[Q][SOLVED] How do I revert back to default theme? - Nexus S Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I flashed a Xeno theme and find that I'm not liking it too much.
I want to revert back to the default theme with the default icons and such but I'm unsure how.
I'm currently using the Nexus MV 11.01 rom.
I don't want to reflash the rom and risk losing my settings.
Could I just create a zip file with specific files from the rom and flash?
If so, what do I need?
Or is it safe to reflash the same rom without losing my settings?
Edit - Looks like I answered my own question.
Reflashing the same rom reverted my changes and no data was lost.

[REQUEST] [MORPH] Removing a Morph?

Is there a way to remove a morph applied in MetaMorph?
Depends on what you themed?
Status Bar...
And you want it back to the default?
If you are using a custom ROM, you can just reflash it, and it will get rid of it.
Won't that also get rid of everything else on the phone?
While some update.zips do perform wipes, the vast majority do not. Do a nandroid backup, reflash your ROM, and enjoy the stock status bar.
Anyway it would be great if people offer an "unmorph" with the original files more often. Not possible every time I know..
It's very much work when you will do this.
You must do this for any rom you will theme.
And if there is an update, you must do it again.
The best way is to go to recovery and reflash the rom.
You don't lose anything of your data by doing that.
Thats easiest way.
Not for the morphs for the roms. But when you morph an app and just change some colors or icons it would be great to include the original pngs too.
Nand restore only because of a few icons is not so great

Not really, just push framework-res.apk and services.jar from the ROM you have and adb reboot
Thanks guys... the reflash worked perfectly. That'll teach me to nandroid before morphing!
if MM adds the option to backup the apks before morphing, Then there will be a chance to undo
i believe the right thing to do is re-flash your current ROM, like said. it only copies the files that have been changed i believe, which obviously changes them back to stock. at least that's what i've read. but you wont lose your data either way.
i worry about creating and restoring lots of nand backups, and flashing lots of ROMs, cause i worry about killing internal flash memory over time. that cant be good to continually re-write over and over in such a large quantity!

[Q] Currently on MIUI MCGv1 - Want to go to MCGv2

Im a nub. Im currently on MIUI MCGv1 with all my apps and theme modifications. I want to update to MCGv2 without loosing all my settings/theme/apps/data modifications. How would i do so? I have mybackupPRO for backing up apps/data/contacts, but what about Theme and setting setting's.
Other than that, if im currently on MCGv1 with speedmod. To get to MCGv2 i would just flash the zip via CWM and no change to the kernel right?
Thanks guys.

Here my step when I'll do MIUI update:
1) Wipe Cache
2) Wipe dalvik Cache
3) Format system
and in the end flash the firmware in CWM.
Or do this very easly step, flash the zip that you can find in this post before the firmware update.

Thanks to lippol94
I do this last option in my my last update to MIUI MCGv1, the zip clear every reference to the last kernel and do every step for you. Afet all you preserve everything of your previous firmware, contats, apps, theme settings.
I hope to have you helped
This is my very first post, thought I'll give back to the xda community for helping me get my Galaxy S to where it is now.
I used an app called Ti Backup (Titanium Backup). After reflash to different versions of Miui (or even other roms), I load the backup via the app itself, and it restored all my apps as well as the settings for each app.
I'm currently on Miui MCG v3, not sure if the built-in backup function restores settings for apps.
hope this helps.

[Q] flashable zip for homescreens?

I know I saw in a thread a while back there was a way to create a flashable zip of your homescreens so that after you flash a new ROM you could then just flash the zip to reset your homescreens and entire set up back to how you had it.
Anyone have any idea where that is or how to go about it?
Any help is really appreciated!!
Haven't heard of that, but if you use nova launcher you have the option to import your configuration and backup afterwards. The backup option in nova works exceptionally well
I dont know if this what you meant or not but if you're using using Rom toolbox pro, you can back up your phone data, including wallpaper and widgets, and then restore you phones data after you flash a new rom. I don't know if this will make it 100% the way it was before or not though.

[Q] white settings menu

Hi guys, been using this great phone.for.2 months already. Used a couple of roms in the past but returned to rooted, locked bootloader stock rom with the latest update. I just had a question is it possible to make the settings menu white witout being deodexed? Or at least without modification of system files. Please.note I do not have any sort of recovery installed. Just rooted so I can use greenify and Uninstal bloatware. I really like the white menu, been searching and only foind it in custom.roms. anyway I can do that on stock? thanks in advance. I've decided to.use.stock as I could.find lots.of.bugs.on the.custom roms. Aand.I really like the stock ui. ANY advice?
Hey mate, sorry to inform you but I think you have to deodex. However I think there is another way, I understand you prefer clean stock rom, I can't unlock my bootloader and it is indeed the fastest rom do the following, search on the themes and apps for Honami white settings and you will find a port that even has cpu control.
Go to your apps folder (use root Explorer); delete your settings and settings.odex, and now copy the files you downloaded from the port and copy them with correct permissions. Then reboot and I think you are all done. Also search for an app or way do delete your cache, including dalvik so you avoid errors. I'm thinking about doing this myself so try it and tell me if something went wrong so I can help

Can't edit build.prop

I've lost the ability to change DPI all of a sudden. I had no problems at all,but I installed a cm based rom, changed DPI on that fine, but afterwards I moved to a stock based rom and I haven't been able to change since.
Texdroider says it will be changed but doesn't apply after boot, and when I try to edit the build.prop, it says it can't save.
Tried to edit permissions but not won't allow me.
Restored to a flashable stock rom, still the same.
Restored to a UK ftf file, still the same.
Seriously run out of ideas, so I come to you for help...

Try to isolate the problem :
- recovery running ok?
- root (SuperSU) ok?
- can mount /system RW in recovery?
- can mount /system RW in shell (adb or terminal) when booted?

Try using this app to edit build.prop: Root Explorer.

Of course it does, if you don't flash already pre-rooted one in recovery.

that was my point. The OP flashed a stock rom then wondered why he couldn't edit the build.prop file. He needs root to edit that file.
