I am all of a sudden getting 'No Connection' on some things. Went into Market, and got 'No Connection' I am on WiFi.
Rebooted, and connecting now.
Then I set up a new label in Gmail. Set it up to sync past 4 days. I have some messages in that label. When I try to switch to that label, it was saying 'No Connection'.
So, I moved off of Wireless to 3G. I got same thing, so I hit Retry about 10 times, and it finally said Loading Conversations. But then it came back with 'No Conversations'.
Any thoughts?

Don't worry. Pretty standard for the new market. Also, switching between network and WiFi has these issues. Try turning "Data" off wait a few secs and turn it back on when Wifi is connected. The data connection needs a shot in its pants once in a while !!
Check your system date & time. If they are incorrect, market and gmail won't synch.

AAAAAGGGGGHHHHHH!
Had my Exec for one week. Everything was working fine. Then suddenly froze completely. Had to do a hard reset.
Set it all back up and now it just keeps connecting to GPRS, 3G.
This morning it said I had no emails, which was a bit weird. So I went in via hotmail and discovered I had 6! All messages came up, but the attachments etc wouldn't download.
Now it says I have no emails again and just keeps connecting. Any ideas anyone please - before I throw it up the wall.
me again
Now I've got 6 unread messages (I've erad them all) and it KEEPS CONNECTING!!!!!
Every so often I noticed the red/blue arrows on the top of the notifications bar stating Device management "Connecting to DM server...." . After a few minutes it pops up a screen with Communication Error.
Also, when I try to do a software update through settings it says "No firmware" without even connecting or checking.
My phone is rooted and was reverted back to 2.1 using Odin after I upgraded to the unofficial 2.2. I haven't been able to do any software updates since. The Firmware version is 2.1-update1. I'm not sure if this is the official latest one or not.
You're up to date. Relax, if a push comes, you'll know about it here first.
I'm just wondering why this randomly happens. Its annoying when my phone starts to lag (even w/ the lag fix) and it drops everything I'm doing to show a screen saying "connection failed."
Additionally, i'm on a 200mb data plan and it uses a significant amount of data on 3G.
My phone kept habitually checking the DM server all the time after the last official update. I finally went into Manage Applications and cleared the cache on Device Management.

I didn't find the DM server in Manage Applications but I did find it in the Running Services and disabled it from there. Since then it hasn't popped up so I think this fixed it. Thanks!

You have to set the filter to "All" instead of the default "Third Party" for it to show up. Forgot about that.
My sync icon will not turn off, no matter what I do. I don't get it. The only thing I did differently was get a google voice number on my phone. Ever since, I've been having troubles getting on 3G, I can't send text messages via google voice, it gets stuck on "sending." I have to reboot my phone to fix it. After a few reboots, now my sync icon wont go away. Any ideas?
After about 10-15min the icon finally went away..weird. On a side note, anyone have issues with sending text messages via google voice?
Nevermind! It's back!
Im afraid you have chronic sync syndrome.
Just go into the settings and disable it and reboot.
I have a stock Galaxy S5 from Sprint and recently came across this issue where SMS will not send unless I'm connected to WiFi or have data on. I've never run into this issue before and searching online has only brought me to people having issues specifically with data ON. I have a data limit on my plan so it's usually off unless I need to check emails or something important when I'm not home but texting has never been an issue for me until two days ago. They just sit in limbo of trying to send for at least 20min before I get an error "Message Not Sent" and it's infuriating.
I've tried some of the fixes others have suggested when their issue was with data being on but nothing worked. I resorted to a factory reset and I still have this problem. It will work after a restart but only for a short time. It hasn't been dropped, it hasn't been worked on in the past, opened up, rooted, or any other sort of thing that might have contributed to this issue. I thought it had something to do with this roaming message I used to get about "data being off due to leaving the home network" but I've never messed with my roaming settings and this message would happen before I've come into this SMS issue.
TL;DR
Data/WiFi off = no SMS
So, this is bit of a new issue, one I've not had before. I wish Hangouts/Messenger still had the Service Center ID in the settings in order to fix this, but, in the long/short run...
I unboxed my pixel and put my SIM in, started the phone. LTE/UMTS work perfect, locked right on, good signal/speeds, can place/receive calls, all is right in the world? I noticed after an hour I hadn't received any texts, and after feeling very unimportant, I sent a SMS to a friend, and got an immediate error. Out of curiosity, I went into the INFO settings (*#*#3646#*#*) and went into the SMSC settings. pressed refresh, which, populated an error. I manually typed mine, hit update, went back to hangouts, and voila!
The next day, I restarted the phone ( I like to do this often. I am also this user who actually turns their phone off from time to time ) and noticed upon restart, the problem resurfaced, like as if I never updated it to begin with.
Is this occurring with anyone else? I've yet to see a phone completely dump it. I'd prefer not to download another SMS application really, but, it's just inconvenient those few times I do restart it that I lose that SMSC number...
I'm having the problem as well but still haven't been able to fix it with the same procedure you did. It's driving me nuts.
UPDATE EDIT: I just realized the Wifi is interfering with it. As soon as I turned off the wifi, the txt would go out.
I'm having this same issue. I've contacted support about it, but haven't gotten a response yet (they said I would have an update yesterday).
If I manually put the SMSC in, and then Update, I can send texts briefly, but eventually I start getting an error 38 instead. A reboot and then manually entering the SMSC again allows me to send texts again.

I'm curious if setting your mobile data to always-on would be a functional workaround to help until they can get this fixed for real. Have you tried that?
