Thank you for putting this together! I'm no stranger to rooting but seem to be missing something as I'm unable to get either method to work. Using the phone in USB debug mode and when utilizing the ADB method I get access denied. When I use the .bat it says "no such file or directory" any ideas?

I'll give this a shot in a few hours and post results. Is this permanent root or will it unroot if I reboot? This is my first HTC device, so I'm still a bit nubish. Glad to see someone's working with this phone, though. Besides the single channel audio it's actually pretty impressive.

Holy Crap, third times the charm!! Your like the "Evo Design" man of the year. Many thanks

Ya haha I just got sprint and went with Evo Design and then couldn't go without it. We need a forum >.<

No kidding, I made my request here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1301121
This has got to be one of the quietest HTC releases in some time with little to none Dev interest. I thought my Photon was bad

Seconded. We definitely need a forum. I got this phone 2 weeks ago, so it'll be like 18 months before I'm eligible for an upgrade. I didn't realize there wouldn't be very much enthusiasm for development on this phone. Makes me even more thankful that we have at least one dev on board lol. I'm going to give this is a shot as soon as my little sister gets off the comp.

[App] Battery Icon Mod 1.0

See second post for updates and info about the current status of this project.
Credit for this also goes to a wonderful app developer, appelflap, who wrote the app, provides excellent support and will receive thanks and part of the contributions from the donate version on the market. He is a fantastic developer; I urge everyone who would donate to me to send some his way as well
General Description
Battery Icon Mod is a general app (root required) for turning the standard battery icon into something more useful and more sophisticated.
The (ambitious) goal is to serve mods with this app for as many devices as possible. See second post for the devices/roms that are currently supported.
Important
Make a nandroid backup. I've written a very simple guide how to do this with Rom Manager here. (Really it costs you only a minute or so. Very easy to do)
If you apply a wrong version or you stumble upon a corrupted one (although all versions are tested)... you may ending up with a unbootable device. In that case you have to flash your firmware again... OR just do a simple restore of your backup (I will describe a general restore procedure later on)
Only choose the version that matches your device and rom. Also make sure that the rom version matches your current rom.
Sometimes [/I]mods for a particular rom will also work on another rom. However that's not the rule, more an exception. If you try, make sure you have a backup of your system.
Requests
If your device/rom isn't supported post a request with a copy of your framework-res.apk (it's in the /system/framework directory) with a description of the device and rom you have.
Note: The international Samsung Galaxy S (GT-I9000) will still be supported by this app. Post your requests there. Later these two projects will be merged together.'

Themers and modders
Like to share your modded framework-res.apk? Post it in this thread (with a description of course of the device and rom it is supposed to run on) and we will put a link to it in the app.
Credits
To all modders and to theimpaler747 who made the first steps of this general project possible, and for appelflap, who is an excellent and supportive app developer who does things with apps I cannot . And of course the guys behind UOT Kitchen, who made this work so much more easy. Thanks.
Donations
There's a donation version in the Android Market (search for: Battery Icon Mod). Donations are mainly for paying the server that hosts the mods, and for putting these mods together (theimpaler747). Thanks!
Unfortunately, but needed at this moment:
Two (not tested) restore procedures for if you have a boot loop and didn't make a Nandroid backup.
Both methods require that you have adb installed. If not, download the Android SDK from here: http://developer.android.com/sdk/index.html and find the adb program in the subdirectory "platform-tools".
Method 1 - update.zip method:
Create your own update.zip with which you install the backup of the modified file back in restore mode.
The instructions for this and the tool needed for it can be downloaded here: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/17635874/restore.zip
CREDITS: The tool/script that is used to create the update.zip is another brilliant tool of the creator of APK Manager: Daneshm90. The thread of this tool can be found here (another pearl I found on xda-dev lately (I had to repackage it to make the restore procedure simpler)
Method 2 - shell method
Install and run SuperOneClick and choose "Shell Root"
Start ADB, wait for the # prompt and enter the following commands:
#busybox mount -o remount,rw /system (or mount -o ro,remount -t yaffs2 /dev/block/mtdblock3 /system if there's no busybox)
#rm /system/framework/framework-res.apk
#cp /sdcard/framework-res.apk /system/framework/framework-res.apk
#chown root.root /system/framework/framework-res.apk
#chmod 644 /system/framework/framework-res.apk
#reboot
Again these methods are not fully tested. They "should" work. Feedback is very much appreciated.
(Nevertheless if these methods don't work it should get your guys going in searching in the right direction to get out of a boot looper)
Reserved here from me, thanks appelflap for compiling ours together into a nice application! More phones to come, and please donate to help buy server space if you enjoy this! Thank you

