What is the best rom out their that has less bloatware nd is smooth nd everything works good and doesnt mess up I just neeed that rom can anyone help me I read and read nd I cant find it help please
Sent from my SGH-T959V using xda premium
If you want an almost stock ROM but with buttery smoothness tweaks, then I suggest ICBINB.
If you want extra features not included with stock roms, and smoothness tweaks and so on, then valhalla is for you.
If you dig music, I guess audiophile roms is what you should go for.

Is icbing from team acid good and is that valhanna our that rom is froyo?
Sent from my SGH-T959V using xda premium
I can't speak to gingerbread. But on Froyo if you want stock then go with ICBINB. For more customization I would susgest Audiophile Redux.
What tweaks do icbing have?

Considering that dsexton created most of the tweaks for this phone and he created icbinb ROM I would say all of them.

frames per second. Although, I guess I should mention that it was a joke.
No real issues with ICBINB, other than GB issues (like weak wifi signal).
I live my wifi and it says I might have to flash ext4 converter how do I do that?

I just did this yesterday and now I'm running Valhalla 1.3.2. It's a pretty cool ROM. I guess there's always a risk, but if you follow the steps it's pretty hard to mess anything up.
Is the gb good though?

The only thing that I miss from Froyo is the wifi signal. But besides that, GB is better.
If you don't feel confident enough to upgrade to GB then don't do it. Unless you really want to learn, it's easy to do it, hard to mess up, but only if you are aware of the risks involved and really need a gingerbread feature that froyo is lacking.
Other than that, froyo is a good ROM.
Another thing is that an official GB update might be coming soon, or that's what we're all hoping for. All these leaks over the last few months only mean that samsung team is working hard getting GB ready for this device.
Its hard for me idk what guide to even follow and I dnt even know half the crap.they are sayn u know .. I want gb cause it will make my phone smoother .. and fasteer and this frroyo laggs alot and it pissses me offf!

i think it's fairly simple.
1. backup your SD card, you will lose your data otherwise if you follow these steps.
2. Go to download mode
3. Get KG4 ROM from the development forums.
4. Connect the phone to the computer, use ODIN provided by the rom to flash it. (KG4 forum post should have instructions on how to do that).
5. After that, flash drhonk kg4 kernel, which gives you CWM (again, use odin, there should be instructions on the forum post).
6. Boot into CWM, go to advanced, partition your sd card, 1024 and swap 0. That gives your sd card 2 partitions, one for regular data, and another for ext4 backups, so you won't get problems with ext4 conversions. Also, get to main menu of CWM, go to voodoo, and disable it. For now. Reboot.
7. Now, at this point, you have GB and it should all be working fine. Now you just need to download the latest ROM you want to flash. I recommend either ICBINB or Valhalla 1.3.2. Put the ROM on your SD card.
8. Boot into CWM, go to install zip from sdcard, choose the zip file and let it install.
9. After that, make sure voodoo is still disabled, and reboot. Let the phone idle for a few minutes, while the new ROM gets settled.
10. After that, reboot into CWM again, enable voodoo. Reboot. You'll hear a robot (Linda) talking you through the ext4 voodoo lagfix conversion. All should go fine. If you get bootloops after that, just go into CWM again and disable it.
11. Why are you still reading these steps, that was all
You shouldn't have any problems with ext4 voodoo. If for some odd reason you do, then just disable it and ask someone in the forums. It's not the end of the world if you can't enable voodoo, it'll still be a damn good phone.
Good luck.
ICBINB KJ1 is the fastest smoothest ROM I've used, and the wifi issue everyone complains about really isn't an issue. Sure it shows weak signal, but there really isn't a difference in connection speed.
And any remaining bloatware is easy to get rid of with titanium backup.

Hey guys, just recently got a G2x coming from a MT4G.
I'm on the latest CM7 nightly and for some reason I'm having a big problem getting both of my SD card and internal memory to mount. I know I have the drivers installed as I had to do so to be able to root the phone.
I plus the phone into the comp via USB and my computer doesn't read anything.
Even when I go to the latest CWM recovery (5.0.2.6) and go to Advanced and mount my USB through there it still doesn't read it.
Any reason why this is doing this?
I mounted it fine when I was on stock ROM yesterday, but having no luck mounting it now.
Any response would be greatly appreciated!
Are you using the same USB cable? Same USB port as the one that worked yesterday?

I know fauxs aosp rom doesn't have this problem and I think it should mount both sdcards on recovery mount storage, not too sure if it will mount internal SD on latest nightly while phone is on with debugging.

Yea I hear ya, I hate how they partition these phones internal storage. Pretty much everyone that has or uses an android smartphone prefers to buy a much larger external microsd card, be it anywhere from 4-32gb. I'd rather they not partition storage and let us use that space for installing apps/games on internal then put our music or movies/media on external sdcard.
Plus issues like these where USB drivers wont detect the internal/external sdcards is very annoying and confusing when coming from a phone like we had.

