I guess I forgot what it was like being on 3G(even though it wasn't that long ago)... but I was in a part of town today that apparently is still on 3G and I was like "sweet mother of god this is unbareable!!!" and got so impatient just waiting for a page to load that I just turned off my phone. ;P
on a side note, I didn't think I used much data this past billing cycle but it said I used 44GB so far(a few days left till new cycle). I guess you just get carried away when the speed is there.
any of you have similiar experiences?

I only get 3G inside my work. The second I walk outside I get 4G.
The 3G speed there isn't completely horrible, but yeah I feel your pain.

I wish. Most of where i live is still 3g. There must only be like one 4g tower in this entire city because the only area i can pick up 4g is only like three miles wide.

Ooo that really sucks. When I first got this phone, 4g wasn't turned on in my area. The Verizon rep I talked to when buying the phone said there was a tower extremely close to my residence and that it would be turned on within the month. It was actually turned on a few days before the scheduled date, so I guess I lucked out.

Verizon promised 4G in the "Greater Providence Area" by the end of 11/11 - considering some cities are bigger than all of Rhode Island, I've got confidence it'll be state-wide coverage
I just gotta ask....what in the world racks up 44GB in a billing cycle?
Tell me you don't stream movie after movie on a 4.3 in screen...
Before I had a fast Internet connection at work, I'd download a lot of ROMs over LTE...at 90 to 300+MB a pop, I'd be around 6GB a month or so with some other net and streaming of music, etc.
But 44GB...wow....

you can proclaim 'abuse' all you want, but it's nothing that would hold up in court as it's just your personal view and not specified in legal form.
if something says 'unlimited' it basically means what it says. anyone can take that into their own meaning obviously, as you have... and I'm sure you can bring up a good arguement as to why you feel that way. technically it would be irrelevent, unfortunately.
although, since you do feel that way, what if say you have high speed internet at home... which again, is specified as unlimited. would you think it 'abuse' if you used 50GB in a month? or say you're watching HDTV and you have the TV on a lot... it's using bandwidth also... so is that ok?
Technically...you are absolutely correct.
I also scored my phone/data plan when they offered unlimited data.
To answer your question, In my area I have Comcast, Wide Open West, ATT Uverse (Which I have), and other dish providers.
NONE of them have tiered data or GB Throughput limits.
All the main mobile carriers (except Sprint) have tiered data...as a direct result of people, again...in my opinion, of pigging out at the buffet line.
There is nothing illegal about it...I agree 100%.
Just goes against my morals and ethics...and as such, abuse IMO.

Whoa, hold on buddy! Nobody said there gonna take you to court so hold off on the lawyer. He just said that is the reason Verizon is making the move to tiered data, which is true.
It is a breach of contact if you're tethering and not on a tethering plan. Simple as that.
But if you do pay the monthly fee for tethering...

that's ok. when he gets throttled or kicked off of verizon (like sprint did when people abused customer service), then he'll be back on here crying about dial up throttled speeds.
I mostly agree with the restrictions of it being fair use and making sure everyone gets some bandwidth.
As far as land internet suppliers limiting data, comcast is doing just that from what I've heard and at&t has also started putting limits on it. So far I have not heard of TWC doing it yet, but I would guess it's coming.

Good point forgetful, if you're not paying for the WiFi tethering option (which, I have to be honest, I don't know if they offered that unlimited as well) your contract is void...

I don't tether because I already have a TWC 3g/4g hotspot that I'm stuck with (contract). Not sure what the restrictions are for tethering. I can understand the occasional tether in a pinch, but 44gb to play online gaming is abuse.
I think comcast has a 250gb per month usage cap I've read about. Not sure how much data I use at home, but I also pay for 50 down speeds so hopefully I would get a higher limit than someone on the basic broadband.

So I never have come close to using my 5 gb of data but it seems that it happened for the first time last night. I was under the impression that throttling was only used under extreme conditions for repeat offenders seeing as how "some people" have managed to exceed the limit without being hit. My data stands at .01 kbps download and .001 kbps upload. I'm pretty annoyed right now and am giving more and more thought into another carrier and another phone. I am noticing that this phone officially bores me now. Sad because I did like it...til now.
Edit: I've jumped to 45 kbps download and 70 kbps upload. That seems to be the max now..

