atix 2 doesn't work with my car charger? - Motorola Atrix 2

ok, i've tested a nokia cable and the stock cable, but the phone will not charge in my car with either. did motorola really have the idea of forcing atrix owners to purchase the car dock to charge on the go?
this is a large problem for me since my sport has me traveling a lot. i consume a lot of battery running gps and music in my car. this is not good.

Weird I use a FM converter one my phone to play music over the radio and it has a USB port I plug into and charge my phone at the same time. Might try another charger?

Nope. I use a generic cig lighter charger w/usb port and a generic cord from a local cell phone shop and it works on my phone perfectly. However, all are not created equal. I was going to give my generic charger to my gf cause I bought a fancy red one (same type, but with a red rubberized coating on it) but it wouldnt work on my phone, had no issue working on my ipod touch though. So yeah, some may not work, not quite sure why.

Droid Charge HDMI, how to?

How do I get the HDMI working on the charge? I don't see an option for it anywhere, and I didn't get a prompt when hooking up my phone to the TV
Sent from my SCH-I510 using Tapatalk
plug the cable into your device and then into your tv it will work automatically. there is really nothing to be done on your end except making sure your tv is on the right input and you are using the correct cable.

This is the cable I bought: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003VWYBC2
Works great, don't need to touch any settings; just plug in and go.
I did read that this cable has issues with HDMI 1.4 so if you have a brand new TV, you should look elsewhere.
I just picked up a cheap cable at Target. It works flawlessly. As started before, make sure the cable is hooked up to the right input, make sure the phones screen is on.

What do u guys think of this?
I would suggest not taking a gamble with an adapter, which can always introduce extra problems, when you can get a complete 3' cable for less:
http://www.monoprice.com/products/p...=10253&cs_id=1025301&p_id=6973&seq=1&format=2
Or a 6' cable for about $1.50 more:
http://www.monoprice.com/products/p...=10253&cs_id=1025301&p_id=6974&seq=1&format=2
There are a bunch of other lengths and options on MonoPrice, as well, and whichever way you go you'll be better off than overpaying in a physical store.
Doesnt work?
I did this on my charge, plugged into phone and then tv. Still says no signal? Cable is brand new from monoprice. I am running a different kernel and ROM, could that be an issue?

If you're sure you're on the right input and wiggling the cable in the phone doesn't help you could have a bad cable. My first one crapped out within seconds of beginning to use it.

Your TV might not like the signal the phone is putting out. My tv, which is a dinosaur in terms of 1080p tvs (its actually the first one to market, and has a DVI input) is finicky with certain resolutions, and alas, my droid charge through hdmi does not work either. Try a different TV to rule out a bad cable...
Quick question. Does the image mirror the resolution of the phone? Because whenever I hook up my charge, it seems to be missing some area on the top and bottom but I'm thinking this is justthe resolution of the phone.

[Q] Desktop Dock static/no bass?

I recently picked up an Epic and the dock for it. I have noticed that when connecting my headphones or car stereo directly to the device it sounds great. When I connect it through the Dock I lose all bass and there is also static. I have looked all over to determine how to fix this. I see that others have the issue and some people say that it works perfectly. I was curious if there were any other ideas on how to make this work better.
thanks
I hear the issue is caused by usin a charger other than the one provided. Including car chargers. Replace and only use provided charger
Edit: thx [↓]
Both car and desk dock work fine but I do use the charger it came with. not sure if that helps you or not.
i have been using a USB charger for it. I will try with a wall power adapter and report back. Thanks.

[Q] Best cable for a loose port?

My skyrocket has been having difficulties charging. I find that I have to lift the cable higher than the phone itself (so as to create some kind of upward pressure on the port) for it to charge, or else it won't charge at all. The cable also feels really loose when I try to plug it in.
A friend of mine has a portable HD cable that I borrowed for a while, and it seemed to fit really snug and had no problems with charging at all. Maybe I should get another USB cable? Which cables have you guys found to work really well? This is all very frustrating.
What should I do?
My cable is a bit loose also and sometimes while using it it will charge then disconnect over and over again. I use my cable from my atrix and it works just fine. But I am sure any cable would work fine. As long as it plugs in.

