sorry if has been answered. Ived looked around here. Anyone ever have someone complain when their talking to them on the phone that they sound muffled or robotic? Or even underwater sound? I have full bars and all. So I don't see what's up with that? Anyone have same issues or how to resolve it?

I have the same issue with sound on the other end being muffled, and others have trouble hearing me also. How would I go about changing my PRL to 1 to try it out?
You can't VZW has to.

I've had this problem from day 1. A bunch of different techs from VZW have looked into it and changed stuff on the backend and still no luck. :-(

I haven't noticed any issues and I got the phone on launch day.
Here is a thread on Android Central that we've been trying to do some testing about this issue:

I have been told that the voice quality isn't the best by some people but I have listened to a voicemail I left on someones phone and it sounded fine to me.
When I plug in an external microphone, even a headset with a built in mic, the internal microphone stays on, giving horrible feedback to any recorded sound. How can i disable the internal mic?
Is this an issue with the custom ROM?
Same here....

That's my last hope to easily make this work. Can anyone with a all stock SGS4G try using an external mic?
$50 reward for any dev that finds a solution to this. If it cant be solved within a week, im selling this thing and getting an iphone or HTC.
There is an app on the market called tasker that claims to have a mic on/off toggle. It's seven bucks, don't know if it works on our phones. Maybe contact the developer to see if it does.....

what rom are you using? is your phone rooted with cwm? if so, then factory reset, clear Cache and dalvik cache and reflash. then clear cache again. worked for me when i was a noob.

Tried the Tasker trial version, no go. Can anyone with a stock froyo SGS4G plug a mic in and test this for me? $50 bounty will be good till end of the week, then im selling the phone.

Both of them are working with the stock and GB software? Which ROM are you using with GB? What mic was this with, not the built in headset was it? You have to hold the mic away then speak into the back mic to be sure.

Have you tried Supercurio's app?
I LOVE what it does for sound... makes your phone sound like a high-end device. I have the paid version, but here is the free if you want to try it out.

Yes, I tried and it does not help. Can anyone with an all stock SGS4G test this for me? I learned through some articles that the SGS2 produces even worse quality recordings? So if anyone has a phone without this bug, ill trade you for mine plus some cash. It amazes me that Samsung can put out such wonders of technology plauged by such stupid problems.

You should send @supercurio an email or tweet. The guy is a genius.

Still hoping someone here with a stock SGS4G can test this.
Try with different headsets. I had no problen when i was using froyo stock. Maybe it is the brand not compatible. Only guesses here. Btw if it solves the issue. Give bounty to a dev. Raver, krylon, dsexton or drhonk or whitehawk.

Hmm, using the stock headset it records fine, with the internal mic turned off as it should........
Whats different about the stock headset mic from every other mic ive plugged in???? Is the pinout the same with the mic as the 'sleeve' contact?

Nice try. I offered this to any dev that had a software solution to turn off the internal mic. No one here has taken that up, and im yet to have anyone tell me definitively that the are using a hand held microphone, not a headset, with froyo.

I have been using a Microcell since it was released by ATT. I have use 2 Blackberrys, 1 IPhone, 3 Androids and 1 Blackjack phone with it and have had zero issues.
We currently have 3 Androids using it..1 HTC Inspire, 1 Atrix4g and now my Infuse. We have no issues with any of the phones communicating except the Infuse.
The Infuse works fine as far as Voice calls go. Data and Text messages are a disaster however. About 20 times a day I send texts from home, where my microcell is. About half of them fail....so I resend and resend and resend...sometimes up to 10 times before the message gets sent. I am certain that there is some sort of issue between the Microcell and the Infuse 4g but I have no clue what it could be. I have tried every ROM, Kernel, and Modem I could find but all seem to have the same issues.
Has anyone else had this issue?
What other solutions would you try?
Thanks in advance.

The Microcells are very hit or miss depending on what device you are using. I have a client that has 2 Microcells and one of them we have had no problems with. The other one is replaced and still having issues connecting to it. ATT said that if there is even a hint of normal cell signal it won't connect to the MCell. I don't buy it but my experience with the MCells has been disappointing at best.

I dont know about texting, as i rarely use texting. but I do miss incoming calls. Out going is fine.
but when some one calls me, i dont receive any ring, but the caller listen a ring sound, and it looks like i am ignoring his calls.
If he leaves a voice message, i know that some one called, else its like no one called me.
Recently I got a new vehicle (Toyota RAV4) so I connected my s3. Via Bluetooth. However every rom Ive tried, both tw and aosp have this crackle and pop (snap?) coming through the speakers. I dont know if this is a problem with the phone or the car or rom, kernel, etc but am looking for suggestions. Thanks.

