Broken Digitizer =/. Trustworthy repair company? - HTC Sensation

I dropped my sensation face down today and it cracked the digitizer. The screen under it is fine. I called HTC and they want $160 for it. I'd do the repair myself but I had a very bad experience trying to repair my last phone and I'd rather pay someone to make sure it's done right. Does anyone know of a reliable and more affordable company that will fix this? Or another way to get it done?

They are expensive (cheaper than HTC), but reliable...pretty good reviews on eBay.

[Q] Best place to buy Digitizer/LCD assembly for Verizon S3?

Hello All.
I'm trying to help out my friend. he has a peble Blue Verizon S3, and dropped it/ broke the screen. The LCD doesn't even light
He only has had the S3 for 3 weeks, bought new thru Verizon(no insurance unfortunately..ouch).
What is the best option? He was told to call samsung and they may send him a new one, but that is a long shot it think? I have searched online and found many places with the part @~$220-260. Anyone know of a cheaper price, or a good repair shop thats reasonable? We can do the work ourselves if need be.
Thanks in advance

I'm also looking for such replacement. Those digitizers are really expensive!!! Are there any alternative sources? Here's what I found:
1. Depending on how savvy you are, you could save a couple bucks by replacing only digitizer. Easier is to replace the whole front frame, and not much more expensive either: http://www.ebay.com/itm/LCD-Screen-...e_Replacement_Parts_Tools&hash=item5d4219bf6b
2. You can get digitizder only from China: http://www.ebay.com/itm/LCD-Display...e_Replacement_Parts_Tools&hash=item2330c458a5 or an OEM one: http://www.ebay.com/itm/OEM-Samsung...e_Replacement_Parts_Tools&hash=item5654dc87c0 . I suspect both are the same part, except getting it from USA seller is more expensive. Replacing is not OVERLY hard, but takes some effort. This video shows how: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L4Lh8T7vK18
3. If you go down the rabbit hole of cheapness, I'd say you might order it from aliexpress. You can get it for ~90 bucks, like this one: http://www.aliexpress.com/item/Free...xy-S3-i9300-Tools-black-white/1218254599.html . I can't vouch for quality, supposedly it's an oem part, but what do I know. You can also buy a digitizer+frame part.
Also, I think Samsung now repairs for much cheaper that they used to. I think verizon phone repair is under $140 with free shipping and such. Might be a better option for you.
Another option is to buy a phone on craigslist, and sell your broken one. You can probably recover about 100 bucks, so if you get a good deal with craigslist one, it might be an even cheaper option (although riskier). Just make sure you are not getting blacklisted phone.
If someone who knows other places to buy even cheaper screens, I would appreciate if you share

[Q] Repair cost?

I do not yet know everything that will need replacing on my s3 or if it is worth repairing due to the damage. I have not yet taken the phone apart.
I can say for sure that I will need to replace the
Touchscreen
LCD
Battery cover
Case/Housing
From what I have seen of the damage I do not think the phone is worth trying to fix.
Do you have insurance or Not? If you have insurance its worth doing a claim otherwise, I would say its worth fixing.
Unfortunately no i don't have insurance on the phone, as I do not like sam's club policy.
I will add pictures when I find a working camera.

[Q] Repair or replace?

My N5 has a cracked screen (just the outer glass -- not the screen itself) and at my age I no longer have the eyesight, dexterity, or patience to do the repair myself. So I am looking at taking it to a repair shop and expect a sizable charge to replace the screen.
So if it's going to cost close to $200 for the repair, maybe I should just order a new one. Mine is a 32Gb, but I would be just as happy with a 16Gb model for $350 (I only got the 32Gb because that was what was still in stock on release day). I could then sell my cracked N5 to someone who could do the repair on the cheap and either have themselves a very nice phone or could resell it.
What could I get for a white 32Gb N5 with cracked front glass? $100? Maybe $150?
Searching around Ebay it looks like people are getting $150-180 for the 32GB model with a cracked screen. Just the screen seems to cost $130-$150, but I would take it to the repair shop and see what they would charge before making a decision.
What country are you in? Look for an LG repair store, they will do it for around $110 if I am not mistaking.

