Chinese Keyboard in .62 firmware - Xperia Play Themes and Apps

I always used the Chinese Keyboard on my play, don't know why, I didn't type Chinese or anyting, I just liked it more than the International Keyboard.
Recently I flashed the newest .62 firmware and have found the Chinese Keyboard is gone...... Luckily (I thought) I had a back-up of it in Titanium, so, I reinstalled it, and BAM! Forced close every 2 seconds
My question is this, has anyone found a way, or know a way, to get it back?
If not, can anyone suggest any good keyboards from the market I can try, as I really don;t like the International Keyboard, my thumbs are hitting the wrong buttons, even when using the 12 button keypad thing
Thanx in advance

Try the SwiftKey. First app in bought. But some dislike it. So try the free version first.

Thanx for the reply.
Just tried it, and it doesn't have the T9/12 button option, which for texting I use, can't type one handed with a qwerty keyboard, lol.
Fingers crossed for more suggestions.
I have tried the "TOP KEYBOARD APPS" that are on the market, and didn't really get on with any of them its looking like I'm gonna have t stick with the International Keyboard.

Try smartkeyboardpro or Swype best 2 keyboards in my opinion.

Why not just grab the chinese input from a rom dump and push it to /system/
Sent from my R800i using Tapatalk

I've tried reinstalling it from my titanium back up, and that didn't work. How would I get it from a dump (how would I dump) and how would I push it to /system/
I have messed around with permissions after reinstalling via titanium and still had no luck.
I'm still only learning about this sorta stuff, but I think now I have a good idea of most things.
Thanx for the advice again androhero, u come to the rescue again, lol.

It's prob a lib issue, alot of apps need supporting libs! I just had a look through my /system/lib folder and i can only find one lib that would correspond to the chinese IME, but they may be more, so this may not work.
Download the attached .zip inside is the .apk and the lib, copy the .apk to /system/app/ and give it the permission rwx-rxx-rxx, then copy libjni_pinyinime.so to /system/lib/. reboot and see if it works

No worries mate, thank u so much for helping anyway, gonna restore back my original .so file and remove the .apk
Guess I will just have to get use to the International Keyboard after all, its a shame tho.

Or you can just download it from the market: https://market.android.com/details?...wsMSwxLDEsImNvbS5jb290ZWsuc21hcnRpbnB1dHY1Il0.
It's the same one (maybe the skin in the market version got an update). Use the slide for symbols option though, it's the one thing that no other keyboard has and it rocks
Cheers!

does the spacebar fully function in this one? i heard there was problems with another droidx keyboard that was released not too long ago. thats why i didn't download it. can someone confirm?
I just tried to install this using the instructions, and I must be missing something. I pushed both files to the right directories and they show up there, but I see any option to actually use the keyboard. It doesn't show up under settings->keyboards or when I try to choose the input method from an input box. Any ideas?
The multi touch on it doesn't work right anyways. It gets all screwy when I try and use it, pushing wrong letters and crap. Like I hold shift, hit y and it types b

[APP] Google Talk from 2.3.4 extracted: NOT WORKING, Help Needed!

Hi everyone,
I downloaded the extracted .apk from latest Google Android release 2.3.4
The .apk is atached below.
I have had no success in installing the app on my 2.3.3 ROM on my Samsung Galaxy S. I tried pushing it to /system/app via Root Explorer, but once you try to install package it just doesn't install by saying "Aplication not installed".
Im no dev or whatsoever,so I would encourage anyone who could help to make it work on 2.3.3, Google stated in Google Mobile Blog that Google Talk with Video Chat will be for 2.3+ devices, so it "should" work on 2.3.3.
Any help is appreciated! Share your thoughts!
Try pushing it into system/app and then change permissions. Reboot and post result.

