When I used a blackberry, it had an "auto-turnoff" function that would turn off the device from say 2am to 7am.
Is there a way to do this for windows mobile? CT scheduler looks promising but is for smartphones only.
Are there slick ways to already do this?
I know about setting an appointment and using an automatic profile, but I would prefer something less... dependent on my remembering to set my profile before I got to bed.
Thanks in advance for any help!
try this
it does what u wish.
Thanks! I have it loaded and will try it out. Few questions:
Does it need to remain in memory or can I close it?
Does it work with CDMA phones?
I will probably figure them out sooner or later.

When I tried this app on my QTek 8500 (StrTrk) running WM6.1 Clean, it produced an error relating to Forms. Maybe it wasn't meant for WM6 or something. Does anyone know of a different, preferrablly free, program that I can use to set my phone to switch on/off the "phone" feature at certain times?
SPB Mobile Phone. It has it's own profile settings. You can choose to run it automatically on any specific time. It is not free though but very useful. It has a today plug-in with all the necessary icons to control the system.
The company I work for pushes a policy to your phone if you connect to the Exchange server that requires a password to be set. I'm not too upset about that, but this screen isn't very Fuze like if you know what I mean.
Is there a way to skin the screen where you enter your pin to unlock the phone? I have searched a lot and come up empty making me think this is not possible. I don't think I'll be using S2U2 because it is a battery eater. I just want to change the screen... maybe black background with cool looking buttons and green key highlights.
Answer to my own question... sort of...
Well, one way to solve this dilemma is to remove the policy via a registry edit. Even better, the following URL contains both the associated registry entries and a little free utility to remove and/or modify them. Posted here to help others.

Got an AT&T Jack and need all the help I can get with this phone.
Hardly any .cabs will run on it and the GPS is locked (tried all the unlock tricks for the BJII).
This really is a nice phone, its just sooooo hindered by AT&T its not funny.
Thanks
I just got it yesterday..loving the phone and all the features ..when you mean the gps is locked ) what exactly you mean..I've been using google maps ,live search, and att navigator and my phone is fresh out the box..
Really, ok theres hope. Trying to get Garmin XT to work. Don't want to pay for att nav, and no data plan. Any ideas there, also gps test cant find the gps device.
And How do I set ringtones? I can't figure this darn thing out.
Am working on the ringtones well how to set my own mp3 ( i tried cutting a mp3 down to 30sec and pasted into my documents and ringtones and it didnt work) i hate the stock ringtones..If am correct i had read somewhere that the gps has to be set to com4 .. I was reading in another forum that they are working to security unlock our phone ( so no more permission not allowed when installing cabs) Keep you posted
Thank you so much, btw what is the other forum, I love forums on phones
Got the ringtones: 30 seconds, under 300kb, MP3, My Ringtone folder works for me.
Jsanta which forum did you see the activities to app unlock the Jack? I tried every possible availible tool also but no luck
GPS is not locked. Both Google Maps and Live Search Mobile worked without any tweaks. Acquisition is nearly instantaneous.
Ringer MP3's are capped by the same filesizelimit registry key (300kb) that was installed on the Blackjack 2.
The problem is the registry on the i637 is locked, so a registry editor is no help. I have dug around in the registry and found the security settings, but I cannot make any changes due to the locked registry. I posted them on the ATT/Samsung forum linked here:
http://forums.wireless.att.com/cng/board/message?board.id=samsung&thread.id=70827&page=5
Anybody know how to unlock the i637's registry?
Thanks for that link bch, saw it back a few days ago and it had 2 posts and forgot it. Wow how its grown.
Also could you please explain how to use CHome to do the contacts like yours, god that would help me.
And when I run chome I get errors on alot of things is this normal?
CHome Configurator (CC) will generate registry error messages when you (a) launch it and (b) save changes. Regardless of the error messages, the program runs and the changes do save and work perfectly.
This is how I set up my sliding panel for speed dialing:
Open CHome Config. Then do the following:
Menu > Panel > New, click yes when asked if you want to create a new panel.
Name the panel "speed dial" or something that suits you. The newly created panel wil appear in the list of panels; highlight it then click "show" on left soft button. This makes it visible on the homescreen; conversely, any panel can be hidden from view on the homescreen by clicking "hide."
Click on the panel to edit it. An editing window will open, click Menu > Page > New. When asked, confirm you want to create a new page.
Click Menu > Template > Contact Dialer. Choose contact phone number from your contacts list. If it's not a mobile #, it will ask if you want to enable SMS (text mssg) for this contact. Click yes if you want to use a speed e-mail for this contact. Click yes when it asks if you want to use the contact photo for the contact.
If you are using e-mail instead of SMS, then you need to manually edit the last field on the page which identifies the messaging service. Replace "SMS" with the name of the e-mail account you want to use, e.g. "Hotmail". Importantly, and not intuitively, if you want to use Outlook E-mail, then you need to insert "ActiveSync". Do not get this field confused with the one for the right soft-button, which you might want to change to "Send E-Mail" or similar instead of "SMS."
For each contact, create a new page and format as described above. Then click Done. Then Menu > Exit. You will be prompted to save. Doing so will give you two registry error messages (at least on the i637, it will), but ignore them by hitting OK. The speed dial panel will now appear amongst the sliding panels on your homescreen.
CHome also gives you the ability to change the order that panels appear on your homescreen under Menu > Panels.
Good luck!
Oh, I forgot to add:
When editing the last field to change from SMS to e-mail, you need to insert the e-mail address in the place of the phone number. So, "555-555-555" would be changed to "[email protected]"
Again, you only do this if you want to use e-mail with this contact and not SMS (text mssg).
Thank you sooo much
my phone is locked also
i cant seem to run anything that does not have a certificate or digitally signed.
the phone has a two-tier security enabled. I used security confi manager to verify.
Also i cant get Garmen xt to recognize the GPS.
I tried Ceregeditor and can not change any registry settings.
Thank you for your time,
Felipe
ATT sucks