Any carrier? Last time I checked, Sprint is the only carrier to have true unlimited data. Rumors have stated Verizon is reconsidering. AT&T continues to honor grandfathered unlimited plans and T-Mobile has done what? Lowered everyone's data allowance regardless of previous plans or time with the company.

I've hit the data throttle points a few times so i can speak from experience.
Just because you've hit the throttle point doesn't mean that the phone in itself sucks. The phone is still the same phone that had good download speeds. If you want to go to another carrier then fine. I'm not going to even attempt to stop you. But keep in mind 5Gb is a fair amount of usage. And other carriers will charge you for going over your limit, not just throttle you.
And for new customers AT&T doesn't even offer unlimited anymore. it's $25 for 2gb and $10 for every gb you use after that.
Sprint has unlimited, but their speeds suck for now. And they have horrible CS.
Verizon is still setting up their LTE network, and I believe once they are up and running they will be great. They don't even have any 4G phones yet. When the Thunderbolt comes out they'll have one, but who knows what you'd think of that phone. I haven't read any reviews.
I also heard some chatter about T-Mo re-raising their limit to 10gb. I hope they do that. IMO t-mo has amazing devices and excellent service, atleast where I live. We have all the major carriers in Spokane, and t-mo has by far the fastest data. CS speaks for itself. JD Power speaks for their customer service too. They speak good things.
In general, I think it's ridiculous for carriers to offer more and more bandwidth intensive apps like Netflix and all the streaming music apps, not to mention the ability to hook into an HDTV via HDMI or DLNA, and then lower the cap on our bandwidth to 5gb. So I hope they increase it again. It would be nice if one day they offered true unlimited and were OK with tethering and all that for us users who'd like to nix our home internet all together.
Either way, welcome to the throttling world. I don't think you'll be happier if you switch to a new carrier. Just suck it up until your next cycle. and next month, use wifi whenever humanly possible to save your data.
Cheers!

Yeah, one of my good friends has discovered the wonderful fees from AT&T which I would fight. He crosses 2 gb within a week or two every bill. (And he doesn't know how to tether either...)
I have seen some relatively good speeds from Sprint here in Houston. And their $69 plan seems to be a pretty good option as well.
Verizon is the carrier that interests me the most and like you said, I believe they will be good once they finish with LTE. I am sure that I would like the Thunderbolt BUT I don't believe it to be anything groundbreaking. Let's face it, the specs are last year's best. (Actually, I don't think that even counts since the LG Optimus 2X was released in December albeit in another country.)
I have enjoyed T-Mobiles customer service however I feel that the company as a whole is making too many mistakes in exactly what you said - Promoting apps that use up a helluva lot more data with streaming and the like. On a side note, the data increase has been confirmed for the hotspot devices but nothing as far as I know of when it comes to phones. Disappointing really.
I guess this whole thing pisses me off because I have never come close to reaching the cap. In fact, I typically don't ever cross 2 gb of data so when I finally decide to dig into streaming music, tv, and movies then I get hit slowing my phone to a near complete stop. The phone isn't completely useless but it's just a fragment of what I loved about it. And syncing is taking forever thus draining my battery faster. I know there are plenty of people who have passed the threshold numerous times with no recourse but I cross it once (and haven't even checked by how much) and don't even so much as receive a data warning? I dunno....it just makes me think.

BTW, you may want to make sure the data they claimed you used was actually used. They seem to have some issues with their metering system. I ran into this problem last week with Tmob. They claimed I used 5.2GB in 6hours in the middle of the night while my phone was on wifi. Took forever, but they eventually unthrottled me.