The only convenient repair shop wants $225, so I'll just go ahead and order a new one and then see what I can get for the cracked one.
Call LG I'm sure they will charge less than 200.
Supposedly lg charge 150 believe
Sent from my Nexus 5 using xda app-developers app

$225 is crazy, surely an official LG centre will charge less

Must be REALLY convenient.
With the price of the Nexus 5, I think the cost of the repair is almost pointless...
Even if you don't quite break even with selling the broken one on eBay, you'll have a brand new device with a full warranty and one that wasn't dropped, opened and reassembled. I think you've made the right choice!

Yeah, I didn't realize that having a phone with a cracked screen is actually considered "cool" in some circles, so the ones going on eBay will probably not be repaired. This will work out OK for me and I'll end up with a new phone as you said.
Repair it !!

[Q] Broken LCD

Hey guys I just broke my screen a couple days ago. Looking into prices, stores have told me I'll have to pay around $160 to get it fixed.
Well after searching on eBay I found an LCD for $5 and the touch digitizer for like $80. My touchscreen still works so could I just buy the LCD and fix it myself?? And save like 150 dollars?

Possible? Yes.
Likely to be successful? Not at all.
The LCD and glass is fused to the entire front panel. Attempting to replace ONLY the screen/glass is near impossible unless you're a professional, and you're likely to break the digitizer/other components, or it just won't work properly/at all after you're done. What they're (and also LG if you go to them instead) charging you for a repair (around $160) is just about what a new front panel will cost. You're wasting your time trying to replace only the screen/glass.
Also, for US users who bought their device from the Play Store, Google will replace a damaged screen for free, once. I don't know if this applies to any other country as of yet, but it's worth a shot giving them a call.

I was worried that the digitizer is fused to the LCD. Just as a question is it possible for a professional to replace only the LCD? My family member is a professional phone repair guy but he lives in the middle East, I could send it to him...
As for sending it to google, I got the phone from best buy and google only replaces those bought from the play store

Yeah it's possible but not really worth the effort in my opinion. Most of the time when you send a Nexus 5 in for screen repair, they'll just replace the front panel anyways.

[Q] HTC U11 - Cracked Screen - Parts?

Hello all,
Anyone know of any issues with HTC's supply chain for replacement LCD's?
My U11 is cracked after a drop on the road.
My insurance company (O2 Insure) cannot replace or repair my device, as there isn't stock.
HTC UK have advised they can take the phone in, advise me how much the repair will cost and return it.
Although judging by others on this forum and on Twitter, repairs are going slowly or not at all.
Is anyone in the same situation as me?
I have the same problem.
I dropped my phone and the backside broke.
First contacted Dynafix, a Dutch company that performs repairs for HTC. They couldn't say anything about the costs and did not want to say if they had parts.
Because I was afraid I would lose my phone for a long time, I didn't go on with this.
then I contacted HTC, but that didn't help much either. If you want to repair with them, they simply send the device to Dynafix.
Finally contacted Probello (another Dutch company that repairs phones), they told me what I already thought, there are no parts available, something HTC couldn't tell me.
I think it's very bad that there are no parts available and that HTC can't tell anything about when there will be.

Quick update:
I had my U11 replaced on the 7th September by O2 Insurance. It took them 5 weeks to get stock in.
Seems to be a real parts shortage or HTC are holding parts for some unknown reason.
Good luck with repairing yours. I got lucky the insurance came through.
My HTC U11 also cracked!
My U11 is also cracked and it is out of guarantee because it is an user mistake. I have never seen such a sensitive phone. I am living in Turkey and replacement part cannot found. I do not know what to do, just I am frustrated.

FYI, all contract phones through o2 are fully insured for the length of their contract, within the contract itself. Should anything happen to your phone and it is still within its contract just call o2 support on 202 and speak to an advisor. The reason they cover the phone is to get their full money, they must ensure you have a working phone otherwise you may be able to pause or 'squeeze' out of your contract early and no carrier wants that.
Not only that, you're paying over a grand for that phone in the long run so it's only fair they insure it for a few pence too..
