alright when I use weapon 3 on stock kernel I get random reboots when I am not using it or I would have to pull out the battery in order to use it. I have done format system, data, cache, dalvik and then used g2x scrubber and I install it through my extrenal SD. tsugi on stock so far had no problems. I want to use weapon though because my battery life with tauting is horrible. with light use I can only use about 7 hours with set CPU lowering the clock and having it set to the lowest clock on screen off.

This is a known issue for G2x, it varies from phone to phone, and for rom to rom. Devs are working hard to reduce this, but trust me, they re not as bad as stock...

yes I do realize that custom roms are better than stock but my brother has weapon and his battery life is phenomenal! he can use his phone for 2 days and he isn't using any CPU optimizer or juice defender while I am using all those on tsugi rom and still only get about 7 hours of light use. iono maybe I am doing something wrong with tsugi rom?

Setup your phone just like your brother's and swap fully charged batteries then give your phone to him to use and you use his (this is to try to have your phone tested under the same use as your brother uses his phone) to find out if the problem is the phone or the battery. If your brother's phone with your battery in it doesn't last as long or nearly as long as it did with his own battery in it, then it is definitely your battery. If, while your brother uses your phone with his battery in it, your phone doesn't last as long as his phone does with his battery in it, then it's your phone. Your phone should still be under warranty so, if you need to get service you will know what needs replacement.
Try phoenixblood rom with faux kernel, no reboots and great battery life!
Sent from my LG-P999 using xda premium
I'll +1 that for PhoenixBlood
plus: if you are having any stability issues, remove everything that might cause that, including CPU "optimizer" and Jdefender. They could conflict with the kernel. OTB PhoenixBlood is really great for speed and battery.
Also, if you've had previous problems, such as overheating, you may have damaged your battery. I'd first try running your brother's battery (with his permission), to see if that changes things. One rule to use is that you shouldn't change more than one variable at a time if you care to know what it is that fixed it. Changing ROMs, phones, batteries, SIMS and SD cards all at once will maybe fix the problem but it won't tell you what you did to fix it.
Maybe you're just undervolting too low? My phone can hardly handle it so I usually just don't mess with it.
Keep stock kernel.
thank you for all your replies. I have tried pheonix blood and liked it but even on stock or faux kernel I still get reboots. I did not download those extra applications either. so I am back on tsugi stock kernel and it has no reboots yet, but I found that if I enable the toggle 2g application that came with it and set the radio frequency to wcdma only, it increases the battery life by a lot. I can now go through the whole day with about 50 percent with light use. I do like pheonix or cm7 better though because I feel that it is going to keep updating for the better. also it seems customizable. I was wondering if there is a way to record when the phone experienced a reboot or sod to a log so I can find out why?

Hello I have run both the stock cm7 and cattleprods 4.3.1 with smartass
Even going as far as to use SetCPU profiles to reduce CPU to 245 min/Max on screen lock. Im able to squeeze 11-12 hours with decent usage
from what I unslderstand reading the lord UV kernal people are lacking hsupa which is something I rather like. And while im ok with 12hours usage if something unexpected it long dinner party after work, im SOL
Any help or tips would be great

HSUPA seems to be hit or miss on the LorDmod kernel which is strange because it's based off the CM7 kernel by Kali-. I changed my APN and my HSUPA speeds came back, at least what's normal for me in my area (3.5mbps down/2mbps up).
I was pulling a little over 48 hours out of the -25mV undervolt BFQhs version before it needed a charge or it wouldn't last the next day. I'm currently running the Pinky Ultra Undervolt version and will see what kind of battery life I can pull out of it.
Wrong forum for this. It should be in general but the lordmod kernel probably isn't the hsupa killer it was probably the radio swap I did. I fixed it but it was a PITA!

Do you just flash the lordmodV4.4.1-BFS-BFQ.zip file in recovery?
What do you do with lowervoltages-25.zip?

Wipe Cache and load the 2 .zip files just like a ROM. Hopefully you won't lose HSUPA like I did (I still think it was the radio swap but I refuse to try this again as it was a pain to fix).
Sounds good. Ill report back with my findings regarding the HSUPA and overall batt improvements.

I'll tell you the -50mV kernel mod froze the phone numerous times when opening an app to where I had to pull battery. The -25mV mod didn't help at all for my battery life. My phone drained same as always which is terrible but not great either.