I bought my first GS3 pre order. I had the same crackle coming through any Bluetooth device I used. Since I stream Sirius all day, every day it was a huge issue. So I called vzw and they replaced with a brand new one. But, I was within the first 15 days of purchase. They documented the issue so they should know that some units have this issue. Get it replaced.
I called Verizon and their answer was that it has been a reported issue and that they are working on it with Samsung. I asked about replacing it but their answer was that it would basically continue to happen with the new one they send me and a software issue is the key. Did your replacement fix the issue?
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda app-developers app
Had the same crackle when I first received my S3 with a headset, but not with veh or home dongles. VZW said it has to be the headset. Funny thing is it was only 2 months old and worked like a champ on my DX. Tried a couple of other devices, no problems. Last resort was a factory reset, just for the sake of trying it. Resync'd all BT devices and never had a problem since. Definitely not a confirmed fix, but if kicking the side of the TV worked for dad, I'll give it a try.
Verizon is sending me a new one. I explained that if this was such a small scale issue, then it must be hardware. Otherwise more people would have reported it. And If Im wrong then I'll still have a new unit and will wait for a software patch. Either way I win.

Edit: On a whim I loaded cleanROM and no Bluetooth crackle. This is amusing at best.
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda app-developers app
I found that I got rid of bluetooth crackle by increasing voltages on my custom kernels (i switch between lean kernel and ktoonz). Seems like certain S3s have this problem when running below certain voltages. Currently have my lowest voltages at 925mv and progressive increase with steps, but I read the normal magic number is 1150. Try increasing your base voltages to 1150 (if your on custom rom and kernel of course) and see if that fixes the problem. If it does, you can experiment with lower voltages until the crackle reappears, to find your phones sweet spot.

Have also seen it fixed with kernel changes.
Hmmm. I will try this..

There is no hiss or crackle from either the headset jack or Bluetooth media, Pandora or other third party apps.

So, I'm confused about this:
On CM10, Bluetooth didn't work AT ALL. But I don't know if the 10/12 nightly had the right bluetooth decoding values.
On LiquidSmooth, I could get some audio now, but with constant crackling.
On ParanoidAndroid, I get audio, no problems.
What's the difference here? Is it just voltages? Should I just ask Verizon for a new device? It's been 5 days since I activated this one.

Yeah, I thought I had it working until last night when it crapped out again.
I actually regret going from the iphone to android right now. No single phone seems to be well made.
By experimenting on my drive in, this is entirely related to voltages/CPU speed. I don't have voltage control right now, but just kept upping my core clock until the crackling stopped. Around 900mhz everything became fine. Below 900, BT audio would pop. BT calls would last a few minutes, before suddenly dropping from my car. The car would still show being connected to BT, but the call would suddenly be on the handset.

I can agree with your findings. I have had issue with the bluetooth audio crackling with multiple roms and kernels. I found that by increasing your min voltage to at least 1026MHz that it will make the crackling go away (I am running slim 2.7 / lk v1.4). On some CM10 builds (without flashing a custom kernel), I have noticed that I don't even need to set the min voltage and works just fine. I use bluetooth everyday (car/home/work) and it gets some what irritating when I have to set the min voltage higher every time I connect to bluetooth. Is there any way you can set a custom profile to set the min voltage? I currently use Rom Toolbox Pro and it does not have an option to choose a custom profile for bluetooth. I also tried SetCPU App but it does not seem to work when I set the custom profile with the music app that I use. Any ideas to set a custom profile whenever I connect to bluetooth? Any help would be much appreciated
Just call Verizon and explain your issue. I had the same problems on any Rom and I tested in on several vehicles. They shipped me a new one the next day and no issues.

I installed Cyanogenmod 11 on my HTC One Mini and have been experiencing mic sensitivity issues. People cannot hear me on skype, and when I call people they say it sounds like im holding my mic 10ft away. Is there any apps or tweaks that would allow me to boost the sensitivity of my mic.

The One Mini seems to be having some microphone issues with the CyanogenMod. In my case Viber is very silent and people on the other end can barely hear me. Regular phone calls work fine but only if I'm not using hands-free, with the hands-free the mic problem appears again.
I'm waiting to see if this will be fixed once a stable version of the CM11 is released, we can't expect everything to be working flawlessly with nightly builds
