I have T Mobile USA HD7 and still no update. I did force update to 7239, but it does not work for 7720, I have tried a lot. Zune says it is up to date. I wonder if there are still any devices without update?
hi
same here
mine is t mobile hd7 and still no update
zune says its up to date
How exactly did you "force" the update to NoDo? If you used the Chevron Updater from Chris Walsh, you "Walshed" your phone and made it incompatible with future updates. There's a tool out there to fix that, though. Similarly, de-branding your phone to get NoDo means your phone is now a hybrid of T-Mobile branded and non-TMO branded bits, and that may be enough to prevent you from getting the update.
I have forced NoDo with the Zune trick, disconneting my internet connection.
Phone is Chevron unlocked only, nothing else.
That's pretty weird, not going to lie. You can try the U2M7720 app (see the development & hacking sub-forum) and it might work for you. It provisions the phone to use the beta upgrade path, including the beta-to-retail final patch. As a bonus, you have a pretty good chance of being able to interop-unlock your phone, something which is otherwise tricky to do on HTC.
That might work. I think I will try to hard reset first, if that does not help I ll install one of the free roms, like dft. Thank you.

Knowing that the ChevronWP7 team has now been working with Microsoft to secure the exploit they were using, and that the NoDo update coming out on Monday will relock the phone and patch said exploit, what will happen next?
Obviously some of the fine people in these forums will take a crack at it, so I suppose my question would be this: Knowing what you guys know about developing and hacking the Windows Phone, how long would it take between the release of the update and until it i cracked again?
Will it be similar to the timespan between iOS release and jailbreaks, or of Android releases and rooting? What steps do you developers and hackers anticipate you will have to take in order to developer unlock our first major OS update?
I'm just really curious, and having just gotten a Samsung Focus on Monday, I wanted to make sure whether or not it was worth updating as soon as the update was relased. What do you think?
Well, on LG phones, you have a registry editor which allows you to unlock the phone (for sideloading) without the Chevron exploit (and no need for a certificate). I wonder if the update will kill even the registry keys (or change them to something more obscure).
Assume those do not change, then a new exploit would need to access the registry of a locked phone somehow, and I am sure people here will come up with a new certificate.
Other WP7
What about other phones? HTC HD7 or Samsung Focus? The Focus makes up a very large part of WP7 users.
it will come the phone is only 5 months old there has to be some bright spark out there that can unlock the phone after the updates or microsoft will allow HomeBrew applications to be loaded?
I just flashed from 7004 to PreNoDo 7008 on my HD7 and my unlocked apps are still working... I'm hoping that happens when I get my NoDo update... though unlikely. Then I could just use the sideloaded registry editor to re-unlock it. Here's to hoping!
I have installed NoDo on my US AT&T Samsung Focus and it is still Chevron unlocked.
My Omnia 7 has Nodo and homebrew software is still working.

I installed NoDo on my Focus and now its locked. How did you unlock it in the first place? I installed the certificate, ran Chevron tool, and checked both boxes. Now after NoDo install locked again.
OK, so I own an Omnia 7, it was originally on Orange. I was able to update it to pre-nodo, however I had to change registry for MobileOperators to 000-88 and then use the VPN trick to get nodo. There I got my nodo as well.
I reflashed my ROM with XENJK1 and then DBTJK1 and I was able to force NODO on both the ROMS until two weeks back.
Recently a few of my games wont run so I reflashed again with DBTJK1, I got my pre-Nodo right away. But now, the problem is that no matter what trick I used before, nothing absolutely works any more, not the VPN and not even the Wifi disconnect.
It seems like all doors to NODO are shut, so is it that my phone is ****ed to Pre-NODO. Having said this, I have been trying about a week every day to get NODO and using all the tricks except chevronupdater due to its suspicious repute, but no success.
Can anyone explain or help?
I read somewhere that Microsoft closed that disconnect trick, I'm not 100% sure about that though.
I haven't been able to get Nodo either. (DTMJJ6)

