Malware? Airpush.com shortcuts placed on my homescreen - General Questions and Answers

I got up today to my phone having a couple of new shortcuts on the home screen:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
They open webpages to livemobilesearch.com. The social one opens and is redirected to www.friendfb.com.
Livemobilesearch.com links to airpush.com's privacy policy so they must be related.
http://www.airpush.com/
So, now I need to find out which one of my apps is using this crap.

Air push is a new kind of advertising on android, mostly in the US at the moment.
There is an app called AirPush Detector on the market which will help.

I found the offending app, it was Lock Delay Free. It was mentioned in the user feedback. I uninstalled it and bought the full non-ad supported version.

I got the same thing on my LG Ally today. I used the Airpush Detector and it brought up a live wallpaper I downloaded a week or so ago. I removed it, so that means all I have to do is delete the shortcuts, right?
Also found where you can opt out of ads on the Airpush website. Does anybody think that would be useful?
Airpush.com/optout

Got the same garbage on mine today.
Not impressed....
Airpush detector found it happily though - offending app was also some 'live 3d girl wallpaper' that some mate said was 'awesome' - garbage...

Had this happen when I installed a Lyrics Search app on my phone. Automatically placed 2 shortcuts on my home screen AND sent me an unsolicited advertisement message notification!

I released an app that can block Airpush ads on Rooted devices.
To get more info go to the market: Airblocker

Android Market 3.1.3

Well, Since I havent seen this here yet (Maybe I missed it) I thought I would share it with everyone.
Google has just started rolling out an update to the Android Market 3.1.3. Aside from a few slight aesthetic changes, the two main features include the ability to +1 apps and password protect (PIN lock) your Android purchases.
The addition of the +1 button allows you to, obviously, nab +1 apps in the Market while the PIN number feature allows you to securely set up a PIN number for purchases on the app store.

I have installed it and love it and works great and just thought I would share it with everyone that doesnt yet have it or want to wait for the automatic update (If our heros on custom roms will actually update automatically I don't know).
NOTE: Unless you are updating from v3.0 or higher you may need to uninstall the old market updates in order for this to install.
To do so, go to settings/applications/manage applications. Then tap on "all" scroll down to "Market". Tap on the app and select uninstall updates. Once you have done this then go ahead and install the app below.

Enjoy.
Wow, The more I mess around with this and update apps I really like the changes and it seems to be faster too. +1 for Google!
This version definitely seems much snappier! Thank you for sharing

[Q] How to get rid of this Scareware notification ?

Hi I'm getting this Star shaped icon notification (the picture is also showing what the notification info window looks like when you tick the Star icon):
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
This is what I get when I click on that info window:
I already installed AVG Antivirus for Android but it doesnt remove it. I'm wondering how this notification is able to appear. I guess my system is infected ? How to remove it (and prevent new ones) ?
Look for an app call AirPush Detector in the Market and run it.
(Lookout has an app too)
You might have recently install an app with air push advertisement.

Yea it was the 'Mooie Batterij' app (a very nice looking battery status widget)
Thanks for helping me again ! I'm quite new to Android so I hadn't heard about this Airpush technique yet.
Airpush detector is awesome app to find crap apps like that.

yeah but since I like the App I didn't want to uninstall it and now I use an app called 'Airblocker - Airpush blokkade'. So far it seems to work.

ArVoSurAr Calculator (Area-Volume-Surface Area) - My first Android App

This is my first Android app. Thanks to all the tutorials all over the web and especially on XDA, it wasn't too difficult to get started with Android programming.
This app is called ArVoSurAr Calculator. I know the name sounds weird. ArVoSurAr stands for Area, Volume and Surface Area.
What this app basically does is calculate the three above mentioned values of various shapes as per the input of the user. A pretty simple app to make and simpler to try it out on your phone.
So please do check it out. Don't expect something fancy out of the app, it's a basic program but performs the given task very well.
I was planning to upload in on the Play Store but Google charges $25 one-time charge to publish apps. I'm in no mood to spend that.
So I have uploaded the app on the GetJar Store and even on Dev-Host. You can download it from either of the two places.
The application has few basic shapes to calculate values for. I may think of expanding it, but my first priority to learn new things rather than just expanding shapes which will be good for this app but not good for my knowledge.
Anyways, here are a few screenshots of the app. The GetJar and Dev-Host links to download the app are available below the screenshots.

Anyone else being spammed like hell by XDA right now?

I have never been spammed so much in my life. Every freaking page I open gets this stupid popup. Been going on constantly for the last couple of days.
Anyone else or is it just my [chrome] browser being broken?
I already cleared out all my cookies & cache & everything else but still get this popup on every_freaking_page. STOPPIT. lol
Dell venue spam in pic below. Which btw gets in the way of the quick reply button sometimes.

I had already disabled flash which did the trick, but this looks like a great plugin. Thanks.
We'd like to encourage websites to use straightforward, unobtrusive advertising. That's why we've established strict guidelines to identify acceptable ads, which are shown under default settings. If you still want to block every ad you can disable this in a few seconds.
