Is it ok to remove the oldest Clockwork recovery backups on SD card?
I have 5 that takes up more that 4 Gb....
Yes you can!.
I keep my backups in my computer.

Hi,
How are you doing?
Please check my signature and take a look at the new 4 EXT.
It's an updated version of CWM,and it looks and works great.
It will backup your ROMS and name them ,so that you know which one is which.
It will work with CWM backups.
Presumably, you would only need to keep your latest backup, unless you are keeping any for posterity.
Anyway,good luck.
Thanks, i will remove and move them ASAP. Bought a 16 gb, now i want a 32. I never thought I would have need for 32.
Btw, just to be sure: the name of the folder is clockworkmod/backup right?

Must say 4 EXT looks interesting
Does this replace old Recovery 1.3?
If so, how to change for this when already having a working system?
I'm a bit scared to destroy anything now, everything works fine. But when i flash a new ROM next time maybe i will use this instead...

Hi,
I bought this app.
Very cheap.
I just installed it.
It's the same as CWM.You can install it at any time.
Does not have to be with a new ROM.
In fact ,you should install it before you install a new ROM.
You will then find out how easy it is to use to install ROMS ,mods, kernels, anything.

Hi,
My HD2 is gathering dust in a corner somewhere.
I saw that you had a Sensation in your sig,so I was only talking about that.
Recovery apps for the Sensation will not work on the HD .
Everyone is a noob until they learn more...
I knew nothing about this phone until I started using it.
I'm sure it won't take you long to get up to speed on the Sensation.

Sorry, this is why i was calling my self a bit noobish I was talking about Sensation and asking about my old HD2 recovery software. Just a mixup.
BUT on the other hand i'm using my HD2 for WP7 testing so i got something out of this mixup.
SO, now on to the question i should have asked, does this replace the Revolutionary recovery on my Sensation?

Ugh thank you was sweating bullets for a minute
Im guessing thats not the right way to remove ATT stock apps? lol I been browsing forums but can find nothing for HTC Inspire 4G
If your not to sure what you should or shouldn't delete, then the best thing for you would be to just flash a stock rooted rom. Like clearD, tcp, or dilligaf.
Titanium backup is the right way. Why don't you try twopumpchump optimized stock Rom in the development section. We're very helpful over there and will walk you through it. You can flash a ROM that already has the bloat removed.

I was attempting to remove the blockbuster app lol
Im kinda nervous to flash roms, I spent 3 hours last night reading/prepping myself for the root, was so nervous of a brick (btw new android user came from iphone) I have a buddy who had a nexus he bricked trying to flash the cryageon rom which is a well trusted rom. Just really scared >.>
Plus will flashing a rom remove contacts ect?
It's not as hard as you think. Take your time though. Best to do your research. Check out the Rom I suggested though and drop in if you have any questions.

As long as you have them saved on your sim no. Personal data yes. Apps not if you back them up. Make a nandroid back up before flashing. All you have to do is download the rom, place it on your sd card. Then boot into recovery install zip from sd card, choose zip from sd card, pick the rom select yes. You just flashed a rom.. As far as I know no one has completely bricked their inspire, even the people who have had corrupted boot loaders have been able to recover.

You will need clock work mod. Just open the app and select backup current rom. It will save everything as it is now so you can return to it later if you need to.

Honestly, I haven't had a chance to sit down at my desktop and try and mess around with it, college has taken up a lot of my time. I will say its a lot more complex then people think it is. It makes me really appreciate the people who bake roms and make themes.
I will probably sit down this weekend try tweeking a few things, and hopefully get it to work with out boot looping. Makes me wish some one lived around here that could teach me a few things I am a visual learner. I will get one working though .

Hi there,
I want to have a modded Unlock Ring for my Girlfriend's HTC Sensation and I tried to do it for her, but I always fail.
I used this Tutorial:
EDIT: I'm sorry, but as I'm new to the xda forum's I'm not allowed to post Links -.-
You can find the Video on Youtube, Search for: "jmaher1023" he has uploaded only 1 Video
Sorry for the inconvenience..
But it always stay's the normal Unlock Ring, but with the difference, that it adds the Picture when I drag an Icon into the Ring.
Now I wanted to ask one of you guys if you could do this for me with the Picture I included.
That would be awesome!!
Thank you

That's Ok, I just found out what the problem was... I did it right, from the Beginning.. BUT I had the AmazingSense by CypiS and it seems to have like an overlay or something on the Lockscreen, which is the Reason why my Ring only got shown, when an Icon got dragged in.
Is there a possibility to override that? Because I love the AmazingSense Theme...

