Hi,
i have revolutionary S-OFF
hboot 6.98.1002. and stock 1.47.401.4 rom
at the same time i do not have root access and my recovery mode shows me the red triangle with !
i want to be S-ON again. I have tried this method http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1187231&page=13 but it's not working for me.
could you please help me?
OK so you have reverted to a stock ROM, which has worked - but the Revolutionary S-OFF has a kind of protection to stop RUUs rewriting the bootloader etc
Recovery appears like that because the RUU has changed something meaning ClockworkRecovery isn't working anymore (not too sure of the specifics). You should still be able to get past the red triangle by pressing power + vol up (or + vol down, I forgot).
You can reinstall Clockwork again using the S-OFF utility if you need to.
You need to follow this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=16031365&postcount=4
The first part is vital as it removes the Revolutionary boot lock (or whatever its called).
it did not worked.
when i flash PG88IMG.zip it says "hboot bypassed" and i'm still S-OFF with hboot 6.98.1002
Just checking but it's not a suspect emmc is it?
Sent from my HTC Desire
I would flash the hboot with the 0.98 hboot then redo the ruu process which will then be also able to overwrite the hboot

I have CM7 installed and when I reboot into recovery, the HTC logo comes up for a second and then just fades away into blackness...and nothing else happens.
ROM Manager says ClockworkMod version 3.0.0.6 and it said flash successful when I flashed it.
Something I am doing wrong?

I used the Simple OneClick root method and encountered the same thing. Using the Fixes button in that program said it was a common occurrence and that flashing ENG S-OFF would solve it. I did and it did. YMMV

You don't need to flash eng s-off.
You could revert back to stock and run the hack kit, instead of doing eng s-off.

It is by far not the preferred method, and is one of the easiest ways to completely brick this phone(if you mess up). There is absolutely no reason to eng s-off the phone. You can just as easily revert the phone back to stock, then run the hack kit to do it properly.
ENG S-OFF makes me nervous, especially letting a tool automatically do it for me. No way to flash Clockwork via a different method or anything?
Also, I noticed in HBOOT I cant control anything with the volume buttons. Is this a know bug also?
you can completely return back to stock and run the Ace Hack Kit
Do I NEED Clockwork?
I have been using my phone for a while without it, and worst case scenario I can always use HBOOT to restore the stock rooted ROM.
So other than not being able to manually flash, whats the point?

If ENG S-off makes you nervous then reverse it, I had eng S-off and tried a few radio's but found that the AT&T radio worked just fine so I reversed it. If you did the one click s-off to do it you should have three files it put on your SD card, one would say original Hboot, if they are on it then you can reverse it if not then you have to do something else.
Let's say they are there, then you need to go here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=855403
Halfway down the first post in a grey box is the command that you need to input through terminal emulator on your phone, once you do it, it will say a number in and a number out, when it is done exit the emulator and you have reversed Eng S-off. It is very simple and quick to do but will only work if you have those files on your SD Card.
You can flash/backup/restore any rom using rom manager with no eng s-off. CWM is doing its work even with the black screen, Just let it do the job, it takes about 3 min for rom flashing and 5 min for backup/restore and then the phone reboots normally.
If you're eng s-off and want to take it back to s-off there is an easy way to do it and clean up the boot at same time. It is to flash this PD98IMG file using bootloader: http://www.google.com/url?q=http://...sntz=1&usg=AFQjCNFB5N69qN9TwX6vS7wvJQ7ZlSxiWw
I had this problem as well. the one click "fix" is what corrected it for me.
eng S-Off is NOT needed on this phone, but I did it anyway. I used the one click method as mentioned above... Clicked on fixes, click eng s-off, and all is well.
The program has a fail-safe built into it. It states MANY MANY MANY times during the root process that if a particular step fails, what to do, and where to start from again. It was great! ...Just saying...
Question: If you use this PD98IMG to take Eng S-Off and have backed up using Clockwork recovery mod, when you had the Eng S-Off when you restore, the clockwork file will the Eng S-Off come back or will it just be S- Off?