honeycomb bootanimation

Hey all, I know this is old but I couldn't find the honeycomb bootanimation in these forums. I wanted it to fully complete my honeycomb theme for CM7, and after some digging around I managed to find it on another forum.
EDIT:As per request, I've made a few flashable zips for this bootanimation. I've tested each out and they should work if your using CWM3, sorry about the previous posting of flashable zip that didn't work! I've corrected the mistake and hope that you all enjoy this animation as much as I do.
If you haven't completely read this thread and are new to the rooting 'scene' each rom is different, the animations can be placed into different places depending on what your running be it /data/local/ , /system/media/ , or /system/customize/resource/ . It's up to YOU to know where it belongs as I've made each zip for each location. If you don't know where it belongs, get to reading your roms thread in the Dev section and see if there is any information there.
And remember.. NANDROID first!! I will not be held responsible for anything happening to your phone or life because of this. Although if the flash fails you'll either be left with your original animation or a black screen. I'd much rather you use Root Explorer or some other file manager with root access to do this so you'll know where to place the bootanimation.zip in the future.. but thats completely up to you.
Enjoy and let me know if this works/doesn't work and I'll do my best to help you- I'm not a serious developer nor will I take the title of devoloper as I only have a basic understanding of code and how the android system works.
Anyone want to make this a flashable zip? I would be eternally greatful! Also what are the dimensions on this guy? Fit an incredible screen?
Yup I have it running on mine and it looks GORGEOUS.

I've tried other apps that say root explorer, but couldn't get them to work. They might work but I bought root explorer, easy and well worth the money. On two different roms i've used you have to place the zip in system \customize\resource and name it exactly like the existing bootanimation. Same with audio. Example VZW_bootanimation.zip just rename original adding (.bak) incase you need to go back.

I agree, root explorer is a valuable tool if your planning on customizing your phone out. Its well worth the money and has replaced every file manager I've ever used. Great for me since I like to do things on the fly when I'm not home.

What permissions should it have? So far I've been unable to get it to work. I either get the default "android" or a black screen. Either way it boots anyway so I guess it doesn't really matter, but it's just fun to change things around some.

This is what mine is set up as, where have you guys placed the zip file? Depending on your rom you may have to rename it to " vzw_bootanimation.zip " try that out.

[Guide] How to Fix Wi-Fi not working under ICS 4.0.1 & 4.0.3! [With Images]

Good evening everyone, first of all, I wanna thank all the great devs we have @ XDA.com for all the great things they brought us which made our devices awesome..(more than they are already )..
Let me first talk about the problem and why its happening.... After few Trail and error during the use of ICS Roms, I found out that (also did find after few online searching) Android ICS detects your SIM card region (EN, US, AU, UK etc.) and stores it into some sort of Database file, which has all your Carrier info in it. To put it short, if your SIM card (Carrier) is not from -US or UK- u might go into some Wi-fi Problems!!! This is happening because Android ICS, disables Wi-Fi and Bluetooth Functions upon inserting any SIM card not from US or UK.
# Update 1 #
If you're using Firmware 3.24 ~3.25+ u dont have to push any file to system/bin or /binx. Just install Sicript manager and run the script and you're good to go
# Update 2#
There is an APK that has been released to fix that issue in ICS roms, please check the following thread.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1445766
So to fix this, you will have to follow the following steps:
1- Download the files in Attachment ( wifi fix files.zip ).
2- Extract the folder inside to the root of your SD card.
3- Install Root Explorer and Script Manager ( Included In attachment *Free versions* ).
4- Using Root Explorer, go to wifi fix files folder and copy (sqlite3).
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
5- Navigate to System folder.
6- Set system/ R/W .. Past+Replace (sqlite3) it in this two locations
- System/Bin
- System/xbin
*Set permissions for sqlite3 in both locations as follow:
7- Go and Open Script Manager now, and navigate to the folder wifi fix files, and click on ali.txt .
*Set the options as follow
8- now hit run, you should get the following result.
Sucess, now you can use Wi-Fi again with any SIM card
* A side note, after you reboot your phone, you will have to run the script again, but if u had your Wi-Fi enabled before you reboot, u will have problems, so turn W-Fi off, and reboot. then once your devices wakes up and enters lock screen, leave it there till you get signal from your Carrier, and then unlock your lock screen, and script manager should automatically run the script for you. If you dont see that script manager have been Granted superuser permissions after you unlock your screen, just go to script manager and rerun the script, and viola! you can enable Wifi again.
Cheers Fellow Flash Maniacs!