I'd say go with BFQhs CFS or the V(R) I/O flavor (edit: scratch that, looks like he pulled the VIO one until tomorrow), they're supposed to be faster than the others. The non-undervolted kernel might give you fine battery life so there's a possibility you won't need to undervolt at all. Also, flashing an undervolt patch is optional.
Unlike Mustang, my phone responded extremely well to the -25mV but seemed to go back to typical drain when I switched over to -50mV. And it seems like it's enjoying the Pinky ultra undervolt so far. Like LorDmod says, try them out and see what works.
Flashing the kernel's simple,
Do a backup
Reboot in to recovery
Clear /cache
Clear Dalvik cache
Install kernel zip
Install undervolt zip (optional)
Reboot and enjoy
This is just my experience - during extensive testing for my APN modification thread I ran multiple versions of lordmod and never lost HSUPA speeds from the kernel itself. Any loss of speeds were due to other issues which were identified and corrected.

Yeah like I said I'm 99.9% sure it was the change in radio that did me in but it just so happened to be just before flashing the kernel and I didn't notice till the next day I lost HSUPA. I personally will stick with stock CM7 kernel just because I messed with my own head lol.
I just flashed the kernal last night with the -25. HSUPA is still intact. Ill report back on Bat life

I have only tried -50mV with the latest LordMod which after 2 days is giving about same battery life as stock CM7 (about 20-24hr with moderate use). I cannot explain how -25mV gave you better battery life. I don't understand how much the other 2 version undervolts.
As a whole now tried OC/UV on both the Captivate and the Inspire, I have not noticed a significant difference in battery life with either of these phones. Also it seems like all the ROMs give me about the same battery life, and the whole thing about re-calibrate your battery if you don't flash with a full battery hasn't held up for me either. I can flash a new rom with 30% battery or 100% my battery drain remains unchanged.

My experience mirrors yours. No matter where my battery is when I flash a ROM the drain remains the same. I've also done the whole wipe of battery stats and no difference either. It lasts me long enough as I charge it overnight anyways while I sleep so oh well I'm not too worried about it anymore really.
I recently removed the battery percent from the status bar. All I ended up doing was obsessing over it and had to see where it was all the time. So now I just use the gauge and feel better about the battery lol and not even focus on battery too much unless I'm away from my charger for an extended period of time.
I use lord mod 4.4 and I have hsupa. I never lost it.

That is because your device can't handle it, every device handles it differently.
As an example, my device handles UUV fine, but when attempting to use PUV it boots, but with any random reboots and application FCs.

Trust me, it makes absolutely no logical sense to me either. It seems to really like the PUV version as well so I'm not complaining.
For me, there is a noticeable difference between the stock kernel and undervolting. Stock CM7, my phone drains at around 3% per hour. Undervolted, it's slightly less than 1% per hour and possibly even better with PUV.
With the CFS BFQhs and -25 UV I got another hour and change. I feel like I used it the same maybe more. Im gonna try another one of his kernel and maybe the -50 or UUV see if NY device can hang with it.

So, after trying out many other roms, I've come to the conclusion that WeaponG2x is the one that works for me. However, I was also wondering if it was stable and smooth because of the stock kernel or is it the rom?
I've been using Weapon for a week and a half now and it runs smoothly, never crashes on me, never have to pull battery, and I did realize that battery was better than the previous roms.
Now I want to know if I should use any other custom kernel(overclocked or not)? The roms runs great, except I noticed that it lags a bit here and there, but not too much. Like when i'm downloading an app, the screen will be still for like 1 milisecond when it's installing. That's probably the trade off for the decent battery life, but I'm not sure.
So what kernel are you guys using with Weapon? Let me know, I've been thinking about using Faux kernel, overclock it to about 1100 with SetCPU. But im worried it'll have a major impact on battery life.
Thanks.

That lag when installing apps is an Android problem, not ROM. I believe Google fixed that in ICS. If it ain't broke no need to fix it is what I believe, so I say just stick with what kernel you already have.
But if you really wanna try something new then try the Dragon Kernel that was repacked by Mr.Apocalypse. Or you can try Faux's. But make sure you try the one that's for the 2.3.3 GB OTA by Faux, not the CM7 version.
Stay with stock kernel. Since no drivers for the kernel were ever released, technically stock is the best aside from the tweaks, but then it becomes a sort of ported kernel.

You will get best battery life/stability on your stock weapon kernel. If you want to oc go with faux but prepare for noticible bad battery life.
P.s. try pheonix blood on stock kernel way better imo

Wise choice. Weapon is a great rom. Back it up and try "new clip". Follow the instructions and give it time to settle. There is a new updated weapon rom coming soon. In new clip you will get fast GPS locks. Fast/quick interface. Very nice. The one quibble is clock placement.