You can use the PD98IMG to turn off eng s-off, it will put you on a rooted stock rom. the PD98IMG flashes a new boot image, so you will have radio s-off hboot.
You can recover your rom after that.
Inspire 4G---crashed..pls help !!!!
Namaste,
I bought a new HTC Inspire 4G with android 2.3.3 gingerbread
then i root it using Ace Hack Kit aahk-13012012
the first time I ran hack kit, every thing went smoothly, but in the end, it was S-ON but it should have been S-OFF.
Then I try to run the kit again, but it wont go ahead and stops with the error saying "Radio Downgrade Failed: Either goldcard failed or usb connections not 100".
Next thing I try is that, I factory reset the phone, and try running the kit again....It runs smoothly till the point the screen is blank & it says "Radio downgrade complete - starting next process - please be patient..."...I wait for 1 hour, but nothing happens.
Then I Ctrl+C the Cmd and unplug the phone. The screen remains the same..
I removed the battery and try to start the phone.HTC logo appears and the fades away.
I reinsert the battery again and press volume down+power to see the following screen.

My phone is unbranded , unrooted & stock using ROM 1.47.401.4.
I have downloaded the latest ota 2.10.401.4 and in that zip there was a firmware zip in it.
i renamed the firmware zip to pg88img.zip and put it in my phone's sd root.
After the reboot of the phone has updated the firmware BUT thats all.
If i reboot the phone stucks on the HTC logo but also i can go to the bootloader options if on the reboot i hold down the volume button.
Is there any way to restore the phone?
I try to flash the stock rom but nothing.
Can anybody help please??
Resolution:
If anyone has the same problem and has hboot-2.00.0002 & S-ON you have to unlock the bootloader via htcdev.com site following all the steps and flash the EXT4 Recovery via FASTBOOT and NOT ADB.!!
Then go to recovery and flash any custom rom.

Which update did you download? There are a couple available - odexed & deodexed.
Maybe worth trying which ever one you didn't download the first time?
Also are you giving it plenty of time to load? First boot from a fresh install always takes a long time.
Don't worry, you don't have a brick

That would be a choice, but I would say you'll be better of to use xtc-clip to gain s-off, after this everything is possible or just give it back for warranty and let them repair it,
because it's still s-on, but just to know, what else where in the zip?
Could it be that you forgot something, have you tried a factory reset?

Is there any way to flash the OTA via fastboot since over adb i get the message device not found..???
Do you have a "recovery" option in the fastboot menu? If so try to go to this menu and see if adb recognises it then. But you have probably tried this already, right.
With adb, when you type 'adb devices', your phone is not shown, correct?
I'm not sure about getting S-off with the new hboot, I did mine with the old hboot.
You could try to download the deodexed rom on this page and flash that, but you need to get into recovery first.
Sorry, not much help I'm afraid.
Did you try to install these fastboot drivers?
Unfortunately i have tried everything so far but didn't work.
The xtc clip maybe is the only way.. Or if the s-off solution of revolution will support in future my hboot and do it that way.
I also noticed that when i tried to flash the stock rom i had 1.47.401.4 and was stuck on the HTC logo the update software said that i had rom 11.10.401.4.!!!!!
Since i flashed the original fota why the version said 11.10.401.4 and not 2.10.401.4??
WTF IS GOING ON.??
Well, I still don't think you have a brick - you can get into the bootloader, you just need your pc to recognise it via USB.
Have you tried flashing the previous hboot version you had? To enable revolutionary s-off?
Also have a look around the general Android forums, there are some very experienced peeps there who may be able to help.
Peace