I retried it myself again, and it seems that it messed up the size again.. is it possible that the HTC Sensation needs a different Size of the .png?? Because also with the Splash Screen HTC has a different Solution than the others..
EDIT: I analysed a shared.m10 wich worked in the rom itself of CoreDroid.. (Leedroid was laggy as hell!!) and it also has an Image size of 270x271, maybe I'm just doing it wrong.. :S
Yeah it needs a different size, I am having the same issue as you with the size being out.

1 Thing you can do, without loosing your data and set up everything again, (which in my opinion sucks) is:
In Recovery Mode:
Backup and Restore -> Advanced Restore -> (Choose your Backup you've made) -> Restore /system
2. The other thing you can try is to directly flash a new one.. I've updated the whole Kit now, to work with the HTC Sensation.. I'll post it, after I finished testing..

Actually had a hard time figuring it out
If you want to know how I managed to create a new Kit:
I had to pull 2 Files from my HTC.. fusion.apk and Idlescreen_Base.apk both found in /system/app..
Then I had to Extract the different Skins.. (BlueSky, Burgundy, Default) and the Lock Ring Motion.. I decompiled all .m10 files using the m10decoder found in the M10 Tools Folder given.. I then edited some files etc. searching for new Names etc. etc. and that was about it..
If you just want to create your own:
Wait a Moment so I can create a Tutorial for everyone..
I'm going to Post it soon..
Just give me a minute

ill just restore the whole back up before i rooted i guess and reroot again and then flash this but thanks anyway
Hey , I'm new here so ill say hi too. Anyways , a week ago I got a Desire S for my birthday and before i had an ipod touch. I know that jailbreaking an ios device is easy and if you mess up you simply restore. What about an android device? What are the risks of rootibg and can you restore itback to its original state for warranty purposes? Are the roms there any roms available for daily use? ( 3.2.5, sense 3.5 , ice cream sandwich? ) Thanks in advance
Oh and, if ill decide to root what should I do / save to uunroot?
Android's are usually quite easy to restore. Just download the RUU thingy, available on this forum.
this thread is really good
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1146601
just give a good read through all the threads in the guide section.
I've found that it's not easy to brick an android device or mess something up. All you need is a backup of your rom (which you'll understand after reading the guides) and you should be safe.
Well all I need to do is save my ROM? How do I do that?
Also what are kernels and radios and hboots? completely newbie to this..

Well I couldn't really find anything about kernels and radios, and to backup my ROM I need a rooted device? What if its too late? How can I know if I have a faulty chip?I don't want to wreck my device...
Well there's not much you can do if your chip is faulty, but you can do things to stop your phone breaking.
Never pull the battery out is a key one. If you have to, try pressing volume up + down and the power button at the same time. There are also other things you should do. Ben Pyett is great with helping about the eMMC problem
The radio and hboot is something you shouldn't worry about. I've never bothered messing around with them and you really don't need to.
Kernels are flashed in the same way as ROMs. Through clockworkmod recovery or 4ext recovery. Whichever you want. All you have to do is choose the right one for the ROM you're flashing ie a sense kernel for a sense rom. In the desire s section you'll find 3 sense kernels and 1 aosp kernel. AOSP are ROMs like cyanogenmod which don't have any GUIs like sense. With two of the kernels ( Hyperion and Endymion) you must choose the right version of sense. Hyperion is for sense 3.0 and Endymion is for sense 3.5 and the unity kernel can be used for any version of sense.
Making a backup is easy. All you have to do is go into recovery and select the backup and restore option and choose backup. You must do this before flashing a custom ROM because if the install fails you'll have something to fall back on.
I've tried my best but if you still have more questions then ask.

Always make a nandroid backup, it just means if anything goes wrong you should be able to restore your phone to it's exact previous state.

Yep, the free version of titanium only allows one by one backup, but if you get the full version it can do multiple backups in one go
4ext recovery control is a paid app too, but I cannot stress how worth it it is!

