XDA Developers app? - HD2 Windows Mobile 6.5 Themes and Apps

Maybe its what opera is better for but i think it'd be helpful
Specify your device, OS, log in details
And the app would only open up the sub forum on here to that specific device?
unsure how possible that would be but i'd find it helpful
I'm not a developer or have the skills to do so but just a thought to those who can?

Application Development Ideas

I have a few Ideas for some applications I would like to create. I Was going to post this on the the developer page, however, it said only for developers and hardcore techies. since I am neither i figured The General forum should do. what I am asking is for some guidance and direction id developing these apps. like programming language, platform, framework, etc. i downloaded basic4ppc and was wondering if that was a good place to start? i guess I am looking for collaboration more than anything. just some ideas that i thought people might enjoy, benefit from and expand upon. any and all help is welcome!

Android App & Website Setup help

I have searched a few times here and have found nothing, so i'm sorry if there are existing threads on this issue.
I am working on an app that needs to be able to read from (and possibly write information to) my website. The website will be designed for this app.
I understand that android uses SQLite databases to hold local information for an application.
How am I supposed to make my application read information from my website. Do i set up a SQLite database on my server and have the app pipe into that somehow?
I am in very preliminary design stages of both my app and my website. I would like to design them from the getgo so my application can get the information as easily as possible for this website. (it will possibly sumbit information to my website as well, wiki-style).
thanks for all your help. if threads like this exist, please by all means make fun of me for neglecting the search button! But I have purchased two programming books and I still cannot find an answer that is even pointing me in *any* direction.
Anybody have a good tutorial on this subject?
I've been wondering about this too. I really like the new XDA android forum app and was wondering if there is a guide or video on this. Since XDA had one I KNOW its possible.
If I were you I would make a PHP (or whatever you use) bridge which can perform actions in your site. You can use get methods to tell the bridge what would you like to do. The XDA app uses this method, but instead of GETs it uses XML-RPC

[Q] How to publish a device-specific .apk?

Apologies if this question has been answered elsewhere, I was unable to find it. Also, I'm a n00b, so xda wouldn't let me post this in the developer forums.
I need to publish an .apk to the Android Market that is specific to a particular hardware model. I've looked at the Market Filters documentation (at developer.android.com/guide/appendix/market-filters.html), but could not figure out how to filter based on a specific device.
At run-time, you can query "android.os.Build.MODEL", which is great... but I need the market to use that data to filter.

[Q] How to start a mobile app project

I'm making this thread in search of information. I am very new to the world of app development and am in need of some guidance. This forum seemed most relevant to what I will be asking, but if there is a better forum then please refer me there.
I have an idea for an app I would like to be made, how ever I have little to no experience in mobile app programming. So my plan is to hire a programmer and or designer. I initially know exactly what the app will do, how it will look and respond to the user, and the layout as well. What is the best tool for me to create a wireframe or an exact replica of what the app pages will look like? Often times I hear people use photoshop to make a jpeg file of what every page looks like, and then pass it on to a programmer to code it. What are your opinions on this?
Also, I do not know anything about hiring programmers or developers. Where can I find information on how to do this properly? Or how can I find out what the process is in starting a mobile app project? Like finding investors, how to patent an idea to have some security as far as it being stolen, big trusted sites for these kind of jobs? These kind of questions. I'm just looking for a place where I can learn all these things to make sure I don't get scammed.
I don't expect to get all my questions answered, but i'm just searching for a place where I can find the answers. I have been searching google, and there are so many websites and so much advertisement, that I really do not know where to begin. This probably is not the place to ask all these questions, but what is the best place to go?

[Completed] force hardware rendering

on ics.. developer option have this feature..pls explain what it actually does...
any performance improvement...?
what about battery life...?
Hardware Rendering as the name states, uses the GPU to render UI and app screens on the phone. This is particularly effective with videos which tend to see more boost as against Software decoders that chew up Ram and use Processor.
A quick search on the forum found me this Guide. Irrespective of Device platform, Certain android features act the same. You might be better off posting such queries in your Device forum or General Android Q&A forum.
Please note, the Assist forum is for new members who need to find their feet and need to know where to go.
The mission of Assist forum is
The mission of XDA Assist is to provide basic help to those who have tried searching but can't find what they are looking for and need assistance. This is not a "helpdesk" providing technical assistance but more to point you in the correct direction with your problem. Perhaps you can't find posts on how to root your phone, install custom recovery or maybe you have questions about how to navigate and use features on the site.
