So, I've had this problem on pretty much every GB ROM I've tried on my Infuse, so thought I'd check here and see if anybody else had the same problem, and maybe a solution...
When I flash a 2.3 ROM, my girlfriend always tells me it sounds like I'm underwater and it's very difficult to understand me. I've had this problem with just about all the 2.3 modems I've tried (but I can't say "all" of them for sure, as I've had quite a few on there, heh). I've had it with Infused and CM7. I've had it with Voodoo and without.
The one thing I know for sure is that I'm on a 2.2 ROM right now and she says it's just fine.
Has anybody had similar experiences?
Thanks!
Sorry never heard of that problem, the only thing ive had its bad sound quality but as low intensity not as " underwater".... it fixed when i flashed the UKK2 modem... try it out hope it helps
I had this experience when I first received the phone. I went back to the at&t store and got a new sim card and that solved the problem. It sounds like your issue may be more related to which rom you are using from what you have said, but if all else fails I would try getting a different sim

I recently flashed to Shav3d on my wing camera worked 1 time then neither the button or shortcuts would work thinking some how i might have corrupted a file or the rom just didn't like me i went over to numb3rs .. still no camera so i jumped back to shav3d again at this time i still have no camera and was wondering if anyone had had this particuler problem and if so if you might be able to reccommend a fix. Thanks ahead of time for your advice and input.
have you tried anybody elses WM6.5 Roms? All the ones listed were made by Ace who isn't doing any updates (Atleast i don't believe he is) but i don't think anyone else had those problems with his ROMs
Good point i'll try another this evening. Open to suggestions on which. didn't figure was a common. Problem as didn't see mention of anthing about it posted. Thanks for the respond.
they are all good... really just depends what you want M2D or titanium or niether.

Yea, that's weird. I would hazard to guess that the phone's hardware is having a problem somewhere. I don't have that problem at all.
As to updates to my ROM's, well, if these TP2 people would stop freakin releasing soooo many ROM's, then I could work on mine! I'm trying to tweak up the visuals, and fix some minor bugs. But there's nothing that really needs a major update, just some very minor things.
But there's millions of ROM's out there now. You can try everything. It's impossible to say which is good now.
Thanks guys ill keep chasing the issue except for that one minor matter i love your ROM's Ace so keep it up
I'm still a noob, but whenever I've done something or tried a ROM that jacked up my wing, I revert back to stock ROM, and try again from scratch. I know it's probobly a long way about the problem, but it works for me. lol! like I said, still a noob. lol.
Sorry to have to resurrect this thread. I'd really like to stick with the numb3rs ROM, there has to be a way to fix the camera; I'm hoping someone knows how.
I also noticed the home screen & tmail randomly crashes when I open a message & it halts on "loading". grr.
Unless anyone knows of a cleaner ROM with a similar UI?
Check to make sure your SD Card is working properly?
Has anyone else been having trouble with the mic? Sometimes when I try to do a voice search my phone doesn't hear me. Nothing to do with noisy environment or anything...just doesn't seem to be on or something.
Recently I installed Vlingo since they finally fixed it for the Sensation. At first it worked fine. Then the next time I tried it I got nothing. When I started a search manually, Vlingo has a sound meter-like graphic and it was like it was picking up lots of noise! Normally, this meter would have nothing visible until you speak but it was as if it was picking up lots of noise or something.
It seems random when my mic seems to fail or not.
Anyone have any ideas???
Hmm, not quite sure what is wrong, this phone is cool, but has all sorts of problems...
I hear HTC is good about replacing your phone though, shoot HTC an email, or call them, I've heard they are very nice about hooking people up with a brand new one at no cost.
May as well try it!
(Please hit thanks if I helped you! Just takes a second!)
I had the same experience with Vlingo recently. Love the app, but they haven't seemed to work out all the bugs. Are you on stock or custom ROM?
Stock T-Mobile. I wonder if it's a Vlingo thing?
I have other issues with the phone (Sense 3.0 keeps rebooting, etc.) but I guess that's for another thread...me too. Love the phone but...

