[Q] SIm unlock one click app? or reputable site to buy unlock code? - HTC Inspire 4G

A completely non-techy friend needs to SIM unlock their HTC A9192. I'd do it for them, but they live in NY and I'm in DC. So, is there a super simple app they can use to SIM unlock? The phone is locked to AT&T US. It has to be SUPER simple, like download this app, plug your phone in, run the app. Anything beyond that, and this friend would be better off spending $10 and just buying an unlock code. Said friend runs windows 7. Their phone is fully AT&T stock, not rooted.
If there's not a one click type app, are there any reputable sites to buy an unlock code? I don't wanna suggest a site to my friend and then they end up with their credit card info stolen.

What about calling at&t and ask them for the unlock code? Sim unlocking is now forbidden in the US.

AT&T Tilt Unlock Question

Hello, I am new here. I have been reading for days and days now, and I have come up with a question:
I have a brand new AT&T branded Tilt that I want to unlock. I found the Sim unlocker on the stickie. The question is this, AT&T has already provided me with the unlock code for my IMEI number, so if I just use their unlock code will it stay unlocked forever, even if I flash a new rom to the phone? Are there any benefits to using the XDA Sim unlocker versus the unlock code that AT&T provided to me?? Will I still be able to use the phone anywhere in the world with AT&T unlock code?
And what about those internet sites that claim to unlock your phone for a fee, do they work? Because a friend of mine wants to unlock as well, but is scared of the process found on XDA.
If the AT&T unlock code will work, how do I do it??
Thanks for any help.

The Unlock Code that AT&T gave you should work fine. Once you do a SIM unlock it be will be unlocked forever.
Thanks for the help! What about the internet sites that you pay for the unlock codes, do they work??
How do I use the AT&T unlock code?
Sorry, but I didn't find any info on the wiki about that.
You put in a non AT&T sim card and it will ask you for a code. You enter a valid code and you are unlocked.
All the Unlocker does is find your unlock code due to a hack on the radio.
I wouldn't be suprised if some of these sites that sell unlocking actually wouldn't just sell the instructions available free on this site.
Its very easy for your friend to unlock his device. Just follow the instructions. Now, don't hold be liable but I'd say there is a 99% change of the hack working. I did it fine. Took me maybe 30 mins to read and then follow instructions.
No Worry, i did the same thing and works..
Call AT&T explain that you need to use oversea SIM at different country while you travel as for business. they will ask your IEMI code and email unlock code within 3 business day, i just get mine and work perfectly without worrying screw up the radio cracking method and $$$ free.
Great this was very helpful. I am hoping to purcahse a Tilt from At&t on my US account then use my China Mobile sim while I am living here in China. The reason I want the Tilt is for the Chinese language software Pleco. How has everyones experience been with the stylus and screen on the Tilt. Are there any other At&t based devices that I should look into or wait for?

Need a quick answer regarding SIM cards

Hey guys, I'm new to the G1. I just picked a used one up the other day to use over seas. I reset the phone not knowing I need a SIM in there to actually use it. I don't have access to a SIM card currently, but I will have one when I go over seas. Will the phone unlock so I can root it with a SIM card from a different carrier? Or do I need to have a TMobile one in there? My plan leaves tomorrow early morning, so I'm kind of in a bind when it comes to solving my phone issues.

Oops, I thought I posted in General.
The sim card from n e where will work for the rooting process so don't stress that. These instructions will get u n to the phone with out the sim card. http://theunlockr.com/2010/01/10/how-to-activate-the-g1-without-a-data-plan-or-sim-card/
Good luck!

If the phone is locked , you need to get it unlocked first....otherwise it wont use any other network sim other than t-mobile.
The easiest way to unlock it is to call t-mobile and ask them for unlock code by giving them IMEI number of the phone (can be found in the MENU--->SETTINGS---->ABOUT PHONE----->IMEI NUMBER)
They provide the unlock code for free.
Once you have it unlocked, then whatever sim you insert, you will be asked to enter the unlock code. Enter that code and phone will start using that sim.
If you dont get it unlocked here from T-mobile then get it unlocked from the country where you are going...but the charges and success rate of unlocking depends on which country you are going to.....it is very easy and cheap in South Asia like India and Pakistan.....but difficult in Middle East.....
So the best alternative might be to buy a cheap GSM phone there and sell it when you return here.
Have a happy and safe journey
Thanks for the help everyone. Unfortunately, Tmobile couldn't give me an unlock code since I'm not their customer. I've got some more digging to do. I came across some sites offering the code for a fee, are they legit? I just don't understand how they get the code when I can't.
Go to ebay and buy it. for abt $6.49, they will give the code to you. I unlocked mine via ebay... Try any seller.
Based on timezone, buy from US seller or your local seller to get it quick.
Like for US try http://cgi.ebay.com/UNLOCK-CODE-T-M...025?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item1e5f205f99
Make sure u provide them your IMEI code.. dial *#06# Or look under battery.

