[FIX]Your GPS will work! Update! - Samsung Galaxy S (4G Model)

Here is a flashable fix for GPS. It will put AngryGPS into your system folder.
This is the only thing that has worked for me with every ROM I've tried.
Download: http://www.multiupload.com/GFYVVOWRB0
Reboot to recovery
Flash Zip
Reboot.
Go outside. Test GPS with an app that requires it. Give it some time to lock on.
I take no credit for this. It was sent to me by a friend. Just passing along.
Update: thanks atb1183
what black magic is this?!
wow, phone use to take 30s to a few minutes to get a lock. this and other roms
then i make a shortcut (add > shortcut > activities > angrygps> ...angrygps)
run that, click on tracking test
another 10s and i get gps lock. now all apps get gps lock almost instantly.
i can actually get gps in my work building that cant even get 3g, 4g, edge, or even voice signal without repeaters running.
I hope other devs include this sorcery in their roms as well. and somehow make it run automatically daily to ensure awesome GPS

This method will get you a lock inside in seconds with like 5 meter accuracy. You can make the shortcut using launcherpro. Other launchers may work. Thanks again atb1183!

My GPS still take a long time to get a fix after installing this
I'm using GPS aids free, anyone know why XTRA method fails every time?
Sent from my SGH-T959V using XDA App

My GPS locked in like 20 secs. Use to take minutes. Good post

Mine also takes awhile to lock, but at least it does. I'm using simple mobile and can't get the xtra to download either. Went 3 months without GPS until I found this fix.

Definite improvement, thanks

Not seeing any improvement. Is there some tweaking I should combine with it?

Does your GPS lock on at all?

Yes, with every thing I've ever tried it will lock but it takes 5-10 minutes. I have tried various tweeks that have been suggested with libtestmode, gps aids, and gps status. None seem to make any real difference.
When I saw this thread I just flashed the zip on top of what ever state it was in, and again I don't see a difference.
So I'm wondering if there are optimal settings needed to take advantage of this zip.

I had a semi fresh flash of octaine on my phone before flagging this, nothing special and it worked like a charm. Maybe reflashing to clear all of the other things you tried will help.

Really slow GPS lock

I'm running stock and my GPS is incredibly slow. Using GPS Fix can never get a fix within 15 minutes. Any ideas? Should I just return the phone? I bought it at a tmobile store over a month ago. Would they even accept returns this far out?
You only have 14days to return but I would go plead a case how your not satisfied with the product

I'm having this problem too. Nothing seems to fix it!! arghhhhhhhhh
I think installing a Gingerbread build breaks the GPS.

That's when my problems started.
Hopefully the official GB update provides some fixed GPS drivers.
I noticed that it goes back and forth for me. Sometimes it locks right away, other times I have to close and reopen slash turn off and on GPS. Do remember though there are always areas that are hard for any GPS to fix a location on. I know some of them here in the twin cities.

That's what I thought...at first.
But I have 2 G2xs. One that has never been flashed, and one that was flashed to CM7 and back to stock.
Never been flashed picks up GPS everywhere, indoors, outdoors in under 5 seconds. It's perfect.
Flashed one hardly works. Sometimes never gets any GPS satellites. Other times it gets them but never locks, even with 9 or more satellites in view. Before flashing, it worked fine.

Recommend GPS settings?

currently running my infuse 4g with infused 2.1.0 anyways GPS isn't locking.
any settings that I should change to help this?
Noticed that its using the default " www.spirent-lcs.com"
I know with other
Android phones google.supl or something like that improves It
Any ideas?

You can't run any.other GPS fix apps or it'll block configuration from working.
Follow the configuration instructions, don't have any other GPS fix apps installed.then reboot after you back other GPS file up and put new configuration file in, after you reboot go into settings, applications and clear GPS data. Then go into lbs mode into supl settings and make sure its on auto config. Then run lbs test until it locks. That's best I got bro that's what fixed mine and four of my friends and some on here as well. Like I said alleluia phones are different. Good luck and best wishes

An android 2.3.4, an insertion matrux portable from Galaxy S through Hellraiser beta 6. "There was an unexpected stop of appendix Service mode (process com.sec.android.app.servicemodeapp). Repeat attempt."
GPS badly works, it is not connected at all to companions more precisely.

GPS lock takes long time :(

GPS lock takes forever. Some times doesn't even lock. Anyone else having this problem.

Get GPS Aids Donate app, download new LTO file. Also, calibrate compass and pitch and roll using the GPS Status app.
Allow 10 to 15 minutes for first lock either outside, in car, or near a window if indoors.
Report your results here for further diagnosis.
Also, there were some great posts from cnote/jager/etc earlier when I was having a lot of GPS trouble. I'll post links when I get to a computer.
I rerouted my GPS through a Sony system instead of googles. Seems pretty snappy but i'm still testing everything...

I pulled lbsTesMode.apk from an old ROM. Using supermanager, I went under apk manager, sleceted lbsTestMode.apk, then activity and selected the shortcut icon the first entry (.lbsTestMode) to make a shortcut on the homescreen. Went to my homescreen, selected the new icon; went to SUPL/CP Settings and put supl.google.com for the server. Then I dialed *#*#INFO#*#* selected phone information and scrolled down. I hit the refresh button and checked what was in the SMSC box. I then replaced that with 07913121139418f0. Since then my GPS takes about 5 to 7 seconds to get a lock. On some phones you can make those changes by dialing *#*#3214789650#*#*, but for some reason I get an FC when I dial that (it's service mode).

4.0.4 UCLF6 bad GPS

Hi,
Any one noticed bad GPS reception after upgrading to latest ICS? Usually it takes Maps 2 to 3 seconds to lock to GPS, not it takes 2 minutes.

I use my GPS everyday for work. I have noticed from 2.3.6 that it takes longer to locate my position and it says "follow the route" instead of starting the directions. If I start driving it kicks in and works fine. At least it hasn't crashed on me. I had something wrong with 2.3.6, it would want me to set it to manual network time in the middle of driving somewhere. I will try those fixing and let you know.

just wanted to say thanks for bringing this up. i was amazed how well it worked knowing how horrible my gps was before. this works almost instantly for me.
I have a huge problem with Gps. It takes like 3 mins even with stock config or one in tweaked... There's a lot of instructions here for non captivate users and I'm worried about messing it up... How exactly did you go about it? ... Thanks stuey..
