No. Its Java. It works in Linux, windows, or Mac! One file runs on all platforms.
whats the difference between this and odin?
Stupid question. But what did odin do then ?

I'm glad you asked.
It works on Linux, windows and Mac. It's open source (drivers and all). It installs its own dependencies. It's unpackagable and repackagable. It shows you what you're flashing. It is safer than Odin in 6 different ways. Also, there is ABSOLUTELY NO Odin flash for the Sidekick 4G which is complete. This is a complete flash.
There is no odin package which can say any of these statements. You can click the last link in the first post for more.
Awesome! This tool saved many vibrants, where Odin couldn't touch them. Everything from flashing wrong roms, incorrect kernels, etc... thanks man!
I do suggest that you mention something about Macs possibly needing a USB hub with it's own power supply, because I know that came up a lot over there...
can you please make a tutorial on how to flash this? . thanks

It looks something like this in Windows 7... Looks different on XP, Linux, and OS-X... this is because I let the OS handle the window decorations.
Even though they look different and different methods are applied to each OS, I've programmed One-Click for the same operation on each OS.

You aren't using THIS program. You need to download and execute the program in the first post.
Are you running one-click UnBrick? That does not load firmware and you've got to have administrative permissions to run it properly.

How to get your phone to stock ED12:
1. Download File (Mirror) and Odin
2. Open Odin
3. Put your phone in download mode (Shut it off, wait for lights to all go out, then hold 1 on the keyboard while powering up)
4. Connect phone to computer you should then see Odin put a Com (Number) in the first box. The actual number is NOT important what is important is something popped up there when you connected your device, meaning Odin can see it.
5. In the PDA Section place your tar for a full wipe and full return to Stock
6. Check reboot on the left with DebugEn (only those should be checked)
7. Hit start ( If it sits on File Analysis for longer than 1 min it’s not going to happen Redo Steps 2-7) you should see the progress bar then just wait for reboot.
8. ENJOY!!
Troubleshooting:
1. Reboot your PC
2. pull the battery on your phone
3. Wait for PC to reboot
4. Do steps 2-7 in section above
Known Bugs
-4G non-functional
- GPS non-functional out of the box - WORKAROUND: get GPS Status from the Market; reset AGPS status (works with wireless networks off)
- Wake lag present
- Does not boot when plugged in and powered off, unplug to boot
- Temperature sensor readings are incorrect. You may see interrupted charging due to bad battery temp readings.

Edit: it seems unroot didnt work, though like mentioned above you would only want to unroot incase of hardware issue or you want t replace the phone wit T-Mo, but thats all good now cause i posted a working Odin image earlier.

First off thank you for the easy root But now I have an issue, the SD card wont work, looks like it wont find the extension anyone know how to fix this? Ive used many different card and none read but I know all work. Without this I cant do a ROM
Try reformatting the card? Did they work before you rooted? do they work again if you unroot?
They worked before the root, I didn't unroot yet. When you out then in the phone and go to the SD card setting it shows nothing. Just says unavailable. So I can't even format it on the phone. I've formatted them in many ways on the pc too
HTC EVO = my best friend
did you try pulling out the sdcard and putting it back in? does it show a blank sdcard, or no sdcard at all?

The complete Sidekick 4G rooting/flashing/ toolkit!
Did you brick your phone? Check out the One-click "Easy ODIN" (Java required)
Do you need to root, but don't know how? (Who am I to judge?)
Are you looking for the best ROM for the SK4G up to date? (GOV2)
Do you need the CWM files?
Do you need all the drivers? (needed for "Easy ODIN")
Do you need more speed? (Check out the V6 Supercharger!)
Do you need faster 4G, or more battery? (Check out the 4G Blaze modem!)
If any of these fit you, chances are this kit is perfect for you. If it fits all of your needs, I guess it's just a match made in heaven!
If you find mistakes, please report them so I can correct them and reupload the pack. (I will be making changes as time progresses, so be alert!)
I have given credit to everyone whom I have used their tools. (Check the READMES)
Finally, enjoy! And thanks from everyone at XDA, you're a judgeless community and you helped me get better with Android in general!

