsung DigitalClock that works with ICS ROMs. I'm using it right now with ICS STUNNER 5.0. Copy and pate into system/app. THIS WILL WORK WITH ANY ICS ROM.
FYI AGAIN.. I didn't make these so requests are useless. I simply put 2 and 2 together and thought since we are using galaxy nexus/i9100 ROMs then maybe the Apps from there will work.... what do you know.. they do! I can't find the thread I grabbed the ICS themed click from so I don't know who to give credit too.. but I'm sure he is brilliant and I am VERY thankful!
Hit the THANKS BUTTON if you use any of this!!!

Hi, first and foremost you need to get rooted... pretty much anything you will want to use will require root access... I use esfile explorer, its free and IMHO better than root explorer... the file explorers wont access system root files until you root your note and then give the file explorer SU permission. After that, you will go to the system folder and then app folder, and copy the widget, make a new folder on your SD card and paste it in there... then, if you ever want it back, you simply reverse the c&p process.

Worked perfectly. Looks a lot better now!
I use Root Explorer. This was my method of install in case it helps anyone.
1. Download APK
2. Go to root explorer> system> app
3. Make sure it is mounted as R/W (attached screenshot) and press and hold to rename the APK files you are changing by adding .bak (attached screenshot) to the name. This will disable the app rather than deleting it in case you want to re-use it later.
4. Still in root explorer hit the back button and go to SD card>download
5. Find the new apk you downloaded, press and hold choose move.
6. Go back to system> app and select paste.
After that, your new widget will be active.

Chinese Keyboard in .62 firmware

I always used the Chinese Keyboard on my play, don't know why, I didn't type Chinese or anyting, I just liked it more than the International Keyboard.
Recently I flashed the newest .62 firmware and have found the Chinese Keyboard is gone...... Luckily (I thought) I had a back-up of it in Titanium, so, I reinstalled it, and BAM! Forced close every 2 seconds
My question is this, has anyone found a way, or know a way, to get it back?
If not, can anyone suggest any good keyboards from the market I can try, as I really don;t like the International Keyboard, my thumbs are hitting the wrong buttons, even when using the 12 button keypad thing
Thanx in advance
Try the SwiftKey. First app in bought. But some dislike it. So try the free version first.

Thanx for the reply.
Just tried it, and it doesn't have the T9/12 button option, which for texting I use, can't type one handed with a qwerty keyboard, lol.
Fingers crossed for more suggestions.
I have tried the "TOP KEYBOARD APPS" that are on the market, and didn't really get on with any of them its looking like I'm gonna have t stick with the International Keyboard.
Try smartkeyboardpro or Swype best 2 keyboards in my opinion.
Why not just grab the chinese input from a rom dump and push it to /system/
Sent from my R800i using Tapatalk
I've tried reinstalling it from my titanium back up, and that didn't work. How would I get it from a dump (how would I dump) and how would I push it to /system/
I have messed around with permissions after reinstalling via titanium and still had no luck.
I'm still only learning about this sorta stuff, but I think now I have a good idea of most things.
Thanx for the advice again androhero, u come to the rescue again, lol.

It's prob a lib issue, alot of apps need supporting libs! I just had a look through my /system/lib folder and i can only find one lib that would correspond to the chinese IME, but they may be more, so this may not work.
Download the attached .zip inside is the .apk and the lib, copy the .apk to /system/app/ and give it the permission rwx-rxx-rxx, then copy libjni_pinyinime.so to /system/lib/. reboot and see if it works

No worries mate, thank u so much for helping anyway, gonna restore back my original .so file and remove the .apk
Guess I will just have to get use to the International Keyboard after all, its a shame tho.
Or you can just download it from the market: https://market.android.com/details?...wsMSwxLDEsImNvbS5jb290ZWsuc21hcnRpbnB1dHY1Il0.
It's the same one (maybe the skin in the market version got an update). Use the slide for symbols option though, it's the one thing that no other keyboard has and it rocks
Cheers!

