[Q] Anybody use Juice Defender?

I use Juice Defender Plus and it works just like it should but I have a problem with it keeping wifi on while the tablet is charging. It assumes a charging tablet is an 'awake' tablet.
Us Asus TF owners have docks with a battery in them, so everytime the tablet is on the dock it is charging. And if I leave the tablet docked, its always charging (till the dock runs out of juice) and therefore my wifi is always on.
[Q] Does anyone know how to disable this? If at all?
I sent this question to Latedroid (creator) but their support is pi**-poor.
Hopefully someone on this forum can help?

I have the freebie version installed but thus far the jury is out on whether it is any more effecive than stock

Its quite useful for killin wifi instantly after screen off. android takes 15 mins. But the rest of the settings are quite useless - for me anyway.
It does work though, I should add. Ive gotten 10.5 hours from using the tablet without the dock

[Q] Dock Battery Issues??

I have a tf300t with the dock. When I leave it to sleep, it just seems to drain the battery like it isn't sleeping properly. I'm on the latest firmware. I was going to root, but got all new gadget happy and let the newest firmware rollover. Whoops. Anyways I think asus has enough customization baked in that I don't know if any 3rd party rom will support this tablet as well the stock roms. Really the experience is stock/vanilla enough, that I haven't had a problem with the asus firmware. Just missing root (and I know I have a few parachutes left....)
Sorry for the ramble here. Ive read on several forums that people with the tf300t are having awful battery life while it should be hardly using any with the dock attached and sleeping. I have a battery monitor running now to look for drain in the OS, where wakelocks might be happening, but everything points to the dock. I *did* have the dock enabled during sleep option for a long time. I turned it off and still had a pretty persistent drain. Wifi should be disabling during sleep, but without any way of testing I dunno. It seems to sleep (and had even turned off once or twice on its own dunno why) when the keyboard is closed, but something really isn't right here. Anyone know what's going on? I know this is a semi-common problem. I would swap the hardware, but I don't know if that's really the issue.

[Q] Dock Draining battery

Both running stock or CleanROM I have the issue that when I leave the tablet undocked my battery will last days or weeks with the screen off. When I connect the dock and turn off the screen the dock battery will drain to 0% within a couple days and the tablet battery level would be lower than if I had left it undocked.
I've installed better battery stats and deep sleep batter saver and the device is verified in deep sleep 90% of the time.
Any suggestions?

Think that is how it designed to work. Dock will keep trying to top up the tab when it drops below 70% and then when the dock battery runs out it requires extra juice from the tab to keep it alive.

I think my question may have not been clear. One should assume that the addition of a second battery should increase the overall runtime of the device not decrease it. Instead of getting the extra hours of battery life I am getting less battery life with the dock attached.

I have the exact same problem. Ive got all the right apps and settings suggested from XDA and still my battery drains when doc is connected.

I'm starting to think this is a common problem, and not just some random one that I was having...
So I installed better battery stats and it is indeed the dock that's draining both it's own battery as well as the infinity's battery. I think I had about 4 hours of asusdec_wake lock coming from the dock when I let it go to sleep, but the strange thing is it only appears to happen after about half an hour of sleep before it kicks in for me (I should point out btw that I'm using a tf201 dock and running cromi-x 4.4 with _that's kernel). After removing the dock from my infinity, I no longer got the battery drain from my tab, but when my tab was docked, the keyboard seemed to drain like crazy along with the infinity, but only after being asleep for about half an hour to an hour. I suppose this is just a 4.2 bug that ASUS might be able to release an update on, or sbdags, as it seems he's done a better job with bug fixes than ASUS has. :laugh:

Is sbdags a custom rom? I'm assuming so. Also your use of the tf200 dock should make no difference. Its been proven besides a firmware change and a slight color change the 2 docs are pretty much the same. I also believe this maybe a 4.2 issue however I have seen this before the latest update with my doc. It does appear to kick in after about 30 mins to an hour for me also. I am trying out a new app that I hope will help called DS battery saver. Ive tried others before to no avail but I figured why not give this one a try. I keep my infinity on the doc all the time so I hope they can fix this issue...

sbdags is the creator of the awesome custom rom, clean rom inheritance xenogenisis, he's also the second poster in this thread. I'm currently running his 4.4 rom and it's incredible! (Thank you @sbdags btw for the amazing rom, you'll get a kind donation once I can get this internship thing figured out :highfive I kind of figured that having a 201 dock wouldn't make a difference, but I just thought I should mention it. As for the draining of the battery, I think we can just assume it's a 4.2.1 bug that can hopefully be patched by ASUS or by one of the awesome developers. I've also tried DS battery saver, and I think it told me the culprit was screen on, but after installing better battery stats, I got a recurring wake lock from the asusdec_lock. Oh well, it's not the worst thing ever right now to just undock the tablet, or remember to shut it off while docked.

