Good battery life and now can't get a day. - Samsung Galaxy S (4G Model)

I had Pretty good battery life, about a day and a half with pretty moderate to heavy use. Now I can't make it past a full day. How can I find the app or the thing that is draining my battery?

Which rom are you using?
Which apps do you have installed?
Have you tried recalibrating your battery?
Have you tried using the betterbatterystats app?

You can try OS monitor application. It will show if you have some run away apps on background.
Regarding calibration process and batterystats.bin look here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=19153600&postcount=15

yea have done all that, i am octane, about 60 plus apps, i have had good battery life before so it is nothing with calibration or any thing. i was just looking for a better way then uninstalling my apps 1 by 1 to see the app daring my battery.

anyone else have this problem?

Try using BetterBatteryStats and check for wakelocks.

Weird cell stanby issue

Hi,
can somebody give me advice? I have quite big stanby drain. As you can see cell stanby and phone idle are high (around 12%). I lost about 10% of battery at night for 6 hours with wifi and data off..I am using latest radio and latest insertcoin rom. Thanks in advance.

Check the running apps in task manager at night before you go to sleep. There may be a game or an app which takes a large amount of RAM and battery power.
Losing 10% overnight is about what I have always seen with my phone..

I killed all tasks just to be safe..didnt help. I got about 180mA when idling which looks bit much. On my old Desire it was 3-5mA when sitting overnight..
There are plenty of threads on battery issues and how to minimize battery loss ... but otherwise one just have to live with the fact that batteries have not improved that much over the years as we would have liked to see.

[Q] Is my homescreen effecting my battery life?

Quick question.
Im running ICBINB KI3 1.3 UV and am not getting the best battery life with moderate usage. Battery last me a day tops.
Which of course is still miles ahead of stock.
My question is, is my homescreen too heavy? As far as too many apps and widgets?
Any help or advice is appreciated. thanks for looking.

i calibrate after every rom flash. ive never gotten close to the advertised battery life except with ICBINB KI3 1.5
update to the latest, and back to where i was.
im undervolted at 1.3, i use JD with custom settings, and keep my screens brightness at 10 consistently..
Could the way you flash a rom affect its battery life?
you can put your screen brightness to the lowest or to automatic. also, if you have a black or very dark wallpaper, it will affect the battery less. pure black with have very little battery consumption.

Found "Smart Touch call" in my battery usage list.

As i frequently check my overnight, while sleeping, battery consumption, I found this app, that used 0.7% overnight.
Cannot find it anywere.
What the hell is it?

Not in mine as I've probably disabled it along with all the Samsung bloat.
I never had it before. It was back this morning. with 0.4% getting more and more curious.
Im found it in "settings/apps/Samsung app settings" it was switched off. Strange. Version 1,00,0,2 so what? And terms of service, where they talk about Samsung SDS launcher.
I use Nova, but still.

How to check with specific app causing wakelock in Android System?

I've just got a new phone for weeks but found that the battery life is not as good as my wife's one (same phone model).
After installing GSam, it seems to me that Android System is the main contributor of the battery drain. Using below as an example, there is over one thousand times of wakelock for GnssLocationProvider, 656 for *location* and 683 for *alarm*.
Any idea what can I do to further check what app(s) is actually causing these wakelocks? Many thanks for any help which could be offered.

Detecting wakelocks is pretty easy once you have a rooted phone. Fully charge your battery to 100% and install an app, called Wakelock Detector on the device.

My phone is non-root one, but I've installed Wakelock Detector and with proper right granted.
But in WD, it still just showed the same like the screenshot I've shared in first post, i.e. those have been grouped under Android System...

Capacity (reported by system) doesn't match the Charge Counter.

I'm using Devcheck to see my battery health. I've recently flashed the newest miui rom which is 13.0.5.
I did calibrate my battery after seeing that but still the maximum battery charge doesn't come close to 5160 mAh but only 4647 mAh. I know that battery degrade over time even unused but I just want to know for sure. I have this device for almost 2 years and rarely use it for gaming.

That's pretty good actually. Here's what AccuBattery says about my 2 year old phone.
