Keep it clean and smooth. Don't need all the junks.
Usable
-GPS Lock
-A2DP
-Good Camera
-low battery drain
-A good, fast launcher that's fully customizable
-I love notification toggles
Make it all work and you'll get the devotion of the entire community!
Notification toggles are a must. I can't use a rom without them.

-HDMI output control
-Ability to use both Netflix and HBO Go.
-Colorized theme
-Toggle controls (sound, wifi, data, gps, etc) in drop down.
Battery life is the most important aspect for my daily needs. Not of big fan of CM7. I would prefer a Rom setup similar to stock regarding internal and external storage.
Add lots of color but keep the fonts stock. Theming the black and white icons found on stock would be great.
+1 on the NetFlix comment.
Thank you for your efforts.

Personally I would like to see a pure Gingerbread rom with OC'ed kernel and just adding the Theme Chooser. I don't need notification toggles because I can just use the power control widget on a homescreen in order to toggle. I'm more interested in speed and stability myself and don't worry about battery life like others. Though I can see how battery life would be important. I OC right now to 1.55/1.55 with performance governor, so my personal battery life is crap, lol.
Just something simple, stable Kernel (but without sacrificing performance and battery life), and definitely gotta have the LG camera.
So, I'm guessing most of you would like a 2.3.3 based ROM?

Would be nice if it were 2.3.5, lol.
2.2.2 has Enables for Background sync, and Auto-sync. I'd like to have a timed sync - like while "screen off", every n minutes allow background and auto syncing, then disable syncing.
It appears that when WiFi calling is active, the cell radio is enabled or occasionally enabled? I'd like to see the cell radio totally disabled when WiFi calling is active.
Maybe the wrong thread, but it'd be good to be able to "nice" individual processes.
I suppose some of these are already do-able, I just hadn't found it yet.
Thanks.

Weapons does not have the ability to play Netflix. CM7 does, but HBO Go doesn't work; plus CM7 doesn't allow you to adjust HDMI output.

Here's the problem...Weapon was serious buggy. GPS wouldn't lock, battery drain and it would freeze up on me. After the last Black screen of doom I had to wish it goodbye.

MIUI is certainly a good one, especially if you like the iPhone look (you can change this of course with a custom launcher but the menus and such still look "iPhony"). If you're into trying out a few others besides MIUI you may want to have a look at CM7. One thing I like is that it has a wide array of tweakable automatic brightness settings. Every ROM I've tried, the brightness is either too dark at times (like when I'm in my car) or too bright such as when I'm in bed at night in a dark room. I don't like to always have to be fiddling with the manual brightness settings. With most ROMs you're stuck with whatever automatic brightness settings suit the developer. CM7 allows tweaking the brightness for specific ambient light levels, and has various overlap/hysteresis settings to minimize any rapid increase/decrease of brightness when the ambient light changes or is right on the borderline between levels.
With most ROMs you can turn the haptic feedback either on or off with no adjustments. CM7 allows you to tweak the exact level of haptic feedback you want. I like just a light "bump" of haptic feedback (about 20ms) when hitting the capacitive buttons or when long pressing an icon. Plus this saves a smidgen of battery life over the full blown haptic.
Couple the fact that the undervoltable LordMod kernels work with CM7 and MIUI and you've got a real winning combination, with battery life as good or better than the stock ROM.
+1 for MIUI. And people forget that it's CM7 based.

what apps would you guys like to see
and what launcher are you all feeling as the default
hmm..well for me? cm7 is missing absolutely nothing.... it really is the perfect rom. largest userbase of any android rom by far, for good reason
Missing working gps and nfl app for me. Even with the fixes, gps is buggy for me.

Sense camera. A calender that integrates with facebook. And working gps.
Sent from my ADR6400L using Tapatalk
Network Location and cotact management that does not suck. Managing groups, sharing VCard files etc should not require an app.
Oh same goes for quick dialing (IE you dial a name and it brings up your contacts)
Batti battery gauge (MIUI has this, it is a bar at the top of the screen). OMFGB has done this now too.
NFL, it's the reason I haven't run aosp in over a month.