I'm not so sure i want to try custom roms yet. I hate not knowing if its the rom or my tablet when trouble arises. I wonder what it could be in his rom that makes this issue go away or does it not? Was not sure if you were saying it cleared the problem up or not.
I have better battery stats & its telling me asusdec_wake was on for 11h 50min. Not sure what that is, assuming it woke the tablet up. Sounds similar to yours though. I do know the google services was what always shows in the battery stat app by asus. I hate to undock as it involves removing my whole case which protects both doc & tablet.

Oop, yeah, sorry, I probably should have made that clear that the problem is still present in Clean Rom Xenogenesis 4.4 and most likely with Stock Asus 4.2.1, so flashing a custom Rom won't do anything to solve it to my knowledge, so I wouldn't worry about that. In order for better battery stats to do it's stuff, you need to set it to "since last boot" and then just restart the tablet. At least, that's what I did to make it work. After that, better battery stats will start collecting data about what's waking up your tablet from sleeps, but it's still kind of hard to pinpoint what app is causing the issue.
What we know for sure is that it's something to do with Android 4.2.1 and being connected to the dock while the tablet sleeping is causing it to drain both the batteries of the dock and the tablet, but this doesn't occur when it's disconnected from the dock, and the tablet sleeps just fine. Also not really sure if this is relevant, but when I had my tab sleeping, it went into deep sleep, but after about half an hour of deep sleep, it had that asusdec_wake lock and then it bumped up to I believe 510 mhz for the rest of it's sleeping time. So, maybe it's a stock kernel thing?

Here's what I think is happening.
Asus don't allow deep sleep whilst the device is charging. When using the dock the device thinks is it is charging so doesn't deep sleep. The devices keeps waking, drawing charge from the dock which eventually runs down.

That could be a reason, I'm just confused as to why ASUS would add this, as I never had this problem in 4.1, but after 4.2 it's happened every time I had my tablet in the dock and let it sleep for long periods of time, and it's not cromi 4.4 as it appears to be the case with stock as well. Also, not only the dock drains, but the tablet drains too, but it's only when docked. When I'm not docked, I go about 1% per hour drain, but when I am docked, I'll go about 10 - 15% drain. Oh Asus, you crazy!

Could this be related to the option to wake-up by pressing a key on the dock, by any chance? I could just be spouting rubbish (which wouldn't be a first), but it seems to me that such a setting would require some kind of wake process.
Do you have it enabled?
I vaguely recall there being a similar issue with a fairly similar-named process a while back. I think it was the wakeup setting back then, but it could also have been Maps and Location Services.

I froze maps and turned off all location access and turned off all wireless functions (location, bluetooth, wireless, etc.) from my tab and it still occurs. It's possible that it could be the asus power saving thing for the dock which is the only real thing I have enabled for the dock, but I'm away from my tab at the moment, so I can't exactly test this theory yet.

Based on my observation mentioned option has no infuence on dock draining problem.

The battery drain is happening to me as well. I couldn't figure out why the stupid thing kept going dead.
Not happy! It's just another problem with this tablet. I wanna like it, but it's one thing after another!

I believe asus is releasing a new update for our tab in a couple weeks. Over on the tf300 forum, I heard they got a new update that I'm not entirely sure what it fixed, but it may or may not have fixed the battery issue, I'll have to look into that. So I would wait before jumping the gun and downgrading, but that's just me, it's a free country after all.
But as for now, there is no fix that I'm aware of.

No such problems here - yesterday evening 91%+91%, today morning 89%+89%. Stock deodexed 4.2.1 ROM with _that2 kernel and some apps removed.