You can also set the option on network change "Net". This way there is no need to reboot, you just turn wifi off then on & it will work without having to reboot again.
Also, it would be a good idea to give credit to who made the script or link to it.
Thanks for the tip bro. it helped me fix the reboot step for ever
maybe developers can put this in their roms? or maybe there is another solution to this prob
Its a general ics issue, gotta wait Google to fix it maybe

Unless you got permission to post Root Explorer, it is unlicensed. Not sure the dev would appreciate that.
Root explorer is a free app, so I just posted it to make it easier for people to use the guide. But if there is a problem even with free apps, ill delete it with no problem: )

Ok, after double checking its a paid app, my bad, ill remove it. although i downloaded it from 1mobile market, and they uslally only have free apps. my apologies to the devs of the app!
I saw on HD2 section, a new fix for This wifi problem, which maybe devs can port and implement into their roms, I hope someone can use this to fix up the problem.
Its in this ROM thread:

Good job man.
This looks great.
Finally all the files I need in one folder.
I mean I know how to do all of it, but now I know what I'm doing, with organization!

I assume you rooted it with Super One Click so I have to ask.. Is this the first time you get into recovery? Have you ever been able to flash roms on this device?
Yea I used superclick, and I have never been able to get into cwm, only stock recovery, haven't flashed a rom....I read the whole cwm post and tried a few things but no luck.....from what I read the recovery isn't copying to the system/bin....but I am determined to get it, rooted every phone I have had since the g1....but any further help would be appreciated...thanks

yeah, it sounds like the recovery binary isn't getting into /system/bin. if you don't mind confirming.... you are extracting the recovery.zip, and putting the recovery file from in there into /system/bin? (then of course you have the update.zip, which is CWM, on the root of your sdcard)
and are you using a file program to paste the recovery file in there? and if/when you do, is it telling you that the file already exists and asking if you want to replace it?
Yea I extract and I am using root explorer and when I paste it, says 1 exsist and do I want to overwrite, I do so and update is on my sd..so I really am at a loss at y it isn't working...read the forums and people are doing the same as I am and it works...so don't know what my options are to achieve a new rom, lol...thanks for the help

damn, ok, that's strange. the only last thing i can think of is, when in stock recovery, you are choosing 'reinstall packages'?
i hope you figure it out, the files definitely work, i just downloaded and used them a few days ago, so i don't know what's going wrong there.
Yea when in stock I choose reinstall packages, but always get the signature verification failed.....and from what I read its because of the recovery.....but I will keep trying and maybe get lucky on one of them....might just odin and redo the whole proccess again...thanks for the help...

That is a bit strange...I can't think of anything in this case. If you do ODIN, I can walk you through it.
I am going to try adb and see if that's the issuse with copy the recovery to the binary folder, thanks for your help

you could try this in Terminal Emulator:
-type su and hit enter
-then do: cp /sdcard/recovery /system/bin
this assumes that you have the recovery file on the root of your sdcard.

These files are not to be mirrored elsewhere, no included in other packages. Its simple already, no need to repackage it.
#Filename differs per firmware, get MotoRoot-1-att.apk for AT&T, MotoRoot-1-vzw.apk for Verizon, etc the -r paramenter is required if installing with adb
adb install -r <filename>
Run MotoRoot app
Press Setup
Install Supersu app
Phone will reboot, and you will be rooted as soon as device is fully booted.
Limitations:
Uninstalling the app will disable root until reinstalled
supersu is not able to update su yet, this will be fixed in an update shortly.
su is maintained in a ext4 img at /data/xbin.img and mounted over /system/xbin at BOOT_COMPLETE.
su is not available for the first few seconds of boot, im working on this.
/system is write protected, even with unlocked bootloaders you can not write to it while booted in Android.
Unroot:
Two choices, factory reset, or press the unroot menu option in the app.
Problems:
Run into a problem? try hittung unroot then re-rooting

We use two vulns in this app, first being 9695860 to gain system user, then a symlink attack of mine to get root from system.

I tried to but I can't find the db entry for entitlement_check... any ideas on where motorola could have hidden it differently?
What are the differences between the Verizon and us cellular versions of the x and could this possibly be used for root of XT1055? I know I'm unlockable, but can't kill my warranty just yet.
