Hi,
You can unlock your HTC 7 Surround using unlock codes. It is the safest and the simplest unlocking methods. Contact your service provider and get the unlock code from them. If they don't provide you with the code, you can get it from online sites. Prounlocking.com is where i unlocked my phone, they offered codes at affordable price with simple unlocking instructions!!

He's not talking about unlocking to use a different carrier sim. He's talking about developer unlock so he can side load apps.

Hi,
Is there any solution to unlock my T-mobile HTc HD7 for free ? There are indeed a lot of websites to provide this solution, but not for free unfortunately.
Many thanks in advance!

I'd like to know as well...I've mostly used CDMA devices so they were always kind of locked I guess...
if you got it subsidized through tmous, they make you wait 60days usually for a free unlock code. Why shouldn't they? If you bought the device subsidized, they have a right to make that money back.
If you bought it outright, they should just give it to you.
I'm talking about buying it outright...
Has anyone come up with a solution to this yet? I am interested in going out of the country in the next month and would like to slip in another sim card while I am out. Thanks! 8)
Riiight.
You just forked out for a really expensive piece of kit. Is it really going to break the bank to pay 19 euros to unlock it?
If you're going to buy the HD7 from T-Mobile at full price you can ask T-Mobile for the unlock code. You just have to fax them the receipt.
Hey guys i'm from Malaysia n i just purchased a HTC HD 7.Wanted to know if the unlock option is available here for free..Thanks
Why would everyone talk about imei unlock sites and 19 bucks, when there is a for-free method? try a search..

I just got mine a few days ago and requested a code using a friends prepaid account. I did that so that they would process it as if I bought it flat out and process it for me. Expecting results tomorrow and will keep posted
Edit: code came in this morning. Whole process took less than 24 hours. Now using my hd7 on att's network.
Also needing an unlock method that is free or very cheap and doesn't require me to ask Tmobile for it.
Thanks.
I am not aware of any sites that work to SIM unlok your phone. What I can contribute is that if you SIM unlock your HD7 through T-Mobile, you will need to have another provider's SIM to complete the process.

So how do you know if it is unlocked? Is that like a clean ESN for CDMA phones? If you buy a phone on contract, is it automatically locked until the contract is up?

If you are buying a phone that is sold by a USA Carrier its got about a 95% is LOCKED. You will know when you put the sim in, if you get ERROR SIM LOCKED, Please Enter Unlock Code, it's locked. Otherwise if it lets you into the phone your golden. Locked/Unlocked is not even close to ESN being clear/bad. Just means carriers have the phone locked to them, you can buy an unlock code for almost any GSM phone for $20 or less
So the lock is just specific to a carrier and not a user?

Correct. So that you have to come to them to get that specific phone
Some phones can be unlocked via tools you can find here on XDA other phones require some bigger equipment and you typically have to go on ebay or a similar site to get your unlock code based on your IMEI number

I don't think AT&T nor Apple can unlock the iPhone 4 for you, and depending in your firmware, you might not be able to do it yourself. I believe anything from 04.11.08 and newer can't be unlocked yet. If your firmware is older, you can get a gevey sim and unlock it using that.
You can call AT&T and ask, but they WILL tell you NO.
only other way is to get a gevey sim if you're on the compatible basebands.
as of right now there is no way to get your phone 4 ios 5 unlocked but the good news is gevey sim is working on it and it should be out very soon
im new so i cant show post links but if you google "gevey sim unlock iphone 4" or something like that u will find what im talking about

Apple will unlock a iPhone, but you have todo it through your phone network. Many carriers world-wide support iPhone unlocking like regular unlocking, but some don't.
It looks like your network dosen't unlock it, so theres no current way of unlocking it unless you get an unofficial unlock (one currently dosen't exist) or use a modified SIM.
Also like to point out xda has a sister site for iOS best use that

Hi there,
I recently bought a cheap Rogers HTC One X in mint condition off my local classifieds ($300). It is locked to Rogers and I need to use it on Telus. What is the best way to unlock it? Is there any way to unlock it for free? I am not experienced at all with Android, I'm coming from an iPhone but would really like to get this working because I'd love to get rid of it and just use my One X.
Please help
No free options yet. You would have to buy an unlock code online

Or you could just go.to the carriers store ans get it unlocked. Tell then you have family over seas and you're buying it as a birthday present. Most of the carriers will unlock it for free.

Actually after an amount of time with good standing they are these days.
Though one like Telus charges 50, so its not worth it versus a few bucks online.

Will using an unlock code permanently unlock the phone? Also, will the unlock be removed by changing ROMs, unlocking the bootloader, etc? Is the unlock code a one-time use kind of thing? How do they even get these unlock codes?

Unlocking your phone unlocks the branding on your phone. Like if you have AT&T and you put as T-Mobile SIM card in, it won't work. If it was unlocked and you did that, it would work.
If you changed your Rom, no. Each phone has their own imei number, therefore it only has one unlock code. As for it being a one time use, no. And if you unlocked your bootloader, no.
The unlock code will perm unlock your phone so you can use it internationally and with different carriers as long as they use SIM cards(and if that card fits in your phone).

Thanks everyone for the replies so far, I really appreciate it! :good: I have only a few last questions before my problem is resolved:
1.) Where is the best place/website to get an unlock code from (in terms of price, success, etc) ?
2.) How do I enter in the unlock code into my phone?

I would try and tell you but, I have never done it and I don't want to be the one to send you down the wrong path and something go wrong.
A completely non-techy friend needs to SIM unlock their HTC A9192. I'd do it for them, but they live in NY and I'm in DC. So, is there a super simple app they can use to SIM unlock? The phone is locked to AT&T US. It has to be SUPER simple, like download this app, plug your phone in, run the app. Anything beyond that, and this friend would be better off spending $10 and just buying an unlock code. Said friend runs windows 7. Their phone is fully AT&T stock, not rooted.
If there's not a one click type app, are there any reputable sites to buy an unlock code? I don't wanna suggest a site to my friend and then they end up with their credit card info stolen.

What about calling at&t and ask them for the unlock code? Sim unlocking is now forbidden in the US.
