this occur on both yours and your gf phone? She was at stock KD1 so she shouldn't have any problems after official update.

is it bluetooth hands free or wired?
i ask becasue north american captivates ie i896 and i897 have always been known ot have bluetooth noise if on the stock rom and not a stock kernel and modem. the fix is to use a kernel built from the same rom version, kb1 for i897 and jl1 for i896, or to flash a rom for an i9000, i9010, or i9088. there are versions that have voodoo injected in.
if it is not over bluetooth then you may be right. and may want to avoid voodoo sound.
Its not Bluetooth so I definitely think the problem is with voodoo sound. Anyways thanks for trying to help me out

[Q] Why is my internal microphone staying on?

When I plug in an external microphone, even a headset with a built in mic, the internal microphone stays on, giving horrible feedback to any recorded sound. How can i disable the internal mic?
Is this an issue with the custom ROM?
Same here....

That's my last hope to easily make this work. Can anyone with a all stock SGS4G try using an external mic?
$50 reward for any dev that finds a solution to this. If it cant be solved within a week, im selling this thing and getting an iphone or HTC.
There is an app on the market called tasker that claims to have a mic on/off toggle. It's seven bucks, don't know if it works on our phones. Maybe contact the developer to see if it does.....

what rom are you using? is your phone rooted with cwm? if so, then factory reset, clear Cache and dalvik cache and reflash. then clear cache again. worked for me when i was a noob.

Tried the Tasker trial version, no go. Can anyone with a stock froyo SGS4G plug a mic in and test this for me? $50 bounty will be good till end of the week, then im selling the phone.

Both of them are working with the stock and GB software? Which ROM are you using with GB? What mic was this with, not the built in headset was it? You have to hold the mic away then speak into the back mic to be sure.

Have you tried Supercurio's app?
I LOVE what it does for sound... makes your phone sound like a high-end device. I have the paid version, but here is the free if you want to try it out.

Yes, I tried and it does not help. Can anyone with an all stock SGS4G test this for me? I learned through some articles that the SGS2 produces even worse quality recordings? So if anyone has a phone without this bug, ill trade you for mine plus some cash. It amazes me that Samsung can put out such wonders of technology plauged by such stupid problems.

You should send @supercurio an email or tweet. The guy is a genius.

Been exchanging emails with him, very nice guy.
Still hoping someone here with a stock SGS4G can test this.
Try with different headsets. I had no problen when i was using froyo stock. Maybe it is the brand not compatible. Only guesses here. Btw if it solves the issue. Give bounty to a dev. Raver, krylon, dsexton or drhonk or whitehawk.

Hmm, using the stock headset it records fine, with the internal mic turned off as it should........
Whats different about the stock headset mic from every other mic ive plugged in???? Is the pinout the same with the mic as the 'sleeve' contact?

Nice try. I offered this to any dev that had a software solution to turn off the internal mic. No one here has taken that up, and im yet to have anyone tell me definitively that the are using a hand held microphone, not a headset, with froyo.

[Problem] Infuse Sound Problem

Hi..! I'm a noob. I have a problem with this phone, when I make a call, I can't hear with the earpiece nor speaker the person who I called, neither that person can hear me, but the speaker works with musics, videos, etc. and the mic works with google voice. Also when I record a video the sound is very noisy.
I hope a solution asap. Thanks
Can you include more details?
Do you have a rom or are you rooted with any mods?
Were you playing with and settings in the phone section?
Have you called anyone a second time?
In some roms there is a bug that there won't be sound on the first call after flash.

The problem happened after the phone bricked when I was trying to update to GB with samsung kies, and I returned to stock with the rom in this post (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=27286083#post27286083).
I tried to make others calls and nothing happened.

Went to the link you provided but it does not go to a specific rom, What rom are you currently using?
I'm using a stock GB.
ok, this will take a little time but always works for myself and many others. Post 1 will get you back in business and post 2 will get your root access back. All credit to qkster. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1524081
ok. I'll try later and I'll post the results.

The only other thing I can suggest is make sure your APN settings for your carrier are correct. Other than that be patient - there are many people with far more talent than me who will be dropping in to read your post. When they give you a solution that works, let them know and hit their thanks meter. All the best.
nobody can help me?!

Some Roms have it built in. I know Sky ICS had it and it worked well. Just remember that recording calls without consent can lead to problems..

Total recall claims that their recorder works on jellybean with root privileges. I'm currently in an email back and forth with the developer trying to get it to work on e skyrocket since it is a variant of the s2. I defiantly need the ability to record calls but I really don't want to downgrade. I'm currently running cm10 and it's soooo super smooth and fast.
Ihave been trying to get call recording to work on this damn phone for a while now and I'm getting a little tired. So far I have flashed like 6 ROMS in 3 days. I am currently running embryo 5.4 based on this thread but the recordings just comes out as a buzzing noise. There is nowhere in the rom settings that I can play with the recording settings,... Does this have anything to do with the modem I am using? When I do a complete wipe and fresh install through cwm does it change the modem? Does the lack of call recording ability even have to do with the modem?
Lol, please help me, I need this feature haha.

Mine works fine on embryo with the lf6 radio. No cwm does not touch the radio when flashing roms or wiping. They have to be manually installed.

Tasker can do it, there is a downloadable project for it, I tried it briefly and it worked fine, but not for calls on speakerphone.

Ok, so I am running embryo 5.4 and after I flashed the old modem from gingerbread, the recording works flawlessly.the recording quality is awesome and I love the fact that you must press record in the call screen built right into the app but I find the Rom itself very overwhelming. There are sooo many settings and so many different options and apps pre installed. When I go into the manage apps, under downloads there are like 15 different font packs alone. Also the media scanner seems to run for like 20 min after the phone boots, even after multiple starts. And they battery drain is pretty bad. Also Amgen I change the dpi to 200 where I like to Run, everything goes to hell. it I have found the best Rom battery wise is c9.1 is there any way to integrate the phone app from embryo into cm 9.1? They are both 4.0.4.......

Little update on the call recording on the skyrocket. Seems that the base kernel for jb supports call recording right form stock. the problem that I have been having and probably most people like me wanting this feature is simply lack of knowledge on the programming side. After a few emails from the developer of "CallRecorder" it was just getting the settings right. Using that recording app with source set to record from kernel, and recording in wav format all is well. I did lots of searching and flashing to get this right, so hopefully anyone else trying to get this working will find this thread and it will help them.
Cheers
Oh and on a side note,I am simply running cm10 stable with the stock Rogers uclf6 radio, cause I know someone will ask

One word of caution - before recording any phone conversation, make sure you're aware of your state's laws. In many jurisdictions, recording a phone conversation without the explicit consent of both parties is a felony.
Ty, I'm in Canada, you simply have to inform the other party and it is their decision of they wish to speak to you or not
Update.
Re-flashed uclb6 and everything is working great on incoming and outgoing calls, bought a LTE Sim card, not that I think that has anything to do with it but I have LTE on my data plan, might as well use it lol.

it is all the time, no using bluetooth or anything, jsut regular call, it's done this on stock ICS ROM, and every TW ROM since...
I just traded it in for a new one today (since was within 14 days) it did this on the two testers in the store and on the new one, so to me. its the phone.
after much research, it seems this helps
Call dialer-settings-advance settings-turn off noise reduction.
