[Q] Losing texts or texts not sending with ARHD? - HTC Sensation

I don't know if anyone else is having this same problem but I'm not receiving some texts while using the ARHD ROM. I'm using the 3.6.5 XE one. I downloaded Ghostly SMS hopefully to counter this but is there a true fix for it where i wouldn't need to use this app. Is it because of this ROM? or the Android Version the ROM is running on?
Also, I'm using GOSMS Pro if that helps with anything. I also just installed Faux -25uV kernel after i heard of this problem. but i installed the new kernel hopefully to fix my poor battery life issue. (which i know probably is caused by the battery stats being wiped, i just did it anyways)

Hi,
Just to let you know that I have never had a problem receiving or sending texts.
I have disabled the stock SMS app,and I only use Go SMS Pro.
Try just having a single SMS app working at one time.
In terms of the battery stats being wiped. That will not affect the battery life.
The kernel that came with the ROM was the problem.
By upgrading to Faux's latest, you probably cured the problem.
Best thing with the battery stats is to let your battery discharge, then charge it to full. With the wire still plugged in,clear the battery stats in 4EXT,then keep charging it for another 30 minutes.

Use CM7 and it will work.

Thanks for the responses. I figured out it might be something with the RAM. Originally I had 7 homescreens, with Sense Widgets on each and I never really realized that my RAM was always constantly below 100MBs. Once i deleted some of these widgets and turned on autokill for some apps my RAM has now been 150+ and so far no texting issues.
I still have Ghostly SMS installed as a backup in case anything happens.
And Faux's kernel seems to have fixed my battery issues. I'll let the phone die and then charge it to full and kills the stats though.

SMS GO high battery consumption

I installed Go SMS pro last night for the first time because I was having some MMS issues with handcet and the stock message app.
Well, today while I was at work I noticed my battery was draining much faster than usual. I checked what was using all of the juice and SMS GO had used 14% of my battery. I received one text and sent one text over the ten hours I was at work.
Anyone else ever experience this? I can never remember my message app ever even registering a level on the old battery usage before today.
I am running Synergy ROM and IMO's 3.4.0 kernel on battery saver mode if it matters.
Thanks
I've noticed that use of any keyboard tends to eat a bit of the battery more so than SMS did. I've been using GO SMS for a decent bit now, and it's always better keyboard or stock keyboard that uses up more battery.
I would check to see what SMS plugins you have running with GO, and possibly change it to GO SMS Lite, which you can do under the settings because 14% is a lot for what you're saying.
A bit off subject, but I've found that the Froyo ROMS are FAR easier on battery than the gingerbread leaks.
This is my guess. You tried sending a mms on 4g or maybe even 3g and had a data issue causing it to get stuck sending all day. I've had that happen before with go SMS but only once and I really like the app over handcent. Should have less data issues soon thanks to the OTA from Verizon. If it made the stock rom snappier, cm7 will be flying. My data connection was ****ty till I flashed mr2.5 radio.

I run go sms, just check battery stats, and its not draining any battery unless its in use. I really like this app over stock or handsent

go sms doesn't cause battery drain. ive been running it for over a year with zero issues.
Yeah, you wouldn't really think that a messaging app would draw such an obscene amount of power. I really wish I had taken a screen shot of the outrageous % of battery it was consuming. Hence the reason for my post.
To the other poster: Nope, didn't send an MMS. I received a one line SMS from my wife and I relplied with a one line SMS. I took your advice and tried running in lite mode, but that only helped a little.
After rebooting and fully charging my battery overnight and making certain that I was in lite mode, I still experienced a power draw. At ten this morning my battery was draining again and I saw that SMS GO had consumed 6% of my battery and this is with no texting at all.
I uninstalled. Too bad, because I really enjoyed the UI much more than either the stock or Handcet app. Anyway, thanks for your help.

What is the name of the app youre using to check battery stats
I don't think GO SMS uses a lot of battery, I've been switching between GO SMS and HANDCENT, I really like the look of handcent(not the popup), but GO SMS definitely is faster no doubt, and less battery I think...

