CM7 is itself a firmware
to install CM7 have a look at this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1324190
This firmware has lot of performance tweaks and features (google them) and is LOT better then the stock 2.2 on the device

Newb question here. I flashed my captivate down to stock rom (2.1 eclair)..can I reflash to the latest ICS flash rom using odin or do I have to update in build order (eclair - froyo - gingerbread - then ICS). I'd like to stick with odin if possible. Thanks again for all the help.
You can jump to any ROM you like. No need to go in any order.

This is true only if you have gingerbread bootloaders. If you dont, you need to flash the gingerbread bootloaders before you flash a gingerbread or ICS ROM.

It depends on who lives where. For example for Europe, the best and most stable are S5670XXKPQ and S5670XWKT2. (Android 2.3.6).
IMO DDKT3 the best fw..
The best one is CYANOGEN 7.2 rc5 full by ankit...
Stable and bug free (for me atleast)

DX is for Asia and XW is for Europe.
I recommend:
- Stock ROM - DDKT3
- ROM based stock - Creed's Rom v2.0
Even if RazoDroid v2.3 is based on DDKT1 is stable and fast if you had stock before DDKT3 ROM installed.
Not speak English, so I use google translate. Thanks for understanding!
The most stable and bug free well be the stock ROM DDKT3.... you also have others like Creeds ROM which are less stable but more feature rich....
xwkt3 is from where??
can i flash my latin version fit with DDKT3 ive been having such and issue because of it being the "L" version
What about XXKPU? This is the latest version in EU (2.3.6) and it seems stable and faster then other versions.
duno, it didnt found me automaticaly my mobile internet settings, so i went back to xwkt2 (croatiian frimware) since i am from croatia too, i think that is best!! eaven for baseband
hi i have a problem with my lg optimus 3d

CyanogenMod 7.2+ v0.2 beta full :/
That is a GB rom. What baseband is on your phone? Go in to settings > about phone and check software version.

Yup, v10k is the baseband. v10k is a froyo baseband. That is why you have no signal. You need to flash a gingerbread baseband if you want Cyanogenmod to work. You can search around the forums for that. Otherwise, you need to flash back to any froyo rom to get your signal back.
Hi same thing happened me install the O3D ThiaiZ ThiaiZ GB v2.7.1 and does not give me no signal and can install the default passes brings froyo, someone who knows how to change the baseband can help me?
you can fix this by flashlight the GB baseband. do a simple reach here, you wont miss it.

Download the preparation kit from the rom. It has all the instructions to flash just the baseband and leave the rom intact.

No problem changing back to GB ... just do a complete wipe, and then install the new rom from recovery. The Oxygen GB roms were generally regarded as some of the very best for the Nexus S. Here is a link to the latest release ... make sure to select the correct version.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=37380882&postcount=13
I suggest flashing this fix afterwards to remove the annoying Welcome to Oxygen message that pops up everytime the launcher redraws too.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=37404157&postcount=24
you can try http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2121632
or you could download and flash the official google images
https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images
i download this 2.3.6 (GRK39F) from google images which kernel is the best

For installing "RECOVERY"-you need 2.3.6 (Gingerbread)
Or else you will end up with same situation as before.
So make sure you are on Gingerbread first
If you already on Gingerbread then no need of that step..install recovery and then flash roms.
If you are on Froyo then flash Gingebread first..then recovery and then roms.

No you can't..
CWM 5 doesn't support froyo and without CWM recovery you cannot flash a rom.

It should have french, because I don't see any firmware specially made for france here..
But whats the point? you are going to root and install a custom firmware anyway right?
I see a german version http://www.hotfile.com/dl/168101698/7eed3f5/S5670XWKTI_S5670DBTKT1_DBT.zip.html
And UK/Ireland (2.3.5) http://www.hotfile.com/dl/147668072/6bc14e6/S5670XWKQA_S5670OXXKQ2_XEU.zip.html
These are the only two european countries here..

Yeah. You can install cwm5 on any gingerbread. After installing cwm5 install your downloaded rom via recovery, take a beer and enjoy