[Q] Car Dock and emu_det Wakelock

First, anyone know what emu_det is?
Today was the first day with my new phone going to work with me. I have to leave my phone in my car though. Generally I just my phone in whatever dock I'm using since I park underground.
Today I noticed after work that my phone had not gone into Deep Sleep all day long. It spent most of the time at 384Mhz with a little bit of time spent higher than that. Looking at Better Battery Stats, the process emu_det had been giving a Wakelock for the entire day.
Could this have been triggered by the dock seeing as the dock tells the phone it's a car dock so that the phone goes into car mode?
I've tried googling the emu_det with no luck on an answer.
For the record, I reset BBS and CPU Spy after I got home and emu_det has not even shown up and my phone has been enjoying a nice deep sleep. Pretty damn sure it's the dock...which kind of sucks. Oh well.

While I got no replies, in the name of anyone who might find this same problem via Google, here are my results today.
I did not reboot my phone or take any action to try and solve the Wakelock from yesterday. All I did was remove my phone from the car dock today.
Here are the results...quite a difference.

I wouldn't believe someone actually pulling a month on a single charge (since that is what a 20% decrease in a week implies!). I run about three days on a charge, and that's with the dock attached. (EDIT: I can easily drain the tablet+dock combo in a few hours of heavy (graphical) use.)

Stand alone tablet without dock? And WiFi on or off? If WiFi is on and it's standalone tablet 20% seems to be fine for a whole day.

With everything off (wifi off, gps off, locationservices off, maps disabled, static wallpaper, no moving widgets, apex launcher, etc) and on standby without ever touching it, mine has dropped 4% in 29 hour.
So it is possible.

Anyway, that way it is in deep sleep pretty much the entire period. I haven't stopped handling my 700 for that amount of time yet. (GPS off, Location Services off, static wallpaper and no widgets is my standard setup as well -- all this drain... ugh!)

Well, it's meivakantie, so I've been home mostly. I've been way too absorbed in Divinity 2 xD Which means I'm on my laptop most of the time (except now, I have to pick up my ID card at the police station. And no, I haven't told them I know their WiFi password is ' Politie.'. :laugh: Do they have to prove their stupidity at every possible opportunity?)
I do have some widgets (Zooper 2x and 1 Eweather HD.) But they're both set to update manually only.

Which version of Android are you running?
Using 4.1, I was getting results similar to yours. Since upgrading to 4.2 though, it seems to be more like the OP's.

Still on 4.1.2. Considering all the mentions of issues with WiFi, Battery and other, I'm a little hesitant to update to 4.2. Also, it looks hideous.

Hmm? Looks the same to me. You mean the new default launcher that ASUS thankfully doesn't ship with by default?

I have the same problem as OP with 4.2 but I have the keyboard dock. I can leave my tf700 for 2-3 days without using it and come back and its dead. This is from a 80-90% charge. I think there must be something with the deep sleep not kicking in.
I am thinking of looking back at the build prop to see if that helps with deep sleep. I have wifi off, gps off, brightness down. I did have location services on but figured I could so that's news to me and the only other thing I have is a moving wallpaper. Could those to really be causing all this drain? There has to be some way of getting deep sleep to truely sleep deep and shut down everything..

New app to help with deep sleep
I just installed DS battery saver pro and I am hoping it will actually help with deep sleep. I had power switch but it did nothing but pop up and bother me and never actually shut anything down. I am hoping this app will actually do what it says it can do and shut down all apps and everything when the screen is off.

I am having the same problem since the 4.2 update. I charge my tablet+dock and after 2 days of standby ONLY - no more juice. Everything turned OFF, never touching the tablet.
Any way to downgrade back to 4.1?

Yes, you can just flash the 4.1 firmware to downgrade. The 4.2 bootloader works fine with the 4.1 rom.
Don't forget to wipe cache and dalvic. If you have problems afterwards you may have to do a factory reset and re-install your apps.
There's a guide somewhere, I believe in the General Discussion section, on downgrading.

Nope - everything fine here. The battery seemed to drain very fast after I flashed the first 4.2 rom. But after a few charge/discharge cycles everything seems to be honky dory.
Took a fully charged tablet/dock off the charger about 16 hours ago. Did the usual surfing, reading the forums, email etc, watched a couple of episodes of Breaking Bad, downloaded the latest Cromi-X rom and installed it with mods - I would call it a day of light use.
The dock s now at 9%, the tablet at 90%. :thumbup:
Your battery calibration may be totally off. Have you tried this:
Let the tablet drain to almost 0%, connect it to your PC via USB cable and make sure the PC is on and not going to hibernate or sleep. Let the tablet trickle charge all night - at least 8 hours.
That seems to have helped in some cases....