DTMJJ6, hmm. So, yours seems to be on Deutsche Telecom, if so then have you received pre NoDo. If you may please let me know the status of your ROM.
Just use chevron updater, i used it for pre-nodo and nodo on my hd7 and after that zune popped up with an htc update (that i even wasn't getting with an official nodo i had before) so i totally don't see that not serviciable state that MS advertised.
I used chevronupdater on my HD7, worked a charm, I had no problems and have received updates from HTC after updating to NoDo

Seems like that is just some fluke from MS. Many thanks for the encouragement mates, I shall do the chevron thing later tomorrow.
I unbranded my Focus and did the no-do patch a month ago then rebranded it to ATT-US but now zune doesn't tell me that there's an update though I haven't received the Focus Firmware.
I've been searching this forum and didn't find an answer so I'm just making sure I haven't found a way around it and will have to restore my phone.
Are you sure you're rebranded to ATT-US ?

Rebrand it and Zune will notice you.
how do you rebrand it?
I would like to know this as well. I can't run samsungregistry to re-brand the phone. am I forced to do a phone reset?
How did you unbrand it?

I'm very sure I rebranded it for sure. I don't think there is a way to run the registry.xap after nodo is there?

You can still side-load .xaps (like the registry editor) as long as your device is still dev. unlocked. IF, however, you lost your unlock there isn't a way to "jailbreak" NoDo with the Chevron tool.
One option is to use Zune on your PC to roll back the firmware using the backup Zune created during your first NoDo update. This version (maybe .7004??) will be unlockable with Chevron. Doing this will revert your phone back to the state at the time of the first update (you'll loose new app data, personal data, and have to redownload new apps.)
Once you're dev. unlocked you will be able to go through the update process to NoDo without losing the unlock. So you will have a dev unlocked NoDo. This process will probably restore the ATT-US branding, but now with an unlocked device you can brand it to whatever you want!
I'm sure the update is being released in waves so be patient. I have a device that already had NoDo on it and I received the samsung update immediately, but my buddy with a stock 7004 version still hasn't received the update yet.
Getting error C1010007 ever since my first attempt to upgrade. I got the notification on 4/19 and have tried several times, on 2 different laptops, and it gets to step 7 of 10 of the process and got to 68% the first 4 times, then 72% one time, then 55% the last time before it drops the connection with my phone and stops and throws the error.
I've deleted EVERYTHING on the phone ... music, pics, apps ... and same thing. I've used various USB cables including the original, and no success. About the only thing left is to hard reset and I REALLY hate to do that because most people aren't having issues.
I am really not liking this at all!
If you already deleted everything, What's the hurt to do a hardreset? In fact, a lot ppl spent days even weeks try to get the update working (on a Samsung phone) and still ended up with a hard reset and solves the problem. Re-setting up your phone probably won't take days you spent on experimenting already.
Just wondering if anyone has had this problem. I've resetted the phone and still cant get it to update
The only Focus that hasn't received NoDo update is hardware rev 1.4. AT&T is still testing the new firmware that will work with rev 1.4 hardware.
To check your rev number, power down and take the battery out. It is printed on the label underneath the battery.
Most of us are on older rev 1.3 hardware.
Im on rev 1.3, no firmware update though I'm running the latest software update...
no luck here either
Lol I didn't check update b4 I posted, this was for nodo
In a bit of a mess right now and can't figure out whats going on.
I bought a Samsung Focus and unlocked it and updated it to NoDo before its release using the timing trick.
BUT I reformatted it afterwords and it locked back up and I ALSO got the notification from Microsoft that I could update to NoDo when it was officially released for the Focus (though I already had NoDo). I connected it to Zune and got the official release and everything has great.
Now, my understanding was that after having done all this, my phone was back to normal and eligible to get official updates.
But I have yet to get a notification for 7392? When I connect it to Zune, it says my phone phone is already up to date with 7390.
SO, in conclusion, I would like to do either of the following 2 things:
1. Be able to get 7392, the latest release
OR
2. Roll my phone back to pre-NoDo and dev unlock it again and wait for some other work-around to surface. (I can't restore my phone using Zune because the computer I used has been since reformatted. Had I known, I would not have done that. Doh!)
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
ATT hasn't released it yet. You either wait till they do, or unbrand your phone to 000-88. If you're on a focus, on nodo, not unlocked, and don't have a pre-nodo backup to revert to, you'll be waiting for ATT to release it.

