Somehow when i plug my phone in... with it off... at night.... in the morning it shows a low battery alert.
This just started after I changed my rom to undead's Senseless.
I do notice that the new Anker battrey is a smidge thinker that stock.
Any clues?

This is a recovery image issue. If you do this with the OEM battery it'll do the same thing. Your best bet is to turn on airplane mode and turn the screen off.

Airplane mode? Ok I'll try it.
What does airplane mode do anyway?
Airplane mode cuts off wireless communications.
Not sure if it prevents 911/emergency calls, but i'd imagine so.

It just started a couple of days ago...
I'll turn off the phone (fast boot is disabled) at night.
In the morning when I go to turn it on, it won't turn on. I have to do a batt pull and then it will turn on. I keep it plugged in at night and I notice that it isn't charged, as if it wasn't plugged in.
When I plug it in when the phone is powered on, it does charge the battery.
Anyone else experiencing this? Thanks.
I am curious why you turn your phone off every night. But beside the point if the battery is drained heavily sometimes it won't charge when the phone is completely off. What i would try is leaving the fastboot ON and trying then because then the phone wouldn't be completely off also charging the phone completely before you go to bed or just leave it on while plugged in. With today's technology you really aren't hurting the phone or battery.
Well for starters what custom recovery are you using and if your not using 4ext custom recovery then you should be and yes this will solve the problem your having

The OP is a year old guys...
Yesterday at night, my phone had about 86% battery left when I went to sleep. Today I wake up and I go to press the lock button to try to wake my phone up and it doesn't turn on. I thought it had shut itself off like many G2x are known to do, so I did a battery pull and tried to turn it on. It still wouldn't turn on.
I connected the battery charger to my phone and turned it on that way. When it turned on, the battery icon was empty and it was showing a "?" mark inside of it.
It stayed like that for about 5 minutes, then the battery started charging again, but it said it had 1% left.
What could have caused this?
The only app that was running was Juice Defender and it's setup to turn off wifi and all data connection from 12am to 8am.

Were you in a bad signal area? I noticed considerable drain before in the basement. Had to do with signals, was constantly searching for a better/stronger signal.
Are you using a ROM? Are you rooted if not? If rooted download a battery calibration app, charge to 100%, use the app, unplug phone and use till dead. Batterystats.ini may have bogus values in it and that's showing false info. That process should correct it.
I use cm7 nightly 151 with faux's oc/uv 0.4.2 kernel and sometimes I get the battery icon with ? in it, corrects itself once it detects properly.

Yeah I'm running CM7 154 I'll try that if it happens again. I charged to 100% and reset battery info in CWM Recovery.

That's most likely why. In places where I get 1 bar my battery tends to die very fast even with the screen off. So I pop it in airplane mode when I'm sleeping or know I'll be busy for a while.

No need if you have wifi available. just turn on wifi calling and you wont notice much of a battery drain with a bad signal, so people will still be able to contact you via call or text

True that would work for the OP.
Unfortunately wifi calling is not available for me

+1 on this,
This happened to me on 2 phones, my friend have over 40% and he found dead, after 15mins in his pocket, same with mine, I thought my phone locked up, tried to reset and pull battery, didn't not help, found out 0% when lug in charge. Most of the times, after flashing a new rom, battery showing choppy stats.
So often, before I go to bed, I would charge up the phone completely and turn it off. 8 hours later, I turn it on, and the battery is at 70~80 ish.
Yesterday however, I just put the phone on airplane mode without turning it off, thinking it might make a difference. I woke up and the battery was 99%.
WTF?

Because when you turn on airplane mode, you turn off radio, wifi, etc about signal and data. It is about 50-70% power consumption. Consequently, when data is cut off, apps that needs to update via data, either wifi or mobile, won't update. That is another less stress on the battery. So on and so forth.