[Q] Unlock SK4G without SIM?

Hay, maybe it's a stupid question, I hope not..
I'm thinking about getting a Sidekick 4g from the US. I live in Germany.
Can I unlock the phone without acces to the network? Or can I do it with wlan? Because in the unlocking thread is written, that I need that program from the app market. I haven't had an android cellphone before, so I don't know, if I must have a SIMcard for using the phone.
I found some shop that gets the unlock code with the IMEA, that number is written on the phone, right? Is there a way/tutorial to unlock it with IMEA?
I've wanted a sidekick since I knew they exist and now it's possible, with android.
I hope you can help me

I haven't personally unlocked an android device but I unlock a lot of blackberrys, there are many sites that will give you the code for around $15 but if all you need is an app from the market you should have access to the market with a wifi connection and a google account, good luck!
That's what I thought, too. But I don't know, if the phone works without a simcard..?

Yes it does, just can't make calls/send text messages or go online without a wifi connection.
You can unlock the phone without a SIM card no problems. I did it myself. You can install any apps you need by either copying them to the SIM card and launching them from there or sideloading them using ADB. Unlocking the phone just involves dumping a file to the SD card and using a hex editor to find the unlock code.
If the original owner of the phone has had the phone for more than 40 days they can request the Unlock code from T-Mobile, or if you purchase the phone for full price, provide T-Mobile with the reciept and they should send you the unlock code for it. I bought my Sidekick when they first came out and 40days after i ordered it, I asked T-mobile for the unlock code and they emailed it to me. To unlock it all i had to do was put a non-tmobile sim card in it and type the code

TF300TL Sim Unlock Code

Hi,
I got my ASUS Transformer Pad TF300TL from the US on the Black Friday Sale.
One of my friend got it for me from the US.
I preferred TF300TL because I wanted to use the Pad on the go with 3G.
There is one big problem which I am facing now.
The tablet won't take any other Sim Card apart from the one which came with it (An AT&T Sim Card).
It would ask for a "Sim Unlock Code" when some other Sim is inserted.
The AT&T Sim would register with one of my Domestic Service Providers on International Roaming mode.
There is also an application installed AT&T Communication Manager or something.
Can anyone of you help me around this problem.
Is there a way to unlock the Sim and use any other sim card.
Will rooting and removing the AT&T application help??

I can't answer your question. I have a suggestion not to delete the AT&T Communication Manager if you don't get another sim to work you are stuck. If you were rooted you could freeze the app and later unfreeze if needed. I use rom toolbox pro but it and anything that will delete or freeze needs root.
Maybe someone else can help with your current problem.
Good Luck!
If you bought the device outright, and didn't get one subsidized with a service contract, all you have to do is call up AT&T's customer service and they will give you the unlock code . Might have to call more than one to get someone that is competent, but trust me, it can be done

I will assume that you have either the TF300TG or TF300 TL versions and NOT the WiFi only version (TF300T)
If your device is SIM unlocked go to the google play store and pay $1.39 for "APN Manager Pro" It will let you select or configure for almost any carrier's APN settings.
I have similar problem, can some help get the sim unlocked to be used in India

Hey. Just wondering if anyone has solved how to get the TF300TL sim unlocked. I bought it outright from B&H and I tried calling up at&t multiple times for an unlock code, but every time they say there is no unlock code available.
Finally managed to speak with a supervisor who told me that this tablet is at&t exclusive and there is no way to get it unlocked even if I paid full price for it.
Anyone else have this issue or have a way for me to unlock it?
Just to clarify, I'm looking to sim unlock for use with a different carrier, not unlock the bootloader.
Thanks

I'm willing to do that too but... AFAIK info about simlock is locked somewhere on not accessible memory. Since asus did the tricky job with update preventing to do any nvflash backup etc. 'hidden' memory is no longer accessible... Correct me if i'm wrong.

