Google Navigtion - choose destination - Galaxy Tab Themes and Apps

I am not sure but I think some previouse version of Google Navication had the option to choose the destination from the map. I dont see it now and wondering if it was ever there or if it disapeared from this version or just from my SGT.

My SGT has an app labeled "Navigation" maybe you can look for the app in the market, or have someone send it to you.

Thnanks mate! I have it as well but cant choose destination off the map. Only options are to:
* Type destination,
* Choose from contacts,
* Choose from starred places.
Sent off the Blue Marble using GT-P1000 on Overcome 7 v4 via XDA App

Long Press the destination on the map.
Then there will pop up a square with info on the place you pressed. Klick it an you get some options. Here you can chose navigate....
Sorry for my lousy English....

Thanks mate. Couldn find it before coz I kept looking for it in Navigation when obviously should have been looking in Maps.

Sent from my X10i using XDA App
Hi - I think if they are unique and useful then we'll need to post a description of what they do, otherwise you'd have to download it and try it out to see if it's something that you'd find useful....
For me - Data on demand - switches your mobile data connection off when you're screen is off, unless a background task calls for it.
and battery indicator - put's a little battery icon in your status bar which shows you how many % battery you have left.. much more useful than the vagaries of the std battery icon.
Hey above two are very common man
Ok let me tell u abt mine:

My first post!
Just to correct OP, MeContacts is not a smart dialer. It's an app that you can put different contacts in grid view. You can choose either to call or view contact when you tap on that particular contact. Also, speak and send is great, thanks OP.
I've been nerding and looking up for anything that can improve my X10. I'll name the ones that I don't think are very common. But ya, here goes my long list (in no particular order; i don't use all of these now, but they have been useful to me before)...
*1) QuickDesk Beta
- quick pop up menu where you can add apps/widgets and allows you to stay on your current application (for some reason the double tap doesn't work for me, but single tap works fine)
2) Last Call Widget
- a simple widget that lets you see your last call (can 1 click to call back the caller if it was a missed call)
3) Quick Settings (by Sergej Shafarenka)
- an app that lets you quickly set your WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS, etc. This is better than having a widget constantly running in the background
4) Quick Battery (by Sergej Shafarenka)
- nice looking battery widget
*5) Multicon Widget
- have 4 shortcuts (not widgets) in a normally 1 icon space (helps save a lot of space)
*6) Car Mode
- press on the icon, and phone all phone calls will be coming out of the speakers (NOT a bluetooth feature which connects to other BT devices)
7) Turtle Photoframe
- best (in my opinion) photoframe for pictures, not a lot of features or customization, but gets the job done I think
8) Unit converter (by Wopnersoft)
- really nice looking interface for a unit converter
9) Tajm
- presents the time and date in word format rather than numbers
*10) Shake - Uninstall
- enable the feature, and go into any application (does not work with widgets), then shake to uninstall the app
11) Blik Calendar Widget
- a 4x1 widget that shows your calendar schedule for about 8-10 days. Uses 1 of 500 built in pics to describe your activity for that day
*12) Home Switcher
- if you use a lot of different launchers and set 1 as a default, this will be very useful for you to toggle between the different launchers
*13) Market History Manager
- 1 click to delete the history in Market, very useful and straightforward
*14) ToDo List Widget
- easy to add, edit, and delete lists. very handle and simple to use.
Hope that list helps people! *phew* that took awhile to type it up =P
*starred ones are the ones I think are most useful.

Is this available on the Android Market?
Ghost Commander... A great Dual-pane file manager(like Norton Commander, FAR manager etc), making it very easy to copy and paste between folders in your SDcard, both panes are individually configurable and its the only file manager that i use...
Its a free download from android market
Note: if you've already used dual-pane file managers handling this is a breeze, but for first timers there is a small learning curve
Thanks ECBomb for sharing the names of those apps..will try n let u know

ehh, I have it now, but only 2 holes and then it is finished, it's the shortest trial ever! But the graphics and gameplay looks good. Only I have force closes almost everytime on my x10i....
And on topic again:
Smooth Calender widget for nice transparant text only appointments on your desktop, I use it in combination with Jorte (Calendar app). Both free on the market.

Maps and streetview

Do you guys have the 'warp' transition effect when moving, and street view man in the bottom left hand corner of the screen? (in maps application). Saw these features in a youtube clip, but don't have them on mine
Sent from my GT-P1000 using XDA App
Did you udpate the maps application from the market ? You also have to download Street View from the market, it's a different app.
Yeah, realised just after posting that was the problem. Cheers for the reply though.

Well you can use Google Maps. Here is what you have to do...
1. Go to Maps.
2. In Meniu, go to Settings.
3. There you will find Labs.
4. Go in Labs and scroll down to PreCache Map Area
5. Tap that and now you have it installed
6. Now go to a point in your map where the phone says you are and Tap for more Details
7. Scroll down and you will find a PreCache map area. Tap that and you are done!
This will download the map of a 10mi radius from where you selected the point.
That`s it!
Or use OsmAnd (OpenSourceMaps for Android)...