You should ask this question on the XTC phone tools forum to raskal to be 100% sure that this new version is covered (see link on the XTC in my sig)
and as @tectas has said, there is still a possibility that you are still able to return under warranty and allow them to resolve it for you..
sorry unable to assist with confidence.
EDIT: see this thread that I created a while back that contains another link within it to lots of XTC owners around the world within it, but I'd confirm that the new HBOOT is covered before you run XTC http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1076937&highlight=xtc
I ask them. Thanks anyway.
The 3 things left.
1. to ask xtc forum if my hboot-2.00.0002 is supported.
2. to wait till revolution s-off supports in the future my hboot.
3. to wait till someone leakes the stock signed ruu 2.10.401.4
That's all unfortunately..
Hi everyone
I've got a strange problem with my Sensation
I recently made it S-OFF using the HTC method (couldn't get Revolutionary to work for some reason, though it was working before) and Root/Custom recovery etc
When I tried to upgrade the firmware to go to an ICS ROM, it read the PG58IMG.zip file, parsed it, rebooted and now says ***Unlocked*** (as before) but is now S-ON
For some reason (because I'm already rooted?), Revolutionary fails at Zerging Root and HTC's process transfers the files over but never gives me the unlock option
Any ideas how to get S-OFF back?
Thank you
Using the HTC method doesn't actually S-OFF - it just Unlocks the bootloader (but not all of it)
You need this guide:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1469296
Sent from my Pyramid-T
Very Strange that by using this method, my device remains S-OFF and UNLOCKED (!!)
And here is the guide:
A- Preparation:
- Download RUU.exe file from htcdev.com. Run it (without connecting your Desire S to the PC), proceed to Next, Next... but do not exit this app. Open folder %TMP%, search for rom.zip file, copy it to another location and rename to PG88IMG.ZIP. Now you can exit RUU app.
- GoldCardTool, download it here.
- An SD card (>1GB recommended)
B- Step-by-step:
- Insert SD card to the phone, format it.
- Connect phone to PC in Disk drive mode, don't forget to enable USB Debugging = ON.
- Run GoldCardTool.exe, press Get CID button to get CID.
- Go to http://psas.revskills.de/?q=goldcard and enter CID, press Download Goldcard to get goldcard.img file.
- Get back to GoldCardTool.exe, press Load Goldcard.img to load the file goldcard.img.
- Press Patch MMC, your SD card is now ready for goldcard.
- Copy PG88IMG.ZIP file to SD card.
- Shutdown phone and boot it into bootloader.
- Phone will start update process automatically. Don't touch it unless you see "Press Power to restart".
After this step, mine is S-OFF and UNLOCKED. So I can flash custom recovery and root easily.
Leaving you device S-OFF and unlocked after RUU has nothing to do with Goldcard.
It happaned probably because you have Alpharev hboot. RUU is bypassing flashing the hboot because Alpharev hboot has bigger version, but it flashes the rest of the RUU.
It happened to one of my friends also and we didn't use Goldcard.

This is not true, unless you have XTC-clip S-OFFed device.
My old Desire was S-ON when I bought it. I made it S-OFF using Alpharev's tool and every time I flashed any RUU (with Goldcard) it made it S-ON again.
My current Desire S is S-OFF with XTC-clip which means permanent S-OFF, now even after RUU I am still S-OFF, but with newer hboot.
When I flashed the RUU (without any Goldcard) on my friends Desire S, which has Alpharev hboot 7.0... all the images flashed successfully except BOOT which was "Bypassed", so the Alpharev's hboot was not overridden by RUU, and the rom booted successfully.
My guess it is because it has bigger version then the on in the RUU.

Hey guys, needing some help. Was rooting a friends phone and have been unable to boot up properly. Have been following http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1192300.
Currently have su and adb working properly, unable to factory reset or wipe to stock rom to run Revolutionary. Revolutionary does not work in recovery or hboot mode, is there any way around this?
The phone is UNLOCKED with S-ON
Not interested, unless absolutely necessary, in Juopunutbear S-OFF method, never done this and I would first do it on my own personal phone.
Thanks all for any help
What is the h boot version? Revolutionary only works with certain h boot versions. This is why others have to use the wire trick to S off. Because it's the only other way if revolutionary is not supportive of your h boot version. To find the H boot version, pull battery put back in, press volume down and power at the same time then read at the top will be the h boot version. Then post and you can find out if it's supported by revolutionary or not. Hope this helps.

Hi,
It may be that you have the wrong software version to use revolutionary.
If you can enter this in fastboot:
Code:
fastboot getvar all
(not imei or serial number)
Post back here.
The order of things is as you say,but you may need to flash a new firmware, depending on which ROM you want to install.