[Q] Massive Battery drain

Hello,
I've got a huge problem with my battery. I use the Android Revolution HD 3.6.11 with OC Daemon 1,5 GHZ. I've also installed the recommend radio and wiped my battery stats. CurrentWidget tells me that the average battery usage is about 53 mAh without Wi-Fi and 559 mAh with Wi-Fi. Also, the app "Wheres my Droid Power" tells me that 17,07 percent go to HTC Sense.
Do you have any tips how to fix this battery wasting ?
Thanks in Advance
Unlocer
I have the same problem, only the most usage of the battery is going to the Display and I don't know why. if someone could explain will be very helpfull.
I use the same rom and all.
my mobile HTC Sensation XE
Thanks
i have the same problem even though i'm still on 3.6.8 but i'm gonna flash 3/6/11 today
The best things I have found for battery drain is to make sure you do a full superwipe before every ROM flash, Lower the brightness of the screen (change from auto), disable tactile feedback, turn off BT, Wifi, GPS etc. when not in use (Tasker is very good), Also perhaps change your radio, if it's not for your area it could be sucking a lot of battery.
Hope this helps, but like i said this is what works for me, I also noticed that MIUI has great battery life and even now that im on ICS its great, Also just buy a bigger battery, I currently have 2 x 2450mAh, one in my cradle and one in the phone.
i have the battery drain problem alsao. i test with many different roms ,and Before install any rom, i always did wipe data/factory reset- cache- davik cache. Then format system. But it can't solve the problem. I monitor the battery with current widget app, and its log always show my battery drain from 60 mah to >200 mah (every 5 mins) when my phone in sleep mode (with : no auto-sync, wifi off, even data off, no gps, facebook, mail...is sync every 4 hours)...The lowest result i got is 9mah but it's not stable. I just don't know what is happening with my phone. Sorry for my english.
flash the bricked kernal thats the biggest battery saver tip.
What Radio Are You Running
I am having a problem and it started after I did the firmware flash upgrade and I was curious what radio you are running as stock. I am in Phx, az

I would download and flash the superwipe script before flashing any ROM rather than doing that stuff manually. Some users have reported that when they flashed the ROM again it sorted it out.
Deleting htc peep account in synchronization & accounts has also been reported to work in some cases.

1. i did flash super-wipe.zip before installed roms too.
2. i don't have HTC peep under synchronization, and never log in to HTC account

FYI, i am currently running OneICS 1.04 senseles rom. After i installed this rom, i fully charged my phone . 19 hours later with very minimal usage, my phone have 30% left.(screen up time is about 2 hour only).

I also used Super Wipe before installing the ROM. And I never activated a HTC Sense account, aswell.
I tried the Energy ROM now and I have to say, the battery life is much better than in Android Revolution.
Had the same problem myself, that's why I switched to MIUI.

random reboots with weapon

alright when I use weapon 3 on stock kernel I get random reboots when I am not using it or I would have to pull out the battery in order to use it. I have done format system, data, cache, dalvik and then used g2x scrubber and I install it through my extrenal SD. tsugi on stock so far had no problems. I want to use weapon though because my battery life with tauting is horrible. with light use I can only use about 7 hours with set CPU lowering the clock and having it set to the lowest clock on screen off.

This is a known issue for G2x, it varies from phone to phone, and for rom to rom. Devs are working hard to reduce this, but trust me, they re not as bad as stock...

yes I do realize that custom roms are better than stock but my brother has weapon and his battery life is phenomenal! he can use his phone for 2 days and he isn't using any CPU optimizer or juice defender while I am using all those on tsugi rom and still only get about 7 hours of light use. iono maybe I am doing something wrong with tsugi rom?

Setup your phone just like your brother's and swap fully charged batteries then give your phone to him to use and you use his (this is to try to have your phone tested under the same use as your brother uses his phone) to find out if the problem is the phone or the battery. If your brother's phone with your battery in it doesn't last as long or nearly as long as it did with his own battery in it, then it is definitely your battery. If, while your brother uses your phone with his battery in it, your phone doesn't last as long as his phone does with his battery in it, then it's your phone. Your phone should still be under warranty so, if you need to get service you will know what needs replacement.
Try phoenixblood rom with faux kernel, no reboots and great battery life!
Sent from my LG-P999 using xda premium
I'll +1 that for PhoenixBlood
plus: if you are having any stability issues, remove everything that might cause that, including CPU "optimizer" and Jdefender. They could conflict with the kernel. OTB PhoenixBlood is really great for speed and battery.
Also, if you've had previous problems, such as overheating, you may have damaged your battery. I'd first try running your brother's battery (with his permission), to see if that changes things. One rule to use is that you shouldn't change more than one variable at a time if you care to know what it is that fixed it. Changing ROMs, phones, batteries, SIMS and SD cards all at once will maybe fix the problem but it won't tell you what you did to fix it.
Maybe you're just undervolting too low? My phone can hardly handle it so I usually just don't mess with it.
Keep stock kernel.
thank you for all your replies. I have tried pheonix blood and liked it but even on stock or faux kernel I still get reboots. I did not download those extra applications either. so I am back on tsugi stock kernel and it has no reboots yet, but I found that if I enable the toggle 2g application that came with it and set the radio frequency to wcdma only, it increases the battery life by a lot. I can now go through the whole day with about 50 percent with light use. I do like pheonix or cm7 better though because I feel that it is going to keep updating for the better. also it seems customizable. I was wondering if there is a way to record when the phone experienced a reboot or sod to a log so I can find out why?

