What To Know Before Purchasing An Android Tablet PC - Android Software/Hacking General [Developers Only]

Android tablet pc is popular not only for cheap price but also a variety of choices. When you walk into a store or browse an electronic online store to buy a tablet, your thoughts may be in a mess facing so many models. In this post, I’d like to introduce the basic but significant elements of Android tablet pc to help you out.
SOC (System on a Chip)
Nowadays most of the Android tablet pc manufacturers are from small factories, Shenzhen, China. Before a tablet comes out, several steps need to be processed, during which the design of SOC is the key to decide the quality of a tablet. Here are some common SOC in the market.
1. VIA8650 is designed by VIA Technologies, Inc, who provides a stable and mature turekey solution. It has the hardware and software both debugged. Manufacturers can directly produce tablets based on the design without any change. Its highlight is its super cheap price, and so is the tablet produced.
EKEN M009S and Gpad M009B both VIA8650.
2. AML8726 (Amlogic 8726) is one of the quite mature SOCs that can support Android 2.3 in China. It has Cortex A9, 65nm LP and 800MHz CPU Clock Speed. Mali400 GPU (Graphic Process Unit) is applied on it so large 3D games can run on it smoothly. Another advantage is that it supports HTML5, which can play online videos. Apple products only support HTML5 instead of FLASH, so AML8726 gives you iPad experience.
Z280-R10 and Q7 both AML8726
3. RK2918 (RockChip 2918)
RK2918 has updated to SDK 2.0 (Software Development Kit), which can copy the interface of Android 3.0. Cortex A8, 1GHz CPU contributes to better and stable performance on graphic processing than A9. There is no problem to play 1080P videos on it.
Wopad i7
Below are the results of RK2918′s performance in two tests: Neocore test and Nbench, higher is better.
Other good SOCs: Samsung PV210 that has good performance and support many games but TF card ROM decreases its life and stability; Renesas EV2 uses Dual-core A9 which consumes less power but large games don’t run well on it.
RAM (Random Access Memory) and ROM (Read-Only Memory)
RAM is a form of computer data storage, which can be both read and written, the larger the faster. The smallest one is only 256MB, like VIA8650. Common Android tablet pcs have 512MB RAM, and at least DDR (Double Data Rate), usually DDR2 and DDR3.
ROM usually reaches 2GB, 4GB, 8GB or higher. Another element is the Extend Card. Maybe the ROM of a tablet is only 2GB, but it supports TF card that can extend to 32GB. It’s also great, is it?
Touch Screen
Next comes to the touch screens. Normally VIA8650 uses the resistive screen. But the resistive screen gives uncomfortable touch feelings. As a result, more and more tablets now use the capacitive screen instead of resistive screen, although the former is much more expensive than the latter. Besides, it comes to TFT screen. There are diverse sizes, 7 inch, 8 inch, 9.7 inch and 10.1 inch. You can choose the corresponding according to your purpose. More advanced screen is IPS screen which can give better experiences.
All the basic elements above can be read on the package of an Android tablet pc or in the description page of an online product. Keep all of them in mind when you choose your android tablet pc. It’s our pleasure to give you detailed guidance to wise shopping, especially electronic gadgets, like tablets and android cell phones. To be continued.

You can find the above-mentioned tablets from the following site. You can refer to it.

A plethora of new, Linux-based, high-end mobile devices to debut soon?

Linux undoubtedly has its place on mobile devices under the sun. Now that I’m planning a new roundup of all “let’s remote control your desktop PC from your Pocket PC” solutions, I’ve also thoroughly tested the well-known Linux-based rdesktop on my Sharp Zaurus C-760 (running under pdaXrom, the native (!) X-Window environment for Sharp Zaurii; its non-pdaXrom-based versions are qtrdesktop (Cacko and the original Sharp ROM) and Opie-rdesktop for OZ/OPIE; also see this for more info) and found it immensely better and more feature-rich than most other (even commercial – see for example Mocha’s Remote Desktop client) Pocket PC- or Palm OS-based remote desktop solutions. And the list doesn’t end in here: you can run for example Kismet on most Linux-based, Wi-Fi enabled devices (like the Zaurii with a Wi-Fi card).

Now, all major “gadget” manufacturers have announced Linux-based mobile devices. They are as follows (I really recommend checking out the links!):
Nokia 330 (successor to the well-known Nokia 770 Internet Tablet). It’s rumored to have built-in GPS, 3.5”, high-resolution screen, DivX / MP3 video playback capabilities and a lot more. If the Web browser will be at least as good as Nokia OSS (which, I have to admit, isn’t very bad, albeit it does have its share of problems) or will be a direct port of Firefox, then, this gadget will be really cool and much more appealing than the Nokia 770. (Particularly if the screen will be much better / brighter than that of the 770 and the price won’t be much higher either.)
Sony MyLo: this seems to be another REALLY cool device: video (!!!) phoning with the built-in Skype client, probably games, Wi-Fi, built-in Opera (the Linux version of Opera is, currently, far superior to the current, 8.6 version, Pocket PC-based Opera Mobile).
Archos 604: another promising, Linux-based, Wi-Fi enabled device with a 30Gbyte hard disk with TV out and a 4.3-inch 480x272 screen. Unlike earlier, “dumb” Archos devices, it’ll greatly support Internet connectivity and contains the Linux version of Opera.
PepperPad 3: another video playback-oriented, Linux-based device: thumbwheel, TV-out, general ruggedness, kitchen- and bathtub-readiness (cool – you’ll be able to watch videos in your bathtub without fearing it’ll go wrong!), and a generally ergonomic design.
What does HTC (the major Windows Mobile manufacturer) do in the meantime? It seems they are just resting on their laurels and don’t plan to release anything really cool and multimedia-related. It’s only much smaller companies, for example Gigabyte, that do release really advanced devices. These aren’t, however, available outside the Pacific region. Someone should awake the HTC folks

