[Q] Is there a better camera app? - Nexus S Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey, guys! I'm coming from the Epic 4G to the Nexus S here.
I miss the physical camera button on the Epic 4G and even the stock camera app from the Epic. A big thing on the stock Nexus S camera app is the lack of touch to focus. What's up with that?
My question is there a camera app or something I can turn on to make the Nexus S touch to focus? It's driving me crazy that I can't do that. Thanks!

hmmmm , what exactly does "touch focus " mean ?
i have seen some camera apps , but they are not free
maybe you should try flash MIUI ROM and see its camera , it's better then stock one

Touch to focus is where you touch the screen and the camera focuses on the particular point you touched.

Wouldn't the camera apk from MIUI work on other ROMs? The MIUI camera is much better than stock imo.

是触点对焦么。。。。。。。?

CM7 allows touch to focus.

And re-assigning the volume keys as a physical camera button.

Mytouch 4G slide camera?

Does anyone know if the camera is actually that different from the sensations or is it just a different camera app?

Couple diff lines in the script for the no shot delay, and the panorama shot. The camera has been somewhat ported over in our apps section. Some people report it working, others can't get it to work.

The slide has a better hardware camera. It has a f2.2 aperture lens. Basically it can let in more light. HTC says its the best camera ever on a phone which I say is BS. They probably forgot about Nokia's Lenses. They make the best camera phones.

Camera - any way to manually focus?

When working with the camera, sometimes the autofocus seems fickle and does not get the focus good. Is there any way I can do manual focus? Do I need another app for that?
Thanks

Yes just touch the screen when you are in the camera app. A small white box will appear and you can manually focus.

So long as he's using the stock Camera app!
No...he wants to set the focus distance by putting values like 5 cm, 6 cm or so...
This feature is mostly found in LG's cam appz

[Q] Replacement Camera App

Hey guys, coming from the epic I an missing the great camera options it had. Does anyone have a good app they use for pictures? I'm not looking for better output, but options like panoramic and whatnot.
Thanks in advance for the suggestions.
The stock ICS camera app can take panoramic shots, albeit in not very good quality. For a replacement app, I'd recommend Camera zoom FX (was on sale for 10 cents awhile ago). It really depends on what features you're looking for though.

Camera360 as well here
I use an app called "Pano" for panoramic shots.

lgCamera is also a good, free alternative with lots of options.
Is there one with zoom, or is that not possible on the nexus a 4G?

I'm using Camera Zoom FX and Vignette. Both are very good i think.
Both have a Zoom but of course only a digital zoom.
If you don't have a zoomable lense (nexus phones dont have) then only digital zoom is possible, which has a poor quality and you can do better yourself on your computer.

You realize since it's a fixed lens that any zoom will only be digital? Thus it's simply like cropping a larger picture to see a smaller section...
Edit: Didn't notice blackg3cko already mentioned this. My bad.

[Q] Damn Camera Won't Focus when I Touch the Screen - WHY? Running Weapon?

Hi.
As the title says, my CAMERA won't focus based on my touch. I guess I am just used to it from other Android phones. Any way to have this?
Thanks
The only modes with the Gingerbread Camera are Auto, Infinity and Macro. I do not think there is a manual focus.
CyanogenMod and MIUI have touch-to-focus options. You can also try out uCam in the market. Probably the best camera app out there. And it's free!

Definitely. Stock takes a much smaller picture, more square-sized, and is quite often blurred on mine. Sweep panorama is the only upside to the stock Android camera.
184 is from sense
547 is from liquids ROM

Hey guys, I've been meaning to try CM for a while but the HTC Camera app has kept me with sense. Does the CM Camera app have HDR built in?

It has HDR but it's not that good and often appears blurry because the camera drivers aren't perfect yet
