[Q] Battery Issue after Latest Update - Eee Pad Transformer Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

OK... i know that the issue of the dock battery remaining at zero has been discussed before, but i am bringing it up again due to the fact that this was only caused by the latest update a couple days ago. Basically my dock battery will remain at zero and bounce up to 100 and then drop down to zero (all this according to the dual battery widget). The dock light remains a flashing orange as long as it is charging no matter what the widget says. When unplugged, the widget still states that it is charging, and the light switches to the fast orange flash. I'll post a screenshot below of the battery graph so ya'll can see what the battery looks like. Hard reboots (vol down+power) do nothing to fix the issue. Hopefully I dont need an RMA, but chances are this is warranty covered, right? Any ideas on fixes? I am NOT rooted.
EDIT: so now the widget shows that the dock is still at 0 and charging, though the docks light is green. When unplugged, the light is back to a quick orange flash. Dock widget software issue or dock battery hardware issue?

[Q] Keyboard not charging or not retain charge somehow!

Basically I just got my TF combo for few days, and I gotta say I'm impressed with it so far. However, I encounter 1 weird bug like this:
Ok, before I go to bed, I put the TF on the kb dock and plug the combo to the wall-charger (just like I charge my other devices). I can see the battery icon on the TF changed to a thunder icon suggesting it's charging. However, I've waited and see no fully charged icon at all. Then I let it charge overnight. The next morning I wake up (I've tried this for few days), I see the thunder icon disappeared (wall-charger still plugged in btw), and the kb dock has not been charged (or has been discharged completely somehow). I can say this because the internal TF battery is now discharged under normal usage and shows no sign of kb battery or the kb is charging the tablet.
So far, due to this bug, I couldn't experience the "16 hours" claim.
If you guys have any suggestions, please advise.
Thanks.

It came with 8.2.3.9 and no, I did not install any OTA update (I wish I could though)
its out. just check for updates, it will pop a notification. fixes most dock issues.
as far as I can tell, the 8.2.3.13 is only available to US and Taiwan customers only. Mine is UK version, so no update is available yet
With the dock plugged into power, what does the LED light next to the jack on the side of the dock do? Blinking red? Solid red? Solid green?
And the icon would be a lightning bolt, as lightning is actually electricity. Thunder is just noise from the superheated air caused by lightning.

Thanks for clarifying ^^ English is not my native language so excuse me for that
btw, when charging with the TF docked, the light next to it is solid orange (it's not so red ). When I'm using the combo, the light is blinking orange (slowly). I've never seen the light turns green ever!
Last night I reset the TF and unplug/replug the wall charger. I noticed this morning when I wake up, the TF still shows the lightening icon (it doesn't the other morning), but when I unplug the combo, the lightening icon disappeared immediately and showed no sign that the kb is still providing power to the TF (which I've heard it suppose to do).
I start to think I have a defective kb here...or may be just the FW problem...will have to wait till I get the newest FW update to find out But no sign of new FW for UK/WW SKU
Mine has been fine (got the combo last Friday) - charge took about 7 hours and light went green) discharging it over the weekend and not on the second recharge) - I'm in the UK with the fact installed FW - no issues here so is yours faulty? I'd get onto Asus myself?
when the dock is fully charged, the LED should go green...
hopefully the release with battery indicator of both the tablet and keyboard can be out soon...it does seem like a mystery to figure out which part is providing the power..(yes..we all know how it should work but this may not always be the case)
Quote from another thread
Solid Green light = Battery above 95% charge.
Solid Orange (they call it orange) = 10-95% charge.
Orange blinking = Battery less than 3-10% charge.
Orange fast blinking = Battery less than 3% charge.

Just in case... are you plugging it in the tablet or the keyboard? I don't think plugging in the tablet would charge the keyboard would it?
EDIT: ignore this post. I just realized my mistake ;-) I need coffee this morning!!!
Red?