Data responsibility
Don't get pissed at T-Mo
People that are at the top users of T-Mo will get throttled so that "you guys" don't ruin it for the rest of us.
I don't want my download speeds / latency affected because a small subset of people eat up the bandwidth thinking that T-Mo can replace their ISP. I surf, stream, communicate, etc on my phone, but I'm responsible enough to use WiFi when possible as to not lag the network.
Not sure about everyone else, but when I want my mobile data, it needs to be quick. So I use wifi when available to keep my traffic off the towers, so others that need it won't be hampered.
First off I dont have to worry about it because I already have the TBolt.. However, if friends or family ever switch over, it could be an issue for them...
That being said - if they are going to have this implemented, they need to make some changes to the android OS.
First off - when you buy a new phone, the employee types in your gmail address and syncs your phone. This is done over 3/4G since they rarely bother to put you on wifi for doing this. Not to mention you probably want to leave the store... Therefore you will be syncing all your apps on your wireless account consuming your bandwidth.
There are too many instances that the OS contacts the net for this to be viable and pointless if you turn them off. My iPhone on at&t never went over 900mb a month and I use it the same amount as this android phone. The difference? The iPhone doesnt sync over the web and pull all of your apps back down for you if you factory reset or load a custom rom. On the TBolt, I regularly hit over 10gb per month.
I believe Verizon must limit bandwidth after you reach your paid allowance, not charge overages. The FCC really needs to step in here as this is literally the internet form of rape.
I guess Sprint is smiling now?

most people aren't loading custom roms (not to mention it's not Verizon's problem, technically they don't condone it), or downloading them over 3G/4G, but rather via the computer and transferring over USB. How you hit 10 GB without netflix is beyond me. If you're using LTE as a home internet sub than that's a whole different topic.
Streaming music for ~2hours a day except on the weekend, and moderate use each day, only puts me at max around 4GB.

Well several things. No one has to let the vzw employees set up their phones. No one is required to sync their apps or even download any. And why should vzw, if /once they go to tiered plans simply throttle instead of charge overage. Go over you cell minutes you pay extra. Same for txt. And how is it any concern of the FCC if vzw changes their plans?
My main issue with the plans as rumored is that they do not include tethering. Most normal users will be fine with a 2g cap. My gf, on a rooted DX with Netflix, has used 700 megs this month. Just for example.

Yeah, lucky for most of us TB users, we are grandfathered in to the "unlimited" plans. I have been a VZ customer for over 15 years now, and there is no question that their services is the best....
But when the time comes for me to sign another contract, if these are the terms I will probably be forced to switch carriers...
Sprint looks appealing, they have strong data coverage in my area...and I am not concerned about "dropped calls" because I almost never use the phone any more...
Hopefully this kind of pricing will force more competition. Maybe if they offered unlimited texting and cheaper (lower than 450 minute) phone plans along with it, that would soften the blow.
I am also finding that 4G speeds really only matter to me when tethering, other than that 3G does everything I need just fine with better battery life. I could definitely do with "slower" 4G speeds with another carrier.

Sprint coverage maps are a joke, yes they have coverage but the towers are so overloaded you are lucky to break 200/kbps (yes, 200k) downstream on rev A. EVDO during the day.
WiMax is great if you are on top of your roof or in an open field, but as soon as you get into any structure with more integrity than a tree house your signal tanks (Charlotte, SC has the best Wimax from my observation) because it operates at such a high frequency.
After being a customer for 11 years I jumped ship from Sprint over the weekend and picked up two TBs to replace my 2 EVO's. Sprint 3G is horrendous, not just in South Carolina, but in NYC, Charlotte, Atlanta, San Francisco, Detroit---I have traveled to all of these places in the last 6 months, and in each location I test between the hacked Verizon PRL for the EVO and the most recent Sprint PRL both in a Sense ROM and on Cyanogen...without fail, the year old hacked Verizon 3G PRL is faster, and more consistent. I was hoping my contract would just be canceled for having 5+ gigs of roaming data every month (not supposed to exceed 300 megs), but alas I was grandfathered into unlimited roaming data.
Sprint has been "upgrading its network" for years now yet the service still seems completely overburdened. I'm going to spend 40 bucks more a month going to Verizon for two lines, but I don't really care at this point, I would rather pay to play than save and suffer...

I use 6-8GB per month.
I know I could cut that more than in half if I wasn't ROM Flash happy and dl'd them on my PC instead of the phone.