Well that's weird cause I put my phone on sleep last night without airplane mode and with 3g on, and it went from 90% to 87% by 7am. Maybe it has to do with low signal? I know when I have low signal my battery drops SUPER fast.

yes it is a factor. Same issue i have, low signal at home.

You totally failed to understand my problem. I'm saying airplane mode with phone ON consumes LESS battery than turning the phone completely OFF

I completely misunderstood your problem. Hmmm, in THAT case only thing I can think of is the phone not being shutdown properly. Aka the phone got stuck in a low level state with the screen off/unresponsive but maybe the phone was still processing network information. Then when you turned it on, you shut it off and turned it back on without really noticing.
That, or the FBI has been tracking you in the night.
We still didn't answer his question! Its weird that the battery is getting drained with the phone completely off.

How about telling us also what rom/kernel you are using?
Sent from my Calculator with Android.
I had an issue with my phone charging, it would take about 18 hours to charge the battery completely. Turned out the cord had gotten screwed up somehow. Also if you're using a USB extention cable, if you use more than one it will do something similar.
Charge your phone, turn it off, remove the battery and check if it still looses power.. so we will know if it s a battery problem or phone drainage problem
1. rom/kernel: cm 7.1.0.1, default cm7 kernel
2. update: second night with this Rom, and when i turned it off and on again 8 hrs later, it was 91%. Not bad.
3. I have charged full> powered down> removed battery> 8hrs later> insert battery & power ON, battery is full.
4. Computer USB charging takes probably over twice as long compared to using the outlet adapter.
I understand that phone goes into a low power state when it is turned "OFF", but really, what gives?

I have a feeling that the phone is not shutting off all the way. How about trying to shut down your phone, pull the battery, reinsert it, but DON'T turn your phone on and don't touch the power button at all, just reinsert it. Wait 8 hours, check it then.
My HTC Sensation when turned off for a few hours it became very hot, I was stunned by that as I didn't know my cpu is still running when my phone is switched off. Anyone know the problems?
That's unusual. I'm not sure but if you shut it down, I think it actually goes into a sleep mode. It sounds like yours isn't sleeping properly. Have you tried pulling the battery, restart and then try shut down again?
Are you using the standard battery?
did you make sure your gps is off?, i left mine on for an hour and my phone was scorching!

I have totally turned off the phone, pulled my battery out for about 5 mins, and put in back and let it rest for a few hours and when i touch my phone, it was quite hot even though i haven't turn my phone on.

So as you can see in the top of the screen shot my htc u11 went from 80% to 67% in 8 hours even though it was on standby with Wi-Fi turned off and on airplane mode and with also powersaving mode and hibernation manager.. I mean like what the hell.. Someonen tell me how this is possible. This is rhe worst standby i ever had on any phone
Btw my u11 is running the latest update

That's not battery usage...I know you're a newbie here, but you should know the basic battery information comes from phone settings.
Have u updated to 1.27? It fixes the standby drain. Used to have 60-70% drain overnight to 30+%

If you really want to determine which app drains your battery, a full charge is recommended.
Otherwise use Gsam and use adb to enable advanced mode, add a rule for "since now".

Wow 30% overnight? That doesn't sound right either...I probably lose 0.5%/hour on 1.13...my phone doesn't go into airplane mode over night either, I just turn off WiFi anr 4g...
Adi - given your countless threads of issues you've had so far, why haven't you returned the phone or gone to a help centre or something...it seems you have one problem after another...
I meant 30% of total stanby drain. Not 30% loss

If you're really serious about putting an HTC phone aside and bot touching it for several hours you should use the extreme power saving mode. It will still alert for calls. I come back after 12 hours to just a few percentage less.
That's why I sold my HTC U11, lost 5% an hour on cell standby, very poor battery life on this phone, the dongle stopped working and cracked the curved edge glass. Good camera though, and Iike HTC Sense. Bought a Moto Z Play, amazing battery life, easily 2 day battery life, has a headphone jack and a great Amoled display. Love this phone and nearly stock android.