That was my first thought too, but after downloading the entire update it looks like that might not be the case. There aren't a ton of changes in there, and only two updated system apps. One of which is gtalk, the other is an nfc app(for supported devices obviously). I haven't looked through anything else yet(I'm slacking off enough at work as it is), but it would appear the changes are minimal.
Edit: found a new libtalk_ini.so file in /system/lib/
That may help? Anybody have time to try?
I really wish I knew how to do this stuff. I would love to give it a try but I'm so lost! Time to do some reading! LOL
The manifest for this apk says the target and minimum sdk version is 10, which is 2.3.3....so there's a good chance that after some deodexing and supporting files this will work no problemo
That's the key. It should work on 2.3+ as stated by Google, so I think i'ts up to deodexing and adding the proper files. Sure someone experienced can do it

Btw, its very possibly its simply running the standard install of Talk.apk instead of Talk2.apk... I'll try removing the Talk.apk...

Gingerbread Keyboard for Froyo. (Update 06.02)

I use Froyo (because for now it's fastes rom), and Im not really like original keyboard, I HATE IT
For some % people who using 2.2 rom and wanna get keyboard from 2.3 you in the right place.
First option is : (for children)
Just install apk.
Go to settings> language&keyboard> mark gingerbread keyboard.
Second option : (my favorite, and only for root phones, AND ONLY FOR ADVANCED USERS ONLY)
I like when everything is clean. (I can find in any rom something to delete)
Open Root Explorer.
Go to System>app
Delete from there keyboard apk (original keyboard)
Copy my apk file to System>app, and install
Restart your phone.
(your gingerbread keyboard is gonna be know in "input method" like originally.)
This apk is: Light weight. Without any additives. Does not take ram just same as the original keyboard. Faster than ORIGINAL !

that one doesn't look nearly as well done imo.
A single icon isn't supposed to come out of the corner, etc...
This one is perfect.
What is the difference between corners and fast corners?
which one is better?
here's the quote
"What's Fast Corners?
I've made the fade animation when tapping a corner instant so that the corner expanding animation plays more smoothly. Basically this just reduces the number of simultaneous animations going on resulting in less work. Even on my HDPI Samsung Galaxy S this made a slight difference in performance. The tweak is non-trivial and the change is extremely minor but for users with LDPI and MDPI devices this should improve that animation."
I actually tried both, and I recommend fast corners. Seems to look much smoother, though both are awesome

Thanks for taking a look at this issue. I have reviewed these changes and it makes sense why the "DPI Hacked" versions that I posted are not "sticking". The only problem I can see is that the version of GSF in this thread is not matching either the official "20110828" or the official "20120317" ICS version of Google Apps. When I compare GSF versions, I get a lot more changes than just seeing a one line difference in /GoogleServicesFramework/smali/com/google/android/gsf/checkin/CheckinRequestBuilder.smali. Can you tell me what version of GSF was used? It says 2.3.7, but its not the same as my version.
Also, all the changes made in your DPI modified version of Vending.apk seem ok, except, I'm not sure why there are changes to res/menu-v11/actions.xml and some of the other resource files. The "cleanest" way to package this is to copy the modified classes.dex into an unaltered version of Vending.apk. This way, apktool will not do anything funny to the resource files and doing a file comparison will not show a bunch of unwanted changes.
I would also like to mention that these files will not work for ICS or any DPI other than 240.
Attached are my logs of the file comparisons to the original versions. Thanks.

Got the .15 version working with 182DPI and it doesnt revert using density modder.

Seems you also have to install the GSF for it to work.

I can confirm this as well on Nexus S (240dpi) with AOKP M5. I never use Talk on my phone though so for me it's an acceptable bug.

The GSF apk has "signature" protection enabled in it's AndroidManifest.xml. You could either change "signature" to "normal" so the protection is disabled, or you could resign the other apk's (such as talk.apk) so the signature matches. For example, if I modify GSF.apk and sign it with my "test key", then the signature protection within the apk will only trust apps that are signed with the "test key".
This doesn't seem to be working for me. I cleared Market data, copied both APKs and rebooted, and now I have the latest Play Store version but still I can't install a lot of apps -- mostly they don't even show up when I search on the phone.