Thank you munkey. I was confused because I saw some Focus owners got it already. Also, since my phone has NoDo, is locked and no backup, I can't rebrand? Thats not good. Also, is there any other way for me to roll back? Thanks
The only current option for rolling back a focus is the Zune backup. I've seen some talk of using someone else's backup, but have not read any success. Also, I know there are people working on a nodo unlocker, but nothing has come from that yet either. I have also read about some ROM's for the focus, but again, there is no confirmed success there. You can pay for a legit dev account through Microsoft, or attempt to get a free student dev account. Both of these will unlock ur phone, but TBH, it's not really worth the effort just to get 7392. Now, for sideloading and access to reg edits, it may be worth it

Thanks for the help, I appreciate it.
I did manage to get it unlocked by signing up for a developer account as a student. A very long and tedious process, but I'm glad I did it. The main reason I did it is so I can sideload apps, get custom ringtones, and just tinker around with my phone.
Still no idea how to get 7392 though.
Install the SAMSUNGRegistry Xap, found here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=910911
to edit this registry path:
HKLM\System\Platform\DeviceTargetingInfo\MobileOperator
enter the "value" 000-88
select "STRING" not "DWORD"
press "Write"
connect to Zune, and it should prompt you with the update
if you want, you can return to the ATT branding by repeating the process, but writing ATT-US
EDIT:there is no space in "MobileOperator" the forum does that for some reason
Right now I'm 7390 but I just received a new update message what will the new update change?

I wasn't trying to be dismissive or rude. I didn't have a confident and complete answer myself, so I googled it to get your answer, but there were so many links with lots of info, and I was on my phone, I figured it was easier/better if you read through them yourself.
I'm glad cookie found a suitable link for you.
Oh, and btw, it's a cumulative update, so if you don't have nodo, it will install that too. Worth a mention in case someone is holding off on nodo for whatever reason.

7392
First of all, I apologize for bumping an old thread up. This is my first post here, and I think I might be in a bit of a pinch.
I updated to NoDo using the Hungarian VPN method when it was first published. Unfortunately for me I also carrier unbranded the registry of my device and neglected to apply the "prevent re-lock" tool before updating, rolling back and updating again once the official release became available. My phone hasn't since displayed any update prompts and Zune shows it to be up-to-date (7390). If I connect to Marketplace via WiFi only my carrier's exclusive apps do not display. This leads me to believe that carrier branding is somehow instrumental in acquiring updates.
Is my device now in a permanent state of flux? Exactly how does Windows Phone authenticate to the update server via Zune? I am asking only because I don't want to roll back to the last available backup image to get the most recent update. I first had to do this to obtain the official NoDo release and lost a bunch of apps and settings in the process. What can I do?
Hi there,
Today I received a shiny new HTC Titan and i'm already at my wits end with this thing.
Basically I am stuck on 7720.
I have the latest Zune installed, it connects to the phone fine.
I try to update and it finds nothing.
It's an unlocked / sim free EU handset.
As a test I disabled my internet connection and then run the update again in Zune, it appears to be "checking" somehow (which it obviously isnt) and it just says the same again "Your phone is up to date."
It clearly isn't. How old is 7720 now?
I'm a bit lost with cab sender, and not entirely sure I want to go down that route. I want to be able to update in Zune. I am not concerned with custom roms at all on this phone.
I'm generally an Android fan and have no issues running custom roms there, this isn't the greatest start to my WP7 venture.
Please help!!!
I'm done with this POS. My WP7 venture lasted less than a day, back to the drawing board.
HTC are beyond useless. They are stating 7720 is the latest version for this handset.
Finally got the newest RUU to flash, that will suffice. Phew! 8017 it is.
