Hello all,
My Google Music service hasn't been working for two weeks. I looked and looked online to solve the issue and reinstalled many times but no luck.
Google Music would sync perfectly however, when it came to playing song: the loading ring would come up and then dissappear with no music playing.
The solution to this is simple: go online to your Google Account and open up Music Settings>Manage My Devices. Under "Manage My Devices" deauthorize all mobile phones linked to your account and reinstall Google Music.
This will fix this problem.
I hope many people find this helpful since I was scratching my head for weeks trying to figure this out.
Thanks

Hi all, I've been using Google Music for a few weeks now and it's pretty cool.
However, one issue I've faced is duplicate songs being listed, i.e. the songs I have stored locally and in 'the Cloud' show up in the Google Music app.
I understand it's beta but are there any workarounds? I've tried the ones from the Droid Incredible thread BTW.
Thank you.

Did you ever get an answer to this? I am seeing the same on my phone and was wondering what/if any solution is out there
I'm in the same boat. I've just picked up a Nexus.
Seems the only way to have them local and not appear twice is to download them through the app as opposed to manually copying them over USB.

Have you checked what shows as your library when you log into Google Play from a "regular" computer?
Sometimes, the info it has stored for album & song descriptions - whatever the heck they call it - is not correctly set for it to recognize that something is a duplicate.
Also, I know that it does not know anything about what I may have loaded just onto my Nexus, even though it "syncs" - must be one-way only, Cloud to device.
Songs have to be "downloaded" (uploaded?) into Google Music for it to recognize them. You may have duplicates because of this.
A very nice work around is to setup playlists of specific albums & artists, for your locally loaded stuff & what is not duplicated, and ignore the Albums & Artist display modes on your device. You can setup a playlist with just one album, and not include the tracks you don't particularly like - isn't there. usually at least one on most albums? - and just the locally stored or Cloud stored versions of the song(s).
I have everything on my Nexus at this point so I can listen when not networked. Then again, I have not had it long so I've not eaten up all my storage yet.
I hope this helps!

Hi all,
I've been jumping between different ICS ROM bakes to find the one that suits me best, and have had to change some because they've become so laggy after running for a week or two, and I couldn't figure out why.
I'm currently on CyberGR's ROM v7 and it works great on my phone with SIO and lulzactivev2 CPU setup, no overclock, 18hrs+ with medium to heavy usage. Perfect.
But this morning, my MP3s started to skip and the phone was lagging and taking a second or two to notice each keypress.
The one thing I'd done, is sign in to Google Music (previously, I hadn't even started the app as I always use the widget).
I immediately told it to hide my online music, and tried to disable any sync'ing of the 20,000 tracks I have in Google Music, but it just sat there, lagging, 100% CPU, and a spinning circle.
Force-killing the App made no difference either. The phone was just lagging constantly, even though Music.apk was no longer running.
Reboot. Wait for it to settle... lag.
It just wouldn't go away.
So, I opened the App Info on Google Music, cleared all App Data and it's App Cache, and boom. Lag gone.
Open up Google Music, intro about online music, etc - press Back to ignore - play MP3s, all playing smoothly...
Has anyone else experienced this?
Does having a large online Google Music library mean I can't have it linked on my phone?
Is there a way to stop it asking me to sign in every time I start up Google Music?
I can start it via the widget, then open it... but the widget might not be on the track I want to listen to
Settings. Accounts and sync. Uncheck google music.
Now why didn't I think of that... hadn't noticed it hiding at the bottom of the Sync list.
Yup - lag is gone... Ok, that was easy!
Thanks
But does of course mean that I can't use the online Google Music thing... but hey, better then a nag screen I 'spose!
Hey! I'm new here, but I'm sure someone could help me out. I love this ROM first of all, but ever since since I've had it my Play Music hasn't refreshed. It has the music that was on it before I got this ROM, but I've bought 2 new albums on Play and they will not appear. I've check my Accounts and Sync setting to see if "Sync Music" was checked and it wasn't there at all. What is the problem? Is it impossible to sync music on this ROM?
Ok I have been looking for info on this since last night havent found anything.
I just downloaded the latest version of Google Music and Google search
When I tell it to listen to any of the songs on my sd card it opens google music and finds the aong or songs but doesnt automatically start playing them it just shows them to me in the search of google music.
I tried clearing data that didnt do anything. I Went to the help from the app that comes up when you clear the data to help pick a music player that will work with the listen to function and it says from googles help page the info is no longer available.
I have the latest google music why is not playing the trak and just showing me a list of the song and this is the same on my prime.
Its not like need that bad but rembered it was a badass function ans was surprised it wasnt working last night. Let me know of what you guys think or if yours is working and how to solve this thanks for your time. It just anoying az hell that such a simple function that was presented last year isnt working.
I'm surprised this hasn't gotten any coverage from any android site thus far. If you have local music files (aka not streaming, files you've uploaded to google play music) you can no longer play these files with voice commands. Google claims to be looking into it but it hasn't been fixed in months.

is the only place i can find talking about it.
is anyone else having this problem and unhappy about it?

I just got a new phone and I guess my old Nexus 5 (which I had upgraded to Nougat) didn't seem to have a problem but my new LG V30 has it. I can't seem to call on music like I used to, just by saying an artist or an artist and a song. I am not playing locally stored music (although that would also be nice) but music that I uploaded to the Google Play Music library. A terrible decision if this is how it is going to be.

I'm running Nougat on my Xperia Z5.
When I tell the Google Assistant «Play the song "track title"», it searches in YouTube and tries to open YouTube app. However, sometimes it plays it from my local storage using Google Play Music app.
But whenever I disconnect my phone from internet, Google Assistant always plays the song from phone's local storage using the same command.
By the way, it's very irritating that I have to turn off Wi-Fi and mobile data whenever I wanna play a song from my phone's storage.