Please provide detailed description of how you accomplished that ! I've tried phoning them multiple times, escalated a couple levels and was told that 'the manufacturer' couldn't provide them the unlock code for my IMEI. I tried contacting Asus and was told I needed to go through AT&T.
Thanks,
Steven.
Submitted and unlock form, they said no. I called them and said...
1) I'm recording this call
2) (got employee info)
3) cited court order that they must unlock devices that meet the criteria
4) explained that asus has given them the unlock codes and said I had a call recording of asus saying this.
5) explained that I would call every 3 days until they unlocked it
on my 4th call they said it would be unlocked. Received MSG from [email protected] with unlock code.

SIM Unlock T-Mobile LG G5

Hello All,
Any recommendations to a website that will Sim Unlock my T-Mobile device to use it on international GSM?
Thanks
Are you currently a T-Mobile customer or no? If so you should be able to get them to unlock it for you. If not I don't know the answer.
Ebay and other unlocking sites offer the T-Mobile app unlock up for sale, anywhere between 25-50 bucks or so.
There is an app on there to check if you are eligible for unlock.
Traditionally, you could call T-Mo's Customer Care and request an unlock. They have been generally pretty lenient on letting people unlock (especially for long time customers).
However, seeing as there is this unlock app built in to the phone that has a temporary unlock option, you may only get authorized to use that until your phone is paid off or something to that extent.
It is definitely worth a call.

Bought my wife's G5 from T-Mobile Online. Called to request to have it unlocked and they told me they have a 40 day waiting period then I can have it unlocked. They waived it immediately once I told them I was in the military and currently stationed overseas. Took about 6hrs to receive the unlock information.

Congrats. You saved the 40 days waiting. My case was different, after i purchased mine on ebay, i found out that the IMEI is blacklisted (outstanding balance), so i had to go to third party services.

Well, that sucks. I'll always buy from Swappa since I bought my LG v10 from there. Also remember, if you're buying a phone from someone, to ask for the IMEI to verify with the carrier that it isn't blacklisted. You probably actually paid the person enough so they can fix themselves.

Well, the issue was solved with 45$ I was in a hurry to buy it because the price was attractive and swappa had much higher prices. Well next time, for sure more investigation must be done before buying.
I dont mean to hijack this thread but it's exactly my problem. I have at&t in Iowa (pretty much no tmobile presence here) bought a brand new g5 off ebay wasnt paying attention to the fact that it was locked to tmobile. I did try a site that charges 30 something bucks to get it unlocked and they emailed be back the next day saying they couldnt do it. I checked the eimi or whatever on swappa, says its clean. I saw somewhere that the best way to get the unlock code is to order a prepaid sim and load some money on it and wait 2 weeks and then request the unlock code? I went to tmobile's website and got halfway through the prepaid sim screens but when i put the eimi number in it comes back with nothing, i am assuming thats because the phone has never been activated anywhere before? Appreciate the help, I dont want to pile more dumb on top of dumb...
I need help unlocking my LG g5. I bought it online through eBay from someone that works at LG.
The phone came sealed, I ordered a unlock code, but I discovered as soon as I turned it on that now I need to unlock through t-mobile device unlock app.
The site I ordered my code said they would change my status on the t-mobile database so I can unlock the device through the app.
I Googled around and that should have worked. But apparently my IMEI is not registered t-mobile.
I bought a prepaid Sim and put it on the phone. It's working at t-mobile but its still not at their database (the IMEI).
What should I do?
Is there any way to force the IMEI to t-mobile database so it can be unlocked through the third party?
Or is there any other way to unlock it.
Please help...

It says:
Unlock Failed: This mobile device is eligible for unlock. For device unlock eligibility details, please go online or contact Customer Support.
And even if I go online, to T-Mobile IMEI check website, it says my IMEI is not recognized at T-Mobile.
Thats the problem.
Although I'm using it at T-Mobile, and it is a T-Mobile branded phone.
And because it's not at the database, I can't do ANYTHING to try to unlock it through third parties.

Maybe it has been bought on contract and must have been activated first so that IMEI would be registered at T-Mobile.
Mine was blacklisted and i unlocked it. It shouldn't be a big deal for yours.
I would suggest drop T_mobile a visit or call, and check with them what is wrong.
Logically, if the IMEI is not on their database then it shouldn't be carrier locked.
I will drop you a PM for a contact that might help you in this issue.

Wrong my friend. If the phone is on TMO but IMEI is not in theit database that means phone wasn't activated on TMO network, which means you're not gonna be able to unlock it through official unlock app.
I wonder if this phone unlockeble at all without using that unlock app.

Noway get it unlocked without using the app. That is why unlocking service is starting from 30$ up to 45$. After i got confirmation from my unlock provider, i run the app, permanent unlock, and then unlock successfull reboot phone.