I ran weapon r1 and new clip and you are right both are the bees knees. The gps fix in new clip was an unreal change in fix time as well! Good luck with the weapon!

I have always used weapons and Faux is the way to go. I use setcpu and I run my processor at 1.552 when the screens on and. 389 when its off and I get over 15 hours per charge with moderate use. Just customize the profiles in setcpu to your liking.
Weapons for life!
What exactly is this "New click"? Is it a new weapon mod?
Anyways I have been using weapon r1 3.0 for about a week now, everything is stable and smooth, however gps isnt exactly the fastest, often it doesnt even lock indoor (which, my old phone does). Takes roughly 15s-1m to get a lock outdoor too. I personally think that is slow.
Other than the gps, i am fairly satisfied with the WeaponG2x_30_R1_1022.

Sorry for the typo. It is "New Clip". New Clip is new revision by Kwes1020. He has taken ownership of the rom now that the original dev no longer has a G2x. GPS is much improved and the entire interface has been tweaked for a smoother faster response. It is flashed over Weapon from CWM. It retains all your settings, apps etc. It is a worthy upgrade. Soon there will be an all new version of Weapon, but for now it is the best solution.Try it, you will like it.
Yep... I've tried about 3 or 4 roms before I came up weapon.... This is definitely the most stable by far. Have no issues with it in about 3 weeks now. Also don't suffer from the SoD anymore either.
Tried CM7 Stable looked nice but had SOD issues on lock
then i used root explorer to flush out the bloat ware and ran that for a few hours and backed it up and installed
weapon_r, only problem seemed to be if i rebooted i had to re install from backup need for speed and the nova demo. or they would crash boot on start. but
just flashed new clip and after reboot no lockup on need for speed or nova!
love this rom.....everything works and lots of options. nice and fast (maybe too fast) i was used to a ginger lol optimums t that i gave to my mom after disablement of data(she can use wi fi) i'm not paying for a data line for her.
I tried out faux's kernel but I don't like it. Either it's the kernel or setcpu's default values, but my phone keeps turning off randomly over night.
How do I go back to weapon's kernel without flashing the whole rom again?

All settings should be retained. I remember reading somewhere that when you change kernels, you should go into application management and clear data and cache from SetCPU or some of the old settings will be used. Not sure if that's true or not. And actually, maybe that was the original problem for you on faux's kernel. *shrug*
I didn't have SetCPU prior to faux kernel... I wanted to try overclocking and my phone would randomly shut off. So I just left the values at default and it still did it.

If your using go launcher you can set the swipe up and swipe down on your homescreen to do stuff I disable it cause its annoying.
Edit: On your homescreen (assuming you have go launcher) > preferences > gestures > glide up > select the option 'disable'
Make sure you do the same thing with "glide down" option.

My fiance has had her charge for a while now and she is starting to get fed up with the battery life and lag. We have gone as card as turning off the 4g but she is still unable to make it through the day on a cullen charge with very little use. What rom would be best for improved battery life while maintaining the look and feel of touchwiz?
Thanks

I would say your best bet is eclipse or tweak stock. Not really touchwiz but very great roms.
Eclipse thread can be found here

Tweakstock you'll see in development section.

I recommend using eclipse or tweakstock for a rom. But you may want to just try imnuts custom kernel first and under volt the cpu. http://rootzwiki.com/topic/137-01-30-12peanutbutta-jelly-time/ That would improve the battery. If you're still not satisfied then try a rom with the kernel.
If you phone is ROOTED. You can download "battery saver" by Antutu from the Market(free) and try out for 2 days. This may help you with your battery without too much hassle.