Yea I used superclick, and I have never been able to get into cwm, only stock recovery, haven't flashed a rom....I read the whole cwm post and tried a few things but no luck.....from what I read the recovery isn't copying to the system/bin....but I am determined to get it, rooted every phone I have had since the g1....but any further help would be appreciated...thanks

yeah, it sounds like the recovery binary isn't getting into /system/bin. if you don't mind confirming.... you are extracting the recovery.zip, and putting the recovery file from in there into /system/bin? (then of course you have the update.zip, which is CWM, on the root of your sdcard)
and are you using a file program to paste the recovery file in there? and if/when you do, is it telling you that the file already exists and asking if you want to replace it?
Yea I extract and I am using root explorer and when I paste it, says 1 exsist and do I want to overwrite, I do so and update is on my sd..so I really am at a loss at y it isn't working...read the forums and people are doing the same as I am and it works...so don't know what my options are to achieve a new rom, lol...thanks for the help

damn, ok, that's strange. the only last thing i can think of is, when in stock recovery, you are choosing 'reinstall packages'?
i hope you figure it out, the files definitely work, i just downloaded and used them a few days ago, so i don't know what's going wrong there.
Yea when in stock I choose reinstall packages, but always get the signature verification failed.....and from what I read its because of the recovery.....but I will keep trying and maybe get lucky on one of them....might just odin and redo the whole proccess again...thanks for the help...

you could try this in Terminal Emulator:
-type su and hit enter
-then do: cp /sdcard/recovery /system/bin
this assumes that you have the recovery file on the root of your sdcard.

I tried on my device and computer. My computer said 45 minutes.
Any file upload site suggestions with good speeds?

I thought I saw a post somewhere on here for devs on this forum, and they grant something like 40GB free. Can't remember what it was called, though.
I'll see if I can find it.

I'm not a dev though
But maybe I could still use it for the transfer speeds.
Thanks.

This was the thread I saw about it...but you're right, if you aren't "recognized" or whatever, I don't know if it helps.

I softbricked my P6210 (Wifi only for those that don't know the model no.) and I didn't Nandroid before it happened. Can anyone upload/send me a Nandroid of the STOCK rom for this tablet? Please? The tablet is my son's and I feel like a total noob dad for messing up his tablet.
Why don't you odin back to the stock rom?

Here is a guide on how to get odin working on your computer, you can get the stock firmware from the stock firmware thread that is right here in the developers section (btw you posted your question in the wrong section.)

I can't run Odin cuz I don't have a PC. I'm on a MAC. And I can't find the Heimdall files to flash over. If this is in the wrong section, I'm sorry. I thought since I was requesting a Nandroid backup of a ROM that this belongs in development.
Mod, if this belongs in Q&A, feel free to move. And again, my apologies.

Also, I don't think that your hyper link worked, there is no link to "here" for that guide.

Hi there
Do not worry. It is easy to come back to the stock Rom. I have done this a hundred of times already. You only need to read a little bit the process to install via ODIN, I recommend you use a windows based software in order to make your software work with your tablet. Do not forget to install Samsung kies with the driver to communicate with the device as well as the odin software with the stock Rom which you can find both programs in this link:

I hope you can find this information useful.
God bless you....

I use a Mac and have installed Windows via Bootcamp. Would that be something you feel comfortable doing to have access to the Windows platform when you need it? It's pretty easy to do (lots of tutorials out there including one from Apple) and because it is free ATM, I installed Windows 8 consumer preview - and it runs pretty well on my Mac.

+ 1 VitaZora is right, you cannot stop yourself from reviving your device only 'cuz you have not a "real" PC! C'mon just emulate Windows OS and use Odin. You'll be safe

Funny thing, I actually did install Windows 8 CP as a Virtual Box, but my wife refused to let me parrallel it... She said "You wanted a Mac, not a PC. I'm not having you put Windows on the Mac... When I did a Virtual Box on it tho, the usb wouldn't recognize the tab, even with drivers installed... But I was able to get a hold of a Windows based PC for a little while early this morning and Odin'd the Tab back to stock... Finally..... Thank you everyone who provided help and tried to find a solution to my issue... This is why I LOVE this site and (most of) the people in it... When a member has an issue, other members take care of it... Its really awesome... Thanks again...
MOD----- CLOSE THREAD PLEASE----
Also, lastly, because everyone here was so helpful to me, you have all received official "thanks" from me... Thank you all again...