iBOLT Dock'n Play Samsung cable now available as stand alone product

Hello all XDA friends! Finally, the 9ft microUSB-to-aux-out cable is available as a stand alone product. There has been tons of requests for this as many of you already have a phone holder in the car and you only need the cable so you can play music/gps sound (app sound) through the car-speakers. The microUSB end plugs into the phone phone and it will charge the battery when the standard USB end is plugged into a car-charger or into the vehicle's USB port (although some USB ports have slow charging rate!).
We've also seen a huge interest in using this cable together with a home stereo or with the "old boom box". Very cool application is to connect the Galaxy phone to a boom-box and put the handset into the beach bag (9ft is a loooong cable!).
When you inserted the cable the "DockMode" will start. Download an app like the iBOLT Dock'n Drive and mange your favorite apps this way. You can also set Slacker Radio, TuneIn or Ulysee Speedomter or CarHome Ultra as default "home screen". Note that you can also set WiFi and Bluetooth to go on or off automatically when handset is connected to the cable.
This new version of the "Dock'n Play" cable should be static free and will provide great sound quality. Feel free to use this thread to ask any questions about Samsung DockMode, aux-out etc. The developer for CarHome Ultra and Ulysee Speedomter can also chime in and answer questions if there's a need. Have fun!
The price is $19.95 and it's available for Amazon Prime for a few days (only a few hundred in stock).

Yes, if you buy the xProDock this cable comes with the Dock. However, if you buy the sPro or the ProDock it does not come with the holder. We have a lot of people wanting this as they either don't want to use a holder/dock in the car or they already have something else that works well.

Are you talking about original Sammy 2A charger or some ebay $4 charger that claims to be 2A while in reality current limited to under 1A (and thus due to losses and conversion efficiency down to 720 mA)?
I have a cheap charger for 5€ but with simple USB cable : 1.9amp.
With iBolt cable (for car mode and audio out) just 0.7amp
Tested with Galaxy charging current

Confirmed, I'm getting crap charging rates , I'm so disappointed
no shipping to UK? I think I'll make my own one, 9ft is a bit too long for me and I can also use quality components to cut down on interference and lowered charging rates.

I'd been emailing the company about this for a few weeks when I first heard they were going to launch the standalone cable and they never got back to me. I guess this is why. Disappointing!

Look guys, stock Sammy firmware limits charging in smartdock mode to .7A. If that is unnaceptable, run a custom kernel like Perseus or Devil and you can up it to 1.7A.

Anyone know how to enable dock mode on the i9505G? I don't have an accessories menu so I'm thinking I'm screwed.
the dock isn't well made.. if you live anywhere that gets hot, the suction cup vibrates on bumps when hot.. its cheaply made for a 40$ product in my opinion..
I have no complaints with the quality of the dock. I live in south Florida where it's crazy hot now and my car stays all day long outside. I have no problems with the dock losing suction at all

CONFIRMED working 3.5 audio adapters

I'm starting to see a number of USB-C to 3.5 headphone jack adapters on Amazon, though a great many of them have less than fantastic reviews and many reviewers indicated they don't work for specific phones. I recently saw one that was specifically indicated to work with the Moto Z, so I went ahead and bought. It came today and I am able to CONFIRM that it does indeed work with my Verizon Moto Z Force phone.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01N7R8PWO/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
The USB-C adapter seems to fit well, and I'm getting audio from the Google Music player in both ears just fine. Just thought I'd share my results in case others were looking for working adapters. If you found one that definitely works with Moto Z as well, please share it here.
I'd be interested in finding out if anybody finds one which allows charging at the same time (some sort of USB-C to 3.5mm + USB-C adapter). Otherwise, my phone is useless on a road trip (running Waze eats the battery quick, and I like to listen to music via Aux In). I know that the Car Dock Mod allows this, but that's via the Mod adapter on the back of the phone and I need to use a Universal dock (wife uses an iPhone).

FWIW, if you have a wireless charging mod, TILT makes a universal car dock with wireless charging: http://www.tylt.com/car-products/capio-car-mount
That'll leave the port open for the 3.5mm adapter. Waze will probably still eat faster than wireless will charge, but it should extend the time significantly.
I should probably read posts before responding to them. Please ignore. :]

Incipio actually makes a really good vehicle dock mod that allows you to charge and has a 3.5mm output. Only mod I use regularly, it's ridiculously convenient. Crazy that it's not very well known, because it's easily the most useful Moto Mod.

To me it does. I don't want to carry it everywhere with me to get potentially lost or mangled in my pocket. I'd rather leave one at work, one in the car, and one at home.
I see. I actually only use mine in the car now for the aux input but otherwise I've already converted to Bluetooth headphones unfortunately. And no, not beats. Beats are terrible.
I found what claimed to be OEM Moto cables on Amazon and ordered a couple, but they are currently unavailable. I paid $7.58 each.

I also ordered this one, which was made by a third party and was $6.99
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01M0GHUCW/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I cannot speak to durability because I just received them in the last week, but all of them did at least work initially.
