[Q] HTC Desire S - 2.3.5 Sense 3.0 BUT IT`S LAGGY - HTC Desire S

Hello people,
I am Radu, a Romanian guy, I`ve recently brought HTC Desire S, I previously had Samsung Galaxy S, but I liked very much the Desire S so I pulled away the Galaxy S, I bought the HTC Desire S especially for HTC Sense 3.0 and android 2.3.5, you know... better UI ... and this things... more ram... i tought it was better than SGS.
So, here I am with HTC Desire S and Android 2.3 version, HTC Sense 2.1, very smooth, no lag between homescreen transition, verry hapy with this phone... BUT... I heard from internet, friends , that the new Android version 2.3.5 with HTC Sense 3.0 has arrived for Desire S, so I went with my phone, in vodafone center, left him there for the operators hands to update him... all great no problem they called me next day, told me that they`ve updated my phone to 2.3.5 and HTC Sense 3.0... so I went to pick up my phone... went home...BUT when I started using it and scrolling through User Interface, I found my phone very slow, and laggy !! so my question is : What can I do now to go back to sense 2.1 ?
I have read from this forum in HTC Desire S section about this lag... I`ve found that I`m not the only person who has lag...I`m a bit noob in HTC since I`ve had a Samsung Galaxy S ... for me they are different...SO ?
Is there a way to get back to sense 2.1 ? please... mine is laggy I don`t mean laggy in terms that apps are opening in 5 seconds ...they open normally BUT in homescreen the phone is LAGGY !! I want my Sense 2.1 BACK
Thank you guys . I hope you can help me guys ! Thanks again !!!

My hboot is 2.00.0002

go to service and tell them to reflash ur phone.if ur not s-off and no root we cant help u but if u have garantee go to servis again and tell them whats wrong...they will fix u r phone...they screwed somthing..sense 3.0 runs very smooth..3.5 too.

well thats the folks over at htc for you. cuz every sense 3 or 3.5 rom ive tried was never laggy at all, maybe a tad but not horrible

it should be in settings somewhere, or you could do it through recovery by powering off, the power on holding vol. down and power and select factory reset

but would this solve my problem ? as I said... i don`t have problems with opening apps... in games the phone is smooth I play games with no problem !!! but in homescreen is laggy !!! i think sense 3.0 causes this

a few options
1 - try a different launcher
2 - root your phone and over clock,
3 - try a task killer like advanced task manager and put the widget on your home screen so you can kill apps when it goes laggy

1. I`ve tried launcher pro plus , it works great but no htc sense widgets
2. how to root ? I don`t want to overlock it... if i don`t want to overclock... will root with no overclock do something??
3. I`ve tried a taskiller and not great results...can you recommend me a good taskiller ? I`ve tried Advanced Taskiller but I didn`t liked it ... i`ve heard that on market exists more... and better ones...but don`t know their names...

no rooting itselfbwont do much, but its not dangerous as long as you dont go above about 1.5ghz, and if you root and flash a custom rom like RCmix youll see a inprovement. and check the dev section to learn how to root, if you look, im pretty sure someone can walk you through the proccess. id help you but id be a bit dificult on mobile
i can help you in a bit when i get home if you like

sorry but none of these are valid options
1) why bother with new launcher sense 3 had Rosie and as you say you'll miss the whole Benefit of sense
2) over clocking - sense 3 and even sense 3.5 can both run without lag on less then default clock speeds so need to unnecessarily waste battery by over clocking
3) auto task killers shouldn't be used on GB, they actually will only have a negative impact on both your devices performance and battery
Again I'd recommend you try a full reset, this should be in settings-storage-factory data reset or as an option from the boot loader menu

Disable HTC Sense Cube Rotation?

Hello,
I was wondering if there is any way to disable the 3D Cube Rotation in HTC Sense. Whenever I unlock my phone, I have to wait a couple of seconds to see the desktops rotate... very beutiful, but useless...
Nope.
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using XDA App
What ROM are you using? It might be a kernel issue
Revolution HD at the moment, but I wouldnt mind using other rom if it fixes it (I need sense though)... lets wait, I cant be the only one bothered by this feature...
Thanks for your replies
I think you're the only one GETTING the feature...if it was an issue a lot more people would have mentioned it. Although saying that, I had your issue when using the Smartass governor
Sorry EddyOS, I did not explain myself correctly.
I dislike the HTC Sense 3.0 feature that makes the desktops rotate in a 3D cube when unlocking the phone before finally displaying the home screen.
It is not a bug or problem, I just dont like it and would like to disable it if possible.
Ah, the animation itself? No, that can't be turned off. You'd need to use a different launcher
oh I see... Thank you!