The prices for data are criminal. The prices for tethering are even more so. I'm happy I'm grandfathered in, but I doubt I'll ever go over the 2GB since I'm on WiFi 99% of the time. I didn't even want a data plan because I have so little use for one.

Well I drive a truck and use the phone for everything, on my imago I was lucky to stay under 8gigs, with the bolt I am at 20gigs
Transmitted using my Sagem 835 mobile communication device.
Has anyone actually been caught by the tethering police? I mean have they sent you a notice or anything?
Also, do you think I would be caught? I have used between 11 to 20 gigs a month for 6 months straight with my previous phone(Tilt2) and now I that I have the Infuse, would they even know If I was tethering or not since I would be using the same amount of data as I previously have?
Any input would be appreciated
Without trying to sound like a jerk, you do realize it's people like you that are the reason they have to police it in the first place?
20 gigs isn't off the charts outrageous, cause there are guys that say they've used up to 50 gigs in a month. Every time my bill goes up, I say a thank you to each one of you.

tbh, i pay for unlimited data. ive tethered a few times but not more than checking that i can or to run speed tests. even though i dont really tether, i still use alot of data. thats why i have the unlimited data plan. att knows this. ive been paying them for years to know this.

I'm not going to get into the "well unlimited is unlimited and why does it matter how I use my unlimited." That's an argument that I feel both sides has a good argument for, so why waste the time.
I have no issues if you download gigs of porn to your phone, month after month. My issue is with the people that tether to excess just because they can. I can't tell you how thankful I am that ATT did lose a good amount of customers to VZW when the iP4 hit their shelves. Now those fanboys are bogging down the VZW network and not ours. Now I can only hope that more of these guys look for greener pastures so my bill stops inflating.
att prepared for the iphone originally with its separate apn and all that. it helped but you saw more iphones with down service than other phone users. really set up a bad name for att. has anybody even bought the iphone on verizon? i remember the launch day being a flop, havent really kept up with apple news since then.

I do not tether on excess just because I can. I do it because I have no other means to connect to the internet and It wouldn't be the same on my phone's browser. Yes it has a flash player plugin, but that doesn't mean I can do everything I can do in a computer environment. If I had access to internet by any other means, then I wouldn't tether from my phone. There was no need for you or anyone to be harsh to me without hearing my side of the story thank you very much.

Agree. If I tether a lot in a month, MAYBE I'll cross 2 gigs. I make a point of keeping my tethering light.
However with the new phone I suspect I'll come closer to that 2gig limit a lot more often. (Fortunately I don't have it, since I'm unlimited.)
But 11-20 gigs/month without paying for tethering is just plain irresponsible. With abuse like that I'm surprised you haven't gotten busted and I wouldn't feel sorry for you if you did.
I had a grandfather plan - $20/mo unlimited data.
I've changed 5 or 6 smartphones since I had it, now on Infuse 4G, I'm getting the sucky-ass AT&T 4G speeds, tether to laptop when needed - no tethering plan.
I don't use that much though, about 2GB/month max.
I asked AT&T rep directly about this - she said they'll never change the plan unless I specifically allow it. She said they can't switch me.
well, there is that tethermanager.apk on stock that seems to report back to AT&T if you're tethering.
then if they feel like it they will text you and say "don't keep doing it or we'll swap you to the tethering plan"
you can freeze that with titanium backup (well you need to be rooted too) and that reactivates the stock tethering stuff built into the phone (both mobile ap and usb tethering)

Well that really isn't helpful(since I have already done all that) but thanks. I'm talking about AT&T's "Tether Police" that monitor data spikes and accuse you of tethering if your data seems different for any other month.
Earlier this year, a At&t added a tethering plan to thousands of accounts based on data usage. They also alerted many more they would do the same. I only know of three people to have this done to them

I've been unlimited for years now, i don't know nor care how much data I use. I can tether if I want, which means if my home internet goes down and I need my pc, guess what... I'm tethering. I give att $200 per month for my phone plan over the past 4 years at lest, I highly doubt they'll piss me off and attach a tether plan to my account.