What!! I'm running it right now with Tweakstock and PBJ kernel and it really really save me battery big time. I have tried to under volt, and turning off 4G, lower screen settings etc.. not help. Max I can get is 6-9hrs. After installed this, I hit 15 hrs normal use and 20hrs light usage. It controlled the CPU frequency and put my phone in very deep sleep. If I just make 1hrs of total calls and 20-30 text I can hit 20hrs easily. If I used Facebook heavily (65% screen on, about 3hrs total), I get 6-8hrs. Something is funky with your setup. During testing I uninstalled and reinstalled this app couple times and never any issue. Do me a favor while you're back to fresh stock, rooted and pop it back on see if it's working. I'm happy to provide screen shots if you don't believe me.
BTW, I have wifi,4g,gps on 24/7. While I'm in my house it automatically used wifi and when I'm out on the road it switched to 4g automatically. The samsung factory feature is working fine too.
Thanks for all the suggestions. I think I might give tweak stock a try

The last few ROMs I tried, Tweakstock, Infinity, Gummy...all were very laggy. Didn't seem to matter what I did or how I did it. Camera was always a crap shoot on whether it would freeze up or not. I finally said the hell with it and went back to stock and then just plain rooted it. So far so good. It sucks cause I hate TW and the look of stock...but at least the phone is responsive.
Try Eclipse
You should really give Eclipse ROM a try. It is extremely smooth and fast....very responsive and the devs and community over at the site are very helpful if you run into problems. Yesterday, with light use, my phone was at 60% (15h 11m 25s on battery) at the end of the day. Best battery life I have ever gotten out of my Charge yet. Give it a try....you will not be disappointed.
Sounds more like something with the way you are flashing and/or your data restore. I would suggest that if you ever flash anything again you start from a totally clean slate
Charged up post!
I did flash from a clean slate multiple times, first few days the new builds seemed OK. After awhile it just got worse and worse. I've been on the rooted stock build for over two weeks and it still is pretty good. I'm done tweaking this phone, I'll have an upgrade option in May and then I will probably get the Nexus or wait a bit if something else worthwhile is coming soon.

Agree...everything runs perfect on Promethuis....currently on V1.3 and its just awesome. Camera shutter is so much faster (and 3d button becomes camera button, boots fast, and everything runs as it should. No GC either.
But you will need V21e baseband and this ROM for no GC.

I did update my phone to v21e so I guess my baseband is also v21e. Will try this ROM and coming back with impressions.

I hear 1.4 is awesome. My phone didn't like it for some reason and had terrible battery drain. Just try it for yourself and if you have problems just use 1.3.

I have tried use 1.4 BUT had terrible battery drain
Maybe I'll use V1.3 with stock kernel ? or 1.3 kernel ?

Just to clarify, this is a feature introduced by LG in all Gingerbread ROMs.

I used the 1.3+ kernel and it worked great for me. I had great battery life and it was really stable. Give it a try and if you don't like it then you can use stock. Maybe you could try 1.4 with the 1.3 kernel and see if that would get rid of the drain. Mix and match is what I would suggest!

I am just about to install 1.4. and will first try with stock kernel.Just last night I did full charge and went to sleep,in the morning battery was at 94% and everything was off no wifi,no 3G,no new messages and no alarm. Will test today and check which kernel is working best for me.

Was very happy with 1.3 so haven't tried 1.4. From the logs it is only a few minor tweaks.
Also using v1.3 Promethius Kernel. Battery is quite good. One full day based on moderate usage. Say 1 hour web, 10 mins talk time, 1 hour music, and 20 texts. Generally turn off 3G and Wifi unless required.
Although each battery charge seems to yield different results??? Got barely 3/4 today, based on same usage....a little inconsistent for battery drain.
Will try Thiaiz once the V21e version is complete.
And to clarify...using 1800mAh battery which holds a bit of extra charge than stock battery (1500mAh from memory)

what kind of 1800mAh you use. I also 1800mAh noname one and hold much less than the original.
It is normal to have around 1%/h drain
I also use the Promethuis Rom 1.3 and Kernel 1.3 and looks good. In new Kernel 1.5.3 (beta) there is minimal 100MHz rate with much lower voltage.
It is good to use SetCPU and build profile for the swtiched off display s.t. like CPU-100-300MHz on hotplug governor and SIO I/O sheduler. So your phone will never go to 1000MHz when is off.

Currently use a no name 1800mAh from Ebay...it definitely holds more charge than stock.
Kernel 1.3 has lowest clocking at 196MHz which i think is fine. Max at 1.2.
Over the last 2 days, have had some really bad drain. It coincides with me adding my work email onto the phone....with 3G on, it just seems to bleed charge like crazy. not sure if it is the email sync, or the battery itself.
Also downloaded some new apps, so not quite sure what is driving this decline in battery performance. Will post if i find out.
Hey guys, would love to get some advice on batteries for this phone. I would like to buy an extended battery or at the very least a spare that I could swap out when my main one dies (which happens far too frequently for my liking). I've heard some talk on these forums about Nexus batteries fitting in these phones, is that true? And if so what Nexus battery should I purchase to be sure it would fit? If not any aftermarket batteries that you guys recommend or would I be better off with OEM? Thanks in advance for the advice!

