I just got my xoom and thought i had 3.2 but i had 3.2.1 and when i rooted i lost wifi. Is there a way to fix this by downgrading or installing another rom?
thanks
Still no wifi after rebooting? If not then reflash the rom you flashed to get the 3.2.1

I tried that but after i re-installed everything with cmw, it turns on but i can only see boot animation...nothing happens after. I cant get in honeycomb and my pc doesnt detect the xoom so i cant use adb...helpp
I got help from somebody. Thanks guys
so what was the answer, as i have 3.2.1 and looking to root tonight
use the universal root method using ur sd card.
If you use the others, you may lose your wifi connection. You will have to re-install another rom. I suggest using the universal method.

I finally understood how to root my Inspire to take it over to my pre-paid T-Mobile, but, now, I can't get to the internet via WiFi. I've tried my wifi, as well as other connections around me, with no luck. The only way I can get internet on my phone is if I use the passthrough option. I'm running the stock 2.2 OS with no ROMs. Have I done something wrong...?
Additional Info:
Forgot to mention that I used the ace-hack, Version 11A. Also, I can scan for wifi networks, and I can connect. I have a good signal, and I can login to my router and see the phone listed. The "Mobile network" setting has been disabled since I won't be using data with T-Mobile. I've turned on Airplane Mode and tried to get to the internet that way, and the same thing still happens; I can see the networks, and I can connect, but, I have no data coming in or going out.
Any luck? I just ran through the same version of ace hack 11 and I'm experiencing the same problem. I can connect to any wi-fi with an excellent signal, but can't connect to the internet.

No ): I ran through AceHack11A again for giggles, and, I still have the issue. I'm thinkin' I may have to install the stock AT&T radio, but, from what I understand of it, the radio has nothing to do with wifi.
I'll save you the trouble of installing the stock radio, already tried it. I was able to get things working though... here's basically my chronology of things:
- Did step one of the reverse CID, god the goldcard.img emailed to me, no problems
- Did step 2, downgraded. After the downgrade, I could still use wi-fi at this point without issue.
- Step 3... this is where the wifi internet issue was introduced.
- Connected to the internet with via my PC with USB cable.
- Ran the one of the programs that was installed in step 3: Rom Manager (while connected to the internet). It made me download and install Flash ClockworkMod (all done through the rom manager gui).
- I bought the full version of Rom Manager. I removed the free version that was installed, re-installed the updated free version, then bought the premium rom manager.
- Within ROM manager, clicked on Download ROM and downloaded the CyanogenMod rom (I went with the regular CyanogenMod, not the nightlies version). Installed it, and everything works great.
You can probably tell I'm a total newb to android, hence the annoyingly detailed description of what I did. Give it a go, maybe it will work for you?
same problem here, after root
update:
Ok, I fixed installing a stock ROM from this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1058042
Probably the problem has to be something with Rom Manager (is not present in the stock rom), I didn't check it anyway.
I have the same problem several days ago. I flashed the Revolution ROM, and it was resolved.

Hi, this is my first post on here. I searched the forums for this problem I just encountered that happened right after I plugged in my phone at work to get internet thru my PC using the data cable. At lunch time I went home and turned WiFi on and now it just keeps scanning and will not connect to my Wifi! It sees my WiFi which was working just fine since the day I brought it home. All this started because I wanted to try out using the data cable to get internet on my phone since my work doesn't have WiFi. I believe it has something to do with connecting thru the data cable pass-through connection. I am on stock ROM. I rooted the phone before but went back to stock ROM because it just seemed like too much maintenance for me at this time.
Does anyone know how I can fix this? Am I going to have to flash back to original ROM to fix this?
I searched some more on there and only found this other topic but since I'm not at home at I cannot confirm if changing it to charge only and restarting will fix the WiFi problem that I am having! I'll try this out later.

For anyone else having issues, please use this method.
NOTE: You DO NOT have to buy the full version of ROM Manager in order to fix the issue. The free version will work just fine.