Sorry to drag up an old thread but did you ever find a solution to this? I seem to be having a similar problem with my microphone but I'm not even using Vlingo...
Love the n00b video.....but searched for days and found nothing similar.
Brand new out of the box Nexus S i9020a running Android 2.3.6 GRK39F (was running 2.3.4 til it got the OTA update). Using a T-mobile SIM from and in Germany.
Issue -- When making phone calls, both parties hear scratchy static type sound that makes the voices sounds like aliens. Sometimes nothing is heard even though the call connected. Speakerphone has the same result.
Observation 1 -- When the phone is turned off and turned back on the initial calls works like normal. Subsequent calls have the issue.
Observation 2 -- When using other calling apps (tango, skype, etc) there is no problem what-so-ever.
Resolution attempts -- Tried putting the phone back to the stock 2.3.4 ROM.
Tried flashing the 2.3.6 ROM as well.
Phone is brand new but a return is not possible. I am still confident it is a software issue but I am a n00b so that's why I ask you guys.
Could be an issue with the carrier because you stated that this issue doesn't exist with Tango nor Skype.
Best to call up T-Mobile Germany and ask them to investigate your issue.
Good luck,
deltatux
things to try/check
try flashing a custom rom to see if this clears the issue
make sure the APNS are correct?
try a new simcard

It doesn't happen when using the same service with my SGS or SGS 2 or Tab. That's why I think it's the phone.

Used a US ATT SIM and the problem still occurred.
I will check the APN's when I get home and if that doesn't work then I'll try flashing a Custom ROM.
I will report back my findings. Thanks!
I cant ask this in the Development section under the rom to I am hoping to get some help here.
I recently flashed (this is my 4 or 5th Rom I've flashed so I'm still somewhat new to this) NexusMod 4 UCLA3 2.3.6 to my phone and it has been working great. Up until I started using my headphones (that came stock with the phone) to talk on the phone and answer calls. About 4 mins into a call the phone will say "SIM card ejected. Reboot Phone." if I reboot the phone with the headset plugged in I get the same error. Once I unplug the headset and reboot the phone can see the SIM card again and everything works fine. I am confused about the correlation between the headset and a SIM card.
Is there a setting or something I'm doing wrong to cause this? I know the simple solution is to just stop using the headset, but I love puzzles and cant figure out what would cause this.
That's a really weird problem, I've had no trouble with this rom on my rogers phone. Did you flash the radio first like it said?
Hardware behaviour is usually related to the kernel, so maybe try a different kernel that supports your phone and hope that might fix the problem?
Yep, I made sure to flash the modem first then NexusMod. I'll do some Kernal research (see what works best for others) and try a different one. Any recommendations??
I was coming from SkyICS, but I did the full wipe as instructed. so I'm not sure if this has a influence.

Not sure, I haven't used the stock headphones but I use iphone headphones with a mic for calls with nexusmod4 and it works fine. I use the kernel it came with after trying all the rest of the kernels and having my battery murdered with them I returned to romracer0.3. For me it delivers the best battery life
Sounds like very abnormal behaviour, if you did a full wipe then it's probably a hardware not software thing. Especially if it only happens '4 minutes into a call', maybe your headset itself is doing something funky.
Its not exactly 4 mins into the call, but it does not happen immediately, the times it "ejects the SIM Card" varies. I will try another headset before I start flashing other kernels.
Hey guys,
I tried looking for this issue but I can't seem to find it, I doubt I'm not the only one (I hope I'm not the only one...)
I've been flashing roms for a while now, fiddling with different settings/kernels/etc. and then all of a sudden I'm having issues with my Softkeys. I'll be using the phone and then they just go blank. What also happens is that the Search key gets held down (by a ghost, it seems) and it opens up the voice search option. I've also seen my Back button flicker as if it's being pressed repeatedly.
Right now I'm on CodeName Android 1.4 but I've tried 1.6, CM9 and it seems to be the same issue. I'm assuming that since this is consistant accross all ROMs that it's a hardware issue (I could be wrong) but I'm wondering if this has happened before and if there's a way to fix it.
Thanks gents
Hi friend,
The same happened to me once. It was very weird. I panicked, and locked the phone. Then when I unlocked it everything was as before. It must be some kind of a glitch, coming from CM9 built roms (almost all roms that are around). Try doing a totally clean install with a popular rom and see how it goes.
Now I remember that the same happened once again, when I got a drop of water on my screen, as the touchscreen seems to detect water as a form of touching and then all sort of weird things happened. Hope its a rom issue, not a Touchscreen failure.
Thanks man,
I'm really hoping it's not a hardware issue either as I'm not sure what the process is in terms of sending my phone in for repairs.
I'll try a clean wipe and install tonight and see how it goes.
Thanks again
Update: Alright so I ended up calling Samsung because I had come to the conclusion that it was a hardware issue because every ROM I flashed I had the same damn issue.
I got the ok to send in my phone and all that, I went to return my phone to Stock and when I installed the OEM operating system everything was okay... I seriously doubt that every ROM I downloaded was bugged.
I'm thinking it's just a general glitch or is it possible that 1 ROM I downloaded was bugged and everyone after that inherited the same problem? I don't know...
