If a modem is cwm flashable, do I just boot into recovery and select the file or is there more to the process?delete something first? Tried to do a quick search, but am at work and tethering from a coworkers phone at the moment. My network 3g isn't working... thanks for the help!

If it's a CWM flashable modem zip, you can flash from CWM without having to do anything else.
You flash it in recovery just like you would a rom. In the future please post questions in the q&a section.

Thanks for the help! About to give it a shot. I tried to use the tweakker app to check on my apn setting and it said that I was selecting the wrong carrior or that I do not have a data plan. This happened after flashing a new rom.

Why wouldn't a deodexed vibrant 4g rom from stock work on a vibrant 4g?
Has anyone flashed this yet?

There is still no correct cwm to flash this. If you do try you will mess up your phone. Do not use.

Last night I acctually got CWM to install and do a nandroid backup OK, but I forgot to backup the backup directory before continuing to flash the 4G_Fix then as everyone found out it wiped my External SD. I guess that's what happens when you stay up too late. I was able to Oden-Tar back a couple times but could not get the CWM to do a clean backup after that. Sure wish I had that backup file.... Oh Well...
Since this doesn't have CWM, this will not work.

I accidentally flashed the auckf1 radio on my i9023. And I'm not able to flash into any thing else. I keep getting a signature error. Please help. Thanks in advance.

I did the same thing with my I9020T, I accidentally used the 4G one click unroot and it installed a 4G rom on my T-mobile NS. Now when I try to flash a stock rom for the I9020T it gives me a signature verification errror, I'm still trying to figure it out
I haven't tried it out yet but I have a theory. The recovery on my phone I realised is the default Google one. Not CWM so I'm gonna try and reflash CWM and try to install an i9023 stock rom.
It you have a comp around try it would you? I'm not getting home for a while :/

Go get the correct rom then rename it to update.zip move it to the root of your sd
Go in stock fastboot mode
Go to recovery hit the power button and when you see the the android question mark guy hold volume up and power
Go to apply update.zip and when your on your correct rom do this process to flash any stock rom
You should just flash the correct ICS rom ,good luck and please read read and when you think you got it read some more
BEST DAMN PHONE BECAUSE WE HAVE THE BEST DAMN DEVELOPERS!
Another way I can think of is to flash koushs recovery img in fastboot mode and restore one of your backups, hopefully you didn't delete them because there still there but you have to fastboot flash recovery recovery.img to see them

I tried using the default Google recovery to flash back. Hopeless. I keep getting the security error. I'm pretty sure Koush’s cwm will be able to fix it but I need a damn computer!

Solved. I flashed CWM. Flashed a rom(CyberGR) and a baseband(XXKB3) and I realized my efs was screwed. I restored my efs with Root explorer. And done. Problem solved.
I have the same problem too, and I used this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1396224 to boot using recovery mode. It works!
Ok folks, here's the NANDROID backup I made of the stock Rogers ICS firmware:

It is from a fresh boot and non-rooted.

awesome, can't wait to get home! The connection speed at work is terrible.
I'm going to set this up and see if I like it better than CM9, I really doubt it but I've got to try!
Well done sir

so basically I'll just nandroid my CM9 ROM, reboot to recovery, flash Rogers ICS, flash superuser.zip and reboot, correct?
the firmware is also available on sammobile.com

Just out of curiosity, does this flash the modem as well? I seem to be "stuck" with ULCE2, even after using ODIN to go back to stock Rogers ROM.

Nope. No modem. Just flash another if you don't like LE2. And the experience won't change. You'll never prefer stock over CM9. I already know what to expect. This is great for developing but i see no point in downloading just to try it out. You'll be disappointed.

I've linked the modem files to Seanzscreams. I don't know how to create a CWM flashable zip for them or I would do so for you. I'm sure Sean will come up with it for us.

I was under the impression that the ODIN tar's contained the modem which would be flashed as well. Anyone know where I can get my hands on the the stock Rogers modem? I'd like to flash it so I can either update through Kies, or flash the new stock ROM.

The ODIN tar does have the modem, I just can't give you a CWM flashable zip file at this time.
You can flash the ODIN tar though.
Anybody tried to flash on the skyrocket?
So, im currently running CM9 and I have done teh following trying to flash the rom in the OP
-made Nand backup
-wipe (data, cache, dalvik)
-format system
-selected the new rom to flash, and I get the following message
Installing: /emmc/ICS_ROGERS_I727RUXLF3_CWM_FLASHABLE.zip

I just flashed the stock Rogers in ODIN. It does not have the modem. My phone is still showing UCLE2 in the system information. Unless I'm doing something incorrectly...
For the record, I'm referring to the old Rogers stock tar. I'll try the one for this new update and see what happens.

