So technically its the Droid prime, and that's what I'm calling it from now on.
Reasons why....
-4g in my city now
-Newest gingerbread build
-Vodoo screen tuning, makes it look high res
-Tegra over clock takes advantage of the gingerbread build
-updates from google has the apps running smooth
-crt animation
-new zeam launcher update made great performance enhancements.
My Droid prime just arrived so It would be dumb to abandon it when it just started to shine.
Yes cool story bro

It's just EP3 Humble, and I use GPS daily. It goes into my car dock as soon as i get in, and my car home uses GPS for speedometer and compass functions.
I think frequently using helps a lot, and it's because of the way the GPS works as a whole. The satellite almanac and ephemeris has to be reasonably up to date to get a fast lock. That's true even for handheld and standalone GPS units. My $400 hiking GPS takes up to 5 minutes to get a lock if I haven't had it on for a few weeks, but lock before the software even finishes booting if I've had it on within the last few days.

Yup, in fact they added a button for Auto Rotation so that you can disable it when you're lying down and don't want that **** to rotate!
Air plane mode isn't there though (it's in your power options) just Wi-FI/BT/GPS/SILENT/AutoRotation
I'm not having any issues with text... i did the Prop file... Not sure if i was having a problem with that or not though
If the voodoo kernel is installed, should we disable lagfix, or does this rewrite everything? I guess the factory reset takes care of that?
EDIT: Went ahead and took the plunge after disabling lagfix. I realize it probably wasn't necessary, but better safe than sorry.

Battery life is the most important aspect for my daily needs. Not of big fan of CM7. I would prefer a Rom setup similar to stock regarding internal and external storage.
Add lots of color but keep the fonts stock. Theming the black and white icons found on stock would be great.

Personally I would like to see a pure Gingerbread rom with OC'ed kernel and just adding the Theme Chooser. I don't need notification toggles because I can just use the power control widget on a homescreen in order to toggle. I'm more interested in speed and stability myself and don't worry about battery life like others. Though I can see how battery life would be important. I OC right now to 1.55/1.55 with performance governor, so my personal battery life is crap, lol.
Just something simple, stable Kernel (but without sacrificing performance and battery life), and definitely gotta have the LG camera.
So, I'm guessing most of you would like a 2.3.3 based ROM?

Would be nice if it were 2.3.5, lol.
2.2.2 has Enables for Background sync, and Auto-sync. I'd like to have a timed sync - like while "screen off", every n minutes allow background and auto syncing, then disable syncing.
It appears that when WiFi calling is active, the cell radio is enabled or occasionally enabled? I'd like to see the cell radio totally disabled when WiFi calling is active.
Maybe the wrong thread, but it'd be good to be able to "nice" individual processes.
I suppose some of these are already do-able, I just hadn't found it yet.
Thanks.

Weapons does not have the ability to play Netflix. CM7 does, but HBO Go doesn't work; plus CM7 doesn't allow you to adjust HDMI output.

Pretty sure Raver put some different GPS drivers and some other tweaks in that one. Maybe he'll chime it to verify but I remember the GPS working very well on VB. That being said "very well" for this phone is still not that great.
Erik had GPS working well on one of his ICS ROMS as well just can't remember which one right now.

Im curious about this myself. I spent fifteen minutes trying to get a lock. Eff'in shade trees seem to kill my gps signal. If I go half a mile away it will lock faster but it still shows my accuracy bubble in the hundred meter range.
Do you have to be outside to have a GPS lock? Seems like Gingerbread didn't have a trouble locking on while indoors..

I'm on CM9 r8 and it takes 15 sec to lock but the accuracy is far from off and it's the same thing on nexus beam. That's the rom I came from before cm9 looking to fix that problem but I got nothing
Sent from my SGH-T959V using xda app-developers app
Honestly the best ROM I've ever used for getting a fast GPS lock was CyanogenMod 7. My phone would get a lock in just a couple seconds even while indoors.
I've tried every ROM on this forum and I have been really happy with Valhalla Black. Valhalla Black+Anthax Kernel+Lightning Zap and the phone run awesome. I usually get a GPS lock in about 5 seconds.
This all cracks me up. Unless you have different GPS binaries or configs on the different ROMs, you're seeing "normal, run-to-run variations" in the times. GPS satellites move relatively quickly across the sky and the "constellation" changes by the minute -- as will the ability of any GPS receiver to lock on them.
I doubt any of the current crop of ICS ROMs have any differences in anything that matters. I'd love to be proven wrong and I'm sure ROM cooks/developers would like to know if one set of binaries/configs performed better than another.
Some of the files involved include (looking at my current AOKP build, your files may vary):
/system/vendor/bin/samsung-gpsd
/system/vendor/bin/gpsd
/system/vendor/lib/hw/gps.s5pc110.so
/system/lib/libclientgps.so
/system/etc/vendor/samsung-agps/secgps.conf
/system/etc/gps.xml
For CM7, CM9, AOKP and perhaps a few more, you can look at the source trees and see if there is any difference, or look at the md5 hash for a quick check.
Arguably, the kernel driver and the location services in the framework could have an effect, but I doubt anyone not building from scratch are modifying those.
RaverX3X did make some suggestions on improving GPS lock time that may still apply.