Exact swype version needed.
Hi,
I have a Galaxy Fit I bought on 15th Oct 2011 and I'm from Bangalore, India. On the stock rom of my phone, I had a swype keyboard but lost it after i flashed it to other mods. I now need the exact swype keyboard. I have tried downloading a stock rom from samfirmware but I did not get the exact version of the swype that I wanted.
My mail id is [email protected], would help if you sent a mail with the answer.
Attachments show the version of swype I want. Got the pics from a youtube video.
Hoping I get this. :3

Swype keyboard

Hi
Guys, i installed ics rom (TeamNyx RC5) but it doesn't have swype keyboard.
Since 3 days i've been trying to download swype from swype's homepage but it always gives error message (it's a swype's problem as i could read at swype users forum, and no way to fix it).
So i need a way to get swype keyboard with portuguese language (PT).
If anybody knows a diferent way to get swype, please post the link.
Thank you
downloading swype beta requires you to have a swype beta account. then grab the swype installer and from that install swype. and yes, that's working.
also any search engine will easily find you plenty of download links for swype apk, unofficial sources of course
providing swype.apk here would is not allowed by the TOS

Yes, and i have a swype account. I have downloaded the installer. It gives error. As i told in my previous post, its a "parse" error due to something weird in swype's download page or apk.
In fact, i've searched but couldnt find swype with PT (portuguese / portuguese) language. And even so, 99,9% of the links, send me to swype's homepage (wich has the error on downloading)
Anyway, if there is a problem with this thread, you can delete it.
there's no swype with portuguese as language files are downloaded after install

I can confirm that this is true, the additional languages are downloaded after swype is installed

[APP][Official][CWM] Sony Xperia T 4.1.2 Keyboard [JB/ICS]

Hi,
I just got the leaked Jelly Bean 4.1.2 ROM for Xperia T and extracted the keyboard, which has Swipe feature built in. And a fellow user, kristiancarl, already uploaded the Xperia S version previously, which was running fine except on where it had instant search enabled, like YouTube search, Google search, Play Store etc etc. But this new one works perfectly EVERYWHERE.
I am very new to this stuffs and in fact spent more than half an hour finding the proper libs and all, to get it working  but to me the main thing is that it's working and working damn fine
CWM zip is attached. I am also uploading the files in a folder, kidnly place/redirect them at the right place
File download:
♦ CWM flashable zip:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/7nf7q34bzlfpq2b/XperiaT_KB_JB.zip
♦ Files for Manual method:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/tie67eqvtenlva7/Sony Xperia T Swipe.rar
• Installation instructions:
1- Extract the downloaded file.
2- You will get three folders.
3- The system-app folder has two files inside them. textinput-tng.apk (English language) and textinput-chn.apk (Chinese lang I guess). If you want both languages or one, just copy them/one under system/app. Make permission rw-r-r
4- The file in system-lib folder should go directly to system/libs.
5- The folder xt9 under folder system-usr needs to go under system/usr. Copy the whole xt9 folder.
6- Reboot.
Done. You will now see the Xperia™ keyboard under language, and it WILL WORK. I am using Note 2, running on 4.1.2 Odexed, and it works, so I guess it will work on all JB ROM, and maybe ICS too.
Why should you use this keyboard:
- Has predictions.
- Has auto corrections.
- Swiping feature is great, if not better than Swype.
- Different layouts.
- Custom words can be saved.
- Multiple languages.
Kindly hit thanks if you were able to get it working.
Regards.
i`m uploading a CWM flashable zip.....
EDIT:
Here it is....

It's working perfectly here... Using a cm10.1 based Rom...
Got it working here. Will play with it a little. Looks awesome so far. Nice work

You don't need to install anything, just moving the files will do.
Re: [APP][CWM]Sony Xperia T Keyboard with Swipe gesture (Working everywhere)
It worked great for me, but I don't like the way the gesture trail looks, and I can't see a way to turn it off, lol, so I've removed it Great share though
Could you add cursor arrows please if you know how?
slide trails is not changing color with theme it remains default blue
Compatible with Xperia Tipo ST21i ?
The Chinese keyboard FC every time i try to open it
This keyboard is just awesome. Thanks a lot for posting this one. You're the first. :good:

I'm using CM10 for Xperia X10 and I can't find the folders you're talking about in Astro File Manager. Also, can you please tell me how to make the permissions? I haven't done this before...
Thank you!

Hello sir, I hold no interest about CM, so can't say why the files are not there. They are there on any stock ROM.
I use Root Explorer, and there you tap and hold on a file, you'll get lot of options, one will be called 'permissions', hit it, then make the permission like the below screenshot, that's rw-r-r.

Can you make one based on the final JB 4.1.2 Xperia T firmware?
Keyboard works just fine. Love it. Skins are way better then the old ones.
Thanks!

Hello. You removed the whole keyboard or just the "gesture trail" picture file somehow? If so, how?
To turn the swipe thing off completely you just need to go to settings -> gesture input.