Also , my dad really liked the 3.5 update so I tried doing the same on his Desire and well when its reaches "zerging root" it says that it failed with a sad smiley..
Could it be because he has a update available but won't install it? ( As its impossible for him because at the end of the New firmware download it says damaged file or something.. )

Er can anyone send me Swype.apk and libSwypeCore.so? Wanna install swype..
Also , my dad really liked the 3.5 update so I tried doing the same on his Desire and well when its reaches "zerging root" it says that it failed with a sad smiley..
Could it be because he has a update available but won't install it? ( As its impossible for him because at the end of the New firmware download it says damaged file or something.. )

Hi
I if you use sense 3.5, swype is already built in. Go to the keyboard settings and turn htc trace on.
Swype away!
However if you want full swype, its a beta, I recommend just signing up on their website to get the apk, its free
Not to sure about your dads desire, best bet is to ask the desire forum
Hope it helps...

Sadly I can't find swype under keyboard and language.. using same Rom as you I think ( mine is 3.0 I think.. not sure.)
I'll ask in the desire forum about my dads desire , thanks.

there's the swype installer, that's what you need to install swype, but i think you still have to sign up. Might be wrong though.
Is it possible to dual-boot ROMs on the Sensation?
I wouldn't be asking this if I understood more about the Sensation's and Android's framework but why not try right?
Anyone heard of such a thing?
That would be radical!
It would certainly be cool! I'll give you that!
Sort of like how my PC stops after the bios screen and asks me if I want to boot into XP or Linux.
I'd think you'd need a modified bootloader to pull it off though. Something that could recognize 2 ROMs being available.
And the way Android runs, I think you'd absolutely need a partitioned internal storage so the files for 1 couldn't interfere with the files of another.

on my old HD2/Leo, the way they did it is a modified bootloader (Mag/CLK) and installing the rom to SD card.. you could theoretically boot as many roms as you wanted (ie have Gingerbread, ICS, WM6.5, and WM7 Mango on the same phone)
Yes, you can dual boot on Sensation.
There is an app called Boot manager.that supports the sensation and it let's you boot, not only 2 ROM but up to 4!
Downside? Is not free, but it's not expensive either.

Sounds dumb .. but you can boot a bunch of roms ..
Just install the rom .. make a CWM Backup or a 4ext Backup
Then you can switch between roms like hats and in just a few minutes
I have 6-8 different roms that I play with ..
Will this work on the Samsung exhibit ii

Yeah but it's still somewhat different from turning on your phone and being able to pick what ROM you want to boot, instead of having to wait to restore from backup.
that's all good but notice that it doesn't support ics yet. Only reason I didn't get it.

Now that we have an unlocked bootloader and working recovery, has anyone successfully ported any of the roms from the international htc one x (tegra 3)? Feel free to post which rom you used and how it worked out for you.
DO NOT TRY AND FLASH THE BOOT.IMG FROM THE INTERNATIONAL HTC ONE X ROM. MAY RESULT IN SOFTBRICK
wrong section buddy
Yeah and I know no one is gonna read the general q&a. Besides we are all wanting immediate rom goodness

I just tried Insert coin rom but it fails to install due to do mismatch in model id. I guess you could edit your build.prop to endeavor but I haven't tried it yet. I'm reading it and it says has anyone flashed, not ported. Lol
lol just make a backup in cwm. worst case scenario you have to restore like I did. Won't hurt to try.

People read Q&A all the time. This is no reason to ignore the rules and clog up Development with random questions.
^^^^ you act like someone stole your cookie. stop crying like a baby about simple misplaced thread
So now i have an unlocked bootloader and i have CWM installed. If i were to use a RUU, the clean rom DE, would it remove CWM and put the stock one back on? Or would it leave CWM intact?

wait a day for a few roms. They're already out there, they just need to edit them a tad.

When you start calling people names, you are the one that appears immature and childish, no matter how correct you may be.
The problem is, though, you are not correct. Maybe it only appears as a "simple" mistake to you, probably because you don't care or haven't spent enough time in the forums, but for people who frequent XDA then it has become a cumulative nuisance.
Also, when the majority of users responding in the thread you started is either questioning the logic of your statement or placement of the thread then maybe you need to reflect on what you were trying to accomplish and maybe take into consideration how you can achieve better results in the future. Long story short, try to learn from your mistakes.
Okay, so, International One x won't be compatible because of hardware differences, but what about the One S roms? I just tried flashing the CM9 port for the S, and it flashed successfully but upon reboot the screen was just filled with green graphical glitches. Rebooting back into recovery and attempting to restore my backup of the stock system didn't work at all, so RUU for me... but, why wouldn't a One S ROM work? It has 99% of the same hardware... besides the qHD screen. I remember being able to flash a Droid 3 ROM to my bootloader-locked Atrix 2 and it booting up just fine. What's different here?

LTE radio for one. Probably some other minor differences too.