While what you say isn't exactly what happened they have been flagging a very large percentage iPhone users who have tethered even for a matter of 3 minutes.
I currently have an iPhone 4 (should finally have my INFUSE today) and only one time have tethered and probably for less than 30 seconds just to see if the Cydia app worked. All I did was go to speedtest.net and ran the test 2 or 3 times. That was it. About 2 weeks later I got the WARNING text. Plan was never changed. They only will change it if you ignore their warning(s) and do not call them to "discuss" it as they request in their text.
As for me, traveling in North, Central and South NJ, AT&T 3G is virtually useless. Speeds are terrible and the latency is horrendous. I have no idea how people can actually regularly use tethering. I guess it's better in other areas. Been that way through 3 iPhones over 4+ years so I have no desire to tether anyway.
I think the tethering and data caps are completely separate issues. ATT had a plan, or at least the idea, for tiered data plans long before the iPhone was even capable of tethering without being jailbroken. Tethering plans are complete bull****, and I'm sure the FCC will eventually make them illegal. If you pay for a data connection, you should be able to use it any way you want. It's like ATT trying to charge you for the separate phones in your house (or at least a premium to allow you to use more than just one phone). I also think the tethering police are a joke too. I'm sure (especially since they allow sideloading), that any kind of traffic that can be generating by a computer can be replicated in android.
Killed 17GB last month. Now my tether kicks on, I start a download, it drops slowly and crashes. My phone browser even looses internet and I still have "4G." I am just curious to see if anyone else is having the same issue.

you probably are. none of what i'm going to say is verified but my friend told me that verizon will give you 5GB of 4g and then drop you down to 3g. in addition, if you are in the top 5-10% of users of data for a month you will be throttled and they will probably look at what you're doing too.
using 17gb on your phone is not a smart thing to do and you shouldn't do it again. all it does is take bandwidth from others and cause verizon to go to tiered data plans
I used 34gb last month and the month before I used 26gb. I'm not being throttled. My billing month just started and ive burned 6gb already too.
But I wouldn't be surprised if they started throttling me. Lol. Its definitely possible.

Do you work for verizon?
Why is downloading 20gb+ of data bad? If I'm paying for unlimited data that is what I should get. I will take full advantage of it unitl they force us all onto the tiered plans. They can look around all they want at what I'm downloading, I don't care.
Ever hear, "takes on bad apple to ruin it for the rest?"
Just because you CAN doesn't mean you SHOULD.
It's uwhy prices are the way they are. I hope they are throttling abusive users.

you can and should because you pay for it. the prices are rising, because companies need to find ways to make shareholders happy by making more expensive crappier services. if what netflix says is true then that 17GB cost verzion less than a dollar.
With 4G phones it will be commonplace to use that much data. Look at all the streaming media services that come preinstalled and others that are available like netflix. Peoples data usage will continue to increase and the carriers know it.

You are paying for unlimited data for your PHONE not unlimited data for whatever you feel like downloading from whatever device you have. If you were downloading more then 3-4GB on your phone in a month, I'd love to know how you did it, even with 4G. If you have a tethering plan and it is unlimited, then go for it, but if you're going to complain about the data caps and throttling when being part of the problem, GTFO.
I am currently at 41 gb, no problems so far. I did sign up for the unlimited tethering the day it launched though. It was a no brainer for me.

IMO download as much as you want.anyway you want. Throttling is BS.
Its your right to try and screw them and if course they are taking full advantage of their right to screw you.
But we will find a way around these tier data plans just like we find a way around everything else they shackle us with.

A single movie stream could be more than a gigabyte. If i watch one movie a day i could easly hit 30+ gigabytes. That is just streaming to the phone. Correct me if im wrong but that's the point right.

