Hi. I bought my HTC Sensation about two weeks ago and I am very happy with it. But I also read about something about rooting, so that sound interesting to access the whole phone. Correct me if I am wrong.
I have used google and youtube and this site popped up several times and searched around here.
But I am still confused (Yes I am a big noob) on which guide to use. It is so many..
And what happens if it fails? My phone is then a "Brick"? Can I "unbrick" it?
Thanks in advance.

Hey Guys,
As I mentioned in the title I am an uber noob when it comes to any sort of customization. I am travelling for 8 months, so I decided to pick up the HTC One S (first smart phone) instead of a laptop in Beijing because I thought it would be more useful. However, I'm already experiencing many difficulties.
Everything is in Chinese and I want English apps, but the Chinese app market loaded onto the phone has nothing in English. I have been searching through these forums trying to root my phone and flash a new rom onto it in hopes of accessing Google Play (I might need a VPN, too). However, some of the sites where I need to download software from (mediafire in particular) are inaccessible from where I am. How should I proceed?
Any help would be greatly appreciated! (and please in fairly simple terms for my noobish brain to handle or something I'd be able to search online)
Try to change the language in settings!

Before you try and unlock/root/flash your device, make sure it is an actual HTC One S, not some clone, and make sure you know whether you have an S3 or S4 model.

Does your phone look like one of these? In that case it does not have much in common with the One S versions in the rest of the world and you should absolutely not flash anything from xda. Even if it looks like the "normal" One S do as Jobo mentioned and pay attention to if it is a Z520e ("S4") or Z560e ("S3") and only flash stuff made specifically for your version. There should be a model number on the box.
Sorry if this is in the wrong place. Ive been using this website to teach myself how to root and unroot almost every phone out there, and I swear I searched for both model name and number but it looks like no one has touched the Viper. All i keep getting is ViperMOD. I know something is available for this phone because the ones I have are rooted. But I need to unroot and it's like that model doesn't even exist. Any help would be appreciated.

Oh no way!! I found a whole 3 pages. Starts here for anyone searching like me... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1549404
Hi There,
I would really appreciate some help with rooting my HTC Sensation XL which runs Android version 4.0.3.
I am not too sure if I have posted this in the right section so my apologies if I haven't.
OK so I have been trying for about 6 weeks now to ROOT my HTC. The only reason that I wish to do so is so that I can delete the apps that can not be deleted from the phone IE Facebook,Twitter & similar apps. I don't use them any more and because of this I would like them off the phone.
I have spent many of hours trawling the net to find guides and step by steps on how to do this. I wouldn't say I know/understand a lot of what it asks me to do but at the same time I have a little knowledge so that I am not completely in the dark.
But after reading several step by steps, reading about all the files I need,I end up getting lost and very confused half way through so I decided that perhaps an app that does it for me would be best.
I have seen SuperOneClick recommended several times so I thought I couldn't go wrong with it.
I downloaded the file from CNET.It is version 2.3.3. I extracted it,plugged my phone in via usb (made sure it was in debugging mode) and then clicked "RUN AS ADMINISTRATOR" on the actual SOC icon. It brought up the box and I clicked "ROOT". It scrolled and it looked like it was going well until step 7 where it hangs and just states "WAITING FOR DEVICE".I gave it some time but after an hour of it not changing from this,I guessed that something was wrong. Then when I try and click on the window,it becomes unresponsive and I have to force close it.
I have searched for solutions to this, one forum even suggested that I download an older version of SOC which I did. But it pretty much did the same thing, just a different message.
As I said, all I want to do is delete these apps so if anyone can shed some light on the problem I am having and how I can actually root the phone in the most simplest terms (talk to me as if I was your Nan!) then I would be very grateful.
Thank you for your time
Crystal
You should probably move this to the HTC sensation XL thread. This is only the HTC sensation/4g/XE thread. I'm sure there are more people who can help you out if you post in that thread...

Do NOT use any methods of rooting or anything else that you find in this forum. Like the post above says, this forum is for the Non XL Sensation. This is a different device with different processes. Using regular Sensation methods on an XL stands a real good chance of bricking your device.

Ah thank you very much! I couldn't find the forum for the XL so I assumed that this would be the only one. Shall try to find it now.
Hello Guys, this is my first post on this site, I have tried my best to search this forum for answers. Admittedly I found some posts that were similar but I do not think they will solve this issue, I am requesting some help please.
I am completely new to Android phones as well
Last week I purchased a used HTC ONE X from Amazon, that was claimed to be unlocked (international) version from AT&T. Since I am in the Caribbean and out of AT&T's data reach I was forced to use another carrier. Because of this I am unable to update my phone from the settings tab. After doing some reading I stumbled across this site:
/HTC_One_X%E2%84%A2_for_AT%26T_ROM_Update_|_3.07.2013
That had instructions to update the phone from a provided RUU. Well I downloaded and installed that, and everything went completely fine until the ending of the RUU installation. Now my phone wont turn on (LCD) and no LED. All that happens is it getting connected to the USB but the driver reads QHSUB_DLOAD.
I am completely sorry if I am tying this forum up because this question has been answered, but I'd really like someone (Anyone) to walk me through a fix if it is even possible?
Should I also add that nothing was done to the phone before this happened ; No attempts to hack the phone or anything were made.
Thanks in advance guys.

It's a brick, your best bet will be to try and contact HTC for a replacement. Most likely it was hacked before and the person who sold it did not take into account or didn't know what would happen if one were to run the update after having rooted/unlocked it.
If HTC won't replace it, you can do a JTAGG which is a service that will retore your phone.
There is an unbrick evita thread that describes steps to take to TRY to unbrick the phone but from what I know, no one who has bricked from that method has been able to restore it.
Here's the link for your reference: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1966850
If the phone was used, it may have been hacked (as mentioned in the response above) to be SuperCID. As running the RUU while SuperCID and S-on results in a brick, per my post in General: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2181929
If the phone is new, and bone stock, its fully possible that the RUU just randomly bricked the device. Its not "common", but has happened to a small number of folks. In this case, I would reach out to the seller and explain the situation. Depending on the seller's policies, they may or may not help you out. But for example, if the phone was purchased direct form AT&T in the US, AT&T would replace the phone in this circumstance (RUU caused brick).
Qualcomm download mode (QHSUB_DLOAD) caused by RUU really has no fix aside from JTAG (or replacement). You can try the unbricking thread (as previously mentioned). But I don't think anybody has come back from this particular brick circumstance.
Hi , im new here and really need some advice.
I purchased a Z3 this week and bought it second hand , even though it is new but without box. I found out it has the dreaded demo app installed because i think it was ex-display in a phone shop. Once i plug in the charge it deletes my photos, contacts, apps etc. and comes up with the demo video. Iv'e tried the codes people usually use and done something else using the computer someone suggested ,but nothing works. I was thinking about rooting the phone but after looking on forums i can't seem to find anything to explain how to root it or even if it's possible yet because its a new phone. Iv'e tried to delete the app it has but it just keeps coming back. So need to find someone way that is like rooting the phone to get access to delete it permanently. If anyone can help , would be much appreciated. Thanks:good:
