I am about to flash a rom from SamFirmware with Odin to my Rooted Galaxy Xcover. Otherwise, everything else is clear but I need to now one thing:
Can I flash a ROM to the phone with Odin and keep my rooting and sd card partition?
Thanks for quick your replies!

You need Odin
The Firmware vom Sammobile
turn your device in download mode (usually power and volume down)
connect via usb, turn on odin
select firmware and hit start
thats all. your root and your data will be lost. so do a backup before

YES!! i went step by step and when i flashed the file you gave me it stayed at the samsung screen .. it seems it does that if i flash anything at all form CWM
Your problem is most likely an outdated version of CWM. Update to version 3.0.1.0 via ROM Manager.
NOW THIS IS BAD..!
BY THE WAY I FOUND MANY PEOPLE HAVING PROBLEMS with CWM..
use modified recovery.img from drellisdee..
link:-> http://www.mediafire.com/file/uf752h...-1.1.0.img.zip
now this problem is complicated!
CAN U GO BACK TO STOCK?
THEN I WILL TELL U HOW TO INSTALL THE ABOVE AND U CAN GIVE IT A SHOT!
I am at stock i flash stock through Odin and it gets unbricked then i re root a recover my Rom
listen dont worry..
if u have adb shell installed in ur pc then fine..
else this will be an additional burden 4 u..
now b patient and read this 1st..
http://lgoptimusonep500.blogspot.com/2011/01/installing-custom-recovery-on-lg.html
install this recovery... then repeat the steps i told u..
(ALL THE ABOVE SHOULD B DONE AFTER REVERTING BACK TO STOCK ROM)
I dont have abd shell Where can i download it

anywz i gotta go!
its 4am here in india..
any problems u post it here.. i wil catch up wit u later..
I DID IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! aaaaaannndd it still doesn't work man this is crap
I Figured something out its when ever i try to flash something with EXT4 is when it bricks?? it that helpful in any way
well the info u gave me may b helpful because some custom roms do not support EXT4..
so i would advice to double check if rom supports ext4 or not?
LEFT WITH ONLY 3 THINGS NOW
1. post in the developers section and ask him
2. try using another rom
3. dont do ext 4.. jus partition sd, sd ext repair, ext2 to ext 3 (say 4 example the rom i am using right now doesnot support ext4!!)
do this and lemme know..
this guy is having the same problem using CWM.. talk with him if u can

[Q] Does Creed's Rom 1.7.2 support Adobe Flash Players ?

Hey,. I am a relatively new android user,..
I want adobe flash player on my Samsung Galaxy Fit
I first thought of flashing FitDroid,.. but many with DDKQ5 seem to have erors !
So,.. I thought of getting the better one,.. i mean Creed's ROM which is exclusively for my DDKQ5 !! (Hurrayy,...!!)
But i want to know the following (please reply to all questions !! )
1. Should i root the phone to install a custom rom ??
2. Can I install CWM without rooting ? (pls give DownLink)
2a) What and how to use ODIN ? (any forum ?)
3. Is CWM and Rom Manager Different ? (sorry for being so nooby !)
4. Does Creed's ROM support Adobe Flash Player,.. if so which version??
5. Where can i get the stable flash player for this rom ??
6. Will Google apps work in the custom ROM ?
I will thank all those who respond (thats the least i can do,... )
yes i think all roms support adobe flash players. To install see this
adobe flash flayer thread
yes u can install CWM without rooting just switch off your phone and press and hold middle+volume down+power button then you will be in download mode then use odin to install it
here is the link
cwm 5 by tj styles
CWM and rom manager does the same job.but our phone is not supported in rom manager and if u will use it u might will brick your phone so dont even think about using rom manager
regarding google apps, yes they work in custom roms
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1405672
but this says that u should give admin privileges to adobe flash player !
for that it is necessary that we root the device right ??
and can we follow the same steps to install CWM after rooting ?
Also,.. How can we root ?
You need to root the device because in order to install Flash Player you will need Root Explorer (Which requires root accsess). For root information try searching the forum..
You can use super one click to root,it the easiest way to root.

