Thanks for the up Jordan. Not digging the performance of this modem though . Download and upload speeds are definitely slower. Anybody else experience this?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I997 using XDA Premium App

I had ok speeds with this one but once again I have fallen back to UCKI3 which is the gold standard for cell signal as far as I'm concerned.

Yeah, it's definitely slower, but the speeds are a lot more constant in different areas.
I think KJ2 is better, but I'll try this modem out for a few more days to test it.

I have been getting 3-5 consistently when the others would usually go 1-3.

I'm getting 5Mbps download.

3.9 UP, a lot better then what I was getting before (1-2). Im in the SF bay area but why am I connecting to a server in Washington DC? The list doesnt show my local Palo Alto and San Jose.

I did a semi-scientific test with I3, J4, J2 and J1.
I placed my phone in three different spots around my house. A 2/3 bar location with poor speeds, a 3 bar location with great speeds and a 4 bar location with decent speeds.
I did these tests back to back to back. Placing the phone in the exact same location each time. I'd flash one modem & test three times in a row, flash the next & test, etc. Then move the phone to the second location and do the same thing over again, then at the third location.
My results are that J2 was absolutely horrid.
J4 was runner up best.
And surprisingly, UCKJ1 consistently gave the best download speeds at all three locations.

3rd place.
But 1st, 2nd & 3rd place were all fairly close.
J2 was the only semi sucky one.
I wrote down every test & speed. I may put it into an excel sheet if more than a few people ask.

Terrible 4G speed on GB leak

Anyone experiencing horribly slow 4G speeds? I did a speed test both online and through the app and no difference. I'm going to be going back to bamf soon if it doesn't get any better.

Yeah, it's pretty bad but it isn't the end of the world. My normal dl of 20mbs has fallen to 3-5mbs but my upload is still at 4mbs.
Eh I guess I got spoiled. I restored a backup because of the slow speeds.

So the radio is worse; not better?
Holding off myself.
Bamf rocks, But I'm sure they will work it in.
Sorry to hear about the wasted time you guys had to put in.
7-10 down, 2-4 up.
on GB leak
2.5 down when I'm usually dl' ing 15...tho when I go to dl stuff its def not sure slow at all
I guess if you are tethering it sucks, but I use my phone as a phone, 5mb is more than enough for me to whatever Want. what can you do on a phone with 15mb that you cant do with 4 or 5, seriously? I just tested mine on speakeasy.net and I got 7-9 down and 2-3 up.
Are you guys testing your speed using the speedtest app or with speedtest.net through your phone's browser? I know the app has some issues with accuracy.

I use speedtest app but I dont think the latest version has issues with accuracy. I usually get 15 down 5 up until I installed GB last night and all of my speedtests dropped down to 3 down and 3 up.

About the same for me. Tapatalk doesn't load as fast either. Love the gb features and the instant Gps lock but I'm a speed junkie.
Well this is weird, when I check the speed from the phone I average 3 down 3 up but when I tether my laptop I consistently get this: http://www.speedtest.net/result/1300046545.png
speedtest app still has issues, sometimes. I know you dont have to believe me, but I always get better results at speakeasy.net than I do with speedtest app. The app still sucks and constantly gives communication errors.
I was getting 4-5 mbps down on speedtest app and 12 down on speakeasy.net's speedtest webpage on this ROM. I think it all depends on where you test from.

They're talking about the Gingerbread leak. Looks like you're using the cm7 build and also have a different baseband. I did notice speeds of only 2-3Mbps when I got it briefly yesterday here in Raleigh, NC but just attributed that to either the speedtest app being flaky or them not having the network fully up. Didn't get a chance to run a browser based test before it went back off.
Ya the app is flake I got 14 mb down on a browser spedtest on the leak

Speed Test App Locks up

Has anyone else experianced this it has happened to me from day one when i open up speed test app and it says finding closest server the bar that scrolls back and forth jumps around lags stops then it says the closest server is witchita kansas and i live in south florida now sometimes it works flawless finds a server in miami but everytime i run the test it takes 30 to 45 seconds before it even starts it just says testing ping then it comes on ping time is usally around 130 210 ms but most of the time it dosent work at all says network error but if i toggle airplane mode or data on off and try again it works great the first time but any subsequent time requires toggling the data
Sounds like you just have a poor network connection. Depending on what part of Clewiston you live in, there are some pretty significant gaps in AT&T coverage.
How does the speedtest app work for you when you are on wifi?
wifi seems ok the randomness of the speedtest app is crazy i usually have full bars at my house but even showing fukk bars i get the network error and one it throws me that error i have found that i have no data at all i can place calls but cant log on facebook or connect to the market cant send recieve e-mails or sms i have to toggle my data on off and then it goes back to work then if i run speed test it works ok the first time if i run it again right after that it gives me network error and i have to toggle data i dont know if its the app i have been having these random network issues from the time i got the phone but it seems more prevalent with the speed test app i have unninstalled and reinstalled the speed test app but one i lose my data it never comes back without toggling on and off it majorly blows
Absolutley sounds like a data problem in your area. Full bars just indicates a strong radio signal from the tower. There's a lot more that needs to happen to get good data throughput. I suggest giving AT&T tech support a call.
They will be much more helpful than any of us can be on this forum.