I'm using the latest 'stable' build of CM10, CM 10-20130107 and whatever the default kernel is for that ROM. Battery life isn't awful but I wouldn't really call it great either. If I'm just around the house on WiFi all day I can get about 3 hours ish of screen on time and maybe 10 hours of standby. Problem is as soon as I go mobile 4G seems to really suck the battery dry. I'll get maybe an hour and a half of screen on time and shortly after that it will die. The strange thing is that I have all of my push notifications off for everything except Facebook, no email or any other apps are seeking data (in theory), Google Play isn't allowed to update when on mobile data so I'm not sure why being on 4G makes such a difference but it really seems to drain the battery fast. I have noticed a few things when trying to troubleshoot battery issues that I've had, CPU almost never seemed to go below 384 MHz according to CPU Spy so it was never hitting deep sleep like it should. I went ahead and uninstalled almost all my apps on it and now it does seem to enter deep sleep more often. Another interesting thing that I notice is that sometimes the phone will just be sitting in my pocket not doing anything and it will be really warm for some reason (almost like CPU has been working under full load for a long time) even though I haven't been using it at all. Seems to only do that when I'm not on WiFi so maybe something to do with the 4G modem? Anyway if you have some advice on a better ROM or kernel that would give me better battery life I would be happy to hear it. Battery life is really my only gripe with this phone.
I'm using the All-star Liquid Smooth ROM and running Lightning Zap Kernel by Thomas.Raines
This is my battery life
Now I have been using WiFi all day and when I'm on 4G there isn't a significant battery drain... to be honest I saw some of the best battery life ever on this phone using AOKP by racing 19969 I was getting at least 15 hours and max was 17.5 hours using LZ kernel on that one too
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-T769 using xda premium
I've been able to pull about 12-13 hours with minimal use on CM 10 w/ BlueLightning X2 kernel underclocked a bit, so I'm thinking its time for a new battery. When I first got it I was able to get somewhere around 16 hours on the debloated stock GB ROM. Ideally I would love to be able to get at least 18 hours, so that I could make it through an entire day and night with a few hours to spare, but I don't see that happening.
I love this phone, but hate having to worry about the battery mid-way through the afternoon. I really do miss the days of my old BlackBerry getting 3+ days of heavy use before it started to warn me to charge it...

I've honestly thought about going back to stock firmware several times, thinking that the battery might be better there along with better stability. I love CM-10 for the looks and just overall usability but with random reboots still happening at least once a week and other little quirks along the way I've wondered if I might not be better off with something a little more consistent as my daily driver. I did try Lighting Zap Kernel at one point, perhaps problem with how my mod was installed or something but I found my phone to be consistently slower and laggy with it so I removed it and went back to base CM-10 kernel.

Its your phone and your choice but once again I recommend AOKP and Lightning Zap Kernel I'm haven't had any random reboots on lz or any lagging and I always got 15 hours at least and 17.5 Max, I have medium to heavy usage on my phone .
To fix lagging flash this

Have you tried black hole system wipe or Thomas.Raines' Germlin Remover ?

Well the thing was I only lagged when I had Lightning Zap installed so either it was stupidity on my part or too much gunk in the file system or something else. I'm a little confused as to what AOKP is, I was under the understanding that it's a kernel, but Lightning Zap is also a kernel and you can't have two right? I did try the Gremlin Remover, which completely screwed up my phone the first time, so I went back, used black hole, then Gremlin Remover, and reinstalled everything from scratch, phone seems to be stable now but I did have a black screen on death once since then. Somehow in that whole process my 32gig SD card seems to have died : (

I would use the latest nightly instead or the stable. I also use blue lightning x2, I have better batterywith it than with Lightning Zap. Using mobile data with the screen on will kill your battery no matter what.
If your phone is not sleeping correctly (normally I will loose 1 percent a hour on wifi while sleeping, I also do a high level ATK kill before). Try doing a backup and run black hole and fsc a few times and format the emmc (backup important stuff). Then a flash of the nightly, kernel and gapps.

From what I understand though there are a few different versions of the Nexus battery depending on carrier, is that correct? If so which carrier battery would work with the Blaze?

maybe this one?? I too would like to replace the stock one. The one I'm posting and looking at is 1850mAh which should help a little but I'd like to know if it would fit without any special backs as I don't want any bulk.
