My wife and I have had some ongoing issues with our Infuse phones and looked into a warranty exchange. I'd be happy with Gingerbread to see if it fixed some of our issues. Well, called the Warranty line and they are trying to tell me Gingerbread is out for the Infuse via Kies. Before I waste my time and download Kies, does anyone know if this is true? If not, I'll call them back and tell them how wrong they are.
Last I used kies was just to put the drivers on my comp. Kies didn't even support the infuse. That's been several months ago though. For some reason I doubt it.

I am an easy going guy so I wont chew them out but I will get to the bottom as to why they will provide me with false information. I know they are trying to prevent an exchange but at least be honest with me.
I am downloading the full KIES and a KIES mini to see if there is any truth to it. They also had me try OTA and as expected, phone is up to date.

All I get is Unregistered device so of course they are lying about a GB updates Via Kies.

I just got off the phone with AT&T...their solution was to send me a reconditioned phone.
That said, I know there are a lot of ROMS out there...which is the best running GB ROM currently?

Cyanogenmod or Infused
actually MIUI is pretty good too.
JordanElliott just quit updating MIUI for the infuse due to ungrateful flashers. Might go with cw7 or infused roms.

I just flashed back to Serendipity yesterday. the only time i had an issue with it was when everything would force close on me.
but its a awesome rom.
I too am using serendipity7. Using it for about two months except for a few test flashes.

You can take it to a store tech center and have them reflash your phone with it if mini kies isn't working.
Mini kies has been a flaming hot mess more often than not with these updates, so a full reflash at the store is probably not a bad idea anyway.

because the devs all got kicked out on the road and rootzwiki took them in. don't expect any updates or anything other than the few of us older guys checking back to take care of the noobs that post here.

Bottom line: Our developers and users have moved to Rootzwiki. Its still the same users and developers that were once here; same usernames and everything. Everyone's there. Just a new location (and new management).
Whats done is done; the mass exodus has occurred and it can't be changed. So lets quit talking about it. Get on the Rootzwiki boat or stay in ghost town. Your choice.

The official EH09 download isn't Kies. It's a prepackaged update similar to how the Acclaim was.

Just upgraded without kies.
No kies on my Samsung N150 Plus netbook, just installed USCC_I500_EH09_SimpleDL from the US Cellular android upgrade section. Followed instructions (except for battery life, performed this with 81%) phone rebooted, all apps intact including acircuitboard live wallpaper, root apps, contacts, calender, etc...., EXCEPT ROOT ACCESS! Super User gone baby, verified with root check app. guess I'll give GingerBreak a try this weekend, heck I may even try SuperOneClick again to see what happens. Here's a trick for you warranty voider freaker outers, if you brick it, just tell your provider you lost the phone and pay the $50 or whatever dollar insurance claim and get a new GXS.
Obviously no root access, it's a stock official rom.

Don't, that simple. It is NOT a working Infuse 4g ATT Gingerbread rom.
I have a buddy who works for ATT and apparently they're testing it right now, He said possibly within the next week. Believe me or not, your choice. All im telling you is info i have received
You should remove this before too many people try to flash a rom that doesn't work.

IM RUNNING IT RIGHT NOW
what do you mean it's not real? it just hasnt been finalized. it just has the galaxy s shutdown animation, and is missing bootloaders. it is an infuse rom that works nearly perfectly. you can root it with the custom kernels on the forum and flash the stock kernel back to it to get hdmi support back.
maybe people are weird about flashing leaks but this is an infuse rom plain and simple.

havent tested, did you clear data?
EDIT: so far it is working, just logged in. emails updated. i only use gmail, dont know what type of account you put in. might be an issue with data though

I don't know why you're being so adamant about this. Encouraging the inexperienced to install an unfinished rom is pretty much begging them to make mistakes and have a hard time.
The guy that posted the original link in General hasn't exactly been a fountain of information.
im not encouraging, just saying what it is. and it is not a galaxy s rom any more than ucke3 is a galaxy s rom. it isn't fake. it isnt for another phone. it isn't complete or official but it is an infuse rom. oh and the camera records @30fps. so it isnt something somebody mashed to gether and changed the build.prop to fool us either.
I was on the phone with my b2b rep about another phone account when she told me that her system advised they have a new skyrocket coming out tomorrow...after explaining to her that the phone had been out for a while now, she read the actual alert...the alert said that they are pushing an update tomorrow (2/29/12).
Hopefully they push it and it actually works this time.

