Best kernel for ns4g??? - Nexus S Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have been having the morning lockup bug happening for the past couple of days. I am running cm7.1 stable with the stock kernel. I tried matrix 9.5 and kept having freezing issues. Any suggestions for a good stable kernel? I do not overclock or undervolt. Thanks in advance.

I just recently came from the epic. What is the difference between bfs and cfs? Which is more stable?

Best rom to use right now?

I would like to know what you guys here think is the best and the most stable rom right now. (I put this here since it is dealing with roms but please move to Q&A if it needs to be)

The bionix rom is excellent especially with the trinity 1.3 ghz kernel and then there's cyanogen. So far they all seem stable

another vote for BioniX
Do not use Trinity add-on if you want to use Bluetooth
I'm using Modaco's Custom Rom r3. Runs perfectly and gives me the best battery life out of all the Roms I've tried.

Rom/kernel

I'm using MIUI 1.7.22 w/Matr1x v5.0 bfs and performance and batt life has been good. Koushdecks 1.2.1 is also good as well, Mikeys roms are pretty sweet too. But everyone has different taste on these kind of things. So try to use one that fits you best. I usually just switch from rom to rom once in awhile.
I'm using oxygen 2.1.6 just come from cm7.1

MIUI 1.7.22 with Matrix and my own build based off Koush's with Netarchy
the latest cm7 kang with an unreleased(yet) Trinity11 UV kernel.
Miui seems laggy or maybe I had the wrong kernel?

I think that's for the ns only. Or am I wrong?
Brainmaster MIUI with Matr1x cfs...

I'm using Matr1x 5.0 cfs kernel with stock ROM. I haven't OC'd but the native settings seems to be giving me a good balance between speed, stability and battery life.

Kernals. which and why.

So which kernal do you prefer, and why do you prefer that kernal?
Which do you prefer?

Well I like matrix KERNEL cuz it has been really smooth for me. I also like bugles Pete's KERNEL cuz it also makes my phone run really smooth. But it all depends on the phone also. It could run good for me but u could have issues. I say just test them all out and see what feels better for u.

I use Yennob-Base "Base1 -1.2 Overclock | Tiny Undervolt" by dfbonney, which can be found here.
im using miui with morfics teuv88 kernel. miui runs really smooth and it saves lots of battery. also try the other trinity kernels and the matrix kernel.
so now its your turn, flash and use them and decide whats the best kernel for you and your rom.

I've been on matr1x and I just upgraded to the latest version 6.5 and I've had no issues. Maybe over the weekend I will try a new one and report back.

I think they're referring to Eugene's kernel found here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1420912
And I agree, Codename Android and Eugene's kernel have been the best combo for me

I've run several ICS ROMs since getting my NS and I would definately concur that Codename is fantastic. They're on 1.4 now I believe.
I would definitely try Air Kernel by r_data as well. Its so smooth. Best I've tried yet.