If the bold statement is true, then I wholly agree with this argument. With all the services being offered for the mobile devices, it will be much easier to burn through GB of data. A phone doesn't have to be tethered to anything to stream media.
HBO Go looks like it is streaming low quality video, sometimes worse than YouTube. Netflix, however, looks very crisp and clear and I suspect uses much more data. Sometimes even YouTube HQ looks superb. The last two streaming services probably use a boatload of bandwidth, all legally of course.
This hasn't even taken into account streaming audio with high quality from services like Pandora or Slacker Radio. And yes, the difference between low quality and high quality is very noticeable.
With that said, I really do not know for a fact exactly how much data a movie stream is using. It is just easier these days to use more data with access to high quality streaming media. The service providers probably realize this, and it is probably their justification for going into tiered plans and protecting their assets. This way, when their infrastructure does catch up to the demand, we the users are used to paying more. At this point the service providers might not feel the need to lower prices back to what they once were - it's all just profit.
Got my charge the day before the tiered pricing on data started and am grandfathered in on the unlimited plan. Still lookin for loopholes on how I can keep it that way.
In the three days of having the phone, I had racked up 1.2gb in data. That was just from downloading a few apps and themes as well a moderate pandora usage. Lately, I have been turning off my mobile data and using wifi anytime it's available.
VZW has been talking about moving to a tiered pricing structure for quite some time now. It's rather sad that they push all of the benefits of blazing fast data, then jack up the prices once people are hooked. Fact of the matter is, that from a coverage standpoint, I have nowhere else to go, and they know it.
The ball is in big red's court now. They may lose customers. They may not. But, until I have a more viable solution, I will have to pay.
Sent from my SCH-I510 using XDA Premium App
Could you legitimately rack up several GB/mo streaming media? Yes. Are you going to? Doubtful. Who watches 30+ movies on their phone in a month? You're going to tie yourself to a wall outlet, and given that everyone already complains about bad battery life, you aren't watching that many movies, or that many YouTube videos on your phone.
I could see streaming high quality Pandora, but then again, it seems that everyone here is to cheap to pay for Pandora, so after your 40 hrs are up, there goes your usage, and I doubt you'd get over say 10GB using Pandora for 40 hrs as I can't see even their "high quality" stream being to significant in terms of the bit rate.
Can we use more data now? Most certainly, and 4G only lets us do it faster, but be reasonable in your assumptions. Who has time to watch a movie on their phone every day of the month, or would even want to do so? I'd rather watch a movie on a crappy tube TV before I sat and watched one full movie on my phone. Streaming music is about the only reasonable excuse people have, even with the nice display on the Charge making video look good. Even then, there is no way you're going to use 30+GB every month just on your phone unless you have it constantly plugged in.
does Verizon need tiered plans? Honestly I agree with the fact that you pay for unlimited you get unlimited, no matter how you achieve it. Verizon should just make their hotspot free and then throttle that and put a cap on that is more reasonable than forcing everyone into a data plan that doesn't fit their needs... Verizon is out to screw people so is att and all the rest. Verizon wouldn't have gone to tiered if it weren't for their competition doing the same. One company does one thing all the rest follow suit. Come on verizon! what i pay $100 for insurance or something and if my phone breaks i still have to pay 100$ for a new phone?( I'm sorry refurbished..someone elses broken fix POS) What the heck good is insurance then? The economy is falling apart because of companies doing this. And people pay because they cant get out without a fee and they have no where to go because all the other companies either lack in service or are doing the same practice. Companies are suing each other for millions sometimes billions like its toy cash. That's proof they are ripping off the end user. Where does alll this money come from that should be used to invest in their company not throw it around in other companies faces. Heck was this a common practice even 10 years ago? NO. Cell phone companies have users by the nads and are not going to let go anytime soon
I agree with the OP. If Verizon sells unlimited data, it is their responsibility to provide it. Reaching over ten gb a month is easily achievable (I had one gb in my first day). Just because customers like the OP take advantage of their unlimited data does not mean they should be punished for it with a throttle. IMO, throttling is false advertising. Now, I can see throttling for those who tether through root and rack up an excessive amount of data. However, as long as it's on the phone, its rudiculous to throttle.
wow this is a heated thread.