I've heard of this problem before and its an error on ATT's part. Give them a call and they can reset your sim or something similar to help correct this. I have ukk1 but haven't experienced any problems with texts.

Just got off the phone with my ATT rep. (I work for a 3rd party retailer that sells AT&T) He said he knows about the update and that it isnt going to be ICS just a small one to fix bugs and issues "Stock" users (he knows i mod my phone ) are experiencing and that ICS is still TBA.

2. Huge thanks to leifemagnuson, he gets the credit for finding this, but asked me to take it over.
3. huge thanks to jimbridgman for tearing this apart and generally being awesome at everything
4. Once applying, you can downgrade to GB by FXZ just as before.
5. Jim is making us a flashable zip with the update that includes root.
6. anyone can install that as long as they are totally stock 2.3.6
7. I will build a simple rom based off it, and then maybe more later.
8. Yes, the bootloader is still locked in this
I will add links and stuff later hen we get things under control.

Things I have learned with this update.
1) You MUST be 100% stock, with root before attempting the update, and even then, just wait and do the rooting after the ICS update.
the reason is because the update even checks the sum for the logcat program, which we use to hijack boot for the CWM recovery. I was completely stock 2.3.6 with bootstrap CWM on boot and root, and it would still not update.
2) Use RSDlite for the stock restore, as any scripts tend to do something funny when restoring boot, the ONLY way I got the update to take was to use RSDlite. I tried my scripts and I also tried a few others and it still did not work.
3) As has already been reported, cheesecake does not work on ICS, so you are pretty much stuck here.
4) Do not try to download the update and flash with CWM! Sorry but it will not work, it must be done with the stock recovery.
I am sure there is more, and time comes I will add to this.
Does it have any special features? Anything different from the usual, don't know if you could write a changelog. Sorry if it's too much.

Hello friends, I have a atrix 2, which was in official 2.3.6 GB without root or anything, I got the message of the new version 4.0.4 and update from ota cell, the cell was updated without problems, but in night while he used the computer froze and restarted and since then only turn on, motorola logo shows, and when presenting animation will aT & T is reset and there is nothing more, is a sort of bootloop.
Can you help please?

Hi, all I installed was the Twitter and Facebook, the phone via OTA update and has not passed SoftBrick motorola logo and check this post and understand what is SoftBrick and Hardbrick, I want to know if there is any ICS way to restore or repair it, since I can not go back to GB because it can cause HardBrick.

What i meant by giving you that link was if you posted in there it would have been easy for all to have a look at your situation and help you out.
But anyways the problem you are referring to is definitely a strange one.There is a way to get back to ICS Leak1 but that is for AT&T only and is quite cryptic at the moment.If you don't know what you are doing I won't suggest going forward with that.However with a few trials i was able to get back to ICS Leak1.So what can I say try it if you really want.
A script is also available that is supposed to automate the process but hasn't been tested successfully yet.So that i would definitely suggest avoiding.

A script is also available that is supposed to automate the process but hasn't been tested successfully yet.So that i would definitely suggest avoiding.

well thanks, had seen the post, but I did not dare try that solution, I'll look, thanks friend.
If you really wanna unbrick you can try out the manual method i gave the link in the earlier.It has been reported successful a couple of time and I myself was able to unbrick successfuly.So if you want I can help you with that.

perfect friend, and I tell you when it will do, I will explain my case again.
Upgrade from GB 2.3.6 to 4.0.4 ICS Official OTA update it, Install Facebook and Twitter, the phone froze after a while, and now when reboot starts presents the motorola logo and then restarts and reboots constantly .

idk why man but RSD lite hasnt worked for me every time i tried it for almost a week now lol but i ended up getting the right files together with a batch file to return to OTS ICS if that makes sense lol im pretty bad at the whole windows to linux thing but glad to have my MD865 back in working order forsure