I suggest you don't use the ROM Manager in the market..
Coz many of GalFit users have been bricked their hh after installed it..
Just use the CWM by Tj style and then you can flash any other roms with it..
You have to use Odin to flash CWM to your yg..
Sent from my GT-S5670 using XDA App
In fact, I urge you NOT to use Rom manager in the market. I have hard-bricked mine with that !

Directly booting to recovery

I have a rooted S-7500, with CWM recovery 5.0.2.8 installed. I (by mistake) allowed the 'software update' option to install a system update(or something) today by mistake (I know, you should never install system updates after rooting. My bad.) Since then, the phone directly goes to the cwm recovery mode on powering on, and i am unable to do anything else
I am not very well versed with the finer details of rooting bootloader recovery n all...so pls some details with steps...if possible .
Any help whatsoever...please I will be really grateful

Thanks!!! It totally worked!
Just a clarification...now that i have got the stock rom back on my phone...am i right in saying that I have lost root access, my phone is totally back to the 'original' state, and i have lost CWM as well? Please correct me if I am wrong.
And assuming that I am correct(above), I would like to re-root my device(need to use proxydroid to surf internet over the damned proxy server!). So..can I follow the standard method, ie, can I do it the same way I had done before, or do i need to do something different now?
And once again...THANK YOU for your help! I had ended up hard bricking my previous phone, and was really scared when this happend to my aceP. You saved me!

connect device to pc in download mod (vol down + power + home) & select that (recovery) .md5 file in pda section inside ODIN software

Just 1 more qstn...is it necessary to apply a custom recovery before rooting? If no, is it recommended?? Because the last time i rooted, it made me put a custom recovery before rooting.

if you are going to stick on stock rom forever & only want to root device then stock recovery is ok for you...
but while dealing with custom roms, custom recoveries are smart choice.
it has lot of additional options than stock recovery.
so my opinion yes use custom recovery
Stuck in boot loop
Got stuck in boot loop after performing the steps. I was running this ROM.
Had to reinstall the ROM. I'm sure there's something I didn't understand or something I did wrong. I'd be thankful if anyone could point it out.
Thanks in advance.

Hi there!
Yes, you can get your device back to Stock ROM which came with your device. You can download a Stock ROM to your PC and then Flash it to your device using SP Flash Tool. Remember flashing using SP tool will delete all your data on your phone except the media files on your SD Card.
Let me know if you need help on steps to flash your phone back to original Stock ROM.
Easiest way to get it back is to visit service center and get it done on chargeable basis.

[Guide][Receive OTA after root][keep apps/data][GT-I9500][5.0.1]

a lot of users are having this problem and if you want to receive an OTA you have to flash the stock unrooted firmware that will cause lose of data.
this guide will show you how to receive OTA again without losing your stuff
This works on GT-I9500 ONLY! (Lollipop 5.0.1 Recovery)
This also should work on any other model, but you have to replace the recovery with your model!
Steps:
1- Go to SuperSU and scroll down to "Full unroot" then reboot.
2- Download This file to PC and extract it.
3- Go to download mode by pressing the power key + home key + volume down key at the same time, then press volume up.
4- Flash the file via Odin (AP) or (PDA)
go to check the system status, you will find it Official
you can now receive OTA.
Q&A:
What is OTA (Over The Air)? Its an update which you can receive over wifi or mobile data.
What do i get from OTA? Well, if you root your device you wont be able to receive an update again, unless from flashing firmware via Odin.
- Why im still on custom status? Because you modified your system.
- What kind of modifying? Installing busybox, editing or deleting or changing any app or file system.
and some times xposed.
- How do i restore the old app? You can restore them by flashing firmware or by restoring Nandroid backup.
- Then what is the use of your guide? Well my guide helps in first place the rooted not the modded onces.
and always do Nandroid of the original system apps+data
you are still having your apps, data, pics, vids, etc...
you can root again at anytime.
check my thread for rooting if you want
im not responsible for any bricks
thank you...

At some point the update maybe canceled, because the update checks for the apps before the installation, always do a backup of your phone then remove what you want, after you want to update just restore the system folder from the backup