I feel the same way , no data plan or att Nav, why give ATT more money when we already payed for the phone.
Felipe, have you tried Windows Live Mobile and/or Google Maps? Both work with GPS on my phone, but I haven't tested anything else. I know it's not a solution, but if we can track the performance over several phones, we might get closer to a solution.
I can confirm that mine worked fresh out of the box with both of these apps.
BCH238,
Windows Live Mobile is working and it sees the GPS using intermediate driver.
Now if we can only unlock the GPS intermediate driver so that garmin xt can see it.
I had to do this for the blackjack 2 using MoDaCo.SmartphoneGPSActivator.COM4.CAB
but i can not run this in Jack because its locked down. and the cab is not certified.
So far nothing GPS related, except google, live or, att (that have been mentioned so far), will see the gps device.
Is there a way to get google or live to not use data and read maps off of storage?
I cant even get pocket streets 2004 to run. then again it is old.
NOT WORKING:
GPStest
Garmin
tomtom
MS Pocket streets 2004 won't install too old
Argh....
It is a shame AT&T has crippled this so badly. All I want is to make a few modest tweaks that were no problem on my original Blackjack. Oh well, hopefully someone will come up with a workaround to unlock the registry in the not-too-distant future...
no maps off of storage
the only option i found was cache maps on SD card. but it still uses dataplan when you launch live maps.

In the same boat.....
I have the same problem with my Propel Pro....can't unlock the bloomin registry....AT&T is killing me!! I've waited to find a good deal on a wm smartphone that I could tweak and customize but I'm feeling really unsatisfied with this device so far....I've tries all sorts of reg editors and unlock methods to no avail....anyone have any luck yet????
None yet. At&t and Samsung have really locked these babies down. IT SUCKS.
Is there a way to build a cab file out of one that will install (ex. google maps)
with the regestery mods (out of one of the unlocker cabs) needed to unlock the phone. Basically tricking it.
Hi, I hope I'm posting in the right forum here!
Several people have said that the following is possible, but nobody knows how to actually do it!
I want to make tasker switch my default browser whenever I have mobile data enabled. The task would be pretty similar to the "switch input method" function, but I can't figure out how to do this.
Is it possible?

May I bump this?
I'm searching everywhere for a hint of whether my task is possible:
I have a plan that consists of 200 minutes, and unlimited calling to my 'Fav 10'.. I also have a data cap of 1Gig. I would like for Tasker to keep track of my minutes used (rounding up as my carrier does not bill by the second), and once it reaches a defined count (200), it'd switch my default phone dialer over to Skype for ONLY the phone numbers that are not part of my Favourite Ten (or Dell Voice, however Google Voice is not available in Canada at the moment).
Skype rates are 3cents/minute, compared to 45cents for every extra minute on my plan; it is possible to $3+tac for call forwarding, but it doesn't seem to let me exclude callers from the feature. Also, I'm trying to live within certain budgets, as I am a student.
As well, I would like to be presented with an option box, to use either my native phone dialer or Skype, if I am approaching my 1gb cap (even a MB over will cost me a large chunk of money).
So... I'm searching and continuously searching... but I ask for anyone's help who may have.
Thanks a lot everyone..
Ryan
I think it's doable, at least some of it, but you would need someone who knows a lot about the logic syntaxes in Tasker and their limitations, which I unfortunately don't.

Thanks for the insight.
After only having Tasker for a few days, just by what I wrote above I can definitely see it as maybe possible.
But, as like you, I don't know enough of this to even begin, I'm afraid.
I'll keep an eye on this thread and bump it every so often until I give up, or until I'm told to stop

This is not an exact "set default application", but you can try this. Make the task with shortcut (and call it myBrowser). This task will run a different apps depending on the conditions (WiFi, Mobile Data, etc.).

Thanks, but it's over a year since I posted that, and actually started to do the exact thing you mentioned shortly thereafter myself

Prerequisites:
1. Root access
2. Tasker installed
It depends on the Action/Mime Type that you want to change but for opening an url in a non-default browser this works - I tested it.
Create new task: Misc>Send Intent
Action: android.intent.action.VIEW
Cat: None
Mime blank
Data: "your url"
Extra blank
Package: com.android.browser or com.webbrowserminiapp or "the package of whatever browser you want to use"
Class blank
Target: Activity
The rest is peace of cake.
Hello everyone,
i noticed (http://www.wpcentral.com/skype-causi...stay-connected)
that if i install the app "i love radio" and hit play, the wifi stays on even if i turn off the screen.
Even if i pause the stream and close the app (back-button), the wifi stays connected.
I really love that (i know i cause my battery draining).
My question is. Is it posible to make a autorun entry so that the app starts with the os?
I've installed a custom fully unlocked rom, right now i have a htc trophy with ROM RUU_Spark_HTC_Europe_5.12.
Best regards,
Crawler009
It should be possible, yes. The phone has an Autorun folder (but you need high permissions to write to it) and there's an API for creating shortcuts. You'd need a small piece of native code, either a native EXE or a Silverlight app that uses COM, to call the CreateShortcut API. You'd also need to know the command-line to launch the app the way you want it, which may require a little research.
You have seen Keep Alive in the Marketplace? It maintains WiFi connection.