AT&T revealed today that it has made some adjustments to its data throttling policy for customers still subscribed to legacy unlimited data plans. Customers on these unlimited data plans will now have a higher data cap before throttling kicks in. For those on HSPA+ plans the cap will be 3GB per month, while the cap for LTE customers will be 5GB.
AT&Tâs unlimited data throttling policy was instituted back in October of the last year, but the company never did reveal in detail what the data cap would be for throttling, merely stating that only its top 5 percent of heaviest data users would be affected. Early last month, the company came under fire when some customers discovered that their unlimited data plans were being throttled after reaching only 2GB of data use, despite the plans costing the same as a current tiered 3GB plan.
It looks like enough pressure was applied that AT&T is now responding by raising the data cap and being more transparent about exactly where those thresholds sit. The caps are now 3GB for HSPA+ subscribers and 5GB for LTE subscribers, which is certainly a welcome boost up from the 2GB cap that appeared to be in force regardless of whether a customer was on an HSPA+ or LTE unlimited data plan. Users can check their monthly data usage by dialing â*data#â on their mobile phones.

Wow, that's a lot of data! I use around 10Gb average, and I'm pissed about being limited to 5Gb. In fact, last month was the first month I have ever been throttled. That's far from "Unlimited". And don't give me that BS that "they don't promise unlimited speeds". At 0.14Mbps I can't get one damn song to buffer on Google Music. It's freaking terrible! Google maps is near impossible to use. They might as well turn our data off at those piss poor speeds!
I just hope we can get at least one dev to come up with a solution so we can stick it to AT&T!
Damn 10gb.
I hit my max of 3gb last month. That was mostly google music streaming, FB, EAS mail, web, and RDP connections.

THey throttled me last month without notification. Took a level 3 tiered Engineer to tell me they had a glitch in the system with unlimited data users. I said BS and they gave me my last months data charges refunded. It was just a matter of time before ATT got tired of taking heat for this hot topic.
Canceled my unlimited data plan two weeks ago to change to the 3GB tiered plan, because they were throttling me at 2GB. This "update" to the unlimited plan makes me furious!
att made a webpage on their site explaining this

Some of these users that you are disparaging do have jobs that require them to leave their homes (for days sometimes). Some of them are drivers and are on the road most of their time. Some work in jobs that have closed networks.
It would be nice if everyone was living on welfare or disability checks, sitting at home achieving those 800 gig a month stats.

Tru, but if they're in the road working, ur telling me that 10+ gigs is only emails and work communiques? I think not lol
The reason I use around 10Gb a month is that I can't use wifi at my job because we are hard wired due to the work we do (very secure), so I stream a lot at my job. Also, my gym doesn't have wifi and I work out 4-5 days a week (@ a minimum 2 hours each time) so I'm usually streaming music via Google music there. It's easy for me to chew through data, but I just don't have access to wifi very often.

I'm sure that if we keep trying, we may get the cap raised, at the very least for us LTE users, let the 3G users (See: iPhone) stay stuck at 3GB, us LTE users (just need an LTE phone) deserve more.
i streamed netflix to my phone constantly for a whole billing cycle and maxed out at 9 gb and thats the most intensive app on the market. Whoever said they use 20+ gigs a month is a little crazy and i do believe when people use that much it does hurt the other users on the network. and to the guy that said hes streaming stuff at his job...how come if your job is so secure how are you allowed to plop down and stream movies or music? it baffles me how i tested it and maxed out at 9 gigs but some people can get 20+ in one month. That's too much. Also you will find out that if people continue to do that instead of allowing you to keep the unlimited when you sign up for a new contract they wont let you take the unlimited with you. Also i streamed music for 5 hours on pandora and it only hit 150 mb of data so you must be either never sleeping and on your phone 24 hours a day or abusing your unlimited data plan.
By abusing your unlimited plan i mean you tethering it to a computer and downloading large files hmm i think i might be right

I'd like to know what you think of a guy like me that has to drive for a living bringing merchandise from big warehouses from across this nation to retailers so you and everyone else can buy what they need on a daily basis, and not only merchandise but groceries for your nearest food store and you come here and judge my high usage, who are you to judge the long and lonely nights i have to be away from my family so that you and everyone else can go to they're nearest grocery store and buy they' re food to put on your table. Next time stop and think before you call someone crazy for using 20+GB or more a month.

I can see how being on the road and constantly using ur phone can get you 20GB of data. Personally I feel AT&T should have a separate special plan for people who are on the road all the time due to work. Thanks for bringing us stuff btw!
