Update patch U.S 3g xoom - Xoom Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have done some searching and have not found anything regarding the new ota update patch for rooted xooms. I have recently received notice of a new update but when I choose to update my xoom reboots and fails. My guess is it failes because I'm rooted, is there a update patch anywhere?

If you're talking about FRF50 release then you will never receive this OTA as it's a test build - destined only for test devices. However, you can download it and apply it manually if you look in the Nexus One category.
When the official version is released for public wide OTA distribution then you can get it that way.
Why are you waiting for it to come OTA when you can get it now?
Thanks for your reply. I apologise for the confusion. I wanted to check if people received the Froyo update directly from Google on their mobile phones rather manual update.
but guys ?
does this (Over The Air update) will appear automaticly and show me that there is an 2.2 update ???
or i should go manully to somewhere in setting and see ???
and can we download it directly to our phone using wifi or data plan ?
Already got my Froyo in Romania. Hope you get it too. BTW I think it has to be SIMlock free to get the update.
updated my desire tonight seems to work fine on the un branded phone. However having some problems with data connection now :-S
been searching day and night for the OTA update as well....but now i will check the nexus one part...is the froyo update rooted yet?...
thanks

Unless I'm mistaken, I think you just got pushed the HSUPA update. This part of the file name, "1_84_502_11", matches my firmware number after the HSUPA update. I don't know what number was on the firmware before the update, but my firmware is 1.84.502.11 after said update. From what I remember, the file name is exactly the one I got when I checked for it after the update was officially released last month.
EDIT: Unless of course, I'm wrong, and that's a totally new firmware update. Though I haven't seen any info on any new firmware updates for us since HSUPA.

I got the push on this via wifi yesterday afternoon also. I was assuming that this was the update that would enable installation of non market apps but I was wrong. Anyone have any additional information on this OTA update?
Personally, I do not think this is a recent update as I have been running custom roms since I bought the device but had to revert back to stock because of a warranty issue that will require me sending the device back. I think it is an update that was missed in the timeframe from February launch up until about 3 days ago.

I just referenced those numbers to mine and it IS the HSUPA update. It wasn't released till late April, so it hasn't been out that long. I just don't know if you should install it. If your sending it back, and since you reverted back to stock, maybe you should try installing it.

I was at wendys today, used their wifi to check for the update and sure enough it was this same one. D/l'ed it and installed. My speeds went from 200kb/s to 500kb/s. That was just one test though
I just hope this doesnt effect rooting it in the future as i plan to do so.
Just got the Inspire for my wife today. Saw this update as well. She doesn't want me to root or flash anything yet. Wondering if it's ok to run this update without it affecting the ability to root and flash anything later.
TIA

[Q]Just got a Nexus S

Just got a Nexus S for school and from what I can tell there is supposed to be an ICS OTA update but its not finding it.
It's currently on 2.3.6 and it doesn't have a SIM (University property, I only get to use it for development) so I'm only on wifi. Does anyone know why it won't update to ICS? I don't want to download the .zip because there are about 10 other people who are in the class and I don't want to try to explain to them how to update.
Its not official out yet as far as I'm aware (I have a nexus s 4g though and am not to sure about the other models...) Have you tried settings/about phone/system update!

Yeah. It says its up to date on 2.3.6. I just thought that ICS was official.
google hasn't pushed the ics update for i9020A
The ICS update for the NEXUS S has been slated for sometime in MARCH. The OTA update is what I'm talking about. —KID ANDROID
Yea google is really slacking with the i9020a OTA... thank goodness for the xda-devs though the roms here are better anyways
According to the Google Announcment they had been halted the ICS update For the Nexus s . Firlst they said ICS update will be on 2011 December 16.But For Some Some reason They had halted the updating processes of the Nexus s
But Their Lot of Unofficial Custom roms If you want to taste the ICS You can try them
I think this will helpful for you
Thanks all. Does anyone know if the ota located here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1395828
is for i9020a and will it receive OTAs in the future?
i m using nexus s i9023 and i already got an update in decmbr..
cant say about i9020a.
If you just bought your Nexus S then updating your handset with something other than the official ota update will void your warranty. I'd just wait till the update comes ota in MARCH which will be 4.0.5 I'm sure it will be worth the wait as I've heard they have fixed everything that was wrong and added a couple new things to it. We've waited this long, what's a couple more weeks. —KID ANDROID

Has anyone received the ATT 4.3 update yet?

Just wondering if anyone is is actuality receiving the OTA yet. Mine keeps saying its up to date at 4.2.2 I heard they halted the update because of a bug but I cant find much out there on the actual live roll out.
ATT California no update yet.
I had OTA downloaded it several times but it failed to install. I eventually downloaded the file posted in the mj9 to mj9 thread which was the same that came to me OTA. I pushed it from my sdcard.
So yes I am on it, but I assume there will be another OTA chance soon after some bugs are worked out.

New OTA Update for Samsung J7

Just a question... Did anyone get a OTA update from MetroPCS today (06-25-2017). If so, how is the update and should we update..

I received the update for T-Mobile. Not sure, if it's better than the previous update, so far don't see any improvement.

The update is mostly for security patches from what I can tell.