NFL Mobile; I am on the same boat...
better camera app and louder incall volume.
Just remove the AOSP Camera and replace it with the MIUI camera. It is much better.
Also I agree getting NFL Mobile to work would be awesome!
I hate to say it but if Verizon is going to charge for the NFL app ($10 a month) I have a feeling the need for it is going to decrease.
On the other hand I would pay you to get Network Location working. That is the only thing that keeps me from AOSP. There is just way too many things that need it. Also, I agree with above poster, might as well just replace Camera with MIUI camera. Much, much better.

It is missing all of the sense stuff that I love.
A clock/weather widget that works like Sense (location changes as you do and does not have to be set.)
Better MMS (Bubble type/conversation)
Better Email client (I've tried all the others, I like something that integrates with the calendar and contacts better)
Sense 3.0 based devices all have this....which is why I keep coming back to it.
While I know there are apps/launchers that do some of this, the reason Sense is my choice is because it does all of this out of the box without apps.
I do like Launcher Pro's people widget and calendar widget set to agenda....that's the reason I bought it over sticking with ADW which I know DT likes!
Android Pro Widgets IMO kill the sense Widgets... they are sweet. I aftereffects, the Cam is lack luster... but I am working with the time I have to port the Sense Cam.

Battery life.
I just deal with it. Cm7 1.5.2 had great battery life everything since 1.6 and the recent 1.7 is pretty bad for me. Like maybe 4 hours of usage. I can get about 18 hours a battery with absolutely no usage. I loose Bout 50% over night.

My favorite thing about it is the customization and overall UI.
I wish the ringtone, vibration, and camcorder was fixed. ]:
Right now I'm on the latest sweet child of mine. It's very fast and smooth. Haven't had any reboots so far and I've been on it since it came out. Like the red theme a lot and have had a really good signal. Still testing battery but so far so good!

MIUI was my favorite, but the lack of foursquare makes it a deal-breaker for day-to-day. Currently on ICNB; it's rock-ish, like those Chevy Truck commercials.

Valhalla Black. Solid. Waiting for miui
I use my slightly modified valhalla black.
I added /etc/profile with some command line aliases since I use the CLI a lot more than I used to now.
Updated superuser and some other files, my own bootanimation, my own init.d files and a few apps added on install and some more debloating of apps I don't use. It's still 99% VB though.
My favorite thing about it is the stability. Raver did some fine work with that ROM in addition to the work Whitehawk did.
Was on VB for a long time. Then MIUI for over a month. Now using erikmm's Sweet Child Of Mine. What I like about this one is he's pulled a lot from MIUI and put it in this. Check it out and see. Plus the name is just bad ass.
MIUI. I never have to answer the phone immediately, and I always had my phone on silent anyway. Everything else is the ****.
I'm on the latest version of Sweet Child Of Mine and loving it!! I love MIUI but I need to have the ringtone work. I like the MIUI features that are incorporated into the Sweet Child Of Mine ROM.
VB....solid
you know the trick to getting ringtones to work on miui load the mp3 player then hit home so it stays resident in memory ur phone will ring ;P

I have sort of started working on my first real rom and was curious what yo all would like to see. I am thinking that I will base a lot of it off of some of our current stuff like Lithium, SCv5/6 when it comes out, and sonya. (with developer permission of course.) I really like the white on black theme in Lithium. I will also debloat, and remove Motorola stuff. I will probably remove a lot of the stock apps like messaging and browser and replace them with aosp or other equivalents.
What else would you guys like to see, especially if it is not really in any of our current roms. Please don't post something that is only relevant to you, make sure it is something that would be a benefit to others too. (I will consider languages, as long as more than like, 2 people actually speak it. I have seen demand for italian and russian.)
thanks for your input on this.
P.S. also taking ideas for names from those creative people among us.
Well, since you're asking... and this may be beyond the realm of the state of current affairs; I'd LOVE to see a theme changer in a ROM. That way the basics could be laid and the user would have the ability to do what we all love to do with Android. Customize!
The End.

Different style lockscreens would be nice and I'm a +1 on the XDA app already being installed too!
Toggle dropdown, 1% batt
Scrolling in Settings and in listview is smoother, like Samsung SII's ROM
Current stock theme is the best, no need to modify, or stock ICS theme is ok

maybe, I have an uninstaller zip and you can always get the installer from the main thread here on xda, its not device specific. So really all you have to do is flash those to turn it on and off.
+1 for KEB64's built in theme engine suggestion, maybe something like CM7's TMO theme engine.
