I'm so dissapointed with sense. Went to tmo store yesterday, left without upgrading. So many disappointing phones. Played with sensation and mt4gs, absolutely hated sense on both. Laggy, choppy, finger swipes not consistantly responsive.
I am still going for the sensation. Can't stand sense, and am going to use a home replacement i guess.
So when s-off becomes available and the phone can be rooted /etc, will it be possible to remove sense, disable it, or just end up flashing a new rom without sense in it? Stupid sense kills the ram on this phone.

Yeah, for sure. I think people don't fully understand what s-off will allow. You will be able to flash whatever rom you want. It really just depends on what roms the devs make for us. And I assure you, there will be a selection of senseless roms. CM7 being the all star senseless rom that will almost definitely be available for our device.

Check the developers section. We do have temp root and can disable most everything. ViperMod makes it easy.
Yes, you can install CyanogenMod and never deal with Sense again!

Hello,
I was wondering if there is any way to disable the 3D Cube Rotation in HTC Sense. Whenever I unlock my phone, I have to wait a couple of seconds to see the desktops rotate... very beutiful, but useless...
Nope.

What ROM are you using? It might be a kernel issue
Revolution HD at the moment, but I wouldnt mind using other rom if it fixes it (I need sense though)... lets wait, I cant be the only one bothered by this feature...
Thanks for your replies
I think you're the only one GETTING the feature...if it was an issue a lot more people would have mentioned it. Although saying that, I had your issue when using the Smartass governor
Sorry EddyOS, I did not explain myself correctly.
I dislike the HTC Sense 3.0 feature that makes the desktops rotate in a 3D cube when unlocking the phone before finally displaying the home screen.
It is not a bug or problem, I just dont like it and would like to disable it if possible.
Ah, the animation itself? No, that can't be turned off. You'd need to use a different launcher
oh I see... Thank you!

I also hate this one. :-(
Bulletproof rom from romanbb has the option to disable this annoying animation. Just dont understand why it is not included as option in other roms..really dont know what it is good for..

JuiceDefender Ultimate has the ability to do this as it replaces the lock screen with a simple push button to unlock. No animation. Better battery life as well.
I came to Android from Blackberry. Whether it was the old trackball or the optical trackpad, it was possible to adjust the sensitivity, thus adjusting your scrolling speed. Set the sensitivity lower, you have smoother, slower, line-by-line scrolling. Higher, and you have faster scrolling that jumps page by page. I know most people probably dont use the trackpad on the sk4g because it is touchscreen, but i would be interested to know if there is a way to adjust the sensitivity of the trackpad? anyone who knows please reply.
Nope not that i know of. you could ask the mt3g og forums they have a track ball
no disrespect, but "not that i know of" is not a definitive answer. secondly, why would i ask the mt3g forum? its a completely different device, in case you werent aware.
Well they have a trackball like blackberries had and also this issue hasn't been asked before on sk4g xda forums

can i hear from anyone else?
Yeah I don't think you can adjust sensitivity. Never seen it before.

Not as of yet, personally im looking into it since no one else really has, and as you can tell the development on this device is kinda of lacking. But maybe there is a app from the MT4G or some other phone with an optical track pad that will work. Im looking into this.
Hi everyone. Could someone point me to where I can disable the backlight on the capacitive buttons? Find it annoying they stay on while watching video in a dark setting. Thanks

I'd like to know, too. Very distracting when watching Netflix in a dark room.
That will most likely be something fixed in a ROM...there is not a way I know of to disable with stock ROM..be a while since bootloader is still locked as of today..checked htcdev.com today...bummer..

Don't get me wrong--I am thrilled with this phone. But I find it completely shocking that nobody at HTC ever tried to watch a video on it and said, "hey, these three bright lights are really freaking annoying!"
I actually have the opposite problem. Half the time my backlight does not work. It will work awhile after reboot but then will stop again. Not sure how to fix it.

I've used the app adjbrightness in the past. I haven't tested yet because it requires root and haven't rooted yet. hope this helps.
I would also like a solution for this.
Lots of little quirks with the software where you'd think HTC would have noticed it. This is a big one in my opinion.
How in the world could you forget to time out the lights when a video is being played. Or give a setting for it.
How could you leave out the stock keyboard and ONLY provide your crappy bloated Sense keyboard? atleast have it installed, so users can have the option.
In the browser, wheres the tab button? why have the user hop through menus and different windows when Tabs are the FUTURE! and stock on ICS.
HTC RUINED! the browser.
Excellent hardware, brought down by senseless sense designers.
Sense UI makes absolutely no sense.
Hi all
I'm very torn as to which ROM I stay on.
I've been switching between Viper ROM & CM10. Both are awesome ROMs but I can't decide which I prefer more.
I really like the integration that sense gives you over AOSP but can't get away from the fact that CM 10 is giving amazing battery life.
If anyone can steer me in any direction I'd appreciate it.

Im on jb because its smooth and stable.
Sense has great options. But so does cmx

Nobody can really make the descision for you. You need to decide which is more important for you, good intergration of apps, or better battery life? After that, it's an easy choice to make.
I really like both for those reasons, back on viper again now will probably check CMX soon

why not just keep both on your phone and change to which ever one you fancy with boot manager................sudeki300
Go with one and commit to it. It's like when you're dating two girls at once, and they're both great, but eventually you have to pick one or the other. You're playing with their emotions. Do you want the bust y blonde in sense, or the amazing personality brunette with maybe some aesthetic flaws? You just have to tell one to take a hike and go all in with the other. Pimp out CM10, enjoy Sense 4s beauty, whatever.
For me, I'm a CM10 guy even though sense is much better for organizational purposes right of the bat. But the thing is, I can organize just fine with CM10, just takes a little more customization.
Sent from my HTC Sensation using xda app-developers app
That's a fantastic way to put it. I'm going to try CMX and few different launches, any recommend launches, reading loads of post but personal experience is alway more valuable

I stick with Sense because Wifi-calling is a must for me, but if cm10 had that, I would definitely head in that direction.
Decided to go with CM10 for now.

The deal breaker for me is wifi-calling. When that exists on jellybean, then I will switch.

has anyone tried seeing if the ICS version works on JB? Maybe its worth a go...
Well I'm back on Viper now, started to experience multiple problems on the latest build of CM10, will probably revisit it when its a bit more (although it is pretty good already)

what do you like about sense so much? the camera app?
I'm on Sense 4 and I don't plan on going to JB unless we get an official kernel or ffc is fixed.
My memory card have 15gb of full hd songs...so sense is good for me because playback of some codec in every player sucks in cmx....And the customization of viper also attracts me...so am in viper

I'm on sense arhd
Cm10 my battery always ran hot for some reason.
Sense always kept me coming back

Sense just feels more fluid and connected. For example, clock weather widget, tap on the time and it takes you straight to alarm clock, timer, stop watch. Tap the weather and you get the forecast.
To achieve the same on an AOSP Rom, needed to find a clock widget (fancy sense) then a timer and stop watch app, then a weather app and then set the widget up to open the secondary apps.

for me its the whole UI, to me it just looks good and feels fluid and fast to use. Tbh I dont use camera app at all, if I want to take a photo, I have a dedicated camera...
My whole life I've used AOSP until about 2 months ago. With sense I feel the phone is just more intact, by that I mean stuff just works. Like the kernel has no hacks or whatever, all the libs are there, all the kernel codes, hardware and software seem to cooperate more. I personally feel the sensation was meant to run sense, despite not liking the aesthetic look, everything is fluid and works wonderful