What ROM are you running?
I rooted my xoom wifi and now when I go to settings to set up my wifi, it says error instead of scanning. any fixes?
I would try reflashing the kernel.
Sent from my Xoom using Tapatalk
who sounds like the kernel didn't flash right. try the post above me said chances are you just need to re push the kernel files.
how did you flash? if you used adb, you most likely did not push all the modules.... if you used cwr you may of had an error and should reflash.
lostttttt
Hello fellow xoomers, im having a problem hope some one can help me. first off i'm a noob to rooting. I have a xoom wifi running android 3.0 , kernel version is 2.6.36.3 build HRI39. I was adventurous and tried to root my xoom and needless to say it didn't go well. I honestly thought I bricked the damn thing, to my shock and welcomed surprised I was able to do a wipe and erase all the data on my device and return to factory settings. but when it went to connect to the wifi all it's saying is wifi error every thing else seems to work fine. so i was wondering should i try to re root my xoom again??? will this correct the issue i'm having with my wifi?? and can some one point me to a guide that's made for the version i'm currently running seems likes there's a million and one different types of software and you have to have the right one for the version your running or every thing goes from sugar to well you know the rest. Any help would be greatly appreciated if you need any more info please let me know. thank you all in advance.....
Odd thing happened today. I was testing out the EOS cornerstone new rom and was having issues with WiFi so I restored my Stock ICS setup but now I can not enable the WiFi.
The WiFi icon is greyed out on the settings tab and I can not swipe the WiFi to on in the settings app.
Has anyone seen this before? Did the WiFi die?
Just flash the ROM you were using again without any wipe. (Flash the ROM that your backup is base upon)
It seems the backup has the HC version of the wifi. I flashed the other rom again and the wifi is working fine.
Thanks.
Same Problem

Just flash Revolver ROM again, no wipe needed
I installed the AOSP test build of ICS, now I too am having wifi issues. I saw the ROM had it listed that there was a bug with the wifi so I didn't think much of it at first. I then installed Android Revolution but now the wifi still doesn't work.
I accidentally deleted my backup ROM..
Tablet says no MAC address found, and wifi settings app just hangs when trying to turn on.. I've re-flashed numerous times.. I've formatted all the partitions, re-flashed again....
Any ideas?
I had to flash the rom again (EOS cornerstone) and the wifi started working. I just ended up flashing the stock ICS from the asus site to start freh again.
It seems like the backup in CWM does something strange with the wifi driver.
I'm start a new thread here.

I reflashed EOS, wifi works, but i now have a different MAC address than I did before.
Hey guys,
Today I've unlocked the bootloader on my HTC Desire S using HTCdev website, then I used SuperOneClick to root the device. Strangely when I press the volume-down and power buttons on the screen it says S-ON but when I try to run the SuperOneClick again it says that my device is already rooted. What's the difference between S-OFF and root access? Is there any?
But the real problem is that I don't have the Internet connection over wifi. It works on usb pass-through or mobile network. What's wrong?
I also installed CWM and using it I installed AGPS patch. I installed the the Google Specific build. I rebooted my phone and the Internet over wifi wasn't working. I just can't determine at which point it stopped working - after rooting the phone, after installing CWM or after installing the AGPS patch.
Then I realised that the patch I had installed wasn't the right one... So I installed the Google Specific CWM Flashable build. I thought it would help but no...
So what might be the problem? How can I fix this?
Thanks!
Could you help me, please?
I think that now I've messed up completely. I wanted to install a different radio on my HTC Desire S (from o2 UK) and now I don't have signal at all. Wifi connects to the hotspot but there is no connection. Damn it...
S-OFF means a unlocked bootloader. then you can flash 4Ext-Recovery which will bring you new ROMs to your phone.
rooted means only that you have root access to your exisiting ROM. The most of the ROMs are already rooted because some interesting apps like Titanium Backup, PDroid etc. only run on rooted devices.
to cut a long story short: try flashing REAPER rom, by which you can Turn GPS-Patches on an off by the in-built reaper tool.
greets
Okay so Im not that new with rooting androids or with using custom roms, so I'm not that much of a noob. The other day I decided since CM9 was in official nightlies I would give it a try. So I backed up my rom which was stock and rooted and I installed CM9 all through CWM recovery. Once in CM9 i notice the tablet wont connect to my phones tethering which is the only way I can get internet on it so I deciced to go back to my backup. But now on my backup the Wifi wont even turn on, anyideas why?
Hello,
I got exactly the same problem. I have installed CWM 5.5.0.4 and I tried CM9 nightly and return to Nandroid BackUp. Then no more wifi..
I tried to flash differents versions of stock kernels, but it was impossible to flash it : "Installation aborded"..
I used fastboot to install a new recovery : TWRP, but same problem : impossible to flash any kernels..
Does someone has the same problem? Or any idea to solve it?
Thank a lot !
Crystalyse
I also had another question...
is there any rom that will connect to Android tethering (ad-hoc)?
I was able to connect on stock rom rooted with cwm recovery but now every rom I tried so far wont connect to it.
Is there a way to work around this issue
I'm having similar problems, check this out:

Going to try when I get home but other users are reporting this working for them.

+1 That's the fix (WPA_Spullicant2) that worked for me. My TF300 just kept saying "Saved" when trying to connect to ad-hoc. Replaced the WPA_Supplicant2 file and all is working well.
It's a known issue with wifi not working on stock rooted nandroid backups. If you go back to stock, you will need to follow the step in this post from Xplod.