[Q] ROM ICS 4.0.4 Battery Issue

Hi there,
So I just flashed this ROM : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1474878
It was last night, I hopped that battery issue drain by Cell stanby~Android System would be fix, but it didn't worked for me..
I flashed the ROM correctly, everything was OK. Wiped data/cache/dalvik and even formatted /system.
I don't understand why, my battery is really strange, sometimes I lose only 2 or 3% during many hours, other times I lose 20% per hour (with inactiv use).
I never had battery issue before ICS.
I got a Nexus S i9023, I hope some of you gonna be able to help me, I really want to fix that battery !
Best regards,
SpawN-
flash a rom that doesn't suck your battery! Or try some kernels that helps you to save battery
Yea sure, but this ROM was just here for the problem with battery, so it had to fix the problem, but didn't work for me, that's why I don't understand =/

sounds like it could be gremlins, or an app app wreaking havoc. also, apps that need to check for notifications drain battery quickly. i usually turn off all notifications(except gtalk/gmail).
I don't have any apps making annoying notifications, my Wifi and 3G are OFF and I often use Task Killer to kill useless processus.
I read that the porting of 4.0.4 for ns gsm was really smooth and battery save
This ROM wasn't even intended for your phone. All bets are off for stability...forget about battery life.
Seriously, though the behaviour you're seeing may not be the ROM. It could be programs keeping the phone awake during standby. To confirm, there's an app called Better Battery Stats on market (and in the Android Development and Hacking section on these forums) that may be able to help you figure things out.

Hello,
Have you tried to change your RADIO ?
try this kernel *Matr1x* with BLN and voodoo v16.0
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1361477
I think it would be help.
For what i've seen the 4.0.4 version was just a leak so there could be some issue/bug. Maybe is better to stay with a custom Rom+kernel and wait for the update or for a custom kernel based on oficial realease 4.0.4 version.
cheers.
The only battery fix in 4.04 was the android os stats being logged incorrectly, i.e. too high.
That has been fixed in 4.04.
I don't think there ever was a cell standby/android system logging bug.
You may be mistaken.

Nexus S 4G Roms?

Hi, I've searched the forums a bit and every thread I saw relating to this topic was a bit outdated so I've decided to create a new one.
I recently got the Nexus S 4G and rooted it, I've been using Slim ICS and it seems to give me issues and the battery life is horrid. I'm wondering if some people can give me their opinions on the Roms/Kernels and set ups that have yielded the best performance and battery life. I don't use my phone for much but music, surfing the internet (very seldom) and texting/making calls.
Thank you everyone in advance.

Thank you guys for the input, I will check those out when I get off of work. Anyone else have any suggestions? I'll probably spend the next few days flashing and testing them out.
Codename Android coupled with air kernel is extremely stable and quick as any other ROM and battery life is good. Also it has a good amount of launcher and status bar customization.
If your looking for speed though, Apex is undoubtedly the quickest in terms of windows opening and closing.
I'll check out Codename as well. As for kernels and things like that, what is the best governor and kernel, or is that all dependent upon which ROM I'm using?
In terms of speed, stability and battery life; I'd rather have stability and battery life over speed if that makes any different. All 3 would be lovely but I'm more concerned with stability and battery life. If the phone won't stay on or stay charged it won't matter how fast it is.

Kernels do their own thing as far I know. I usually use noop with smartassv2 or wheatley. And as I mentioned before air kernel is REALLY nice and stable.
I've been using the predecessor of Apex because of 1.0.2 issues on my phone and its really quick just like apex because its basically the same and it doesn't really sacrifice battery life at all either. I would give it a go. Its bigxie 3.5 on his "all crespo4g builds" link in the original post

Hi,
I use the SLIM ICS Rom and Im getting awesome battery life....
Hmmm did you change anything on it?
Are you turning off the internet, wifi, gps and sync when not used?
Did you clear battery stats? This is normally best when you flash any ROM.
Or maybe a widget or app is doing the draining.
I would recommend reflashing it with the March 4th update just to make sure.
Good luck
SLIM ROM has great idle, and you can always use the battery saver mode... with this you can have the ROM turn off syn, wifi and data all by itself when screen is off... check it out

Wow, I'm a moron. I remembered seeing the Power Saver and always thought I had checked yes, I hadn't just the individual settings. I've now updated to 2.8 ICS Slim and I'm going to see how that goes.
Wondering if anyone else has had this issue after root, I have the voicemail icon (which I hate) but when I click it, it dials *86 and I get a wrong code message. What exactly can I do for one to check my voicemail and second get rid of that annoying icon?
Thank you everyone for the input.

Just make sure u tell the power saver mode what to do under the settings... the default may not be what u want....
RU using Google voice? If so the only reason u would change *86 to ur phone # would be to call sprint VM.... if ur using GV then it will automatically download to ur phone without using minutes to call regular voicemail
I was at 1st against GV but now it comes in quit handy like the original sprint VM ...
Go under GV settings and have the notifications set how u want them. U may have to go desktop version of GV to customize all the settings... just to make sure.
