[Q] Glaxy 7" Tab Updated OS - General Questions and Answers

I have a Samsung 7” tablet that was purchased from T-Mobile. I have contacted both Samsung and T-Mobile to try to get an updated OS for this device, but can not get anything from either one. I get pushed off from one to the other saying it is up to the other to provide a software update. There are other users on T-Mobiles site that have the same issue and anything I could find out I will gladly pass on to help them also. There are some features on the new OS that I and others would like to have installed. Can someone please help! I use this device for my business on a daily basis and any help would be greatly appreciated. The device information is listed below.
Samsung 7” Galaxy Tab
Model: SGH-T849
Firmware: 2.2
Kernel Version: 2.6.32.9 [email protected] #1
Build Number: FROYO.UVJJB
Carrier: T-Mobile
Can someone let me know the following questions:
1. What is the most current OS that can be installed on my tablet?
2. Where can I find the software and directions to install it?
3. Is there any known issues that need to be addressed after the software is installed.
4. Is there a modem driver that needs to be installed in order for the data package to work?
Thank you for your time and look forward to a reply.

[Q] Can YP-G70 device be renamed?

New person to the forums. Please feel free to move if in the wrong forum.
I have a Samsung Galaxy Player 5.0, US Model.
When I connect this to my wireless router, I saw that the device name is "unknown". Is there anyway to change it to a custom name? I'd like to name it something other than "unknown" so I can more easily identify it.
When looking through Samsung's settings menu on the device, I did not see anything. I also did not see anything in Samsung Kies. (It is possible I couldn't find a setting after a couple looks though.)
I recently rooted my device per SuperOneClick 2.3.3.
Thanks in advance.

What do I have? Flytouch 2?????

Hi,
I was wondering if someone could help me. I bought this tablet 2nd hand but did not know the make\model of it. After some research I discovered it looked identical to the Flytouch 2. However, there's no indication of any such thing when I look at device info. here is what it says: Model # P001:JUTWNIA; VERSION - 2.2V2.5#4325; KERNRL VERSION- 2.6.32.9 [email protected]#26; Build# FRF85B
Can someone shed some light on what tablet I actually have and if I can root\re-ROM it?
Thanks for your anticipated help.
Is it this one?

[Q] Need help updating Samsung galaxy s gt-i9000

Hi there!
I have been looking for a way to upgrade my girlfriend's phone to android 4.0 or higher.
However, I always end up with manuals/instructions with broken or missing links to valuable resources such as necessary files needed for the endeavor.
Here's what I found about the phone:
Model number GT-I9000
Firmware version 2.1-update1
Baseband version I9000XXJM1
Kernel version 2.6.29 [email protected] #2
Build number ECLAIR.XWJM7
I have no idea whether the phone is rooted or what. I don't know how to root.
Can someone point me out to the right instruction webpage or provide me with correct instructions?
Your help will be well appreciated.
Thanks!
Seems like nobody can help me..
I guess the device is waay too outdated for any updates then :\

Hi
Thanks for writing to us at XDA Assist. A quick search allowed me to find your device forum here:
LG G Pad 8.3
I'd suggest you take a look there to find out if it can be rooted. Keep in mind that unlocking the bootloader and rooting a device usually voids the warranty, so chances are it will also affect your ability to upgrade in the future. But to find out for sure the best thing to do would be to contact your carrier.
In future you can very easily find the correct section for your device by typing the name of the device into the "type to find device" search box at the very top of the website (please see attachment).
