[Q] [Endymion V2.1|Sense 3.5|GB 2.3.5][Endymion kernel V1.1|OC|FFC] .nomedia bug - HTC Desire S

Hi,
I'd like to ask whether you are aware of .nomedia file bug in the ROM [Endymion V2.1|Sense 3.5|GB 2.3.5][Endymion kernel V1.1|OC|FFC] and if there is some way how to fix it.
I'm talking about the bug, that cause media files to be deleted without any warning, if you include .nomedia into directory after the mediascanner already "knows" about media files in there. Files are deleted during the next media scanning after insertion of .nomedia. I'm sure you know what bug am I talking about.
Sorry for posting it here, but I do not have enough posts to post it directly in dev section ...

Good work, you at least posted in the correct section.
PM Lowveld though, just to bring it to his attention.

Are you sure the .nomedia causes deletion of the files... or is it that they're just hidden from gallery?
Have you gone back with a file explorer and confirmed? I mean .nomedia files are just meant to hide files from showing up in gallery....but you seem to know what youre saying so i guess it could be a bug.
I'm only asking because i havent tried... if this does indeed happen, its a problem, could you confirm with a file explorer check and let us know?

I'm sure. I have checked the folders in a file explorer. The folders were there, subtitles were there, but the video files were missing (I have them on PC, no big deal).
It happened twice. I did not care for the first time, but I did some research on internet second time and found this - code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=3692.
As you can see the bug is known already for 2 years, and not fixed yet...

Hi, does someone else notice this bug?

Put an empty file named ".nomedia" in any directory that has video files.

[Q] SuperRam FroYo for HD2, question about it. New here.

So I looked at the SuperRam Thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=870518) and downloaded the files from the link that is posted on that thread:
http://www.multiupload.com/01Q9CDT76Y
And the instructions say to "copy the files Android and Media to the root of your sd card....." However, there were no such files in the download. No file named Android and no file named Media.....is there a newer thread that I just haven't found yet? What should I do?
Thank you.
What was in the file when it was done downloading?
Should be a zip I believe. Create a folder and extract your download to the new folder. Your android folder and media file should appear. Pm me if you need more help.

Help needed
i first off want to thank the creators of this build its GREAT!!! I do have a couple of problems with this build that are not common to any other person. I have been experiencing sleep screen that does not wake from its slumber. To correct this i have to log into facebook and press the "home" key to prevent it from its blackout. If this occurs i have to pull the battery and reboot. Im currently on
radio:2.10.50.26
Kernal:2.6.32.15
Darkstone SuperRAM Froyo V1.5
I have read the fourm on this build over and over. I cant stress the fact that there are a lot of people out there without common sense. Since im new to the site i cannot post to the build but if anyone that has experiance with this rom i would appreciate the assistance.

[Q] Has this happened to anyone else?

i switched roms acouple times today and this has happened one other time.
All my video files not the folders or subtitles or anything just the video files themselves have been deleted.
Using brilliant corners and bottle o smoke and bam they are gone...
all you have to do is make a no media file. basically make a new text doc on your computer and just save it as ".nomedia" You do not have to write anything in the file. This will tell the tablet not to delete any files out of this folder. put this file in every folder that has media items. I hope this helps.
Hmmm...I've never had that happen to me, but thanks for the tip fosser2
It's a known issue and easily fixed with the .nomedia file. Beware though that windows won't let you create such a file. I think most android file managers will allow you to create a file and rename it ".nomedia".

You can easily make this file form windows. Right-click on any explorer window and choose New>Text file. Then just rename it to .nomedia instead of NewTextDocument.txt or whatever the default is.
Scratch that. Windows says "type a file name" or something. Just use notepad++ as someone else mentioned...

[Completed] [Q] Cut/Paste issues. (moving folders to Desktop)

Hello, I didn't know where to post this so I thought here would be best, so I can be pointed to the right place.
in one of my camera folders, I've had around 12,000 pictures "had 30,000 before deleting".. I decided it's time to move it to my PC and sort them out.. I have tried to copy them before when they were 30,000 but I've never been able to do that (it just doesn't work)
when I tried to copy them this time through connecting my Note 3 Rooted, I accidentally "cut" the folder and pasted it my desktop in PC..
the folder I have copied was Empty..
when I checked back on my android there was no trace of the folder.. and my Gallery no more shows the folder.
I tried to undo the process but it also failed.
I don't know where are the files exactly?
I've used DiskDigger to recover the files.. but I couldn't see them anywhere.
I've used ES file Explorer to unhidden the files (if they were hidden) but to no avail.
I hope someone, anyone, would know what I can do to recover the pictures or at least know what exactly happened
thank you!
anyone? where should I post this at least...
is this an issue that is not known?
Hi
Thanks for writing to us at XDA Assist. Have you written to the storage at all since these files went missing?

nope I haven't, I immediately did a recovery attempt..
the files are just not there... not a single one lol
so they must be "not deleted" somehow, somewhere.. they're there..

The only thing you can do is continue to try different data recovery methods and hope that one of them works. Sorry, that's about all the advice I can give you.

File deleted but phone recreates

Hi, I am having a issue of which some files are being created even after I delete them. For example I have a file called "Fabolous ft. Jeremih - Its My Time.mp3". Which is fine, then I have a file called "Fabolous ft. Jeremih - ItGs My Time.mp3". I have deleted this file with the weird name many times and it always recreates after a few seconds. There are also a few more files doing the something. Does anyone know is causing this? Please help

Is it only happening for media files? If so, it may just be your media player creating a thumbnail cache, try disabling all mediaplayers and deleting.

Yea seems to be media files. When I delete through TWRP recovery, the files don't duplicate upon deleting. Weird
Is this on a SD card or internal? Not sure if this is your issue, but I've heard of SD cards failing or wearing out and becoming read only. End of life on write cycles. Maybe TWRP rewrites over the deleted file which causes permanent deletion. Not quite sure on that.
Also, try to copy your important files off the card and re-format. Then paste your files back. Worth a shot.
Let us know what you find out. I'm curious about this.