Google maps menu

Can somebody check Google maps app on their 7 plus to see if the menu works in the top left hand corner(see attached pic). It's not working for me like it does on my other tab. Just want to know if it's the same for anyone else..
Sent from my GT-P6200L using xda premium
Nothing happens when I tap that icon on my 7" tablet. On my phone (SGSII), that icon brings up a menu with options such as "clear map, places, layers, my places", etc
However, the same options are available on the 7+ via the menu icon on the upper RIGHT hand corner. (I think google just moved the options for the honeycomb devices)
Are those the options are you looking for?
Take care
Gary
OK thanks, yes that what I'm after. Some odd changes on Honeycomb that don't really make sense

[APK]SwiftKey Flow

Maybe this is the moment I was waiting for, a worthy replacement of Swype.
Talk later, work first, download the attached APK of SwiftKey Flow. And don't go away, come here, and comment, how you are liking it.
Download: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.touchtype.swiftkey
Download can be found at their website:
http://www.swiftkey.net/flow/
** Changelogs for latest version:
* Fixed crash on changing keyboards
* Fixed force close on clicking update language
* Fixed other crashes
* Resolved majority of non-English punctuation problems
* New look installer to match SwiftKey Flow colors and include an introduction to SwiftKey Flow
* Added Turkish layout
* Chrome Beta should now behave like Chrome
* Localised to new languages
* Snap and tap (correction of words) now compatible with Vietnamese
* Memory usage of settings app reduced
* Improved handling of non-zero length selection in Chrome and Samsung mail client
* Fixed jumping cursor in ExDialer and Samsung calculator
* Microphone key disabled in fields that don't support voice input
* Fix for keyboard disappearing when phone build installed on tablet sized devices
* Disabled predictions in Kingsoft Office and UC browser to make SK usable in them
* Double space for period turned off by default to prevent accidental period insertion when flowing
* Replaced 'learnt' with 'learned' in personalization page (US English)
* Turned off slide down from candidates bar to close keyboard when flow is on (to be consistent with the description in the Settings menu)
**Known Issues:**
* Crash when looking at the heatmap if you visit immediately after using the alternative symbols layout
* Comma key on Arabic keyboard inserts western comma
* Blank predictions on switching between languages
* Flowing words still sometimes results in surprising capitalisations
* No SD card ribbon looks bad on low end devices

-- Views on latest version: You can now Flow everywhere, except S Note app. Also you've to hit backspace when a prediction goes wrong, which is time wasting IMO. There is no more option of rapid or precise typing. Otherwise it's good.
♦ HOW TO SAVE CUSTOM WORDS:
Type the word manually. Tap and select it. Close the keyboard by pressing the back button, I am not talking about backspace. Pull the keyboard up. It is learnt or saved.
♦♦ If you have a bug to report, then please go to this link and report it,

The official page offers download for tablets also! Ty it out! I'll be trying it in a few mins!

Yes, they just need to sort out the bugs and it definitely will be a worthy replacement of Swype. Because it'll be Swype plus SwiftKey's prediction.
For now, back to Swype.

Swype is bloated crapware now (ConnectClient eats up ram and bandwidth constantly in the background with no way to turn the service off). Hell even the Android 4.2 keyboard is a worthy replacement for it!
Really like SwiftKey flow even still beta. Swiping makes easier to type

super!
Swiftkey is a small, low memory and skins. Super for lowend devices. :good:

Sent from my GT-I9100G using Tapatalk 2
It needs work when it comes to correcting words. For example:
It Ness work when it comes to correcting words.
SwiftKey offers no correction for "Ness" to "needs". But if I try to go back and correct a word, the suggestions change depending on where the cursor is. More examples, based on "cursor" and the cursor placement and what happens if I correct the word.
C|ursor > center "console ursor"
Cu|rsor > cup "current rsor"
Cur|sor > cut "cut sor"
Curs|or > cuts "cuts or"
Curso|r > Curse "curse r"
Cursor| > chapter "chapter"
Double tapping the word does help, but imo, this is a slow and inferior correction method. Also, this method will give a completely wrong word if you choose to swipe a new word over the highlighted word, as most people would do if all three suggestions are wrong.
Wrong > wrongdoing (wrong highlighted and wrong swiped again)
Pepper > (erases word ) (pepper highlighted and swiped again.
And finally, you cannot tap out a word, then swipe the next without selecting the word from the suggestions or hitting the space bar.
Sent from my HTCEVODesign4G using Tapatalk 2
LOL
For " it's ", just swipe it's (and not its) and it rocks!
Tested with french and english languages and it's nearly perfect.
See you
Franky