You need to wipe all of the folders in CWM including /system and clear all caches in CWM before flashing the ODIN file if you want the modem to take. It's weird like that.

Thanks for the info. I just flashed the tar for the new Rogers stock and it looks like it wrote the modem
I asked this in dev section with no answers.. Is this release form Rogers based on a new kernal or the same old one as Sky ICS was based on?
Everything was fine with the root however I used a font app installer that got the phone stuck in a boot loop (on the rainbow screen). How do I get back to rooted JB?
Did you do a back up of your original rom? You need to get back into recovery...
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda app-developers app
No I didn't. I didn't see that in the instructions or I missed it. Any thoughts on how to get back to rooted JB?
Well if the font app got you into the boot loop then I don't think you lost root, I would get back into recovery wipe cache and hit reboot... See if that works... Good luck
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda app-developers app
Unfortunately, I tried that. I think I did an accidental factory reset too but nothing has brought it back from the boot rainbow screen.
Did you unlock using EZ Unlock v1.2? You only mentioned that you rooted.
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda app-developers app
No, I didn't use that. I followed the instructions to root found here (worked no problem until I met that $&#^%#& app) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2046439 I think I can reset using Odin I just don't know what to use
Aight, well did you unlock the bootloader? Your response dictates the suggested route to resolve this.
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda app-developers app
I did follow the instructions to unlock the bootloader
If that's the case then you just need to boot into recovery and flash a rom. If you were running just stock rooted & unlocked VRBLK3, it's easier to just flash a rooted stock rom like the official VRBLK3 leak here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2034118
Try just flashing that, without wiping, then boot into the rom.
or
If you were on a custom rom, just reflash that rom via recovery and you'll be fine. Unfortunately you lose all your settings of you wipe data in recovery so try reflashing either option without wiping if you absolutely need to try recovering whatever data already exists in your current rom. If this doesn't work, format data, wipe cache then flash the rom.
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda app-developers app
I will give it a shot and let you know. Thanks so much! I was on stock ROM btw.
Cool, this should work

Ok, this is a zip file. Does it have to be on the phone? If so, how do I put it there?

Yes it does need to be there. If you have an sdcard just drag and drop onto it directly then flash in your custom recovery. Conversely, you should be able to boot into recovery and try connecting your phone to the laptop then dragging the zip over.
The longer method will be to Odin flash VRBLK3 and start all over from there.

I went there but it didn't seem to do anything when I selected mount sdcard and conversely didn't connect either

Aight well since that failed, you have to do this the long way: Odin flash the VRBLK3 rooted image from your laptop onto your phone. Choose one of the two images for VRBLK3 and follow the directions.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1984436
Edit: I realize I didn't ask but do you have an sd card?
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda app-developers app
That worked! Thanks so much. Now, what is the best practice for backing things up so that I don't have this problem again? Should I root first then backup? Do I still have to unlock bootloader? Just wanting to handle this properly from this point forward.
It should be rooted already if you installed the Odin files from MrRobinson thread. It should come with either SuperSU or SuperUser correct? You also should still be unlocked but you can re-unlock using EZ Unlock v.1.2 from the following thread and you're undeniably unlocked. You'll hear a brief audio message if it worked.
http://rootzwiki.com/topic/32456-app-920-ez-unlock-14-easiest-way-to-unlock-your-bootloader/
Also, please perform a nandroid back in CWM so you have something stable to return to if something goes awry in the future. That backup would have cut all this down to one simple step. You don't need to be unlocked to perform a nandroid however you do need to be rooted with a custom recovery.
Lastly, perform an IMEI backup using the "Comprehensive IMEI Backup" thread in the dev section. Do this and save the resulting Synergy zip from backup methods A and B in more than one place not on your phone. This is more so a precaution because flashing things in recovery can and may result in a complete loss of connection with Verizon.

Hello everyone i currently flashed my sph-d710 or sprint gaxy s2 to a kit kat rom. now first i tried flashing back to other roms, nothing lower then jb and i cant. so i was thinking of flashing a rom and tried backing up through rom manager and it brought me into recovery with an error. My a.d.d. having ass deleted the villumanti by accident b4 the error and i wiped/reset everything including cache during the error, and couldnt flash anything (i tried 3 roms). IN THE END I REBOOTED ALL WAS THERE.I think i have an idea of what happened. I think it could be due to a modem issue e.g. downgrading from kit kat to jb. Should i flash a custom kernel thru mobile odin and get the recovery from there(IM RUNNING THE LATEST CWM I BELIEVE)or should i boot into recovery wipe all data cache reboot recovery and flash the modem, reboot into recovery again proceed as normal. Also what modem should i use. If ive been to vague or you need any more info let me know. P.s.