NVIDIA TEGRA UI
From one of our many resources hidden deep within the “bush” we bring to you a spreadsheet with some handy info on it… All the specs, names and chipsets of the upcoming HTC releases.
WMPoweruser.com reported earlier on the leaked releases of these, but now we get to see some more names and specs. Its good to see the Thoth and Whitestone… And Seeing all the Windows Mobile 6.1 out there makes me think that they are coming out soon. I am very curious about the Star and SuperStar… And I am VERY intrigued by the NVIDIA AP16 chipset. It is also good to see all the WVGA screens coming out, but I’d like to see more storage/RAM and more speed out there like the Thoth! Stay tuned for some more great phones coming out!

The THOTH does look appealing, but HTC + Qualcomm is not a good combination. It's coming out with WM 6.5, with WM 7 coming soon, I wonder if they will provide an OS upgrade.

Frankly speaking, compared with the former tablet, the latter is better equipped, possessed with stronger functionalities. By practical operation, we can install and play 3D games on Zenithink C71. Besides, not only can you process multi-tasks with your control panel, but high-definition videos are completely supported for broadcasting. All in all, the most value stuff relies on its interactive design of video communication.
To evaluate the two, the later one counts better performance, better reaction speed, better touch-sensitive, better software compatibility and smoother apps processing.
It's no doubt the user experience counts the most important point among all other specialties.
Shortly, the portable panel tablet has now developing from ARM11 to Cortex A8/A9; customers are more emphasized on the functionalities and user experience.

CPU
RK2918 uses the mainstream 1GHz Cortex A8 core chip, ensuring high speed when processing. In addition, it is extraordinary for it to have GC800 GPU, which has better performance than ARM Mali400G. GC800 was designed for games, large triangle throughput, triangle formation rate and pixel fill rate every second. It enables you to play any large 3D games smoothly as you want.

No.1 Plus-1:1 Oneplus one clone full review

No.1 brand is now very well-known for great clones of those latest and outstanding smartphones. I remember it has released No.1 mi4 as Xiaomi mi4 clone, No.1 v phone i6 as iphone 6 clone, No.1 plus as Oneplus one clone. Now i have got No.1 plus smartphone. We must know why they release such kinds of copies, due to the competitive price and the trendy design. Therefore, i will introduce this smartphone in the following aspects in order to let you know it more specifically.

Highlight 1: 5.5 inch 1280 * 720 HD IPS Screen
Even if No.1 plus is the clone of oneplus one, the design will be similar as Oneplus one. We guess right that it comes with 5.5inch HD IPS screen with 1280*720pixels screen resolution. In view of screen quality, when i turn on the smartphone, and watch the videos, the speed performs fast and swiftly. As is known to all, screen resolution is the key to affect the picture quality. This one has high definition, and it can also record full high definition video, especially watch 3D movies. I am very sastified with screen.
Highlight 2: MTK6582 Quad Core 1.3GHz
For a smartphone, the hardware is very significant, which means the CPU of this smartphone affects most the overall performance. Because of the cheap price, it is powered by MTK6582 Quad core 1.3GHz processor, which runs faster than those dual core smartphones. MTK chipset is the mainstream for the manufacturers, therefore, this time, No.1 still uses MTK chipset to get the customers' attention. My experience is that when i play a mid-range games, it runs awesome.
Highlight 3: 1GB RAM + 8GB ROM
When i got this smartphone, i also have guessed the internal storage. Because this smartphone has the price below $130, it can't be ROM 16GB. Although it sports RAM 1GB ROM 8GB, it can be expanded by ROM 32GB by a TF card. There is a gentle tip that don't download many apps, because it will be stuck.
Highlight 4: Android 4.4 kitkat OS
There are different kinds of customers who pursue the latest system. This smartphone has the latest android4.4 kitkat OS. Compared with Android4.2 Jelly bean OS, the overall performance has been greatly improved. It brings more convenience and simplicity compared with those android4.2 jelly bean system.
Highlight 5: 8.0MP Rear Camera + 5.0MP Front Camera (System show 17MP + 8MP)
I have also checked the dual camera that it has 8mp rear camera and 5MP front camera. But the system shows 17MP rear and 8MP front camera. But i take pictures with good quality and much clearity, therefore, i can memorize the beautiful moments with my family by this nice smartphone. It's worthwhile to highly recommend.
Highlight 6: Support 3G, GPS, WIFI, Bluetooth, Multilanguage, Gesture Sensing
This smartphone has some unique features that i like much. For example, it supports gesture sensing, which i can wave my hands to open the pictures and accept the call or refuse the call from the strangers. And it can also support mulit language which let me set it in my mother tongue.
In conclusion, it has attracted my great attention that not only it 's of Oneplus one clone, but also the ultra-competitive price and performance compared with other Chinese smartphone. Therefore, i show it for your reference. And if you want to know more, just leave comments to discuss.
Is this phone reasonably easy to carry in a typical shirt pocket? Also, I will be using this phone to play music, can you advise how good the audio output through headphones is please? Are all phones using the MTK the same quality music? I don't need ultra high quality since most of my listening will be at work probably thru Panasonic clip overs, but I do want clean and clear, not bass heavy, output.
Thank you for the review,
Hal55
