create a shorcut of the contacts, messages and phone on one of the screens, then long press and drag and drop on the menu in the order to replace the game icons.

No when you long press the shortcut the "remove" icon appears at the bottom,so it cant be dragged onto the menu, you can only remove the message icon on the desktop.

I'm trying to customize the homescreen and i have a dock with a little "+" for add, but theres no app to assign to it that can open up the little box like when you press menu>> add or is there something I'm not seeing that i can assign that is like the menu>>add? or is there and app that can simulate the "add" thing where the box pops up showing widget, application, etc

Which launcher? I would try just dragging an app from the home screen onto the dock.

IIRC a long press on the + should give you what you want.

Does anybody know how to change the apps in the bottom menu? I dont use that standard email app and prefer to use the gmail app but cant figure out how to make changes. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
Go to applications -> menu button (first one from left of four lightup on bottom of your phone)-> edit. Now you can move icons from bottom menu

Hit the Application button, then Menu. Hit View Type and select Customizable Grid. Then hit Menu again and select Edit. You can now change the dock icons to whatever you want.

Ah great thanks so much. Worked perfectly.
Wow nice. Found this topic on accident but I am really glad I did.
I didn't know you could move your bottom apps around.

I've noticed that if I long press the home button, a small circle appears surrounding the left corner of the screen. On the circle is a link to Google Search which is displayed as the word Google. My question is whether I can customize app links that come up on that circle and how to do that.

Is there a mod that allows that to change? I know some developers have been working on a mod to change the app choices in the quick launch menu that comes up when the S-pen is removed. Is anyone aware of a similar mod for adding new choices to the long press on home?

Nova Launcher lets you change it. (It doesn't - silly me)

Thanks for pointing it out - amended my post.
Well, have the phone for a week now and still couldn't figure out how to add shortcut to lockscreen.
No app nor widget... Only accessible is the pre-installed Google search
Is this specific to MotoG or Android 4.3????
There are few apps on the Play, but I would like to know if there's native support for lockscreen apps/widget on MotoG or not.
UPDATE
Nevermind. Just figure it out.
When lockscreen active press the power button and either very left or right side of the screen press and slide and it show new "tab" with + and there you can add widget. However, it shows actual data (SMS, Email) so any one can check it ( so much about privacy!!!).
Why the hell Moto couldn't add simply notification???
UPDATE 2 :
The camera shortcut (far right) can not be changed/deleted.
You can ad up to 7 widgets ONLY (no apps!).
To delete/change shortcut, briefly press Power button slide to desired tab and press and hold until you see X Remove on the top. Just pull up the page toward it and it will be removed and you can add another widget.

@aspot72,
Use Better DashClock from Play Store
I love the new ideas for MW. I have a suggestion, if you swipe up (or left in portrait) the bottom app replaces the top one and left or right would remove it from the stack. It would be consistent with the card ui. Also I'm a fan of halo as a notification manager, but I don't like the floating window for multi-tasking. Would it be difficult to open the notification in multi-window instead?

Also instead of long pressing on the recent app to add an app to the split screen, maybe a small app that is essentially just an app drawer would be a smoother alternative.

1- navigation bar multiwindow button (to be long pressed)
2- all apps displayed in two split screens
3- clicked app opens on the respective side of the screen.

Earlier i has designed the multi window button in the top left side of the "recent apps"screen. but that increases the number of click. I thought multi window should be fast and seamless.

That's why I would make an app drawer. it would be one click and the first app in the stack could be used to launch any others. Plus it can be launched with a quick gesture in most launchers