I also hate this one. :-(
Bulletproof rom from romanbb has the option to disable this annoying animation. Just dont understand why it is not included as option in other roms..really dont know what it is good for..

JuiceDefender Ultimate has the ability to do this as it replaces the lock screen with a simple push button to unlock. No animation. Better battery life as well.

[Q] Sense 3.0 3D "tilt"

I think I'm going to know the answer to this - but is there a way of disabling the 3D tilt effect on sense 3.0? Desire S non-root and stock.
Just to confirm, it's the effect on the homescreen when you tilt the phone that's bugging me, turns out I rarely hold my phone straight and it bugs me!
Thanks in advance.
Titling my phone (Stock, not rooted) does nothing when on the home screen

Exactly...!! That's why i was wondering how he got 3D tilt to work on his stock ROM without the RcMix tweaks!!!
I haven't had a single stock ROM with that feature!!
I haven't it too. It's curious. What version firmware you have?
I'm running 2.10.401.5 - as previously stated another hard reset got rid of it; it looks like the effect is built in, but HTC have just got rid of the option to enable it and mine enabled it somehow!
I have the same version as you. Interesting...

[Q] Transition Effects

Hey guys, simply put i am a noob This is my first post on these forums and i need a little help with my HTC Sensation 4G (T-Mobile, Rooted) I have searched for a similar thread but i could not find a really helpful answer. I want to change the home screen transition effects on my Sensation and i could not find how to do this. I do not want something like SPB Shell 3D because that changes the whole 'Sense 3.0' experience. I want some different transition effects on my homescreen because the outside cube effect is really boring.I want something without giving up Sense 3.0. I have already tried Anim Mod but that did not really help.
Thanks For helping a noob out guys

Oh give over, don't have a go. Some people like sense and its UI, I like it but I can also appreciate that some people don't like it but I dont go round having a go at those who prefer an alternative launcher. It's his opinion so let it be and get over it
EDIT: to answer the question, no unfortunately the cube animation cannot be changed without going to alternate launchers. If you use an alternative launcher AFAIK you won't be able to use sense widgets

There is a ROM for the sensation (I'm not sure which one) that if you are using 4ext touch recovery with the yes/no function you can choose to have the 3d effect removed, just a flat slide like in earlier sense. Hope this helps!

Hey Guys, i installed MIUI on Android version 2.3.7 and i tried to install Android Revolution HD and when i flashed PG58IMG.ZIP it said the model number is wrong on the bootloader screen and it won't let me get to recovery (4EXT) so I have to take the memory card out to get to recovery. Also i backed up my data, used SuperWipe, and flashed Android Revolution and restarted, my phone gets stuck on the HTC Quietly Brilliant Screen and won't boot. So then i took the memory card out an the battery out, and put it back in to get to recovery mode and i went back to MIUI.
What Should I do?
Thanks Guys
Will anybody help with the problem above? ^
Thanks

Removing HTC Sense

ARHD 6.5.1XE
Sense 3.6
Version 4.0.3
Ok, pretty sure I rooted the phone properly(no problems at all, besides battery) and did all the right wipes and what not, just too noob to detail it the right way.
Have tried to calibrate the battery to no avail. Used Current Widget, waited till 0 mA then deleted batterystats.bin with root explorer...also tried it using battery calibration app.
So, my next guess is Sense. I have read its a battery hog...how exactly do I remove it? And will that effect my one gmail account? I also don't use the Sense FB or Twitter, I use the offical apps...not sure if those work without sense either...

The battery drainer is sense account.. Not sense launcher
If you have htc sense account just remove it
To check for it
Go to settings-accounts and sync
If there is htc sense account there just delete the account. It's a hella battery drainer
To remove sense launcher .. There is an easy way.. Just use another launcher..
Apex launcher, go ex launcher Or any other

Try this aosp mod,it will remove sense from ur phone. before doing anything make a backup of ur phone and have 4ext recovery..