I know there are a few of these threads in other device forums but I am posing this question to G2x owners only. What is the best ROM in your opinion for use on the G2x? I just rooted mine and have ClockworkMod 5.0.2.0 running with ROM Manager in place. Now it is time to play. A little background, I am a Red Hat instructor so any ROMs a linux nerd might find useful that play nice on the G2x hardware would be awesome.
I've used weapon g2x for a while and it was pretty good. Switched to cyanogenmod 7.2 and it's also pretty good. I've heard phoenixblood is also amazing.
I recommend you just jump in and try them.

Mileage varies with different people so the best way to pick a ROM is to try them yourself. Make sure you use Titanuim Backup to help keep your apps and data through the changes.

I never knew why people use RM. Just boot into CWM. RM can **** up at times. I've even seen it brick some people's phones. Also, the G2x uses a modded CWM. So using RM wouldn't be a good idea either way.
Sent from my LG-P999 using xda premium
I flashed my first ROM with ROM manager, and of course something went wrong, and the G2x wouldn't boot up. At the time, I thought I messed it all up and bricked my phone.
CWM is just a safer option. Even if the flash goes bad, you can still boot into CWM and do a nandroid restore, then it's like nothing happened in the first place. Plus after you've done it once, it's actually a really simple process to do, but now you have an added safety net.
Yupp use cwm much more stable and easier? I used rm and it soft bricked my phone. Managed to fix it tho with nvgflash

The recovery partition on Tegra 2 devices works very differently from the recovery partition on almost all other devices. Rom Manager works around this by simply installing it's own version of CWM on a portion of your system partition (I'm fairly certain that is where it places it, but I could be wrong). The Tegra architecture protects certain partitions from being written to while in anything other than recovery or NVFLASH. This prevents certain blobs from being flashed properly with RM. Also, some options can wipe the partition the RM flashed 'CWM' is on, completely removing your non NVFLASHED recovery. While it is extremely rare that this CWM could do permanent damage to the device, it's just generally safer and more consistent to use the 'real' CWM that you flash to the device with NVFLASH, as it is on the proper partition and separate from any partition that a ROM might attempt to format.
Makes sense. Goodbye Rom Manager. Thanks guys.

There are many type of information all over the internet about my situation. But some sound similar or different. I'm not a developer or good at things like this. I've successfully loaded roms into my phones in the past. I tried to load ics which I got from android central. I currently have EXT4. I did not do a backup on my older rom which is HDREVOLUTION. I simply went into boot loader, then recovery. Wipe cache/dalvik, wipe dalvik and wipe data/factory reset. Then I loaded my ics rom from the sd card. Now I am stuck on the HTC Boot screen for more than 10 minutes. All I can really do now is go on bootloadeer and EXT4,but thats about it. I even tried going on download mode which I think doesnt exist within this.
Before all this. I use acehack to root my phone. It already came in with all the necessary tools I need. I did not back up the stock rom. I just loaded the HDRev rom. Ive been waiting for months for a updated ICS rom,but so far camera is still not working properly, but I just wanted to see what it would do to benefit my phone just out of curiosity.
Now I am thinking about going back to flashing the rom update from bootloader using the stock Inpspire 4G rom,but will I able to take out my micro sd card, insert it into my laptop and put in leeroid rom then flash it using EXT4? Or do I have to go back to stock rom w/ root?
download another rom and put it on your sdcard. boot to recovery through bootloader, wipe and flash.

IceCold over at desireHD is the most solid ICS rom I found so far. Even here on inspire the three most solid so far that I consider are Melchizedek, AOSPX and Redemption. But try a few on for size and give them about a week each to really get the feel of them.

1. Factory
2. Cache partition

The DesireHD and the Inspire 4G are basically the same phone overall. So we can use its rom on our phone. Tho some custom roms in DesireHD may require flashing InspireMod.05 after install of rom. But I dont bother with the inspiremod cause I have not had any issues with the roms.

try switch back to Stock ROM,
there's no advantage using custom XDA rom when you still have the warranty, unless Samsung doesn't give firmware upgrade anymore

The sdcard might be corrupt, or it might be a problem with your tablet. Try putting it in a USB microSD reader. (they can be had for $2 online if you do some bargain hunting or $5 from radio shack--save yourself the angst of trying to mount USB storage and just buy one) It's also possible, though very unlikely, that it somehow got broken during some sort of hard reset or reboot, and you'll need a new one.)

must be caused by your custom ROM,
please note almost every custom rom in XDA is developed by inexperienced wannabe hackers (some devs even doesn't have decent coding skill), & they deploy the rom without extensive testing, & they also not responsible if your devices bricked! LOL
pidgin2012, try reformatting your external sdcard from CWM or PC.
Rotundjere, that's not entirely true. Devs will usually tell you how well a ROM works. For example, CM9 is labeled as an RC, meaning that they tested it and everything works. However, CM10 is labeled as a preview, meaning that some things may not work & you try it at your own risk. For the most part I have found custom ROM's to be more stable then their stock equivalents.

I'm not. I've used roms from various different devs and they have always been better than stock. All the devs I've dealt with use testers before mass releases and they are always up front about any bugs that may be in the rom. Frankly my phones stock rom had more bugs than the custom roms ive used. I've doubled my battery life, have more customization options, increased performance and have fixed some major bugs from the stock rom that never should have been allowed to leave the factory, and took 6 months for motorola to fix. Xda devs fixed it in 2. So tell me again how they don't know what they are doing
