[Q] How to publish a device-specific .apk? - General Questions and Answers

Apologies if this question has been answered elsewhere, I was unable to find it. Also, I'm a n00b, so xda wouldn't let me post this in the developer forums.
I need to publish an .apk to the Android Market that is specific to a particular hardware model. I've looked at the Market Filters documentation (at developer.android.com/guide/appendix/market-filters.html), but could not figure out how to filter based on a specific device.
At run-time, you can query "android.os.Build.MODEL", which is great... but I need the market to use that data to filter.

XDA Developers app?

Maybe its what opera is better for but i think it'd be helpful
Specify your device, OS, log in details
And the app would only open up the sub forum on here to that specific device?
unsure how possible that would be but i'd find it helpful
I'm not a developer or have the skills to do so but just a thought to those who can?

Job Posting Share: Android Developer

I found this listing while applying for a position in the consulting and finance industries and it looked like something one of the Devs here might be interested in.
I don't know if I'm allowed to do this, so if a MOD could set me a pm if not, I'll happily remove this posting so you don't have to.
ANDROID DEVELOPER needed for the development of interfaces with Web Services using Android API. The term of the project will be long term if the candidate performs well.
The rest of the posting can be found in the zip file below. There is a pdf of the posting at the University of Rochester Career search site, as well as the posting's original listing at Dice.com, which I find easier to read.

[Q] SAX and Android

Sorry about posting in here, I wanted to post in there Android Developers but it says to post in here cuz I'm new.
Anyways I've found this question asked a while ago, in a couple of different places but it hasn't been answered so I'll try asking it for myself.
I am working on a Android App that needs to read a XML file, I'm using the SAX Parse. I found an example on line that I've messed with and it appears to work if I make Java Application out of it. Though the same code does not work when if its placed with in a Android App. Is there some difference between the SAX implemtations between Striaght Java and Android's VM? Code is aviable if you have any questions.
Thank You!!
I've had a bit of a Google round and I can't see any reason why SAX wouldn't work with Java ME. In fact, I've found examples that use it specifically for Android...

Although this site is obviously full of very talented developers, if you have specific coding issues then I strongly recommend you go to stack overflow. It's a VERY busy site, with some very good (and some not so good) developers all clambering over each other to answer questions. The site is specifically for answering code problems though, so you may get flamed by asking the above question without showing some code. Along with xda it's my most visited site and I couldn't recommend it enough.
To get you started on there, here's an Android/SAX question that may help you with your problem...

[Q] MagazineUX Launcher/App request forum

Hey there,
I'd like to know if anyone out there tried to use the new Samsung tablet UI on other devices. If so, how did the experience go? I have a feeling that it wouldn't work if I just took the APK out of a system dump and pushed it to my device (like it wouldn't work for the stock launchers of most devices out there, their full functions are usually buried somewhat deep in the system, like on the framework or even deeper sh*t the manufacturer decides), but I think it's worth asking.
Plus, is there a specific forum for app/ports/whatever-like-this requests? I see there is this Q&A board and the apps board, plus device-specific app requests threads over various forums, but I really don't know where would an app request with no specific device in mind would go. If there is such forum already, I'd like to know (and have this thread moved there, if possible), because I couldn't find it easily.
Thanks in advance for any help in any of the matters.