I would also encourage you to just use a different launcher and remove the Sense account. The Sense camera, contacts, and lockscreen are far superior to stock.

see my previous post in this same thread for removing sense account.
for launchers
i found nova launcher and apex launcher equally good (just down load the apps and run them )
So I looked under accounts and sync and I actually don't even have a Sense account synced...only my gmail, FB, Twitter, and Weather. I'm not exactly sure what you all who say the sense launcher are talking about...but I do know I have 4ext recovery. Anyways...I can't figure this battery out at all...Spare Parts shows HTC Sense on the very top in my usage statistics...and on my battery history graph it shows a near complete solid bar on Awake, even when screen is off...but my battery has only been in 50 min since last reboot. I stopped using this phone a few days b/c the battery life issue. Perhaps I need to hang around a battery thread and post some screen shots to get help

I'd try a senseless rom, ie virtuous or hypernonsense.

If you want to remove Sense, you have to root and install a custom ROM.
I like this ICS Rom, and I don't want to lose a lot of the features it has, particularly the stock camera. It claims to have great battery life. I think I just have to get to the bottom of it, then I'll be happy. But the current battery life makes it almost useless when I am away from home.

Is there going to be Sense 5.0 Rom for HTC desire s

The new HTC one/m7 will have the new sense 5.0 and sense 5.0 will be lighter. So for it being lighter adds about 30% of chance of there being a sense 5.0 Rom for HTC desire s. What other info is there about sense 5.0 rom for HTC desire s?

Officially by htc? I highly doubt it as the last update for our phone was the R&D ICS Rom.
Via port? May or may not come, depending if resizing will be achieved, among other things.
Dont get your hopes up for this one.

I don't think so that HTC will release to Desire S. Looks like they dropped support for this phone. Sadly... :/
on desire hd, sensation and incredible s porting sense 5, come on someone port sense 5 skin etc for desire s
Officially : Never!
Cocked ROM : Maybe, but we'd have to wait so so long ... AFAIK, we recently had some sense 4.1 ROMs but no full sense 4+/4.5 ROMs yet ... so by the time we get sense 5 ROM (if ever, one or two years), the DS would be antique and most of us might be using newer phones.
Officially, no chance.
Port? Not so sure. Will take a long time I suspect, and there are hardly any devs left working on this device, no most unlikely you wont see Sense 5 on this device.

I hope we get it cause there lots of sense things that make sense. Lol
On a serious note many new phones are quad core will the desire s 1ghz and adrenal 205 have the necessary processing power to run sense 5 smoothly. Are there any new sense 5 phones with similar specs to the DS?
i dont think so
The new sense will come with the new phone for me .. i dont think we got chance for sense 5 guys
So is it possible? Can someone port it??
Desire S hardly runs full sense 4 , it wont stand a chance on sense 5,
And where did sense 4.5 go?

i think thantos2024 said he might try doing a sense5 port...
hmm, dont forget this device came with Android 2.3 and Sense 2.1 now we're with Android 4.1 and Sense 5. Is it worth it?
Technically a port is possible, but difficult. (ea different processor architecture, screen resolution = resizing and more... who knows what they could've hidden more)
Plus there should be enough dev motivation. sorry but i prefer building from source now

On the no offence side Fallout has only some full Sense stuff as lockscreen, recent apps, etc ported in. But it is and always will remain lite Sense not full. Full Sense lags very ugly on our device so razi pointed this right

Truth be told I think that porting Sense 5.0 is like fitting Ferrari's 4,5 litre V8 into Fiat 500. It just won't work. I mean I would like that but the performance would be terrible. I really like my DS especially beacaouse I bought it recently but I don't think that Sense 5.0 will make it to our phone any possible way. Honestly I'm really glad that there are people like Flinny in here that are porting lightweight AOSP or Cyanogen to DS becaouse it's one of the best single core devices for the money out there. It's still much more powerful and better designed than for exampe new Desire C. We have 768 mb of ram and Qualcomm MSM8255 that can easily get it to 1,5Ghz (that is this CPU native clocking on Flyer) or even further but Full Sense 4/5 need more power. I guess dualcore with newer architecture at least. Still if someone would take this challenge I would be happy to test

I dont think installing more apps make the phone 'lag' as the smoothness whether scrolling or playing game is dependent on the 'ram' availability. so what influence the ram availability is what is running at the background, and these app that are taking up the ram availability is the apps that we open ourselves and fail to exit it properly, causing it to be hanging in the background.
So a 'rom' itself doesn't lag after a week/month of using, it lags because users fail to exit them, that's why a reboot helps as it kills them. Get a task killer, hide system apps and only shows your games/browser because those will eat those rams the most.