- It is not stated here. Does "Solid Red" mean "charging"? Thanks in advance.
How to completely discharge TF & dock?
How do you completely discharge TF & dock unit for a complete re-charge to eliminate any battery memory problem? Just use the units until it completely out of juice and shut down on its own I guess?
Thanks in advance.

there's no red..so Solid Red is just Solid Orange..and it's 10-95% charge..so presumably it's still charging..
I've been charging the dock only for 6-7 hours straight now, and it still shows solid orange light. I think I'm gonna leave it plugged in overnight to see what happens the next day.
How long does it take for your docks to turn green?
btw, is there anyway I can reset the dock somehow?

I wonder this as well ^^
OK, after plugged the kb in for at least 7 hours straight, I took it out and docked the TF. guess what? It's blinking orange, and not charging the TF at all!!!!
I just couldn't wait for the official .13 FW from ASUS so went ahead and updated by using Prime ROM. It comes with 0209 FW fro the KB as well, so hopefully it'll be fixed. I'll try and see in the next morning. But it seems like I'm having a defective kb here >_<
Damn!
How do you know what charge you have in your kb. For example my tf which is docked at the moment is showing 99% charge but that is presumably the tf only not the kb as well. So how do I know when the kb needs recharging ?
Also does the charge indicator light on the kb only show up when it is plugged into mains ?
I am using latest firmware in UK

At the moment the tablet only shows it's own charge, even when docked. And yes, until they add the battery meter for the dock in a future firmware, I think the only way to see the docks charge at the moment is by plugging it in and looking at that led.
It's definitely not holding any charge after fw update, and of course not charging the tablet Just called Asus, provided no help at all, said I should contact retailer for help Damn!

[Q] grey battery icon on boot

Device:
VZW Blue SGS3 32GB, original battery
The issue:
This only happens when the device turns itself off due to low battery. When I try to turn on the phone it shows am empty battery icon (i.e., no green or red) with a huge grey recycle type symbol in the center of the battery (a circular grey version of the green recycle symbol, with two half circles instead of three corners of a triangle). This image flashes on screen for maybe 3 seconds and then immediately powers off.
At this point the phone doesn't respond to normal reboot measures (hold power button, hold power + volume, etc). The only way to get the phone to respond is to re-seat the battery. Then, when you plug the power cord in, it will vibrate once then show the battery icon again and turn off.
At some random point in time the phone "revives" itself. Here's where the fun begins. When it "revives" itself (can be anywhere from 10 mins to 10 hours later) the battery looks like it was charging the entire time (i.e., after 2 hours it has a 40% charge)! One time when it revived it was fully charged!
Background:
This happens on the stock ROM as well as Slim Bean (2.6 & 2.7). That's half the reason I went with Slim Bean...exceptional battery life. And, it has worked, as it's only happened twice since switching to Slim Bean. It was happening once a week with the stock ROM because the battery would frequently go below 15% without my knowledge. Now, sure, I can control this by making sure the battery never gets down to 15%. However, a $600 device shouldn't lock up just because the battery gets low!
I did call VZW about this and they were pretty much clueless. They didn't seem to be familiar with that symbol. Their only suggestion was a new battery. I will take them up on the offer, just to get a free battery, but I really don't think it's the battery. If it was the battery then you would imagine this should happen randomly and not just when the battery was low. To me it sounds like the battery charge/protection circuit flaking out. Here's the real thing to consider to discount the battery: the grey icon remains even when the battery itself is at 100%.
Has anyone else seen this problem? I'm at a loss because I can't even google for it...the search terms are too common. So if anyone knows a specific name for this problem, do share!

Lol, same exact thing that is happening to my phone. Ive learned to deal with it because my phone has physical damage was tl buy a stronger charger or keep the one I already had and not let the phone die. The things you described is 100% my phone lol.