Maybe it just can't keep up with the blazing speed of the AT&T network? HEHE, sorry I just had to say it... And even I can't keep a straight face while typing that, hahahaha.
Mine has locked up several times on the upload portion of the test. This usually occurs when the data speed is bad, like dial-up bad.

LTE Issues in NYC (6/27/11)

Anyone having DL speed issues in NYC today? Speeds were awesome this morning, 20mb dl and 6mb up. Now I can't get over 1 mb in dl but uploads are still good. I'm running the 402 radio and a co-worker is running stock and his speeds are effected as well.
If so, this would be my first LTE semi-outage. I'm new to Verizon and was wondering if these things are frequent.
Same in Boston, upload speeds are fine but can't get over 1Mbps down. I've heard they're supposedly working on the networks right now. I don't use 4G all the time, this is the first I've personally seen speeds be this slow.

I've been on 3g all day today in the Chicago area, I figured they were doing some kind of network tweaking, been having great battery life though!

I'm in Chicago and 4g has been fine for me the entire day, 16 mbps down and 4mbps up right now. (jefferson park is my current location)
Seems to be the network as a whole here in NYC. Another co-worker has the droid incredible (Stock unrooted) on 3G he normally pulls 4-5mb and can't get over .40 currently. Glad to know I don't have to flash different radios, etc.

yea it was perfectly fine at work last night, was watching my shows on youtube and flash sites since my job hates me with the killing of flash and most websites access
Been on the 3G network the last 3 days here in Atlanta. Today 1X only. Called Verizon they are currently experiencing issues in my area. Also said Please allow a couple of days to regain full speeds. I recently updated roms to BAMF 1.8 Remix. Had good 4G for a couple of days befor this so Im pretty sure its not the ROM.
I've been on campus all day using wifi, but I did notice that it kept showing 3G when I moved between repeaters. NJ right across the Hudson.

[RADIO] Blaze 4G Modem for Sidekick 4G

Modem pulled from the Samsung Blaze4G.
Not hard to install at all, just put it on your sdcard and flash in Recovery.
Yes. This was not originally for Froyo I have to remove some /libs.
I made it work for the Sidekick 4G.
Credits to Master&Slave for pulling the Modem from the device.
Download: Here
Froyo/Gingerbread Only
My Results:
-My speeds have increased and I always have 3/4 full bars no lower and always 4G.
Just Hit the thanks button...
It will save a lot of you from getting infractions/warnings
I'll give it a shot and report back here. Thanks.
Edit : Noticing a gain of 1-2 bars on signal and faster 4G speeds. This is the real deal man, thanks! It will report as KJ2 but it is the Blaze 4G modem.
HOLY******* MOTHER OF LORD! SUPER EDIT! Just ran a speed test....holy..****. 11,000 kbps (download), 1,000 kbps (upload)

May seem like a noob question, but how does this affect your contract and things like that? Like its not going to give me surcharges or anything? It just increaces the ability of the radio already built in?
Lol idts esle modem flashing would not be very popular on the xda forukms now would it?

If anything, it'll make you hit your 4G cap faster and they'll just throttle you down to 3G...haha.
Weird, but I'm noticing a higher battery life due to this modem.
Maybe I made some othr significant change right before flashing the modem that I forgot about, but I have to ask. Is anyone else's phone being significantly more responsive? Especially during gpu intensive tasks. For example like playing temple run

I don't have any service in my apartment, so... after flashing, and it works, I'll be very happy.

Maybe obvious, but just for clarity and safety ... you mean you removed that stuff from the ZIP in this thread, not that some things need to be removed from the phone in order to successfully flash this radio ROM. Right?
I beleave he removed the /libs from the original zip so it would flash correctly (only guessing since thats what it took for me to flash the original onto my phone an notice a difference)
Modem flashing is a huge thing over in the captivate forum its nothing new.

LTE speed question...

Sorry if this has been asked, but I didn't see it posted on here....
So when I'm in the Speedtest app, I can changer servers and there can be quite a difference in speeds...So I'm curious is this something that can be done with the phone, changing server to increase DL/UL speeds, as well as ping times?
Again, I truly apologize if this is redundant, if so, please delete this thread...
Thank you in advance for any help,
Chris
That really don't change anything on your phone, it just changes the server you ping to test speeds. Some servers are busier than others causing you to get different speeds. What matters most would be where you are at when you test it.

Thank you for the quick answer! Does changing the radio have much of an effect?
Radios are trial and error. You need to find the one that works best for your area. But always try and start with the one that goes with your rom version.
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda app-developers app
You want radio that matches your tower. I'm in middle of full time 4G and have to drive 50 miles to get 3G handoff so radios are irrelevant. If in area like mine you need to use newest radios cause we have newest or most upgraded towers.