[Q] Battery charge indicators show different values when phone is off or on

Hi. I searched for an answer to this weird problem but couldn't seem to find a similar issue. So here it goes.
When my phone is off and I plug it to recharge the battery, after a due amount of time (or even the whole night) the indicator shows a full green battery and states 100%: fine. But ... as soon as I turn the phone on, the percentage indicator in the top right every time shows a figure between 82-84%. So I need to plug the charger back on again (this time while the phone is on) and after a while I get the 100% on the indicator.
This has happened since I bought the device and with both my (new) batteries. Pointless to say, I did try to reset the battery stats a number of times to correct the issue. No joy.
Am I the only one experiencing this? Any clue on how to fix this discrepancy? Granted it's not a big deal, but still a little annoying.
Thanks
Mike

What might be happening is that your device uses a lot of power in order to boot up. 16% of battery life seems a bit strange though.
The other thing that might occur is that the threshold for the green light to be lit is at about 84-86% (meaning: if the battery is more than 84% or something charged, show the green light).
What I suggest doing is just leave your phone on all the time and perhaps reboot it only when necessary.
As far as I know, there aren't really any solutions, but maybe you should try contacting support from the manufacturer of your device. Perhaps they know more about the subject.
Thanks exenia121,
It's definitely a weird thing. And i was more curious to know if I was the only one to report this. There must be probably a strange surge on boot up. In fact after the recharge of the phone (while being on) was completed (100%) I turned it off. But when I powered it after a couple of hours I was back at 84%. Hmmm ....

Issues with the dock battery.

After updating to KatshMallow #26 I noticed my dock battery was never charging above 92%. I plugged the dock in alone overnight and the next morning it only shwed 87%. So I connect the tablet and ran it down until it shut off. Prior to shutting down the dock battery indicator never changed from 92%. I also didn't see any indication that the tablet was drawing from the dock battery. I plugged in the dock with the tablet attached and once I saw the green light on the tablet I powered it up. Dock battery = 87%, Tablet battery 100%. I left it plugged in with the tablet attached overnight and nothing changed. Same indications the next morning. Dock never moves from 87% no matter what I do. I installed Dual Battery widget and it only shows one battery. ???
Not sure what happened, and I don't think the update has anything to do with the issue. The dock battery has probably been going south for a while but I didn't notice it until I updated to #26. I have searched numerous threads looking for comparable issues but nothing matches. Even so I tried some of the different apps suggested with no luck. It is puzzling that Dual Battery Widget only shows 1 battery when the Asus indicators show 2.
I have found a replacement battery for $29.00 but before I spend the loot and risk trashing my dock I would like to be certain that it truly is a bad battery and not some flukey software issue that I can fix. Also, all other features on the dock work fine.
Any suggestions?
UPDATE: After leaving the tablet and dock combo unplugged for most of the morning, the orange power light on the dock began to flash. Once I plugged it in, it immediately went solid orange. My understanding is that the light flashes when the battery level gets below 10%. So is it working properly except the screen indicator is lying to me?

Pixel 3 stuck at 92%

Hi guys I have a pixel 3 and it's stuck at 92% charge on the battery icon no matter whether I unplug it I have a plugin
Now the device seems to charge properly it just doesn't update the charging icon or show the correct status in the icon I tried to re calibrate the battery using accu battery I've also tried factory resetting my device with numerous different wrong and also stock and non stock tried different dates of stock roms so that I could go back to an older as it could have been an update so I was just making sure that it wasn't causing this issue
Any advise would be greatly appreciated as it's really quite annoying to have a phone that works well but the charging icon doesn't do the correct charge so I don't know whether I'm half battery or full battery
I had the stuck battery level indicator issue on my Pixel 3. Symptoms I had noted were the stuck battery level at 34%, random shutoffs, wildly fluctuating low amperage charging values. Tried many of the fixes on the internet without much luck. Finally tried a variation of one that has worked so far. The fix for me was running the battery out and powering on till no screen activity method. The twist I added to this method is that I then got a clamp and clamped the power button into the on position and left it clamped for 24 hours. I then removed the clamp, plugged the charger in and then turned it on. To my delight, the battery level had dropped to 0% and the charging current was 1.5 amps. I am writing this just after the fix and charge level is now 60%, so hopefully it will continue working as it should. I think the fix is that the battery must be thoroughly and fully discharged, but that is just me speculating. Anyway, thanks for all the info you share and hopefully this will help someone with the same problem.
